  • Why was the Grey Era so awesome? Well, there are a few reasons, but I think the most important is the remotely operated accessories. In this video I overview each accessory set available during the Grey Era. I hope you enjoy the video!

I remember seeing all those things in the Lego catalogue. It looks like you can actually build something that works like a real railway with the system. It always puzzled me how the uncoupling worked. Thanks for your videos.

Thanks for the comment! Yes, the 12v system was truly approaching (or at) the model train level with its functionality!

The best. It's unfortunate that all Lego does today is license every brand known under the sun. This era was basically a model train set done in Lego. The best.

Agreed! The new trains are so boring, battery operated isn't nearly as good as track powered... I do hope they change back someday...

These are great accessories! I really like the level crossing, something I know LEGO will never do again, but I would love to have.

Thanks for stopping by! The level crossing is a super cool set, and sometimes you can find it for under $150... maybe check BL if you are interested in getting one!

Great video again. The remote accessories were the best thing about the Grey 12v era. Never had the crossing 7866 as a kid but guess what? Got one now 😂. Thanks for sharing

@@Reker1million I have a couple of remote signals 7860 and some remote points but I don't have the uncoupler, they all seem to be cracked the ones I've seen. I have the station 7824 in lovely condition which was a lucky find.

I would love the 12V system with 9V rails and trains with power pick-ups so they can easily be controlled separately (like from a command central / BAP or similar). I see that might be fully possible with 3rd party help (like FX-bricks).

Yep, I've been looking at some of the third party developments for 9v recently, shame they don't do something similar for 12v motors... we could use replacement commutators!
