    Normalize telling people "out of respect for my wife/husband, we have to discontinue our friendship". Nothing personal against you, but everything is personal when it comes to my spouse!!! If my spouse is uncomfortable regarding ANYONE, I have to cut ties with that person because my spouse comes before EVERYONE after God!!!

    You can tell he still has some healing to do in the area of validation. Maintaining many female friendships for some men is to fill a void. Intimacy grows through shared interests , I don’t want my man developing intimacy with someone who’s not me. He shouldn’t want to even develop that with another woman.

    We have to stop “watering down” what the Bible says and what’s acceptable in the Church. Saying that you are using secular music to “reach souls” is nonsense. God doesn’t want us to sin or not filter what we listen to just to bring people into the kingdom. We do so by demonstrating righteousness and striving to be more like him. We’re saying God is not Big enough for us to stay saved and still preach to the masses.

    I ended my marriage because my ex-husband didn’t understand the dangers of emotional infidelity. Men think that cheating is just sexual. It isn’t. It’s ANY deep connection that you have with someone other than your spouse. Emotional intimacy can actually be more devastating. Ladies, never let a man manipulate you into thinking you’re imagining things between him and his ‘friend’. Listen to your intuition.

    I love these two!! Praying blessings upon blessings on their union. Their friendship is truly amazing and I love seeing young black men do what they said they couldn’t. Jabari’s stance, “I don’t get it now but I’ll understand it later,” reminds me of the beauty that can be found in obedience. Keep God first and that FAVOR will exceed anything you’ve ever imagined❤

    I think this can potentially be a beautiful union . After Jabari let go of these women “friends “. Men can often be naive . But at some point in his life and in marriage ( ideally before ) in the same manner you’ve got to leave your mom and dad , you must first let go of these friends to cleave to your wife . What else can other women serve you outside of validation?

    I love this episode! This confirmed why I didn't let my ex play in my face like he tried to. I do not trust male/female "friendships." Females are scandalous and males do not seem to notice when their "best friends" are being sneaky. Thank you for this episode.

    Whew this is triggering for me their story reminds me of my last relationship. My ex was just like Jabari very charismatic, more friendship with women than men, and multiple engagements. And I expressed the same concerns that Jasmine had, (we even were in pre-martial counseling) and my ex would put “boundaries” around his friendships outta respect for me. But let me tell you that was not enough, my ex ended up cheating on me with one of his “friends”. Thank God I found out before we went thru with getting married.
    But what i learned from that relationship is if a man is only changing his “whorish” ways for the sake of you, THE CHANGE WILL NOT LAST!! He will eventually go back to his true nature. Only the power of the Holy Spirit can change a man’s nature. Also it should be a red flag when every women that he has dated before you, he has proposed to because what makes me so special you thought every girl was “the one” before me. What made your decision making so right this time around. Lastly don’t trust a man who doesn’t have strong male friendships. Who is he accountable to, who is giving him advice from a man’s perspective.
    I’m really praying for this couple bc although the wedding date is almost here it’s better to walk away before the I DO. Or even if they continue with the wedding I’m praying that there is significant change that they won’t have to go thru infidelity in their marriage.

      This is very good and very true. As I was watching, I just had this unsettling feeling about some of the responses I was hearing. And HEAVY on ONLY the power of Holy Spirit can change a man’s nature. If you’re only modifying your behavior just to have “peace” of mind or to avoid conflict with someone, what tends to happen is you become secretive and sneak around. Especially if you can’t understand why that behavior is wrong in the first place.
      I am not in a place to say whether this type of relationship can or will last. However, like you, I’m praying for this couple.

    I'm glad they're transparent about their past. However, I need to say this...we Christians need to do better when it comes to sexual purity. To be serving in Church and fornicating part-time is not God honoring. It happens too frequently in our churches. We need to be awaken to why it's so easy for people to lack that self-control.
    I see Jasmine as a good Church girl, I wonder what pushed her into having sex with her fiance in the first place. I was all excited when she started talking about her taking the Bible seriously, but my heart sunk, knowing she had already tasted the forbidden fruit🫣. Not judging, but I wish they had touched on what triggered them to start having sex in the first place while still serving in church. Was it lack of boundaries, did they move in together? This could free some younger ones from going the same path. Also, from they comments, it sound like they live together...I stand to be corrected. If true, that alone could lead them into temptation.
    Anyway, praying God guide their relationship.

