While I agree the UI looks ugly, there was a more concerning thing I’ve heard that UA-cam is planning on doing. Apparently, UA-cam is planning on FORCING ads into uploaded videos. I don’t mean as they are now, I mean instead they will be edited IN the video so adblockers can’t detect them. The content creator has little to no choice in the matter as well. I don’t know how far along they are on it, or if they canceled the idea. I only heard about it yesterday (at the time of this comment).
I love how UA-cam spends all their time rearranging the layout over and over instead of actually fixing the problems on the site. Just as long as they *look* busy, right?
I was really irritated when that UI became a reality for me but few days later it went back to normal and it felt sooo good to be back. I hope they never change it again, it was awful, it was dog sh1t and I had so many problems with that UI I wanted to never use YT again =_="
Yeah I still have what I guess is the 'old' UI, on my PC at least. I had no idea that they changed it. Here's hoping I never see it because that new one doesn't look very good.
Another recent UA-cam change that made things worse: removing the "Move to top of Playlist" and "Move to bottom of Playlist" options when chosing what to do with a video in a playlist. I tend to have an unhealthy abount of playlists that i try and manage, and the removed the last feature that made 1,000+ video playlists manageable in some way. I now use a Chrome plugin that restores that and more, it allows you to select multiple videos to move or delete, a filter that allows you to search by either video title or channel name. It's still not perfect as you still have to deal with going up and down the 1k+ video playlists each time you edit a placement, but its very functional. I'm sorry but I shouldn't need a f**king plugin to make a part of UA-cam function right.
I get a weird thing that happens after I watch a video. There's always a suggested video in a completely foreign language, and I keep saying not interested, but they keep coming back.
It's so crazy that YT on 2005 used to have the 5 start rating on search results so you could decide if a video was worth a click or not. So now we're kinda going back to that, but with Twitter's format. About the bot thing, I use the word blocklist for that. It's usually better than banning them individually.
The notion of a youtube community notes is hilarious, because the people that work at youtube are terrified of what the community has to say. Comments disappearing for no reason, not breaking the tos, containing any profanity whatsoever. disappears anyway because you talked about a subject they don't like. If you keep trying to edit your post to get around the word causing it to be flagged, your comment just doesn't get seen. They'll never allow anything that doesn't fit their narrative. Fun fact, there hasn't been a single time in human history where restricting the speech of another person was done by "the good guy."
Thank you so much for bringing up the hidden comments issue. Even talking about it usually causes comments to get deleted. Someone needs to see this, more people need to understand. Most of the time your comment will appear as visible and published to you, but to everyone else it's not even there. Other times it may even only be visible to accounts made in a certain time period: like my older account from 2013 can see some comments that aren't visible to my newer account that was made in 2017. YT is just such a joke now. Unusable.
Right now I just pop the video out so its its own little window and then go to comments. But I would much rather just have the comments on the side. There was a windows 10 app that did this but I can’t remember the name and it was great until youtube started breaking api shit.
I think you covered all of the major concerns most of us have over these things. The UI threw me off right away it was a weird change but this happens on sites a lot. But the bots and a community notes style system are actual problems.
This has been appearing randomly for me for the last several months. I can comment. Come back later, and it is all shifted around. Return the next day and it is the old way.
Yes? My youtube UI hasn't changed yet? There's no community notes? So how can someone notice a change that hasn't happened yet. The bots are nothing new though.
Why do people need to keep messing up stuff that already works? (Also apparently comments can get automatically delete due to word choice, I think? Example: "dam" with an "n". Sime day we'll be unable to form proper grammer and words at this rate, between sensitivities and text limits. :S )
I've literally been searching for ways to revert the changes back and feel like banging my head against the wall... Why the **** wouldn't they give users the CHOICE??? Why can't it be like a toggle or something rather than forcing people to use the new layout? I could almost POSSIBLY get used to the new layout (even though I don't like it) IF it weren't for the fact that it's buggy to all hell!... God I hate Google...
