It's very strange how arbitrary many of the changes seem to be in the remakes. Giving Mulan superpowers, having a love interest for Genie, giving Beast his own musical number, etc.
I can’t believe this is your first commentary video on this channel it’s amazing! Very comedic and the animation is smooth and very cute! Definitely subscribing and looking forward to future projects!
Not only the video is good but the animation is fantastic! Dear I say better than many animated shows on TV. That's probably thanks to the designs. You could've just have your avatar be a still drawing who changes positions every once in a while (No shade to anyone who's doing it!) but you went the extra mile. It must have took a long time. Great job! I'm subscribing.
HOW DO YOU ANIMATE THIS??? 😭😭😭 like, especially that beginning when the 2D character has a shadow and kicks a 3D chair like HUH??? TF THIS IS SO GOOD?! THANK YOU FOR BEING A UA-camR?! BUT LIKE HOW!??!
Look, I'm only 30 seconds in, but I have to say, this is the content UA-cam needs more of. This is already very impressive work, from the animation, of course, to the audio mixing, to the commentary. I just hate when UA-camrs, even very sucsessful ones, just replay 30 seconds of Trailer footage, and reiterate the same exact talking points that everyone else says, then they rake in 750,000 views. It's very obvious how much time and thought went into this video and Its not a hard prediction to say this Channel is going to blow up in the very near future. Finding a gem like this one Sub 1,000 views is always special. Keep up the amazing work! Really seems like a lot of time and effort went into this. Yes Disney Remakes and Disney as a whole needs to be reworked from the ground up. As much as I hate Disney, The issue was with the fans who encouraged them to make the remakes in the first place. The Fact that Aladdin, and Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast were these finacial junngernauts, all passed a Billion dollars, gave Disney the green light to keep shitting these "movies" out. People need to pay with their wallets and Its a shame it took as long as it did. This has been a cathatric year, seeing Blunder after Blunder from these major studios.
1:31 Having just watched the animated comedy video, it actually made me notice that you did the _exact_ kind of subversion of expectation that you mentioned in that video! You have the setup with mentioning the new barber being detrimental and showing your character immediately post-haircut, leading the audience to think it's going to be the _haircut_ that was the bad experience. And then the punchline happens, catching the audience off guard and - hopefully - making them laugh. which I very much did, right before recognizing the structure and coming down here to mention it. I love that!!
I'll be proud to say I knew you when you were a small channel! The quality of your commentary and animations suprised me. I clicked on this fully expecting to find another cynicist wailing about how Disney has doomed us all. Instead, I found this hidden gem. I just wanted to show my appreciation and tell you that I really enjoyed this!
Live action remakes are just pure laziness... unlike this video, so much effort bro, you deserve so much more subscribers and support, I really hope more people see this
I've been waiting for someone to explain why these movies feel so ugly. I feel something could also be said about the weird lighting and costumes/color schemes that make it feel more like a theatre performance rather than a movie.
Never diss theater like that again 💀 Even the most amateur theater performances are better than any of the live action remakes. At least the performers are trying, no one who works on any of the remake movies are.
I will say that, while animals without expressions don't usually work as well as the animated movies, they did a VERY good job with the Homeward Bound movies despite the animals not moving their mouths even when talking.
7:51 The animated one does justify it, making him giant, his hands are massive and awkward around the utensils, and using them instead of his hands takes a conscious effort, it's like threading a needle for every bite rather than just a really tall and disgusting slob who can't be bothered
@@bradleyg_ I didn't until you put the two side by side, I don't watch the live actions, but the fact that you even wondered if the beast even originally had thumbs communicated a lot. I think freaking Twilight managed to do the wolves better and more expressive than Disney did the Beast
Wait how is this channel so small? The animations of your characters are so smooth and top quality! It reminded me of Gravity Falls from the art style and the atmosphere. Keep up the great work!
huh? HUH? WTF, why does this guy only have 1k subs?? The animation, the creativity (with the bits) THIS is content. Keep it up man! I support this content 100%
Look, I get Disney not wanting to return to form with 2D animated films (with the exception of their 100 year anniversary short), but I feel like the issue goes way deeper than the medium. Whether it's live action or 2D, you've got to have really well written stories and interesting ideas that I'm certain Disney doesn't want to put in the effort to do so. This is why I'd rather attribute the studio's success to the individual minds that innovate the industry rather than the executive heads who've been running it for the past decade or so. So these live action slop really just sucks out any passion or heart the originals have had. Brad Bird puts in nicely when he says "animation is not a genre" it's just a medium to tell your stories, and you've got to keep pushing for more interesting ways to do so. That's the freedom with this medium. Also was really surprised at how underrated your channel is as a whole; this video made me think you've been doing this for a while. Keep it up man, your style of writing and presentation is incredibly entertaining lmao.
