Just purchased the fuel keg refill adapter and 2 fuel keg refillable bottles at tractor supply for $71.20 today 1-3-2025 total out the door. They priced matched home depot and Amazon prices 😊 Filled the bottle up eazy pezy😊
cant believe they cant fix that sleeve issuse . Happened to me on the second fill ,leaked alot of propane when fitting it to mr buddy . These should be bullet proof for the price
The issue with the bushing and o ring is something I experienced with the first fill after buying 2 tanks and the filler setup. Now I verify every time I refill and remove. It's happened with both tanks.
Thank you very much for the update. I had the flame game system I've got three 1 lb bottles.... Use some three or four times more of a prepping item. Using the little buddy I noticed refilling the flame King bottle yesterday that even though the little set screw bleeder valve is in their tight I still smell a little propane. I put the bottle in a bucket of water and I don't see anything leaking. That's concerning as I use these bottles maybe three or four times. Why are the issue with the flame King is a little allen wrench that is easily lost and I believe the bleeder screw is way way too small... That little bleeder valve set screw will you put the Allen wrench in is easily stripped out. I really like the Mr heater fuel tank system especially the more robust bleeder valve. I'm going to switch from flame King over to the Mr heater system. Thanks again for the update!
A-Lost O -ring /sleeve from one of mine . So now i get to switch them back and forth each use. which is BS. Now one of the tanks slowly leaks when filling and doesn't work quite right as it should. Since its brand new. And def not fun in freezing cold . Everyone comments on this flaw. So I'm sure they are aware of it now even if they weren't beforehand, although they should have . A 5-year-old could hook up maybe 5 or 10 of them and would run into this problem. Don't they test their product. Me thinks FLAMMABLE gas leaking, etc from their new and improved "safe" refilling system is kind of important. And they still keep selling these things knowing that flaw. At least put a sticker on the box saying to pay attention to THEIR flaw. Instead of stating "NO tools required" Well.... not besides the $30 special adapter which IS required . I myself and others who i see have asked the same question about tanks only filling halfway. We only found out on you tube. I would Bet it's lots of fun when you bring one of these on ur lil trip and the O-ring "falls off" B- these weigh 24 oz when empty. Or "about a pound and a half" in their words . When an exact number might be just be rather important info that should be shared. Since we are refilling these shit built GAS tanks at home . After PROPERLY filling my 2tanks till solid stream of white vapor escaped. One weighed 44oz, the other 48. Shouldnt they weigh 40oz? Tops. Since 16oz (1lb) of propane was added to 24oz. Like I said one of my tanks held 50% more than it was supposed to. I guess thats fine. But is it safe? Who knows ? THEY DONT . Because I emailed the company with these questions . About a week and a half later I received a return email from someone. (Idk ... Maybe Billy Bob from the overnight cleaning crew) Stating that I should just fill it until the white vapor escapes from the top. Nothing about the weight, the differences in weight, the o-ring etc etc. I myself don't think I should have to fiddle around with little miniscule pieces on something that i just purchased. . In THE COLD. So I returned my two JUNK tanks and their special adapter and got my $80 back . And will continue to refill my SAFE green Coleman tanks like ive been doing over the past 10 years. Bad business to KNOWINGLY continue to sell a FLAWED and quite possibly DANGEROUS product while using scare tactics to tell the consumer that refilling the Coleman tanks is not only dangerous but against the law . While fully aware that THEY continue to sell a flawed and dangerous product. That is all . Thanks and Stay Safe😊
I am assuming the Flame King tank works the same way after filling and will not leak propane if the small set screw is opened or comes loose? The only way they can be bled off is while they are hooked up to their own proprietary connectors?
I think one of the weirdest things about the Fuel Keg is when I ordered it on Amazon (as new) it came in a random cardboard box with no packaging and no instructions at all. Nothing about only being compatible with the Fuel Keg Refill system. It was literally only the bottle. I had to look online to see how to use the thing. If it wasn’t for these videos I would have done everything wrong. Now I don’t know if the seller is responsible for the lack of included information and instructions or if this is actually how these are sold. I have another one coming, I’m curious to see how that one will arrive.
I want to like these very much but I don't like it that the rubber o-ring and plastic sleeve comes out of these tanks in the refil process. If they don't need to be in the tank, just stop putting them in there. Flame King has this same O-ring and sleeve but it doesn't come out of the tank. I have contacted Fuel Keg to let them know about this issue. I have 6 Fuel Kegs but I won't be buying more. They need to fix this issue.
Just got the Mr heater refill system and have 4 fuel kegs on the way. Great video and super reliable system . The guys out there refilling those green tanks are idiots. Saw a cut out of the fuel keg and green Disposable tanks side by side . Fuel keg is really thick and fully welded . Green tanks are flimsy and braided . NO WAY IN HELL Would I EVER REFILL THOSE GREEN TANKS. Someone's gonna die before people pull their heads out of their asses. That old saying rings true. JUST BECAUSE UOU CAN DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD.
Thinking about getting the fuel keg refillable bottles. Do I have to get the fuel keg refillable adapter or can I use a standard refillable adapter from another supplier?
Recently purchased a Big Buddy and 4 fuel kegs. 2 of the kegs refill no problem, audibly venting the entire time. The other 2 hiss for a few seconds then… nothing. No noise or anything being released. Do I have 2 defective tanks or is it “normal” to not hear and feel venting the whole time?
Follow up: After the response to my comment here I contacted FuelKeg via their website with the exact same question. I was contacted via email by FuelKeg who asked for a pic of the stamped serial numbers from the bottles. Did the best I could with that and within a few hours I got a reply that 2 new kegs would be sent as warranty replacements.
No problem at all. Other than 2 faulty kegs we're loving our first foray into propane heating (450 sq. ft detached garage that my wife use as our hangout space).
@@randytricker8585People on UA-cam have cut them open, they are much thinner construction. Also, the Fuel Keg tanks have the valve to vent them out while filling so you get a proper fill. The fuel kegs are dot certified, a refilled single use one is illegal to transport, that should tell you a lot.
@mrdiggie3321 its also illegal to get done work and crack a beer on your way home. I still do. So can a person just not put .7 pounds in and weigh the cans. Burp the gas off until satisfied. Boy oh boy the law has you scared eh. 🤙🤑
