- Many people have been requesting a follow up to the Bulky Crochet Beanie tutorial I did before Christmas. If you enjoyed my previous beanie video you will love this one made especially for worsted weight yarn.
This video is slightly faster paced than my previous beanie video but I will still be walking you step by step through making this crochet beanie from worsted weight yarn.

Best video and tutorial ever!! Clear video, precise instructions, no fingers blocking the stitches so you can see what the instructor is teaching. Counts each row and the video time line is fantastic. Thank you sooo much. I make hats for a charity and learning a new hat easily is important.
Hi Bobbi :) Thank you so much you made my day!
Very nice!
Thank you! Newbie here, was looking for 'teach me how' easy to follow video and I have found yours. Appreciate that very much. You did great! Thank you for all your work! Love that you are sitting with the camera behind so we can see real-time what you are doing. And those time stamps (as well as the speed change option) - wowza! Please keep sharing things like this one for various patterns (how to step by step).
I have never done any crocheting in my life, had to pull it down a few times but got there in the end .Thank you x
Awesome tutorial! I am new to crocheting, and this was the first video on crocheting a beanie that I was able to follow. Your speed and explanations are perfect! The beanie turned out great, and my husband loves it! I am starting my second one now. Thank you
Ive watched many videos and your video has been the easiest to follow. Thank you for that 🙏
After watching several other videos, I was able to follow yours best! I've just completed my first beanie. Yay!! Thank you!! 😀
Fabulous tutorial!! I made my first beanie in a couple of hours following you and it looks awesome! I had given up with other videos and today I found yours and gave it a try. THIS is how a tutorial should be! Thank you. 👍🏼 up and followed.
Thank you so much! Your feedback really helps me on how to do my next tutorial if I know what is working I will keep doing it :). I'm so happy you had success with it!
Love this, I'm a beginner and your tutorial made it so easy ,especially when it comes to counting stiches. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
I love this video and it doesn't involve a magic circle thank you
😅🤣😅🤣I can relate.
I tried and quickly learned that the magic circle is the bane of my existence
I absolutely HATE the magic circle, any time a pattern calls for a magic circle I just chain 2 and work out of the first stitch
It's widely agreed. Magic circle, ring whatever is torture 😂.
I'm very new to the world of crochet and I successfully made this hat!! Great tutorial!!
Thanks Lauren :) Keep watching over the next month I am getting back on track and hoping to get more videos up. xo
I just did a second hat, using the same yarn, same color, same pattern. What I really love about your tutorial is that you are facing with your back to the camera. I have a horrible time when the person teaching the tutorial is facing me. I did not know how to use a marker or how to tell where the second chain from the hook was or how to count stitches. I am now trying my hand at baby booties. I find myself going back to this tutorial to refresh my memory. As I grow old, so grows my mind! Thanks, a million thanks for sharing...
That is wonderful Lucie!! I am so glad you had success and found it helpful :) xo
Best tutorial!! I'm from Indonesia 🇮🇩, and I'm at the beginner levels. Your tutorial is really simple and easy to follow- so glad that I found this video!!!
So glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful :)
ua-cam.com/video/greg6TdQAus/v-deo.html

Thank you so much Jenna :).
Thankyou!! Ive been looking for an easy video to follow because I want to start making beanies for myself and my family ( saves money and I love to crochet) Ive nearly been in tears from most videos I find and books because I fa=ind most are too complicated. Your video is so easy to follow and you give such clear directions, thankyou thankyou THANKYOU
Great tutorial. I enjoy your humor without getting too chatty. Thanks for fast forwarding the counts.
Thanks so much :) I really appreciate the feedback - will keep me on the right track :)
you’re a good teacher....this will be the first beanie I do as soon as I get my yarn! I am now a subscriber
Wonderful thank you :)
Thank you for your clear and fun tutorial. I had a hard time figure out how to increase the chains and this video helps explain it. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
yoyr tutorial is really vary clear and written pattern also available....you are such a good teacher...
