Edit: I should probably have made that clear in the video but the whole thing only works because the bomb damage cancels the pickup animation of the first item. That means that the trick is impossible for The Lost characters (Holy mantle doesn't cancel the animation)!
Btw you should also check the videos in the description, they make use of the same mechanic!
Who found out about this method? Bc in discord there once was a joke that ginger will find a way to take both item's from angel room

j&e is actually really easy considering this exists, actually makes the risk of having double hitbox dare i say balanced and fun

Finally, I can pick up both Bob's Brain and Soy Milk!
Both items are pretty good tbh, specially soy milk in repentance

@@SlayXc2 Not on it's own, but with Diplopia, a successful Crooked Penny or with Damocles active you can get those.
@@TetramentTea Diplopia creates a new set of choices so this trick is not necessary as J&E...
There seems to be a boss rush room with 4 choices closely grouped together... if they are separated by only 1 tile then it's possible for J&E to get all 4 items
@@ginger88895 Yeah I realized after writing, but didn't feel like editing. I'm not sure but I think Crooked Penny might work the same. I know Damocles creates another set of choice pedestals though.

there is 8 cycle in the animation. If you try to catch the item at the moment where the bomb gets red, you'll be able to perform the trick more easily
This reminds me the old _run-into-a-card-while-using-another_ in Flash Isaac.
İt has the same foundation.
As long as function is retained while disappearing animation all is well

@@colinouille2786 you run into another card whilst using one to immediately pick up another. very useful with teleportation cards, so you wouldn't have to leave a card behind.

Considering you need a spare heart, a spare bomb, and frame-perfect timing, this probably falls under the "dodge through spikes diagonally" clause that as of Rebirth is actually built into the design of rooms now. Also worth mentioning that you're damage-canceling an animation so you legitimately need to take damage from it!
Diagonal spikes are super easy compared to this
@@MisterIncog My point was mostly that it started out as a bug in Flash Isaac and Rebirth not only retained it but added rooms where you're expected to use it.
@@HeraldOfOpera There's no room in the game that requires the trick, altho you can use the trick to get extra stuff for free
@@rompevuevitos222 Uh, no room in the game that requires it? Unless you have flying, yes there are. One example is a coin beggar boxed in by spikes I've found in some rooms. Without knowing about the diagonal trick, you'd have no way of getting to him (or even giving him coins) without taking damage.

I'm not 100% sure if you are serious or not, but it doesn't work as the Lost characters ^^ The Mantle prevents you from using this.

@@sanke_ Actually, Maggy is the worst character to do this with due to her inherent lower chances of devil/angel rooms
angel rooms require a devil room beforehand so they are harder to get and you could just spend your extra health in a devil room instead
This makes the plunger item (that item where you can remote detonate your bombs) even more valuable then ever

I think that you can time it with the last change of animation (3 "slow" flashes *move* 3 fast flashes) I'll try it and come back to tell if it works as timing

i would almost always pick bob's brain instead of the shit brimstone item tho

@@nathanielrubinas5775 the issue is enemies that rush you down like spiders. on bosses its no issue, but in normal rooms it is an issue. especially if the enemy pops up in front of you like the ghosts, or go near you like the little haunts
@@nathanielrubinas5775 so what do you do then. simply not shoot and have the enemy hurt you because you didn't kill it before it runs into you? heres the thing, why bother having to micromanage something that can injure you when its easier to shoot nornally without having to worry about the stupid brain.

Big bomb makes some little sad bombs, they shoot big bombs, they make sad bombs, they shoot bag bombs and this automatically continuous forever! Just one shot!
P.s. this is impossible to stop without removing one of the items