I feel like if they made "The Lion King" reboot and then stopped there after trying something new, learning from it, and accepting that it didn't work, and then didn't make anouther live action reboot after that then I would've been perfectly fine, but then they felt like remaking every one of their old movies in live action for who knows why. Anyways amazing video man I cant believe this is your first real video it was awesome and right up my alley. Hope to see more from you!
One thing about this video is how good your animation is ,it reminds me of a actual show and looks almost like gravity falls seriously GOOD JOB ON THE ANIMATION
Right? First time watching and I definitely actually laughed out loud a lot more then 99% of videos I watch (Suction Cup Man still gets the most still, unfortunately 😆) ❤
This type content was so much fun to watch. Especially the animation. I have a tendency to love video essays where the speaker utilizes a greenscreen and their entire body like nakey jakey. But this is something new. Instead of a “animated” expression its actually animated and much more. I also appreciate that there wasn’t much or any awkward humor or loud = funny parts I also do miss 2D animations from disney so much
Man this channel is great I'm honored to be your 20th sub I also like the fact that the animated character is not in a void it makes the place feel like it has a atmosphere
Your robot cat talking gave me flashbacks to watching Brainpop videos in school. Thanks for the nostalgia blast (and also for the rest of the video as well, good stuff there)!
Greetings from Camwing’s latest video. I’m here because he made a loose reference to your video and it looks like I’m here to stay cuz this video was definitely worth referencing
I'm so glad I boarded this train before it took off. I was surprised you have only 4k subs but seeing that this is your FIRST video i'm really not. this channel is gonna go so, so far. Everything from your writing/comedy style to your commentary is so goddamn funny. it felt like i was watching a comedy show on top of a media commentary which are two of my favourite things combined.
Never seen a commentary channel put so much effort into editing, at first glance I thought your sub count was 1.1 mil. 1K is crazy, you're gonna explode in a little while I bet.
Damn, you're another one of those UA-camrs that while I was watching their video had me thinking "this guy's editing and script quality is too damn good, they must have like 3 or 4 million subscribers". Just to look at their sub count to see that they're not even in the 5 digits yet, and feel surprised and sad at the same time. The quality of your video was insane and your visuals are really unique and dope. Definitely gonna sub and watch your other stuff.
What an amazing video! With how polished it is I thought for sure you’d been doing this for ages, I can’t believe this is your first in this format! I can’t wait to see more!
4:25 I have to disagree with you there - Animals are VERY expressive, in their eyes, ears, and body language, and it's not just dogs who can change the shape of their eyes to mimic human emotions. Google image happy lion cub, sad lion, angry lion cub etc and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. You know Disney's REALLY messed up when real animals emote more clearly than their CGI ones. Why they didn't use these images for help in expressing what the characters are feeling as beyond me.
Yeah, that was definitely one of my weaker points for sure. I was trying to get across how big of a sacrifice it was to go from animated characters to realistic animals, but I should've also conceded that they still could've done a much better job at depicting facial expressions even within the bounds of realism.
@@bradleyg_ This movie came out while I was learning animation at college. The one thing we'd criticize is Hollywood's definition of "realism". You're absolutely right about the lack of animal emotions and tbh it was probably because either the pipeline for making the movie or the rigs themselves lacked the ability to allow the animators to express the animations. Also another example of terrible realism is the color pallet for this movie. Africa has and immense range of colors in its environment but they settled on only earth tones.
Wtf I thought this was a big channel with at least a couple hundred thousand subs with how good the first less than a minute alone was. Keep up the videos man. You'll definitely go somewhere.
The thing with the animated Beast's hands is that even if he has a thumb the overall construction of the hand is still very paw-like, and while they technically have fingers animals with paws can't easily move them, so Beast has to awkwardly claw the spoon to grab it, Belle notices so she eventually meets him halfway, it's actually a very tender scene with a slight twinge of tragedy. Meanwhile the live action Beast has a fully human hand covered in hair, so him refusing to use it is just absurd and thus the scene is transformed into something ugly and awkward. On the matter of emotion, I think him being more human-like could potentially help to convey emotion, I mean, it actually works with other versions like Beastly (The movie itself sucks but Pettyfer's performance is really good), the problem is that Disney hired a toothpaste model instead of an actual actor, and since he's stuck talking to another toothpaste model (Emma Watson), neither of them is really using their face to emote.
