Tbh I disagree. I think, considering the show’s genres and target demographic (tweens) 2020s Steven would have a remarkably similar design to his original. You mostly see the style that Harry mimicked for 2020s in adult animation, whereas much of 2020s tween animation takes inspiration from anime, as well as from shows like… Steven Universe itself (and others, such Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, etc. but the point stands).
Feel like the title should’ve been “Cartoon Network tweeted” because I believe Steven universe does have their own Twitter that is people who actually worked on the show. This is just corporate trying to cheaply drive engagement
For everyone that says the image looks like AI: I went to the original tweet, and the art is definitely hand drawn. The AI texture may just be an artifact of AI upscaling, as the image is pretty compressed and small in the original tweet and likely wouldn't have looked as good in the video when upscaled.

a lot of ppl in the comments saying "why did Harry age up Steven?" or "doesn't really read as Steven because he's aged up." you have to remember in those older era cartoons it was rare as heck for a child to be the Main character back then and since the show is called Steven Universe it makes sense to age him up in the old styles. I'm sure Harry could have drawn kid Steven in those old styles but it wouldn't have been accurate I mean look at Lion-o and He-man those guys are like 15 or younger but they were bulked up in their shows to sell toys thus the style.
ok but the point is drawing steven in the style. children existed back then, even in cartoons. imagine if harry gold was drawing a child character in the style of a show with mainly adult characters but plenty of kid characters to choose from as reference, and instead harry sacrificed recognizeability and aged up the kid character. now the character is both in a different art style and looks very different. this is bad.

I mean cool designs but it bothers me how in almost all of them he's an adult? It doesnt feel very recognizable as Steven in the show where he's a kid or at most a teen in Future

does anyone else feel like the original cn drawings look ai generated? i noticed that when they're zoomed in, the fill in black looks random and fake. like at 12:38 his hair looks like it was filled in by ai
After doing a touch of research after seeing the comment two posts above: The original sheet doesn't have the same "This is 100% AI generated" texturing that the ones in the video do, so he definitely ran these through an AI image enhancer for the video. Personally I think that was the wrong choice because it makes all the line art and shading worse, which is bad when the whole sheet is just line art and shading. I immediately clocked the AI and was confused because he said the original came out in 2020 (Well before AI image generators became common) but I hadn't considered he used it himself. It's a shame too because he easily could've just not done that and made a joke about how CN was too lazy to post a picture with the proper resolution.
The ad blocks that The Harry Gold Show has should be real ad blocks. They're very well thought out and very charming. Also, Harry Gold's style is fantastic