Haven't had the UI change happen for me but I've been noticing over the years the continued attempts to slowly force everyone to watch more unskippable ads on shorter videos. Went from 15 second skippable ad every 15 minutes to possibly two ads back to back every 15 minutes, now we have 60 seconds of unskippable ads that can appear on videos that are 30 minutes long and still only get a minute and thirty seconds of time till the next batch interrupts the video, all with a bs promise to "lessen the number of ads appearing if you watch the entire thing" while having the last one be a 90 second, skippable ad more often than not.
about this youtube's new UI thing, I remember starting to see it first about a year ago, it rarely happens when i open a video on incognito mode (not logged in) and have not seen it once while logged in my account
It would be great to see a version of community notes on UA-cam, but knowing UA-cam it's going to be terrible. You're either going to need to be an "approved" notes poster/voter or it will be disabled on channels that need the most notes (mainstream news, white house, etc).
Nope actually from what they have said and this is that to actually help combat disinformation around the election so a lot of the political channels and videos will have them
I actually like having the comments next to the video. Makes time stamp comments easier to get back to when you don't need to scroll anywhere to continue reading the comments alongside the video.
They're experimenting with this layout with batches of users. They forced this layout on me as well. I complained about it in the Feedback section and on Reddit, and after about 2-3 weeks, they reverted the UI back to the old one
ive seen that Ui pop up when looking something up on incognito mode and thought of it as a programming bug at first since it basically just swapped the locations of videos and comments and with that implementation of community context notes i gotta say "that kinda reminds me of twitter" and that entire mimicking someone elses UI in an update reminds me of a social network platform that was pretty much acknowledged as required for everyone in the place i live with a pretty unique UI and interaction progress suffering from a city wide mass exodus (doesnt sound like much but it was the entire userbase) when they dropped exceptionless all of that just to "generalize their image" by carbon copying facebook at that time in every way except games color and name
I think it's really nice to be able to read comments while watching the video still. Only thing they really messed up is that the video title and details should be left under the video rather than the top of the comments.
I had this for awhile about 2 months ago and it went away. I did also think it was garbage and complained. Maybe I was one of the first people to get it because I didn't see anyone else talking about it at the time. The annoying thing is these NSFW bots and scam bots are everywhere and are obvious but google does nothing. One wrong speak word from actual users and instant comment deletion.
I actually like the new ui because the one I have allows me to scroll through the comments whilst seeing the video, and it's the same with the description
I remember a couple weeks back, maybe a month ago, I noticed they screwed with theater mode, I have my second monitor that I usually browser internet/use discord/etc., I'd use it to watch youtube in theater mode, however doing that now makes the video tiny to the point where I either have to exit the livechat or switch the chat to "popout". I don't remember this being an issue months ago.

those would of been downvoted into spam years and years ago... Now disliking a comment does nothing on YT.
@OldSalty78 meh, that doesn't bother me as much. What really INFURIATES me is people sayin "first" on peoples vids
lots of censorship is whats going on
Gotta ramp up for election season
Only for one group of course
(R)
Like I'm going to trust "community notes" on a platform that auto deletes half my posts with zero explanation or transparency.
Yeah, I got that UI, I straight up thought my laptop was bugging out
UA-cam DOES NOT need to look like Facebook!!! 🤦
Right?! The UA-cam in the 2000s and early 2010s is the peak.
First trying to 'copying' TikTok and now Facebook. What the hell they were thinking?
Hero hei is someone’s hero
UA-cam community notes are going to be hilarious for the AAA gaming scene.
UA-cam really needs a competitor
Odysee and Rumble are great, sadly people just refuse to use them despite being better or simply don't know them
@@JonnyHorseman I tried to use Odysse and it wouldn't let me upload videos as it wanted some kind of digital currency, it had ads for their premium, unrelated video suggestions and you can get striked there by copyright trolls just like in UA-cam. Really no point to that website.