    • @lisacox3750
      @lisacox3750 Рік тому

      I don't blame people when the Churches have NEVER done a good job of explaining sexuality. It's not about lack of self control. It's about biology. Our bodies allow us to start procreating at around 11-13. Think about that for real. Our bodies (not anything we have control over) already prepare us to bring life into the world starting between 11-13. No one talks about this in church. Hormones are all over the place. Hormones that are created there for a reason ...and we don't have control over them. If we didn't get aroused we wouldn't even want to have sex to even procreate. Testerone levels peak at 18-19 which makes sense why those are the ages when they are most likely to want to have sex. Let's keep it all the way real. It's not nasty - it's biological. This is how it should be talked about in church with teenagers. Not shame them for their bodies doing what it does NATURALLY. Purity culture is NOT the answer.
      Honesty about biology is the answer. Explaining the importance of wanting to save yourself for your future life partner is the answer. Let's start here: by most accounts Mary who was the mother of Jesus was engaged to Joseph and pregnant with him when she was either 14 or 15. Marinate on that for a moment- and that would not have been unusual. In the early 1970s, the median age for men to get married was 23 and it was 21 for women. Basically the point is...back in the day people were marrying during their peak hormone years. Now, people are holding off marriage for so many reasons - and their bodies can't hold off like that. Their bodies can't stop doing what it naturally does because you haven't gotten married yet and you are 28. That's not how that works. What people should be doing instead is teaching the need for wanting marriage and not holding off. Let's talk about WHY people are holding off on marriage in the first place. That's the real conversation...because if people don't see the value in marriage and are holding off for those reasons....if we could shift that mentality that would solve the issue. Whey are Christian people not feeling the need to get married at 21 or 22 like they used to? Let's start there. Back in the day, men didn't wait to get married because they "weren't settled yet "- they figured it out. I'm not saying that's all good, but I'm not saying it's all bad either. I think there is some good that can be learned from getting married young and figuring things out together as a couple and learning together. You truly build TOGETHER. That's lost on the younger generations. I'm 43 and I see it all the time.

      Genuine question: Why do you perceive that Jasmine was pushed into sex? What if she was the initiator?

    • @roselineasante614
      @roselineasante614 Рік тому +1

      @@praizeyah I make that assumption because of her partner's sexual past. Assuming she was the one who initiated sex, if the partner was not that sexually active, and also strongly believed the importance of waiting to get married to have sex, he may have prevented that from happening. This is a very common occurrence, when a non-sexually active partner engage with a partner with a wild sexual past, more likely than not, the one with more experience can influence the other negatively.

      The biggest red flag that is so obvious that everyone seems to be missing is they WERE the friends that the topic at hand is about. They were the friends that we are all warned about. The friends we all have that uneasy feeling about. They would have been the ones that they would have told you not to worry about lol.
      This is why I don't trust any man that has a female friend/"homie"/"sister". That connection is different than their friendships with their male friends. It always will be and this is the ultimate risk. They can say in their friendship that they have no desire for each other whatsoever but that's never entirely the case. They usually have an active emotional relationship and let the right circumstances present themselves and it will inevitably lead to something more. Like this.
      Men and women can be associates and maybe friends of friends but friends friends/"besties"/"sister" Nah, y'all fooling yallselves and keeping them as a backup bae in all reality.

      @@sunkissed6413 In the majority of situations like these if the person you’re in a relationship with is not transparent about ex’s and females/ males they call friends, that means they still have romantic ties with their ex’s and no boundaries with their so called friends.
      Neither partner should ever want each other to feel insecure about anyone that’s in their life and if they truly care for each other there should be complete transparency. At some point you should be able to meet friends and ex wives/ex husbands if they were married and had children.
      Those people should have complete respect for you and respect for your time and space with your partner. Your partner is the one who should demand it. If that’s not present in your relationship the buck stops with you.

