These train's are beautiful well done to the engineers , you must know what you are doing it can not be easy to drive these train's . Keep up the good work .
After cleaning a mess up when I worked on B&LE RR in my early 20s. I would give people some advice not to run through the gates when a train is approaching but I just get I am faster then the training moving not always the case they may be throttling up to go onto the main line. Anyway, you couldn't tell that there had been anybody in the car that got hit by a train pieces of the occupants and the car were scattered everywhere.
The last two engines were damaged so they were taken to Winston for repairs. And the engine already had a blown line, just wasn't noticed till too late.
As an engineer myself, the best way here would had been to cut away from the train that he had just hooked into by a car or two, so that he could get to the air hose with that wrench. Otherwise you are just fighting yourself.
thank everyone! i'd respond to everyone but my computer is being repaired and the app wont let me. but as soon as the computer is fixed, we will be uploading again!
Do you know if all the units were on line,or if they were making a power move besides the freight? Most railroads, and I thought the CSX,has a 24 axle limit rule. You can have many units you want, but they are limited to 24 axles that can be "on-line" with power.
Taking the slack out with too much power, could result of snapping a coupler. Also going down hill, and going into dynamic braking could cause a derailment due to quick hard braking.
Should not every loco have tools for that simple repairs on board? Is the trainline hose size not always the same?Just wonder why searching so long for the right spanner.Highly interesting.
I'm a Freight Conductor and Locomotive Engineer. I work in a rail yard. We service an auto plant and two metal plants. I would like to transfer to the railroad someday. If I do, should I expect people to be filming me from time to time?
Well framed video! Time to get a tripod. Why not uncouple and move a few feet away to make room for the brake hose change? Of the 7? locomotives, how many were operating?
Run for your life...oh sorry wrong page.Awesome vid,i guess there is always something going on while filming. How do they brake the line? The loco coupled with a hard impact, but that was not the course.Yes such a simple hose can delay everything. Thanks for sharing.
I'm wondering why they would need 7 locomotives for such a short consist. I can only speculate that they're just hauling locomotives from one point to another.
Can you include where you are shooting? (City, State, etc?) Probably no where close to me in Maryland, but it is always good to know of other places to railfan.
Usually it doesn't take so long to locate. I wondered the same myself. Unless additional fittings were broken, maybe that's why the original spanner didn't fit.
Maybe it´s simpler to use an adjustable wrench.I work everyday with hydraulic hoses and it´s the same, there so much different sizes, just not possible to carry all spanners. So i guess he had to do with a newer hose from a different brand. They have smaller or wider fittings and than you are screwed.Bye the way when looking on old Chessie vids they used adjustable spanners for the hoses.
Mike Day nope that wasnt hard at all, that was maybe 2-3 mph, the rule for maximum coupling speed for freight is 4 mph, I've seen it done at like 8-10 mph and its really not at big deal. these structures are made tough. As long as your not coupling to a large cut of cars at ''high speed'' there's no real danger for derailing.
@@kralikz4839 I did not ask how you cared? Where did I ask if you cared? Obviously English is not your primary language but that is ok. But obviously it bothers you. It sounds like I have a front row seat to your illiterate way of communicating.
Air compressors/reservoirs being pressurized. If the pressure is excess, sometimes the system will "bleed" out some air which is another thing the ticking could be.
Possible injury claim in the future. The brake stick is nice sometimes but, it really changes your body mechanics when working with a remote control receiver vest with the remote control box mounted on it .So far i haven't heard of a brake wheel free spinning and jamming the stick at anybody yet but, time will tell.
SeaboardRailfanner See if you can locate and add to your gearbag, something called a monopod. It's essentially a single leg of a tripod more or less, with a standard threaded fitting to affix the camera with. Generally they are collapsible giving you your height adjustment.
+schrap72 They ran out of left side paint so they had to use the right side paint that day. ;-) Somebody just fouled up and used the wrong stencil. It happens. Doesn't really do anything and it isn't a safety problem so it just gives the modelers something else to duplicate when they do a model of that unit. The question is, is the other side wrong too?
gravelydon it’s so that they can release a DLC for Train Simulators for that train with its “special” lightning bolt. Even if it’s exactly the same otherwise as another locomotive of the same model.
No where near as bad as when there were several different makers competing with each other for business when diesels were replacing steam. One maker, Baldwin, even had the nerve to use their own proprietary MU connections which didn't work with other makes. Now there are only 2 US makers who can couple their engines interchangeably.
Thanks for all the views everyone! Please check out my channel if you like what you see! I've posted a lot more in the years since this video!
Haha the wrong size wrench and the guy banging around in the cab looking for it got me. 7:49
Yeah, he needed a metric wrench.
Great and interesting video. Most people have never seen a power move.
These train's are beautiful well done to the engineers , you must know what you are doing it can not be easy to drive these train's . Keep up the good work .
The long pole is the hand brake pole which is used to apply and release the hand brakes from the ground instead of climbing on the cars
Im watching this years later and that stick is now banned from use entirely and you can be written up for having one HAHA
On csx maybe on ns we still use em quite often.
Thanx for the great video. Good that the blown hose was picked up before they left and didn't blown on route..
I love the old school SD40-2 leading the pack.....
When locomotives had character
Great video! I would've been sooooo pissed if I was the conductor. Awesome power move, too!
That's a lot of blue and yellow muscle there.
*Think it's BIG ENOUGH?!!! LOL - **7:37* *Genius!!! LOL - **7:54** , **8:46*
Cool power move!! Great content
Good vid...enjoyed the captions, especially about the wrench. We have all been there...lol...
"Ain't that the truth". Using 2 different measuring systems doesn't help either/
Excellent !!! James.
nice video and great catch of the csx power move.
I've never seen so many locomotives hooked up at the same time!.