Problem is these otherwise sites need advertisers, Google owns most of the online space for that.... Thats why none succeed.
@@wallakfir90 Odysee used to be better but it got killed when the gov went after their crypto currency, now its slowly dying since it doesn't have funding. Rumble isn't bad though its search feature is awful and it has a clunky UI.
@@JonnyHorsemanodysee has terrible UI
While I agree the UI looks ugly, there was a more concerning thing I’ve heard that UA-cam is planning on doing.
Apparently, UA-cam is planning on FORCING ads into uploaded videos.
I don’t mean as they are now, I mean instead they will be edited IN the video so adblockers can’t detect them. The content creator has little to no choice in the matter as well.
I don’t know how far along they are on it, or if they canceled the idea. I only heard about it yesterday (at the time of this comment).
"Lets change something that doesn't need changing"
i had the new UI for like 2 weeks, until uBlock rolled out an update.. and finally i got the good ol' UI
I think community notes would be great IF they are a way for youtube to reduce its censorship criteria, but we all know that isn't going to happen.
There should be settings to switch between UI interfaces.
I love how UA-cam spends all their time rearranging the layout over and over instead of actually fixing the problems on the site. Just as long as they *look* busy, right?
Graphic design staff is cheaper than actual programmers.
@@rcrawford42 Money really shouldn't be a concern.
Some friendly fire is to be expected in the war against the machines.
I was watching rev's video talking about nijisanji
Ah, yes. Their AX converts were cancelled and Nijisisters tried to spin the cancellation as "threat of violence."
I was really irritated when that UI became a reality for me but few days later it went back to normal and it felt sooo good to be back. I hope they never change it again, it was awful, it was dog sh1t and I had so many problems with that UI I wanted to never use YT again =_="
The UI changes have been annoying I've had my UI changed 3-4 times over the last 2 months. It gets really annoying seeing it change randomly.
Theres a reason I use the UA-cam Redux addon. These new UIs can kiss my ass.
I concur. Sadly, people need to learn to use a different site than just UA-cam.
What’s weird for me is that my browser normally has the old UI, but when I open an incognito window, it’s the new one. Logic? What the heck is that?
Probably has to do with account settings.
Yeah I still have what I guess is the 'old' UI, on my PC at least. I had no idea that they changed it. Here's hoping I never see it because that new one doesn't look very good.
Gotta justify their existence to the investors by changing shit that doesn't need to be changed.
As always investors ruin everything by existing. I don't mean small money investors either.
That's just one of life's constants, ain't it. Y'know; death, taxes, youtube UI "updates" actually being downdates masquerading as updates.
*:D*
'Concerning stuff', so to speak! 👀
Every time I see a Hero Hei video it reminds me that I haven't finished A certain Scientific Railgun
Over the past 5 months to 10 months my UA-cam has gone through about 6 UI's
I think Sully G said it best, “Someone said ‘Graphic design is my passion’ and made this”
Mine updated to that layout a few months ago, it was awful. It eventually changed back and I am so grateful.
Thanks for the Info. It's nice to know about changes.
The new UI is hideous holy shit
I get a weird thing that happens after I watch a video. There's always a suggested video in a completely foreign language, and I keep saying not interested, but they keep coming back.
UA-cam has been getting so much worse. Out of nowhere I got two community strikes for private playlists of mine that I've had for many years now.
Unusable.
Pineas 3.0
Mine's still the same. Either way, not too worried 'cause that wouldn't surprise me if it's fixable with an extension that will undoubtedly come out.
"If it aint broke, we'll break it and act like we are doing something about it."
I have always wanted scrollable comments on the side so I can read and watch the video at the same time on pc like I can on mobile
Honestly that doesn't sound too bad, but I think that they should give you the choice
There's extensions for that. The one I use makes the video smaller and pins it to the corner of the window rather than squishing the comments, though.
