Dr. Becky, I’m here a year later after watching today’s 5 low carb foods that cause bloating. I’ve suffered from IBS all my life and NO ONE has mentioned eating low carb, nor avoiding FODMAPS except you. Thank you so much! I’ve been following your 0,1,2,3 diet along w your book and have lost my menopausal belly fat and covid weight gain and feel better than I have ever felt! My IBS is still there but so much more manageable💕👏🏻. Thank you!
Great video. Thanks. Perhaps you could do one on lectins as well - as I've heard these can contribute to a leaky gut (and therefore autoimmune diseases as well).
Amazing professional video Dr Becky thank you so much!! First time I've heard cheese separate from cows milk ,I watched too many were the host was obviously reading a textbook from above camera like Autocue ... I'm now subscribed ❤
I love eating beans because they give me a sense of fullness that lasts a long time so I’m not eating as often. It’s probably the only high carb food I eat, tho, unless you count blueberries. Could you please do a video about using beans on a low carb diet?
i ferment beans and lentils first, not much work. It does not put me out of ketosis. I test it with my ketone brief reader, it also does not spike my insuline. But that is me, u have to test it urself.
Very helpful. Gastroenterologist put me on the Low FODMAP diet after having a serious 10 day bout with Pancreatitis, then having Gall Bladder removed, without any help or lists. Told me to go on the internet to learn about it. WoW. That was hard because no info for this. I have been working with the Keto/ Intermittent Fasting/ Carnivore. Feeling so much better now but, it has been 8 months of a lot of trial and error. Thank you so much.
Thank you Dr. Becky for an easy to follow plan for low FODMAP. For many people, it is a very challenging diet. Combine that with the fact that there is so much conflicting information on what is and isn't to be excluded, it can get quite depressing. Not all of the specific FODMAPs trigger all people! Elimination is key to finding trigger foods. For example, I was delighted to discover that avocados are not a trigger for me. Also, sometimes taking lactase (Lactaid) will help prevent some folks from suffering the reaction to dairy products. I have progressed beyond IBS to SIBO, in which the bacteria digesting these types of foods have invaded my small intestine. If a person gets extreme bloating, to the point their waist expands 3 inches or more (as in my case), SIBO is a likely culprit. I have found relief following Dr. Pimental's guidelines for a low fermentation diet. Dr. Pimental is with Cedar Siani in Los Angeles and you can find his guidelines at his website.

I've been following a low carb/keto, sometimes carnivore way of eating and have lost weight. I veered off the diet (because of fatigue) and am having terrible IBS issues again from eating sourdough bread, dairy, and some high fodmap foods. I'm seeking information on staying low-carb and low-fodmap.
I think doctors and nutritionists don't understand that fiber can hurt, causing physical pain, for people with ibs. For me, it also causes constipation.
That’s not a carnivores diet, and definitely should not be a humans. We can be omnivorous in extreme moderation without too much harm, but are natural herbivores. Following a diet in tune with this leads to the best health, as Mother Nature intended:)
What kind of oils or fats do you use? Have you tried avocado oil it's expensive compared to others but it's a healthy fat. It might work for you it may be worth a try. Definitely stay away from seed or vegetable oils including canola oil they cause inflammation to the body which causes heart disease.
i cant never figure out what to eat. My stomach hurts all the time. I have been on keto for 1month and I still hurt. I try to track to see what is causing the gas, bloating, and pain... Not working it hurts all the time and my stomach blows up all the time even at 20 carbs daily.
Would low carb bread be something to avoid or would it be ok? I eat low carb but wax still bloating up. I have IBS and Crohn’s so I end up looking like I’m 8 months pregnant. I was eating a lot of broccoli, sugar alcohols and cauliflower. Been suffering because I’m always bloated!
@@insertmyidentityhere it’s not bread like wonder. It’s 1 carb 25 calories etc. UIt’s low carb and not made with flour. It’s almond flour or coconut flour or both. I’m wonder if the companies who make the low carb bread are adding flour in order to sell their low carb bread.
Yes stay away from vegetable seed oils. They cause inflammation which causes heart disease. Avocado oil, clarified real butter, lard, tallow are good options. Coconut oil is good too but it needs to be the solid kind at room temperature.
Thank you for your soothing voice. I'm sure it isn't as soothing when you are angry. Maybe I need to hear from your husband LOL. I've been on the carnivore diet for almost 2 months and a half now. No fruits or veggies. No dairy. All meat and eggs. I've lost 15 lbs. have dropped below 15% body fat. I've now gone from lean to ripped. I'm 66 5'6" 155 lbs. I've been doing resistive training for over 40 years. Continually learning new things.
I will still eat those. The benefits outweighs anything...garlic, cauliflower and nuts, can also cause gases. Beans are an excellent source of iron. Just make sure you have a source of vitamin c, so irons is best absorbed.

I love my keto foods, but my digestion of most carbs has gone south.
If they feel bloated and gassy after eating a pair, then they should only one and have another one, if they feel like it!

There are high carb food low in fodmap. Rice, quinoa, millet
This why I don’t eat a lot of although I love broccoli and spinach 🥦
IBS symptoms lead me to an elimination diet - high fat/ mod protein - carnivore. No more symptoms! Hurray!

My best friend has ibs and gastroparesis. The gas in many vegetables is a no. Broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms are big no
Get rid of the bread already! 🤦♀️

When you say oils are good are you suggesting that vegetable oils are ok? I’ve always heard you should avoid vegetable and seed oils.
Vegetable oils are not good for you. I'm pretty sure Dr. Becky is referring to olive, avocado, and coconut oils even though she doesn't specify.

Does the hydrogen gas also cause brain fog?
I experience brain fog every time I bloat

Garlic and onions are normally a big no for ibs.
Beans have lectins & wreck the digestive system. Hope being lazy is worth it lol 👌
@texasgirl1977 look at the health of the people from tbe countries that beans.
FODMAP might be the reason certain people self combust!
How possible is it that fodmap intolerance is just due to a lack of fiber and poor gut flora?
This is so confusing.