FROM INDIA
Thank you so much - I am having a few requests for the written pattern so watch my store at www.prettydarnadorable.com
I just made my first hat thank you so much for the clear instructions
I love it!!! You're the best. So glad I found you❤️❤️❤️
Awww thanks :) I am so glad! xo
For weeks, I have been looking for an easy hat to crochet for my dad who is currently going through chemo. After he woke up this morning to find his hair all over his pillow, I decided now was the time. This pattern is so easy. I started with the video - which btw you do a FANTASTIC job with doing the walk-through for newbies - but ended up following the written form instead. I am grateful you included it. Definitely a fan. I have a grandson on the way as well, and I don't believe I will have a problem tweaking this pattern to fit him. Thank you so much.
Prayers for you and your dad - such a difficult time. :( I have lots of baby patterns on my blog maybe have a look there. I would suggest the Newborn Newsboy and just skip the brim :) xo www.prettydarnadorable.com
Yay! You're the first person that's been able to teach me to crochet a beanie!
Almost gave up trying!! Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial🤗
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much I love the change to smaller hook part
all i can say is AMAZING!! best crochet tutorial ever!!!thank you for your help and taking the time to help me create a gift with love!
Thank you so much! I love hearing this! I'm sure your gift will be cherished. xo
Thank you so much for this video! Your video is so clear, and helpful and I love that you have the pattern in the description box!💖😁🙏🙏
Thanks so much Aida - I am glad to hear having the pattern helps. I will keep that in mind for future videos! xo
Thanks for sharing. I like when you zoom the camera in close.
Thank you for a great tutorial! You answered my questions well. Appreciate your effort for us newbies.
Excellent tutorial. I messed up so many times, I lost count. It was well over an hour before I figured it out and even so, I finished the hat in under 24 hours!!! My first official hat from a pattern!!! Previously I'd crocheted as a total amateur as I remembered my aunt teaching me when i was a kid and I'd sorta been doing it wrong and my work didn't have a very professional look so I decided to look up a proper pattern/tutorial. My work, for the first time, actually looks professional! And even though I had to rip it out 10+ times cursing myself every freakin' time, thanks for the tutorial!!!! (Part of my problem was probably using multicolored yarn.)
Oh yes multi is hard to work with as a beginner. My tips would be to use light coloured yarn and a hook on the larger size. As a beginner your tension may be on the tight side and the larger hook will help to compensate for this making your stitches easier to work into:)
I am so happy it all worked out!
In this lockdown this is the best project. Thanks for the video.
And may I add I love the background💕👍😘
Yes you can!
I found your video in the ocean of other crochet videos out there, however, you stand out to me. You're so good at explaining, and have such a lovely voice. How I would wish you had made a video showing how to make the same hat but for a newborn. 💜I am a total beginner, so I'm afraid I'm not capable of changing patterns myself. Have a wonderful day and Merry Christmas! 🎄
Love your pattern! Easy! Quick! No magic circle!!! Thank you 😊
Glad you like it!
I had been struggling trying to start a project 😩 from a magic circle, single and double stiches, counting and using a stich marker😭 all of it. I couldn't follow tutorials....almost about to give up and found this tutorial. Omg im beyond happy satisfied and so thankful 🙏 you're awesome! Can't wait for my daughter to use her beanie🥰
This makes me so happy ! Not that you struggled of course but that my video helped. :). Hope your daughter loves her beanie :)
Thanks for the tutorial. I understood it well. Will try making one.
I've just started crocheting to provide hats to our less fortunate fellow Tampanians. Yes, even central Florida has a few days a year where a beanie is preferred over a ball cap. A few of my coworkers tried getting me started but I didn't fully grasp the 'how to' until watching your tutorial. The cherry on top? Your mentioning how to slow the video :) :) :) I've completed my first-ever beanie and predict they'll get better from here. THANK YOU!!!!