(And very, VERY hardworking)
I like how the title implies that Steven Universe, the character, did the art himself.
He would of probably done a better job honestly.
Why would steven post this 😢
Dude I love the way you do your sponsorships, they’re the only ones from anybody I actually watch
the only thing I don't like here is that if I saw these designs out of context I wouldn't have guessed it was supposed to be steven😭
Man, i had a terrible headache, but for some reason your voice just healed me instantly. Thank you.
And your video is awesome too :)
Ah, a perfect video to watch after a hard school day drinking favorite tea. I enjoy Harrys redesigns so, so much, especially as an artist myself and a big lover of when the artstyle is done well. You inspire me to think to try make some redesign videos myself
Amazing work, as usual Harry. 👍 I always look forward to your redraw videos.
It's crazy seeing the low effort in those official post. They drew Steven in "the Simpsons style" but they didn't even give him 4 fingers. They just gave him a Simpson face and called it a day.
But yeah, I don't blame whoever did this, whoever they were had to churn it out as quickly as possible.
You are seriously a chameleon of art styles, love the different styles, from rubber hose, to the 50' geometic style, to disney-esq, the cutesy 80's, it's astonishing, they look like they came right out of a cartoon from that era.
I hope they keep posting more bad art, so we can see you fix them
Dude...that manscaped ad was the best commercial I've seen in a LONG TIME. That is some TOP work Mr Harry Gold!
(P.S. down the line I think a really cool evolution of the talkshow aesthetic would be to have a small set kinda like the Eric Andre show...but more budget and space conscious of course lol)
9:20 IM WHEEZING 😂
I audibly laughed so hard that I choked on my food.
I think that could be Lee J Cobb
Also amazing video, I'm glad you're finally getting recognition, I remember when you had 10k subscribers. One of the best channels on this platform.
4:06 we deserve more sponsors like this
Drawing characters in different art styles through decades is one of my favorite pass times, therefore, those steven arts look horrendeus!
I think the caricature is Richard Korver
Hi! Harry I love all your videos, your style of 50's shows and the modern era OMG, you're AWESOME!!
for a hot second i was really scared that Harry Gold was talking about the... OTHER Steven Universe art that's been getting tweeted out recently.
the *wave of relief* i felt when i saw the thumbnail, my god
DEPLORABLE! I'm definitely NOT asking for the sauce because I'm definitely NOT curious about it 😉😉😉
@@paolopasaol9700 B-but i wanna know 😔
You can't just say something like that and NOT tell us what you mean
I think there was pearl x greg and sadie x amethyst art leaked (in tge amethyst x sadie one amethyst shapeshiftes into lars)@cringelord_67
Alright, let me say just how GOOD your videos art?! You put lots of research in them and they are very passionate! You replicate these art styles perfectly it’s extremely impressive!! And the humour always has an effect on me, seeing Amethyst Scoobidoo especially got me! Your caricatures are very good as well! Although I can’t guess this one haha!
The Harry Gold show truly has *golden* content to offer.
12:36 Some of the streaks in the original Cartoon Network hair look like AI generated garbled noise????
This was drawn in 2020. While it's not IMPOSSIBLE for it to be generated (for example, sights like "this cat does not exist" were around back then), it's just very unlikely it was AI
Its hand drawn and from 2020 so that may be just from ai upscaling of the original image
@@benitotortellini But the missing toe?
@@Redacted_Theorist Didnt you see the hands? Its a deliberate artistic choice, AI upscaling just made it look worse
@@Redacted_Theorist Humans can forget about toes and fingers too. I honestly wouldnt be surprised with how crap this whole drawing is
I love how you do sponsers. Like, my favorite part of Drive In Theater in Disney is the ads. Just love the creativity with the little goobers telling me to buy the thing.
Man I remember when this channel had only like 5k subscribers. It's so nice to see you getting the recognition you deserve!
You are the only youtuber who makes great advertising for sponsors
“How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man!?”
I personally really like your videos and find them fun and fun with an e! They also give me inspiration to draw which is rare. The thing is that sometimes when I show videos of your to my friends some think that you're egotistical and bashing the works of other artists to make yourself look better. I personally don't see it that way, and I think what you said at the end of this video perfectly explains your thought process of these "fixing art style video" things. Keep up the good work!
this guy actually gets me engaged in the sponsorship sections. Congrats
I mean cool designs but it bothers me how in almost all of them he's an adult? It doesnt feel very recognizable as Steven in the show where he's a kid or at most a teen in Future
yeah, I thought the same
Another comment said that this is Steven if he was MADE in those decades, rather than him in the decade's art style, and for most of those decades it was more common to see adult characters
@@alexp728 There are still plenty of kid characters to reference though seeing as a lot of those decades were focused on the nuclear family
Yeah, I didn’t recognize Steven until he got to the 1970s. I respect the time and effort, but he definitely needed more kid references.
I kinda noticed that too
these videos inspire me so much, i love how technical they are
Bro somehow made me love watching a Manscaped Ad
I love watching these because i learn so much about animation history and foundations
I loved the simple flips joke because at the very start I just went “damn that could’ve just been submitted as SF fan art and nobody would’ve bat an eye.
The sponsor segments are pure cinema.
The only channel where I don't skip the sponsorships.
I bet one day either cartoon network or Nickelodeon will commission him to make the styles of there characters
I don't know if I've gotten to say it before but your videos never cease to sweep me up in the vibe and remind me to have a good time doing whatever I'm doing. Every time you upload I smile at the notifications. I hope you can have a good day out there too.
14:11 Nightmare blunt rotation 🔥
nah that’s a dream right there 🗣️🔥
I don't think I know of another youtuber who can start transitioning into an ad read and have me think "oh right, cool, let's see what he does with this one"
16:00 Is it you?
God I love these videos, I’m really glad we’re able to keep this series going while still keeping it fresh!
I like how they do the sponsors animation, it brings me to much memories
PLEASE add a join thingy to your UA-cam channel. I want to support you, like, you don't even need to put up benefits and stuff. If this site is a desert then you are an oasis. Keep it up!
I appreciate that! I figured I shouldn't open memberships seeing as I don't really have the time to do anything extra for members that would make it worth their while (Lord knows it takes me long enough to get videos done as is!) but if more people express interest I might set that up at some point!
@@TheHarryGoldShowwhat's the next video about
At this point just deactivate the account. Cartoon Network, you can’t keep getting away with this.
i adore the sponsor segments, i wish all youtubers advertised in a unique way like this
12:52 did NOT expect to see spanky ham there for some reason
harry gold is the only person who can make sponsors bearable
does anyone else feel like the original cn drawings look ai generated? i noticed that when they're zoomed in, the fill in black looks random and fake. like at 12:38 his hair looks like it was filled in by ai
Yes absolutely
That's because the images were put on a higher resolution instead of the original resolution to view the images better
Definitely sum ai shit. Noticed it right there too
After doing a touch of research after seeing the comment two posts above:
The original sheet doesn't have the same "This is 100% AI generated" texturing that the ones in the video do, so he definitely ran these through an AI image enhancer for the video.
6:02 why'd u made him old, tho?? 😭
He *does* turn old at one point… not that that’s relevant. But- tweedle Dee and tweedle Dum are children, and they look very similar to this Steven, down to the nose and mouth lines. It’s not too unlikely.
@@Xx-F17THYFR34K-xX I think kids and cartoon kids existed in the 30's
@@TheMelloyMan I never said children didn’t exist before this time period. I’m just saying, it’s a stylistic choice that still matches up with child characters of the time.
Were the main characters being adults the most popular at the time? Because that could easily explain it.
@@bryn1063 technically. A large majority were animals, but the few humans were usually adults. Or weird semi-childlike animal things.
Lots of Stevie U fans I see. This vid has almost as many views as Harry Gold has subscribers. While technically a mineral/metal, Harry would be a gem of an addition to anyone's in-universe set, entirely wholesome, fan fic
Why did you turn Steven in the first few ones into a 50 year old man? That's not what 13 year olds look like. 😭
This channel is so underrated. Even the ad was amazing.
13:43 I call this art style Family Burgers and Morty
More like family guy and american dad
"F is for Bojack Brickle PD"
I like to call it the Netflix animation art style
Angry man, the drawing is of an angry man. The angriest man of the movie I'd say!
9:36 Let me tell you something 'bout a friend of ours-a named Jimmy
a made-a wise guy and a capo with a gambini