I like the visual commentary.
Just another day on csx
The last two engines were damaged so they were taken to Winston for repairs. And the engine already had a blown line, just wasn't noticed till too late.
The video was great!!! Can't wait to see more!!
I hear a Millennium Force! Great Video.

Jacob w what rail road company do u WORk for.
Jacob w
Never heard of them the goal for me is to work for csx
DKG Nukes LOL You really think there is a railroad called "Jacob W"?
A major class 1. But because of their social media policies, I wont say who I work for, because even if it is "innocent", I could get into trouble.
A nice mix.
Fortunately train safely moved and hose repaired at the shops
Computer will be back on Friday, so we should be back to uploading on a more regular basis this weekend!

Very Nice video of CSX!!!
7:40 CSX could save some time and money if they equipped each locomotive with a Crescent adjustable wrench of suitable size.
¡ Que brutal acumulaciòn de potencia !, extraordinario.
Thanks for the Great footage - I Liked & Subscribed 👍😎

Wow the timing to catch this
Right place at the right time! Plant City used to be THE place to be in the mornings.
What is the significance of the blown hose ?
Looks like a awesome catch thinking it's just a cool power move until they blew the brake line keep up the great work
Whar was the metal pole he was carrying around?
it is called a Break Stick, it allows them to set/knock the car breaks from the ground instead of having to climb onto the cars to do it.
thank everyone! i'd respond to everyone but my computer is being repaired and the app wont let me. but as soon as the computer is fixed, we will be uploading again!

I wonder who the conductor was fixing the air hose

only the lead unit was online
I'm just asking, what's the purpose of the 24 axle rule?
Taking the slack out with too much power, could result of snapping a coupler. Also going down hill, and going into dynamic braking could cause a derailment due to quick hard braking.

+Jamie Cochrane Most likely, filming and saluting. :D
Yes. But they like you so.
People filming and train masters trying to fire you.
I know the feeling.
Well framed video! Time to get a tripod.
Why not uncouple and move a few feet away to make room for the brake hose change?
Of the 7? locomotives, how many were operating?
Tripod would be ideal. There are some very cheap ones that are very good.
They probley just taking them back to the yard or to where ever they are going! They usually only use two for the power and the rest are offline
Re wreck, size matters!
Why are the locomotive numbers duplicated on the front of the locomotives? Wouldn't one set be enough?
They're duplicated so the engine numbers can be read from different angles.
Don't know if you noticed but the lighting bolt on CSX 780 was backwards
I never knew lightning bolts were directional! :)
CSX didn't notice either.
i like train vidoes on youtube
yeah i am a railfan
Should've mended it with a newspaper & a leather bootlace!

