sexxy red just isnt very good and melon likes her projects despite disliking many of her contemporaries with a similar sound its just inconsistent, and sure opinions and all that but its pretty obvious he just keeps bringing her up because he thinks its funny and is trying to drive up engagement

I listened to the Group Therapy album recently bc Anthony mentioned it and man oh man what a surprise, fantastic, I'm a very casual music fan but that album is amazing, definitely among the best of the year

I think he still feels very much the same but since it is a shorter record I guess he takes that into account I think he placed it at 25 on his year end list so there is that

I understand fantano’s argument of the vulgarity of male rappers being on a similar level to what Sexxy Red is doing. This doesn’t change the fact that I feel as though Sexxy Red’s take on vulgarity is one note at best and doesn’t compare to the expansiveness of Danny brown on something like XXX.

@zjay Danny Brown is an amazing lyricist that utilizes vulgarity in his songs just like Sexxy Red attempts to do. I think it’s a prime comparison. Maybe it’s just me.

@gabehammack5237 Which is what I don't understand. He says her lyrics are funny and clever, but they are really basic, so I dont get the infatuation. Vulgarity in hip hop is not a new or shocking thing. She doesn't even bring anything new or interestingto the table.
Now, look at someone like Cupcakke. No one sounds like her or will ever sound like her. She ACTUALLY does have the wit and sense of humor to make her lyrics work, as crazy as some of them are. Sexxy Red will never be Cupcakke.

Both are great but I feel like their music has a lot more of a refreshing and exciting personality at this point, Woods's the better lyricist than any of them but the album overall isn't anywhere near as memorable and fun to listen to, but that's just me, I can see the argument against that