Joe French ees
Oh my goodness... your video is perfectly detailed!!! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Hey! Thank you for a well done tutorial that was enjoyable to follow! You are a good teacher and my beanie turned out so cute!
You are so welcome!
Your the best for me!!!!!😇 Thank you & Jesus... Joy Bradford 💕
Love it!!! The best!!! Bless you & thank you!!!💖 Joy Bradford 💕
Hello. This pattern was my 1st attempt at making a hat and I love the way it came out! Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial. I was wondering if there is a matching pattern for a scarf?
Very easy to follow and this hat will be perfect for charity!
Thank you so much! I love the change to smaller hook idea
So happy you enjoyed!
I've been making hats this past week, trying different patterns from different people on UA-cam. The ponytail hats ive learnee to make are great. But today trying to make a regular hat and i hope this video helps me the last one i watched and made was supposed to me a adults hat but came out small like a small toddlers/kids hat
Thank you for a simple tutorial! I love this pattern!
I'm so happy Karen thank you! I am just getting the child size up on my blog. Should be there by next week :). www.prettydarnadorable.com
Hi thank you. Lovely simple for me being a beginner.
Take care love from South Africa
That is so great :) It's always fun to be able to make more than a dishcloth when just starting out 🙂 I especially find it doesn't take much longer!
Brilliant tutorial, great hat, thank you so much, I want to make a trapper hat so I am going to use your version and add flaps, hopefully it will work out, thanks again :)
Aloha from Hawaii 🌺🌺🌺 Thank you great video, I love how you had the written pattern below video, thank you for taking the time to do that 😁 subscribed!
Thanks so much and welcome! Aloha Hawaii is on our bucket list - 6.5 years once hubby retires! :)
Wow! So fast and easy to do! This is now my go to pattern!
Thank you so happy to hear!!
Nice! Thorough explanations at points I've been missing. Thank you for teaching :)
So glad it was helpful!
I was almost to tears finding a beanie pattern that was clear for me to do as a beginner! Thank you!!
Aww don’t be discouraged you can do it I am fairly new to crocheting 🧶 but it becomes a lot of fun 🤩 it does take time don’t give up !!! ❤️
I agree with the comments below - be kind to yourself once you are used to holding the yarn and working with the hook it will all fall into place. Keep with it but take breaks when you get frustrated. Sometimes walking away for a bit is the best solution of all. But make sure you come back ;)
Great tutorial!! Completed my first hat!!! Thank you 😊
Wonderful!
I have wanted to learn to crochet for many years. Many have tried to teach me but just couldn’t get it. Thanks to your UA-cam I made my first beanie hat. I’m so excited. I just turned 70 in Dec. it’s taken a while to carch on I got it now. Thanks to you. A message th or so my priest asked me if I could make him a hat. I said I would try. Tomorrow I will give him my first beanie hat. Wow. It really turned out great. at least I think so and I know my priest will love it. Thanks again. Your the best ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much Melanie!! He will love it. A little love worked into every piece I believe. You made my night with your message. Thank you. 🥰
Thank you so much for your help and time 💕 God bless you and your family always ❣️
You are so welcome! And to you as well. xo
I made two hats so far ! Thank you !
Thank you for a basic single crochet beanie , I am a newbie and so happy I got to 60 stitches correct🎉🤗🥳👍🏻❤️and subscribe
Great to hear - thanks so much!
Excellent you're the first one that's ever had the pattern right there while you did the tutorial thank you so much
Thanks for the feedback Yvonne - it is good to know it helps :) I will continue to list with the videos now! The timestamps are really useful too and they only work when watching it on UA-cam :)
Enjoy our weekend. XO
Straight to the point. Thank you
Thank you sooo much. Best hat video Ive seen so far.
Wow, thanks!
Wow, you did make it easy, I’m gonna look at more your videos, thank you.
