I'm a 53 year old man and I am still baffled how we have not come across an artist such as Layne Staley. His vocals are absolutely amazing, and I'm still grieving his loss. He was such an ambassador of grunge music and I am so honored to have been alive when he was in his prime.
I still can't believe him, Kurt and Chris are gone.....but yet, I am so thankful to have been around when they were still putting out iconic music. When I play my guitar to these songs, I get tears in my eyes because I feel so blessed to play them. Godspeed to you Layne, Chris and Kurt.
Thoughts and Prayers to our current generation......you will never see a better period than this.

My sister used to listen to AIC all the time, she took her own life in 2015 when I was 19 back then I was all into rap and hip hop and didn’t see why she liked this music so much so I listened to them after her passing and haven’t stopped this far, I listen to them otw to and home from work they are my favorite band and I understand and feel the lyrics on a level I never could when she was here, all I wanna do is connect with her and sing like Layne and I can’t because it’s too late. Rest in peace Samantha I love you and will forever take on the rock name in our family! ✊🏼

    This is a true story:
When I was 18, we said goodbye to Layne, and I was really sad. I read that layne had a foundation made in his name. I wrote a small letter to them, explaining how much Layne meant to all of us, and a lot of our youth struggles with drugs, depression, etc. I wrote that I was an addict too. Since I was 15. I also sent $1. I was definitely not expecting a letter written back to me from Layne's mom. Her name is Nancy McCullum, and she runs the foundation. She sent me a poster of aic from the Moore Theater, some stickers, and in solemn disbelief, the program from Laynes celebration of life (or funeral) The program had the names Chris Cornell, Mark Lanagan from Screaming Trees, and Nancy and Ann Wilson from Heart. Chris Cornell and Heart did a cover of "Ring them Bells" written by Bob Dylan, and Mark Lanagan read a poem Layne had written. Anyway, I never thought that sending $1 to Laynes foundation would merit anything! Nancy, Laynes mom said encouraging words to me in regards to my opiate dependency. After years of on again off again substance abuse, I'm finally 150 days sober. It gets better. Thank you Nancy, Laynes mom, for the awesome keepsakes, and for giving birth and raising my favorite singer. God bless and take life one day at a time.

Ok so check this out--- you say they died on the same date 8 yrs apart. Chris and Chester both died the same way and Chester died on Chris' b-day.
I seriously think there is something evil linked to a lot these stars deaths.
Think about how many rock stars and Hellywood stars that either died young or had someone they were very close to die in a weird way. Such as Eric Clapton's son fell out his apartments high rise window. Many of their loved ones were murdered. Idk, but personally I believe anyone that is allowed to become an Icon has to make a deal with the devil. I think they seriously make an oath of sacrifice. A blood sacrifice.
If this seems way too heavy for you then just open your mind and research it all for yourself and make your own decision.
Speaking of "Decision" - go watch Alice and Chains video to "It's your decision!"
Notice the illuminati sacrifice, sex, and cannibalism clearly portrayed through out the video. Makes ya think..........

I was recently reconnected with a dude I went to high school with YEARSSSss ago and somehow Nirvana came up and he mentioned how he remembered I was a big fan. We got to talking and he straight up said he didn't think Kurt committed suicide...made me kind of dredge up some past memories of conversations back in the day about how he'd had enough heroin in him to kill an elephant and somehow was able to pull a shotty trigger with his toe?
Honestly....I have been a drug fan, an alcohol fan (which is a drug), and if you told me I could win a million dollars if I could position a shotgun into my mouth and pull the trigger with my TOE when I was f_cked up.....there is just no way. I'm not a police detective, but the evidence and existence of motives by Courtney just obviously imply something else was going on.

It's haunting to see Layne look right into the camera, singing about being trapped in a box in his own sh*t, imploring for someone to come and save him, considering how his own story ended: a recluse in his own condo, trapped in the hell of addiction until he passed. Hope his soul is at peace. He was a legend.

      Stay with me awhile
      Rise above the vile
      Name my final rest
      Poured into my chest
Into the orchard, I walk peering way past the gate
Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait
      Drained by the coldest caress
      Stalking shadows ahead
      Halo of death
      All I see is departure
Mourner's lament but it's me who's the martyr
      Pledge yourself to me
      Never leave me be
      Sweat breaks on my brow
      Given time ends now
Into the orchard, I walk peering way past the gate
Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait
      Drained by the coldest caress
      Stalking shadows ahead
      Halo of death
      All I see is departure
Mourner's lament but it's me who's the martyr
      Spirit painted sin
      Embers neath my skin
      Veiled in pale embrace
      Reached and touched my face
Into the orchard, I walk peering way past the gate
Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait
      Drained by the coldest caress

This song is a blue print for Laynes addiction issues! I wish he he loved himself as much as his fandom! I give his friends a lot of credit ! They all kept reaching outtohimtocome record with them .Theyknew what a talent and great guy he was .The sad thing is he couldn’t out run the devil.I lost my daughter five years ago to the samething .Pplsay “ why didn’t you tell her to stop” ! I did more than anyone could imagine! Anyone who’s dealt with an addict knows that it’s not easy and I tried !I tear myself up everyday over it.IMaybe I could have done more and I hate myself for being a failure as a mom.I paid for clinics ,I got her therapy,I thought I was doing all I could but I guess not ! I hate that this epidemic is taking so many wonderful and loved ppl from us .I pray that you stay away from that life .Not only did I lose my child but my life’s over too.Ill never be happy again.Plz don’t put your love ones thru this .Dont do any drugs .Please!

It's not always that easy what starts out of something fun takes on a whole new life and suddenly the table turns. I'm not making excuses I speak from experience seriously I don't know how long I can suffer from depression before I even knew what the fuck it was and then my marriage to the second psychopath 16 years of the dysfunctional abusive marriage. I'm seriously surprised that my children are normal well-adjusted adult adults at this point. Me? I have been single since 2005. Never thought that would happen. No I live alone I work alone I am alone all the time the drugs are my only friend. Perhaps one day I regain the strength and clean up my Act. Or I'll just crash that motorcycle into that oak tree and get it over with. But I can't do that because Jesus Christ said that's a sin and despite how fucked up I am there's some things I still believe in. I just don't believe I have another beer. Not making light of your loss. My grandmother told me when my mother died no parents should I live their child. So I did everything I could short of quitting. To ensure that I Stay Alive until after my father's passing.
