    I've always fancied when a terrarium looks natural. This is a great way to make it look awesome and natural, but without having to go full bio setup.

    I must admit, I've often been tempted to do a "junk yard" style setup. It'll have pipes to climb, and what looks like old enjine parts for hides etc. Will have to check out the DIY shops in my area :)

    I've heard they don't climb but have also found it to be very incorrect! I think most people keeping them as pets think stuff like that because they don't actually come out and move around until really late at night so the owners never actually see them moving about, but mine climb like crazy. I'm about to have to buy fake plants because they kill all the real ones when they fall off their branches. They squash them lol.

      My 8 yr old BP climbed 10 ft later twice lol she has her own room (her Dad's man cav) and loves the top shelf in the closet. She uses his clothes to cimb to the top and she will hang her head of the edge so she has a view of the entire room.

      Pennee Layne LOVES to climb, she is in and out of her vines all the time, I gave her some new vines today and a new hide and she perfered her vine over her new hide lol..she was pretending to be a tree snake and curled up on her vine this afternoon.

    You are correct about ball pythons climbing. My 5 year old female pastel ball python spends so much time climbing that she destroyed the plastic plants and continuously pulled the suction cups holding them off of the glass. She regularly trashes her decorations in her 36”X18”X18” 50 US Gallon glass terrarium. She will moved into a 48”X24”X24” 120 US Gallon habitat that will be bio active with live plants once I finish building it.

    What size cage should an adult ball python be in?

    • @chai2811
      @chai2811 6 років тому +1

      Blovee3
      Generally speaking, your enclosure needs to be at least 0,75 times the size of the snake long on one side, but I personally recommend to have one side of the enclosure be as long as the snake itself.
      Since ball pythons can get anywhere between 3ft-5ft (90cm-150cm) (6ft (180cm) in some rare cases) it will really depend on your individual snake, but usually a 4ftx2ftx2ft (120cmx60cmx60cm) enclosure will be suiting for an adult ball python.

    I love this set up! I’m hoping to get a ball python in a few months and am doing a bunch of research and while I’d like to do a set up like this, how do I clean it? Lol. Most tank set up videos I see never talk about how to maintain it and I’d really like to give my snake as natural looking an environment as possible

    Thank you.. Ur shows are always spot on. This was exactly what I was looking for. One question is that coconut fiber really okay? It was the first one I used and I loved it but it was super dry n dusty, thought it would eventually clog the heat ducts and cause problems. I think he misses it too I’ve been switching it up a lot the forest one was way too pokey Aspen is best so far but I don’t like how it doesn’t absorb water near as well. Definitely going back to the coconut fiber. I also had a problem with constant 70 75 humidity. Heat lamp during day helps keep it at 55-60 and 85 temp. Cold side is 75 to 80 temp and high humidity but I know how to fix it. All Thanks to you. There are other great You-tubers.Without y’all my snake would be plotting my death stuck she’d an all if I never seen any of yalls videos.

    I have a question. When you first get a ball python, you're supposed to leave them alone for 3-4 days (no handling or disturbing them) to get accustomed to their new home, and you're also supposed to change the water everyday. *How do you change the water if you're supposed to let them settle in?*

    I've dealt with pythons and boas and boas definitely have a better temperament. I've never had a ball python but I'm seriously considering getting one. I'm 55 and considering the lifespan of the ball python is the only thing holding me back. I'd have to find someone who has snakes and takes good care of them to leave it to in case I kick the bucket.

    Has anyone randomly had mites spawn in the substrate? I want to get a ball python soon and I've heard that this can happen. I've also heard that you need to move around and turn up the substrate every couple of days so that the mites can't spawn. Are there mite eggs in the packaged substrate sometimes?

    So the only heat source they need is a heat mat? I have a plastic stackable cage. It's a good size 36"X12"X19". Will that work okay for a ball python? And for humidity you just mist it with a spray bottle? Thanks! Thinking about getting a ball python!

I have a under tank heater but I mounted it on the side and i have a dome light bulb that sort of acts like a heater since without it on the temp is like 78-79. But it's at like 87F right now. Humidity is fine but he snake is stayin in the corner of the warm side all coiled up kind of near the heater, he's been right there for some hours now. Is he just getting use to the tank or??

    hello, i have a question!! i recently bought all the stuff i needed for a ball (minus the ball itself) for a great deal it included a 40 gallon breeder. is it possible to get a baby up in this? i'm going for a hatchling but i know the size will scare it. could i fill it as much as possible and make the baby safe or should i bite the bullet and get a smaller tank for the time being?