Hi Cindy - I am so glad you found it easy:). Hoping to get more videos up soon - what you find helpful?

Thanks for the feed back :) Glad they helped.
LOVE YOUR TUTORIAL! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I am so glad thank you so much 🤗
Thank you. This is an amazing tutorial. I'm pretty sure I will be able to figure this out before you may have a chance to show how to do it... however if you get a chance to post a video, I would like to use this start but then use a Thermal Stitch at the bottom in order to provide extra warmth and wind resistance around the ears.
Thanks again!
You are so welcome :) You may want to check out my 'how to line a hat video' here: ua-cam.com/video/10OcrqxhuHs/v-deo.html
@@prettydarnadorable Thanks a million!
Very clear instructions, love that they are written in the comments box but tried three different ways and different sizes and none gave me an adult sized hat.
+teresa payton oh no I’m sorry to hear that did you check your count at every round? And you use the same size hooks correct? I think it may come down to tension in which case I would recommend doing an additional increase round because we’re already using a 6.5 mm hook. It may be the only way to get it large enough they should make the hat about an inch larger
@@prettydarnadorable Thank you for your reply. I will give it a try!
Thanks. This tutorial will keep my ears warm☺
You’re welcome 😊Warm ears are good! 😍
I love this Pattern
Love the color!
Me too!
Aaah this is amazing!! I messed it up a lot and after the 1000th time restarting I just gave up and ended up with 63 stitches at the end (don’t ask me how I have no clue) but the end result looks different to ur but still pretty good!!! Thank you!!
That’s great!! Seriously with a basic hat like this don’t worry about being a few stitches off. Well done. X
Before coming across this video, I tried a few other videos and just couldn't get the magic circle right but this tutorial really helped so much to do it another way without the magic circle and I successfully completed my first ever crocheted beanie! This video was so extremely helpful and i most appreciated all of the tips! Thank you :) !
This is a brilliant tutorial! What pattern would you use for a baby hat using the same technique?
I love this pattern and I love your video.
Thank you! 😊
Best video yet ,thank you

My pleasure 😊
Amazing, thank you so much ☺️
Glad you liked it!
I used to crochet alot. I started when I was 11...I used to make beanies for everyone. Also made scarfs, baby blankets, bags, granny squares, etc wanted to do a temperature afgan, but never got around to it. Well I guess I burned my self out and got distracted by life and other art projects so I got rusty and totally forgot things. I could remember the getting stated with the ring and the count pattern like 2.1.2 and increasing but I couldn't understand why my circle kept looking hexagon style and at the end looking more like a beret. This video really helped refresh my memory. I never used stitch markers before. Course every beanie pattern is different. Maybe my brain was trying to combine two old patterns I had deep in my memory lol. May have to now. Be a Fun trip to hobby lobby. Getting old is no fun. But I always love the simplicity of this style beanie. It's not fancy but it's super functional. I like how the stitches are closer nit to keep your head and ears extra warm. I'm currently trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm trying to make my finances friend who was in a bad wreck and have half his skull plate remove a beanie with a feauxhawk. He's self conscious about his head and always hides it under hats...He use to have bright green Mohawk so I'm trying to Boost his self esteem by giving him someone he use to have before the wreck. Imma even unravel and pet brush out the yarn to give it that hair like effect.
What a beautiful gift I hope he loves it!
O my God so easy and very exciting very clear so beautiful and very lovely and the shape of the hat is wonderful and very beautiful I just love d it ❤️❣️❤️💓💖
I am so happy you enjoyed it!!
Pretty
Thank you
I was taught that info between * * are the repeat. When I come to the end of the round, I end with 2 SC in the last stitch instead of 1 SC as stated in the repeat. I do end up with the correct number of stitches for each round though. I had to do a few more rows of increases to make a larger hat.Thank you for your video and pattern.
You are so welcome!
Thank you so so much!!
You're welcome!
thank you
