    Good to hear your tips, in the UK we have PPG but also Max Meyer which is basically PPG but under another name. It works the same way, I get on really well with it, I found the suggested grey shades can be wrong too and go for gut instinct.

    Some useful tips there for those that use PPG, I found that using microfibre cloths really changed my paint finishes from the base laying down better and a much cleaner finish with the clearcoat👍 I bet you are pleased you are back using Standox now Gunny and from what I've seen on your Insta page you are loving it👌🙏 John UK.

    Thanks gunny, always appreciate the tip videos- I was painting a wing last week and I had the fish eye effect like you said, I baked between the base and clear and that seemed to help, I’ll try a microfibre next time as it was exactly as you said with the panel wipe and G-wipes. I like the PPG stuff though- spent years using their Delfleet and Deltron stuff 👍🏻

    Some painters live by what the recommendation on mixing sheet said if I don't like how something is spraying I'll try something a little different not crazy but like you said add more thinner if something don't come out right you have to do something as long as what you do isn't going to totally screw it up.

    Haha, I definitely hear you on the spectro! Sometimes it's bang on, others it's a mile away 🤣 I'm with you on overthinning the base too. In the UK they recommend up to 30% anyway. And try the t492 if you get chance, it does make a worthwhile difference.

    I pretty much always thin my clear by 30% additional ESPECIALLY for the last 2 coats. I prefer to lay down a tack then 3 thinner coats vs lay a tack then 2 heavy, I feel it looks less chunky. Usually shoot my clear using the tulip head Awata gun because it really atomizes the clear.

    Used envirobase for 8 years. 136 clear at .8 reducer is fine you just need higher pressure for atomization. Never ever reduced base more than 20 percent and the coverage with 2 60 percent coats is brilliant including colours like 3r3 or coarse 1co. Wet on wet everything with a blend out reducer and you will never have problems 👌

    Just went to I a new shop switching from axalta Chromabase to envirobase. Been about 2 months now, so far I'm way happier with Envirobase then I was with Chromabase. We use EC530 clear, and It seems to lay down very smooth and not much peel. What I do get is kind of like "boils" or "specks" in my clear, not sure what the actual term for it is. They do sand and polish out pretty easy but would like to avoid the issue all together. Any tips from you or anyone out there can talk me where I'm going wrong? I don't think it's "pop" from basecoat but maybe I'm wrong? Tend to be able to bury it with my clear if you dump the clear on heavy enough

    The only tip you need is to actually read the data sheet. Particularly the part where it instructs you to apply the basecoat in light coats and avoid heavy application to prevent issues. Go look at that blue falcon respray video and you'll see someone doing the exact opposite. It'll never dry properly lathering it on that heavy. I've always liked your content and reviews but you're really far off the mark with your opinions on enviro. I've used it for years and I've never seen anyone have so many issues with it.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  2 роки тому +4

      So what, we're expected to do 7 coats just to get it covered? Because we're doing so little per coat. PPG themselves massively miss the mark when their data sheets say 24-26 seconds viscosity for base but they recommend 15% reducer, so as far as I'm concerned I'll make it up as I go because they can't get their own system straight. PPG colours are terrible, I moved to a Standox shop this week and haven't matched one colour all week. PPG is so slow and the colours don't cover well at all.

    • @TheMirrorify
      @TheMirrorify 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheGunmanChannel 1 very light dust coat followed by 2-3 medium coats gets me there on 90% of colours with the right grey underneath. I don't have a problem with people using a viscosity cup, 15% can definitely be too thick in winter without a heated tinter cabinet.