It was a power transfer from two staging yards to the main yard at winston.

To Alex Wilson it's a brake stick to take hand brakes off
Great video keep up the good work!
I always look to see if a train wether the warning lights are on or not on, i do not want to get crushed
Great video!!!!
Usually it doesn't take so long to locate. I wondered the same myself. Unless additional fittings were broken, maybe that's why the original spanner didn't fit.
Well that was a waste of multiple heads. Only one engine was required for such a short train.

You have great videos!
Was that Alan Smith I just heard there
nice catch
Why did the engineer slam into that tank car so hard?
Hard? They ain't making watches out there man.
Boss302fan Perhaps the liquid contents need occasional shaking.
Mike Day nope that wasnt hard at all, that was maybe 2-3 mph, the rule for maximum coupling speed for freight is 4 mph, I've seen it done at like 8-10 mph and its really not at big deal. these structures are made tough. I like this
thanks for telling the model number of each engine
Scroll up 6 posts to the question by The VANDAL and read the reply.
Nice catch!!!
+Railroad Spike Productions thank you!
Where was the buffer car for the tankers? Good short video.
ivanoffw you don’t always need a buffer car
no buffer needed... the head car is carrying molten sulphur
Dude, your voice is so cute.
Where is a harbor freight close by when you need one!
Why so many locos for a train of under 30 cars, only 1 loco could of got the job done. Nice catch 👍
You don't know what work they have beyond this point. They might be picking up 12000 tons 2 miles away

wrap it with duct tape. lol
Why so many engines?
Happy Thanksgiving USA!!!!
Indeed!
your Welcome!!
Nice
Anyone know what those constant burst of air that sound like ticking is?Is it the air dryers?
Air compressors/reservoirs being pressurized. If the pressure is excess, sometimes the system will "bleed" out some air which is another thing the ticking could be.
moisture being blown out of air supplies
Condensate spitters. Has nothing to do with pressure.
Don't turn your back on that train when it goes by. NOT a good idea.
ya think 7 trains is a bit overboard? and is all that clicking air valves?
It's probably a transfer of engines to another location to perform duties where they are needed or in need of a maintenance facility.
What's in that room? Where he opened the door to
Chris Rice bathroom, tools, window washer reservoir if they have them, etc
I'm guessing MillenniumForce was with you on that last scene?
possibly, I'd have to see the video again. I do not associate with him and have not for several years now
+SeaboardRailfanner Aww, why not, he seems like a cool person.
Yes Mallimeumforrce always is at plant city
"There's a power move coming! Run away!" Even if the voice weren't recognizable, this could only be one guy.
Why does the brakeman carry a pole?
It's a brake stick used to apply and release the hand brakes.
What's that ticking sound I keep hearing? I don't know how to describe it. Sort of a "Ch-ch-ch-ch" sound.
Thanks! It reminded me of the sounds that the radiators at my old school would make.
I must be the only person that dosen T trust the signals and slows down to look at a RailRoad crossing.
What do you mean blown hose? Its hanging down and got caught on a crossing or switch.
the hose split.
you look like the hose
+Miquel King so does your mom
I hear Alan.
Where is the safety car behind the loco?
Six safety engines instead ...
dam1041960 there is no need for it in this case. Engines can’t be considered a buffer car
What crossing bell is that at 11:31?
Anyone know what the long pole the conductor is carrying is used for?
Putting on or take off the hand brakes without climbing on the cars..
Thank you for the info. Good to know for the future when I'm trackside

Wonder if they make a tripod that fits your camera???
Goat Roper what do you mean
I think he MAY be trying to suggest that your camera management and stability may leave a lot to be desired? Just taking a wild guess there.
Well considering it was handheld because I was walking down the tracks keeping pace with him, a tripod was out of the question.

It's called a air hose
