I wish people would just listen to his words and voice and not think of him as a troubled, tragic icon. He was a genius who had helped out so many, and always gave backstage passes to fans who couldn’t afford to buy tickets and put them on his guest list. He stood up for the underdog, he was a true gentleman and a musical and artistic genius, poet, and human being. I’m a recovering heroin and meth addict. But I don’t identify my weaknesses. I’m so much more. I’m a father, brother, son, artist, musician, poet, I love music, I love learning, and I’m always working on improving myself. I started going to the gym recently and am doing great with that. Addiction is only a small part of someone. He was an amazing human being and that’s how we should remember him, for all the things he gave for us, the fans.
+10 years clean from heroin/opiates myself. Grew up in south king county suburbs of Seattle in the 90s. Songs like "down in a hole" tells the story. Dirt is different than Man in the Box
H was everywhere in Seattle at the time Andrew Wood overdosed.
Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those musicians weren't introduced to it in those Mother Love Bone days, unfortunately.

Who gives a fuck? His whole legacy isn't his drug addiction and you people act like he was the only one using drugs at the time. He was an incredible musician who had an unfortunate addiction, but that's not all that he was.
People gaf because we try to understand. A lot of lessons can be learned from him. He was a genius, brilliant and it came so easy for him to the point he even got bored with AIC. He was other worldly in his prime and in a flash, it was like he was gone and sang his death before it happened. I work in addiction and recovery. I support musicians struggling with addiction and I want to understand and like to think he's blessing us even beyond the music he made.
Demri used to hang out with other bands while AIC was gone. Im guessing she was introduced at that time…….she was actually dating another musical person while Layne was gone….of which Layne confronted this particular fella. IDK….but I put my $ on Dem first - for making it clear she was very much her own person, not to mention a bit of a manipulator/used her looks. Layne was just caught in ‘love’ crossfire.
Most likely it was her. With that said Layne being a famous musician in Seattle who was already doing drugs I would guess even if he never met her he would have tried it regardless. I mean he started with it before AIC even really blew up.
I've seen pics of her sitting on so many musicians laps. She was a groupie IMO. I feel like Layne deserved better. Unpopular opinion.
@@klm4446- can’t say much since I didnt know them personally, but it’s hard not to have the same opinion. Im not a Demri fan, at all.
@@danabomb100 I think Demri really loved Layne, she chose him before he got famous. I feel she was more into heroin than Layne and Layne's lifestyle was a problem for her, maybe I'm wrong, but I think her behaviors could've been influenced by these two things.

Dosent really matter who started who on heroin ...both made that choice,everyone has a choice .
They were a couple and they both used the needle so I think it's clear one of the two turned the other. Probably their friends want to protect their memory and don't say publicly who was. I believe what Bacolas said, even if Layne was injected by a new friend,as he sang in Junkhead. Some months ago I read Xana Lafuente stated Demri tried to introduce her husband to heroin,so it seems she had that habit.
true, VH was never into heroin. same thing was said about courtney and kurt. Personally I always thought demri got layne into heroin. but it was kurt that got courtney back into it. she wouldn't ever inject, he did it for her. she was more into pills. either way, just sad.
Layne got Layne into heroin! Layne made the choice and the person that chooses to take heroin doesn’t take it because they were forced to. I chose all my demons in my life unfortunately!