All I want is the option, don’t want to change it for everyone.
Right now I just pop the video out so its its own little window and then go to comments. But I would much rather just have the comments on the side. There was a windows 10 app that did this but I can’t remember the name and it was great until youtube started breaking api shit.
Notif gang
I think you covered all of the major concerns most of us have over these things. The UI threw me off right away it was a weird change but this happens on sites a lot. But the bots and a community notes style system are actual problems.
I remember having this months ago but idk what point but it turned back to normal again for me.
THANK YOU!
I think youtube need a little bit of money
This has been appearing randomly for me for the last several months. I can comment. Come back later, and it is all shifted around. Return the next day and it is the old way.
UA-cam try not to alienate the customers challenge: IMPOSSIBLE!
It took you *THIS long* to notice
Pintube
Caught a glimpse of this a while back, hoping now one of my many extensions for UA-cam circumvents the change when it rolls out proper.
I'm getting 1 minute or more unskippable ads on my laptop, 6 second ads are a blessing, the ads are still skippable in UA-cam's mobile version.
PinTube
UA-cam needs to do something about those corn bots, especially the ones that copy other people comments and bot the upvotes.
God I hate Google...
thankfully, I immediately looked up a guide on how to undo this change through installing a few extensions.
this is so strange, i just saw another youtuber using this exact misaka image for a thumbnail yesterday
I agree. In my case, the UI doesn't match the screen and 1/3 top part of the video is black it's annoying.
about this youtube's new UI thing, I remember starting to see it first about a year ago, it rarely happens when i open a video on incognito mode (not logged in) and have not seen it once while logged in my account
I had that U.I. change a few weeks and then it changed to be more like the previous style.
As one famous frenchman once said:
_"Welp... off to visit your [Insert UA-cam competitor here]"_
This happened to me a month ago but it’s been reverted back and has been normal since.
It would be great to see a version of community notes on UA-cam, but knowing UA-cam it's going to be terrible. You're either going to need to be an "approved" notes poster/voter or it will be disabled on channels that need the most notes (mainstream news, white house, etc).
Nope actually from what they have said and this is that to actually help combat disinformation around the election so a lot of the political channels and videos will have them
Oh the UI thing! yeah i had this happened to me, but they switched it back a few days later.
Everytime YT does a change and then asks you if you like it, the answer is always
NO!
UA-cam community notes would be awesome!
ive seen that Ui pop up when looking something up on incognito mode and thought of it as a programming bug at first since it basically just swapped the locations of videos and comments
and with that implementation of community context notes i gotta say "that kinda reminds me of twitter"
and that entire mimicking someone elses UI in an update reminds me of a social network platform that was pretty much acknowledged as required for everyone in the place i live with a pretty unique UI and interaction progress suffering from a city wide mass exodus (doesnt sound like much but it was the entire userbase) when they dropped exceptionless all of that just to "generalize their image" by carbon copying facebook at that time in every way except games color and name
Firefox also getting throttled super hard by youtube. 30 seconds to a full minute waiting for the site to even load when opening youtube in a new tab.
I think it's really nice to be able to read comments while watching the video still. Only thing they really messed up is that the video title and details should be left under the video rather than the top of the comments.
The community notes thing is gonna be the same scenario for community translations, which eventually got removed
One wrong speak word from actual users and instant comment deletion.
it went back to normal so quickly for me I forgot it even happened
That's exactly how UA-cam looks in my tablet when it's horizontal and not full screen...
I actually like the new ui because the one I have allows me to scroll through the comments whilst seeing the video, and it's the same with the description
This update rolled to me like a month or two ago already. You can fix it with a simple ublock origin filter.
I had this ui change for about a week and a half a few months ago, but it was reverted in the end
It removed descriptions and theater mode is extra annoying now
I've seen something similar months ago. It makes my brain hurt, hope they won't make this permanent
The only concerning thing im worried about is the amount of ads
