    The part about making a stabbing weapon out of 15 pieces of paper... the level of ingenuity in prison is insane.

      Yeah, at least in California spear/javelin type weapons made of rolled up paper and a makeshift "paper mache" type material are common in SHU/Level IV. Sometimes with tips made of other materials like melted plastic or metal. You can make a slingshot out of fabric/elastic from socks or undies and they can be "shot" like a ghetto bow and arrow through the holes in exercise cages and solitary cells.

      This is why boys need strong male role models in their lives to steer them in the right directions

    • @d1vin1ty

      @@james6846 This has nothing to do with strong male role models. This is the result of an entire system which fails them. Watch documentaries from Northern England where the gang and youth issues are far worse and you'll see how the kids who got sucked in feel.
      It's purely a lack of support in all aspects. Education,. housing, food, family. It all comes together to form a lack of basic structure and needs.

    • @james6846
      @james6846 3 місяці тому

      @@d1vin1ty It all starts from the home. Boys need a strong foundation that's based on morals and values that are instilled from their fathers or strong male figures. Where do you think support comes from? It's the parents. Blaming the system is just an excuse for not putting in any effort. There have been plenty of examples of successful men that have overcome bad environments.

      @@james6846 You have absolutely no idea what you're on about. Your ideology isn't a one size fits all. You've somehow found the second mount stupid in the dunning Kruger effect. You just make a bunch of vague statements to try to justify a spurr of the moment deduction. Socialization isn't something that just comes from "strong male figures" that's a ridiculous simplification. Even then that is a small part of the system that has failed these people. I'd suggest putting effort into evidence based learning instead of taking every shower thought you have as fact.

    Sending minors to Rikers Island is ridiculous. Going through that place won't "rehab" anyone, let alone be necessary for a 16yr old robbery suspect. Our criminal justice system is so insanely heavy-handed and biased.