I didn’t even realise you had 165 subs (166 now) because of how high the production value of this video is, honestly I can tell you will definitely blow up and find your footing on UA-cam, keep it up
I live in perpetual fear of the inevitable Princess and the Frog live-action remake...Not just for the CGI animals and that they'll probably cast Keegan-Michael Key as Dr. Facilier, but for the likelihood of more "Songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda"
This is amazingly well done. I got a few good laughs and the effort put into this is very evident. The visual direction is very well-executed. I wish you the best of luck in seeing this channel grow. You deserve all of the views and subscribers that you can get.
Great video! We forgot one really good live action remake that came out in the 90s and that's the 101 Dalmations. The cartoon came out late 60s. I'd bet there's a wild comparison between how they did that movie vs all these current ones.
What makes this more painful is that they canceled the one live action remake of a movie that didn’t need the animation to work, Hunchback of Notre Dame. Probably because it “doesn’t fit their spotless image.” Stage musical is great, though.
Don’t let them lie. It’s cause of all the Christian theme and the fact they can’t black wash anyone or they’d be attacked even harder than they did over little mermaid.
For a first video, this is absolutely amazing! Your animation was ASTOUNDIGLY good, and you did a really great job of discussing the visual issues with Disney's live-action remakes with a lot of detailed looks at specific scene. It's very strange how arbitrary many of the changes seem to be in the remakes. Giving Mulan superpowers, having a love interest for Genie, giving Beast his own musical number, etc.
holy wow, the production value on this video is wild. you're doing great!
To top it all off this is his first video (aside from Animation Test reels)
I can’t believe this is your first commentary video on this channel it’s amazing! Very comedic and the animation is smooth and very cute! Definitely subscribing and looking forward to future projects!
Same. I can't believe it either
That really means a lot, thanks
I shade to it lel
Clearly inspired by Gravity Falls I think
HOW DO YOU ANIMATE THIS??? 😭😭😭
like, especially that beginning when the 2D character has a shadow and kicks a 3D chair like HUH??? TF THIS IS SO GOOD?! THANK YOU FOR BEING A UA-camR?! BUT LIKE HOW!??!
the chair and effects was probably all done in adobe after effects
How does this tiny movie reviewing channel with 3 whole videos have an art-style ten times better than your average Pixar movie?
To be fair, Pixar has always been more interested in CGI since it’s inception. I’d honestly say that about Disney to be honest.
dude what is your problem with pixar, the video is about disney
and the jokes are actually funny
passion
I'll be proud to say I knew you when you were a small channel! The quality of your commentary and animations suprised me. I clicked on this fully expecting to find another cynicist wailing about how Disney has doomed us all. Instead, I found this hidden gem. I just wanted to show my appreciation and tell you that I really enjoyed this!
Live action remakes are just pure laziness... unlike this video, so much effort bro, you deserve so much more subscribers and support, I really hope more people see this
I've been waiting for someone to explain why these movies feel so ugly. I feel something could also be said about the weird lighting and costumes/color schemes that make it feel more like a theatre performance rather than a movie.
btw this channel will have a million subs within a year no doubt.
Never diss theater like that again 💀 Even the most amateur theater performances are better than any of the live action remakes. At least the performers are trying, no one who works on any of the remake movies are.
American movies have been getting more depressing to look at since the end of the 1960s.
I will say that, while animals without expressions don't usually work as well as the animated movies, they did a VERY good job with the Homeward Bound movies despite the animals not moving their mouths even when talking.
The original 1963 *Incredible Journey* was also a live-action film (and shot in Canada, no less), so there is no change of medium.
7:51 The animated one does justify it, making him giant, his hands are massive and awkward around the utensils, and using them instead of his hands takes a conscious effort, it's like threading a needle for every bite rather than just a really tall and disgusting slob who can't be bothered
That's a really good point, I didn't consider that
@@bradleyg_ I didn't until you put the two side by side, I don't watch the live actions, but the fact that you even wondered if the beast even originally had thumbs communicated a lot.
Wait its been literally 2 days since ur comment and now he has 2.6k
Dude. Disney and jokes aside. You have three videos on your channel and absolutely killed the animation style with this one. Damn, that's amazing.
One thing about this video is how good your animation is ,it reminds me of a actual show and looks almost like gravity falls seriously GOOD JOB ON THE ANIMATION
the framing device / set of a bedroom during golden hour is so nice ! I love it !!!!!
Oh yeah. Who doesn't love Golden Hour?
