    i think youre the first person/detailer that actually showscontent of them polishing the whole car, door panels, trunk, etc. other content creators usually just show the hood and call it a day, yes they go through the whole car but it has always been intimidating to me to do a whole car because no other person has showed how they do the whole car and you did, huge props to you!

    You should do a video on polishing FAQs for beginners as well. For example, how long should that realistically take for a beginner? How many pads should someone go through?

    • @marcusbertram8475
      @marcusbertram8475 Рік тому +2

      Sorry for the late reply, but as a general rule of thumb, the pad will dictate when it is ready to be changed. I typically polish one panel, check my pad for any build up or residue (depending on cutting vs polishing) and change/clean the pad if necessary. I always keep a distilled water spray bottle next to me when a polisher is in my hands. Lots of times, the polish/compound will just need re activated. Polish a few passes, stop momentarily, check your pad, spritz with water if necessary, and it has a tendency to re juvinate any dried polish/ compound in the pad.
      Speed will all be dependant upon several factors. Are you in sun or shade? What type of polisher are you using? Are you cutting or polishing? Is it a single step? How many steps are you going to skip? IPA wipe, strip wash, clay bar, etc..
      All are necessary evils but all depends on how much time you want to invest and results you are after. Good luck 👍

    Another great video..... been binge watching quite a few of your videos. Great explanation and very beneficial. As a consumer, I would love to see a end-to-end video of steps to wash/detail/polish in preparation for ceramic/graphene coating. What should be done and what shouldn't be done along with good products to use for each and not to use. I know it's a lot but trying to piece together each step from multiple videos is also confusing..... at least for me just getting started.

    People need to know about many of the "correction" products that have fillers. So many people will do a cut n polish with a line that has such fillers and carriers that remain after a polish that's not truly polished. Always do an IPA wipe after a polish to ensure the fillers are removed and to ensure you know whether or not you've truly polished the finish. That's why a person can get a "detail" and 2-3 washes down the road, those fillers are washed away and Bam! There's the marks that weren't polished out. I stick with a killer, water based product Ceram-X from CSI that just doesn't mess with fillers. Some situations like you mentioned might benefit from them, but the reality is fillers cover up a 💩 polish job too.

    Very great video, polishing is something that I haven't done before but want to try soon! Do you have any tips or tricks on what to do around chrome / plastic trim? Do you tape off the area or just try and steer clear? I'd imagine they don't take too well to polish.

    • @2Shine55
      @2Shine55 2 роки тому +1

      Yes sir! You are correct about taping off areas that you don't want to affected by the polish. However, I've only done 2 paint corrections both 2 steps. I recommend just do a lot of research but most importantly don't be intimidated and take your time. Don't use a heavy grit polish or pad. Start out very light then work your way up if you need to. Hope this helps.

    1. We first sort those deep scratches (preparation,sanding, painting, polishing), then do the full paint correction of whole car...
    2. We do painting of deep scratches mid way of full paint correction... (after wash...iron and tar decontamination and clay bar decontamination)

      Compound is to smoothen the jagged clearcoat,and polish is to make it gloss all around,so after those 2 if you do it correctly you dont need to worry about rain..after polish wipe it of with ipa to make sure no polish residue then do some waxing,polymer sealant or ceramic coating to protect your car from the weather & have high gloss shine,water beading & sheathing.

    About how much did that customer end up paying if you don't mind me asking? Any advice on finding someone local who performs services like this? All the commercial places don't take attention to detail, it's just how quick they can get it done...

    I forgot to ask, is HD speed something you would recommend using prior to applying a ceramic coat? Or, would the fillers or wax or whatever need to be removed before applying a ceramic coat?
    What do you used before a ceramic coat?

    • @imjoshv
      @imjoshv  2 роки тому +4

      Not before ceramic. When you do the final wipe before applying ceramic it would pull out some of the fillers. So to prep for ceramic you’d want to use a true polish with no fillers

      I used 3d speed which actually has protection in it! This is a quick 1 step option.

    This sounds like what is done to hair, your hair looks dry and dull a glaze is placed on the hair as sort of a filler to make it appear healthier and shiny.

    Hey Josh would you ever buy a gas powered pressure washer for detailing cars?

    • @smitttty
      @smitttty 2 роки тому +1

      hey, I'm not josh but I own a mobile detailing company and I wouldn't. you can use an electric pressure washer and get the same results with less weight and not having to worry about gas, especially the prices they are nowadays. your choice though.

    • @imjoshv
      @imjoshv  2 роки тому +1

      Many professional detail trailers/skid mounts come with gas pressure washers… when I first started that’s what came in the trailer I got. But now there are so many good electric ones that’s what I prefer, but a gas one will definitely work. They are typically higher powered so try to lower your psi by adjusting your tips or just don’t get too close to the car
