I remember when I was a kid, making bread with my mum. It was always wholemeal and I don't recall her using any fat. She did use a damp tea towel, cling film wasn't a thing in the 60's, and she brushed the tops of the bread with milk before putting them in the oven. I cheat now and use a bread machine. The kneading brings back memories. Haha

I use my kitchen aid for my daily bread making lol...but I much prefer kneading white flour! My arms are still a bit sore.
