- Chris Arpin reviews the 2 types of solvent-based, urethane clear Createx Colors uses for its automotive refinishing including the Candy-Pearl Red Porsche 944 video. Featured are 1) PPG EC550, a gloss 2k clear for direct application to Createx paints and 2) PPG D8152 Global Gloss clear, for application over the EC550 to cut and buff for a show quality finish.

Happy days when Createx posts videos. Another great video too. Thanks guys.
Awesome ! Thank you for the kinds words of encouragement.
Awesome video like always. Thank you brother for sharing your knowledge with us.
thanks!
You might want to give the VC5700 a test drive. It's in PPG Vinrance line. I've been using it for a number of years on restoration. Usually about 4 coats and let it sunbathe for a few days to a week. Cuts and buffs nice even starting with 600g. Has good hang time and film build for leveling stripe lines and graphics.
thanks
Thanks for the explanation. Great vid! I watched the video on spray gun basics and he was talking about clear, but wasn't sure if he meant the Createx UVLS or a 2k clear. What would be a good Iwata gun/needle size for the EC550 and D8152? Thanks!
UVLS Clears spray best with a 1.4mm tip when using an Iwata spray gun. We use the same for EC550, although you may wish to consult PPG for the gun specs to their clear. Thank you.
@@CreatexColors Thanks!
What u think about the 550 fr? How do u think it stands up against 2021? I spray that daily.. but I sprayed I belive 530? For a while.. looks good but u better not get a speck of trash... if u did better get it right out the booth..
Any possibility to get the clear EC550 in Europa? i didn't find even in usa is difficult to get ?
I haven’t cleared over Createx yet. Do you out 1-2 tack/overspray coats on first? Thanks
Apply the first coat medium-wet. Tack coats aren't required for adhesion, and can create texture. Use a higher-temp/slower reducer, and open up the re-coat times to allow each coat to level. Thank you.
Can you spray that urethane clear directly over cured and wetsanded waterborne createx colors? Or should you spray an intercoat clear first and then spray the final clear before the intercoat clear cures?
A 2k solvent-based, urethane clear may be applied directly over cured Createx paints. Dry sand water-based paints, not wet sand. For more, please refer to the Automotive Application Guide at www.creatextech.com. Thank you.
Can you use the autoborne white sealer as a basecoat on a vehicle and put upol 2k urethane clear over it?
Yes, please review our application guide and AutoBorne tech sheet before making your test panel, which is recommended before the actual paint job. Thank you. www.creatextech.com.
What do you suggest for a 2k clear coat for exterior and/or to submerged in salt water that is compatible with createx line of products.
Use a 2k marine-grade clear, which most often is a solvent-based, catalyzed epoxy clear. A 2k marine-grade urethane clear can also be used. Make a test panel to compare the two. Each works well. Thank you.
@@CreatexColors what brand and #? Thank you
Any brand of a marine grade clear is compatible, including PPG HPC High Gloss Epoxy.
👍❤
nice
thanks Mike!
How about Matrix or Nason over Createx?
Any 2k solvent-based urethane clear can be used to top-coat Createx paints. We choose PPG due to its quality and excellent results both visually and durability. Thank you.
@@CreatexColors thank you guy's ! It's a great product. I'm using it to paint a large sign right now .
Only available to established commercial customers. That sucks.
Both of these clears are readily available to anyone at PPG auto supply stores, including online at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Thank you.
YOU ARE SO ON THE MONEY
WHEN YOU SAY WATERBASE CLEANER.
ALSO GOOD CLEAN WATER BY IT SELF