Your animation style is fantastic! Investing now, you’re going places Bradley
Only 89 subs with this level of polish. I’m investing now, can’t wait to see the growth of this channel will have 👍
That means a lot, thanks fam
I also appreciate that there wasn’t much or any awkward humor or loud = funny parts
I also do miss 2D animations from disney so much
This is legit one of the most well made videos I’ve ever seen, and the animation is just mwaaah, chefs kiss
Man this channel is great I'm honored to be your 20th sub I also like the fact that the animated character is not in a void it makes the place feel like it has a atmosphere
Thanks! The bedroom background is probably what took me the longest, since I was still pretty new to 3d modelling. Appreciate the support
yeah buy I'm his 69th sub
@@johnharrington6958 Truly a legendary honor
From 20th to 4k in a month, insane
I gotta say, I love your animation style got this video, it has soo much more charm than I’d expect for UA-cam
Your robot cat talking gave me flashbacks to watching Brainpop videos in school. Thanks for the nostalgia blast (and also for the rest of the video as well, good stuff there)!
Bro, I saw that initial animation, saw the subscribers and thought: WHY DON'T THEY HAVE A BIGGER FOLLOWING?!?!
And instantly subbed.
dude literally put a single video out and made it rock. props to them
Woah, this video came out of nowhere and yet the animation is so smooth and topics so well thought-out! Can't wait to see this channel blow up
Greetings from Camwing’s latest video. I’m here because he made a loose reference to your video and it looks like I’m here to stay cuz this video was definitely worth referencing
Ayy thanks!
I'm so glad I boarded this train before it took off. I was surprised you have only 4k subs but seeing that this is your FIRST video i'm really not. this channel is gonna go so, so far. Everything from your writing/comedy style to your commentary is so goddamn funny. it felt like i was watching a comedy show on top of a media commentary which are two of my favourite things combined.
i think when Disey runs out of animated films to adapt they should take their live actions films and adapt them into animation
Bruh
Never seen a commentary channel put so much effort into editing, at first glance I thought your sub count was 1.1 mil. 1K is crazy, you're gonna explode in a little while I bet.
Damn, this is so underrated. If you keep at it, I’m sure this channel’s gonna blow up.
Hi Bradley I just wanted to let you know Im using your video for my college class essay so thank you 🙏🏻
Of course, thanks for enjoying my video :)
@@zerotodona1495 Excellent point.
Really good video man. I was really surprised when I found out this is the first video in this style on your channel. It’s all very professional.
For a first video, this is absolutely amazing! Your animation was ASTOUNDIGLY good, and you did a really great job of discussing the visual issues with Disney's live-action remakes with a lot of detailed looks at specific scene. You just earned yourself a new subscriber, and I can't wait to see more!
Fantastic video! I love that you integrated your own great animation, that to me looks like a combination of the character design from Gravity Falls with the realistic CG backgrounds from The Amazing World Of Gumball into your well written editorial on Disney remakes. This is a fresh new take for the UA-cam movie review/editorial community that we need. Hope to see more videos from you! Plus your style of humour is f*cking hilarious.
Your animation style reminds me of Gravity Falls, which means I'm in love with it and I want to see more. You've got a subscriber in me!
Also, can't hate enough on Disney's remake garbage. One day we will all look back at, point and say "Behold! The worst consequences of rampant profit-chasing."
The fact all the parts with your persona/character are fully animated is so cool. This is really high quality
I really like your style of animation and humour! I felt like all your jokes landed pretty well and you hit the awkward without second hand embarrassment spot perfectly! This video felt well edited and paced without just being an info dump! All in all this was a wondeful video and im excited to watch the next video!
Thanks!
@@bradleyg_ No problem! Also hope you enjoyed that Big Boy's!
@@SEAkuaa It was a mighty fine philly cheesesteak scramble for sure
@@bradleyg_ good to know might try it next time
Great video! I love the animated scenes you made and your thoughts on Disney Live action films. I agree that they need to improve the visuals and not go for the hyper realistic style. Your channel has a lot of potential.
Glad that UA-cam has been recommending smaller channels and videos to me, really an amazing video dude! The animation and the commentary are super
“Well hey, that’s not a fair assessment of a movie you haven’t seen! Shouldn’t you at least give it a chance?”
“No :)”
Your video was so well made too!! The house in the front also reminds me of the amazing world of gumball. Your responses are very well thought out and well executed. Keep up the good work I can see you going so far!!
UA-cam giving me a channel with the potential to be amazing and it's still in its infancy stage??? D-Did, I get chosen by the algorithm gods for once?! This video was amazing! I love the animation! The strange and subtle lore, and of course your points on Disney remakes! You definitely got my sub!
this video is amazing! I immediately clicked on your channel to find more videos and quickly became heartbroken to see that this was your first.