If you're realistic with yourself and KNOW you have light to no boundaries, then you obviously can't. If your friends respect your spouse and boundaries are set, and there are no insecurities to work through then it may work for you. All I know is when my partner of many years left me for dead my friends were there to see my thru it so I value true friendships.

    I loved the interview, but I don’t agree with taking a song laced with curses to make it worship/ gospel song. To me it is crossing the line. I know a lot of people will say it’s not that serious but that’s why the standard for being a Christian is what it is today. I understand no one is perfect and will never be, however, if someone is fornicating, fighting, cursing, listening to music that glorifies that life, they should not be leading worship. Let God work on you first. Peoples lives and souls are at stake.

    Laterras thank you for being courageous in speaking your truth to this couple. I hope this young lady was listening or plays this episode back and processes for herself. This man is telling you who he is RIGHT NOW: he likes the company of women. He attaches quickly and being alone is not an option. You are ok with being with yourself. He says he is "ok" , "cool with that.." not connecting with the part of him that he most needs: connection with other people (women), if it would make you feel better.. Trust, these promises don't get easier once you both say "I do" . Resentments do set in. We are at 57:12 mark and this young lady has been giving her side back the entire interview, while seated next to the man she is to wed in 3 weeks?! You don't need to be a therapist to see this is not your person. Mad red flags. Run!

      @boydsings Рік тому +2

      I don't comment, but L. asking specifically about the possible resentment piece stuck out 4REAL!! That's going to be a problem because he is basically cutting a piece of the social portion of his personality to appease her. The opposite personality types of introvert and extrovert take ALOT of work!! Not everyone survives that!

    Great episode. When I was getting married 18 years ago my fiancee said I couldn't invite a close male friend of mine. I wasn't happy but I respected his wishes. That close friend stopped talking to me. Years later I ran into him and he told me that he was in love with me for many years and was planning to object when the pastor asked. He said "I stopped talking to you because I was hurt and I still love you." That was my last conversation with that man.

      That’s one of the main reasons I don’t feel men and women can really just be friends, and ESPECIALLY when both are attractive people. No man really just wants to be friends with an attractive woman. My husband and I don’t even play those types of games with opposite Dec friends. Nope!

    This was so good and a MUCH NEEDED topic of discussion!!!!!! When you implement EXTREME BOUNDARIES it eliminates soooo much unnecessary stuff!!!! So much! But, when a person has brokenness & areas of deliverance needed, they will never see this subject matter clearly. Some of these "friendships" are void fillers and when God is trying to do a new thing and finally connect you with your purpose partner, this can be super harmful to that endeavor and possibly result in a missed season!!! 😔😕 But, here's the kicker... you don't have to wait until you start dating to operate within boundaries. Single (in the Kingdom) doesn't mean free to do whatever. All things are lawful but not expedient. We should be free to proceed without all the fluff once God brings us our person. 🫶🏾

I’m a Christian and I am waiting and want a Man of God who understand if he wants me to be his wife that very important to me! So, I pray that the Lord will keep me as I date my future husband before we marry. I trust God will give me my hearts desire because it does line up with his Word and Will! Help me remain abstinent once I met him Lord 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
    I love love and I love to see two people who really take the time to do relationships the right way. Blessings to them and we attend the same church.

He would tell me a whole lot of stuff about his past, his experiences, women he had and he would confide in me as a friend. Now that we are getting married oooh boy! these things come popping in my head and i find myself thinking "i wish i didn't know that about him". I see lots of red flags here. I’m not shocked or surprised at all that they had sex beforehand, I knew by how they first met. I don’t think he’s ready. I hope she guards her heart and has truly sought God about her decision. The fact that she knows he needs “other” females is problematic. I pick up resentment about her not being okay with the other women. Friends maybe, marriage nope.

    I wished I knew what I know now at 25 plus. I try to tell my girls don’t settle if you don’t feel safe step back. Relationship are work, his heart seems to be for her. Sometimes we grow differently. Men are taught to be hunters and they take full advantage unless they are taught better. GOD principles will create this security and trust, because it’s a conscious decision to be selfless! Maturity says cheating isn’t worth it! But once it’s done there’s no trust. GOD can redeem, but it’s work!!! For them to sit and be vulnerable is lessons being learned and taught! Love it❤
