Kids of the internet generations will not know the fun of going idle in a zone just for the music. Or at least, specifically going idle because that's the only way to hear the song. And the sadness when the only way to play a song is when you reach the right level.

Game music (not necessarily the overall quality of the games) has *massively* improved as time goes on. not all songs are iconic and memorable, but many are, and they're not as repetitive (older games had very short loops due to hardware restrictions, wheras now you can have a *much* longer and richer soundtrack.)

@@kingmeprime Nintendo's had most of their developed games slowly lose it's sort of polish starting with a decline from 2010 slowly getting worse as time went on, like at around 2015 the drop in quality and life was pretty noticeable.
It's the spirit, effort and polish of games that make them good, and it's not even mostly nostalgia making people love these games.

This. This is the part where I always got stuck. After the boss battle at Cavi Cape you had to traverse a water-filled part of Bowser's stomach. I didn't know English at the time and never found out how to solve one of the puzzles.
Regardless, I kept leveling and leveling in the area, hoping something would happen. I distinctly remember being on a train ride and finally hitting level 15 after such a long time, I was so happy.
I had to get a few years older before I could beat the rest of the game, but this theme is special to me. It made younger me happy, even though I hit a wall. I might not have been able to get past the wall, but I had a blast playing in the sand that was in front of that imaginary wall ;)
That part is in plack beach. The only boss in this area is bowser's tutorial battle with midbus. Still, every song in this ost is nostalgic

And it's one of my absolute favourites in the entire game
This game was a huge part of my childhood. I still own a copy of it somewhere but just listening to this song brings me back to when i was just a kid. I remember bringing my old dsi to a school party in third grade and trying to beat the carrot minigame to no avail. I never got to beat the final boss and still haven't for some reason. Either way this was a huge nostalgia trip and I'm so happy i got it in my recommended.

Small update: i managed to find my cartridge but unfortunately it no longer seems to be working :(
It took me forever to beat the game, but it is worth it! I hope you eventually get to experience the legendary ending that Nintendo has given it, and if it means anything to you, good luck! I do not have the skill that I once did as a kid, so I hope you have an easier time than I did.

For some reason I thought this song was from a Final Fantasy game, I don't know why, it just gave me that feeling, wasn't expecting it to come from a Mario game.
Well the composer, Yoko Shimomura, worked at Square Enix. She also composed for Kingdom Hearts.
I don't know why, but this song sounds similar to Pokemon Explorers of the Sky to me, and it's great, I wish that we could have game and music like this nowadays

This has a small mix of western and pirate themes, but still good. Listening to Bowser just speed-stomping around in any direction is just hilarious. You know he's a big dude when you can hear his footsteps. Mario and Luigi? Nope. You can only hear their jumps and spins and drilling into the ground and whacking enemies with the hammer. Even though the hamkers have been available since Superstar Saga, I feel like Partners In Time is where they first got them since only Baby Mario and Baby Luigi have them, then give them to Mario and Luigi, which they still have in Bowser's Inside Story. Is Partners In Time a prequel to Bowser's Inside Story??