This is amazing for a first video like this. You are extremely talented. I thought you had already made like billion videos!
Woah, I've seen smaller channels that deserve way more subs before.. But the production quality here is amazing! The animation is so fluid and..well, animated. Much more effort than I've seen other channels do covering this topic, good work :)
WAIT OMG THE ANIMAL CROSSING VOICE HE USES FOR THE CAT CHANGES EVERY TIME?!?!?! I LOVE THIS
oh shit, what a nice video, can't wait to see what other videos this guy has produced
_liteli his only review/commentary_
*YOU WHAT*
imma keep an eye on you son of a gun, the quality here makes no sense
well done sir, well done
I can’t believe you only have just under 5k subscribers, this animation looks incredible! (If only Disney thought the same)
God BLESS this mixed-media video format!! Definitely subscribing and looking forward to more critiques!
holy shit your commentary plus the animation involved in this video is so sick dude ?! i cant believe you dont have more videos !! i thought i stumbled upon another animation based commentary channel that i had been missing out on... but seeing your new to the scene is crazy !! best of luck man ik yr gonna make it far especially with your skills 🩷🩷
Damn this is high quality. I started watching the video and thought it was like from a high-budget well established youtuber, then I actually look and it's brand new. Hope you go far, we will be watching your career with great interest.
I definitely expected you to have a whole lot more subs and a catalog of past content to binge, it's crazy how this video is the only commentary video on your channel and the quality is better than most videos from bigger channels! I hope that made sense lol. Very humorous and the animation is very good! Excited for whatever you have in store next!
I don't know what I enjoyed more, you're aweseome video about the abominations Disney are churning out or your super awesome animation full of easter eggs and visual nods to so many things. PLLLLLEEEASE make more.
The animation here is very smooth, keep up the good work
4:45 EVERLONG SPOTTED 🗣🔥🔥🔥
I wish I could subscribe twice.... dude this was an awesome commentary... you've managed to put into animation and intellect what we've all been feeling for YEARS
I watched your birchum video along this and i'm definitely a new sub. Good video essay combined with literal cartoon gags snuck between segments.
Holy cow... out of the blue an amazing channel comes out and drops a banger of a topic/review. Excellent job, Bradley G! Great animation and comedic timing. Seriously. It's not often when I feel a sense of wonder and elation and you hit both on the head. Kudos to you!
The animation in this video is sooo clean, I absolutely love it! 😭
Omg I did not expect this video to be so funny. Great job being both humorous and spot on with your analysis. Subbed for more of this.
Man, the amount of effort put into these reviews is amazing. I was looking for some boring uninteresting reviews to listen to while going to sleep but I just can't close my eyes because I want to see the animation of the jokes lol
Man, your videos are so high effort, I'm absolutely baffled and shocked you only got 700 sub!
Very good first video essay. I expect your channel will grow substantially, you deserve it!
Just found the channel. Massive respect for going through the trouble of animating your Avarar to such a professional level. Sub earned first for that, and second for managing to fit jokes and bits in there too. Interesting channel!
Holy shit keep up this work man this content is great the humor and style is a 10/10 and you don't joke to much, you actually review the content instead of making it a gag fest
i watched 3 minutes of this video and instantly subscribed! you're super underrated. i wish you nothing but success. i love how you could make out the blend between the simpsons, the amazing world of gumball, and gravity falls! super enjoyable video
The animation such a nice touch to add to your commentary omg
Dude keep up the good work, this video is brilliant! I would love to see what else you can do!
Hope the algorithm picks up your video cause the amount of work put into this video is insane
Amazing video! I don't even check youtube often, but after I finished this one, I immediately went to your channel to look for more! You'll go places if you keep this up~
I was wondering why I hadn't found this channel before, cause it's right up ny alley in terms of content, but when I clicked on it, I found there were only three videos. It sure is rare to find this kind of quality from such a small channel
How are you gonna just drop such a banger video out of nowhere? I need more.
I cannot wait to see more of your content! Your animation and skits throughout the video was hilarious as well! You’re an amazing artist!
Holy shit, how are you under 5k subs? This is top tier quality.
maaaan this channel is peak. cant wait for more uploads
Oml, this animation is so cool. I've never seen something like this combined with commentary, subscribed dude. 😭💗
Off topic but I really love the cartoony animation style for the video!
It really adds personality and charm haha!
Incredible video, praise be to the algorithm for guiding me to your channel
