I have taken somewhat of a centrist position in that acknowledging that Hamas is a terrorist organization and did terrible things, and that there are civilians of Palestine who fully support Hamas as well. But I am also at least smart enough to also recognize that Israel has proportionately killed far more civilians than Hamas has and therefore they are not equally bad. Killing a civilian is equally bad and the more you do it, the worse it gets. So while killing an Israeli and a Palestinian civilian is equally as bad, killing 10 Palestinians is worse than killing an Israeli. Both wrong, but death counts are at an unequal distribution and that is why you can't use Appeal to Moderation in that part of the discourse.

He's the only one that actually made arguments. The centerist guy did nothing, and the woman next to him was, meh but said the right positions, while Emily just contradicts herself and deflects.
"Tone policing"? Why retreat to random buzzwords? This wasn't a Twitter exchange, it was Hasan agreeing to go on a show he knew would be hostile to him and then getting mad when they were hostile to him. The tone is literally the key factor here, because he's only going to make his position look unreasonable to viewers who aren't already on his side by taking the bait.

He tried to behave admirably here, but ultimately got out-shouted and ended up returning the favor. When there's a hit-piece going on, you deserve to at least try to defend yourself.
Hasan doesn't acknowledge Ukraine's independent culture or how it's basically Ireland of Eastern Europe. Or Cuba in leftists circles. A colony that broke from its master in a popular rebellion. Except it still has democracy and its former master is actively conquering bits of it.
I'd lose it too if I was being smothered by the host and 2 panelists demanding over and over that I condemn Hamas and Oct 7 after having already condemned Oct 7 and Hamas.
I love the "I don't see the outrage toward hamas." Like, it's so cool to first demand repeatedly that someone condemn hamas and then, once you can't pretend they haven't, insist that they aren't demonstrating sufficient outrage in their condemnations.
Debates like these aren't about having a good faith discussion. They're largely about making people like Piers look bad to push their audience to look elsewhere for information.

People 100% lost the standard regarding “debate optics”, this is not some dumb culture war point, he was not debating Andrew Tate online where “presenting as a triggered lib” would be the end all be all, this was a debate on national television, about a decades long ongoing genocide, of which the public perception of is finally beginning to shift because of how overdrive Israel has gone. I believe that’s a completely different stage, where he was speaking to a completely different audience, where his anger would be easily seen as righteous indignation. At the very least his energy matches the vibe. If anything, acting like a detached asshole would be far more of an optics failure, he isn’t speaking to an audience of young men who fell into the alt right pipeline and only need a mean strongman to deradicalize them. I'm literally the same age and she acts like she's 14 my god
How is she younger than me? That camera makes her look ancient
That black woman took Enlightened Centrism to a new level. It's wrong to call one side terrorists, and the other side genocide-defenders. Except that one side actually condemned Hamas, while the other side is defending Israel's genocide.
she actually was right more than i expected her to be, though i guess that is in comparison to lady israel herself so it doesnt mean much
She was far more even handed in her critizisms then leh pink haired dweeb or the highlighted demon.
"While the other side is defending - what I'm choosing to call* Israel's genocide"
For this to work, "both sides" have to agree that it's "genocide" or else you're starting from a conclusion and working your way back. That's not how it works.
"You say your'e against genocide but you haven't answered my question, do you condemn natives who kill american colonial settlers yes or no?"
Mind you, the left-wingers who *unironically* do this are actually insufferable, but it would be funny to make the point by demanding that a person condemn every atrocious thing the United States has done before allowing them to just be sad about 9/11.
LITERALLY
…do you?
It's insane how the pro Isreal side are like video game npcs that have like 4 dialogue options. "Do you condemn Hamas?" is like their default voice line.
"Being asked if you condemn Hamas makes you wish for a nuclear winter."
“Hey you! You’re finally awake. Do you condemn Hamas??”
Dont forget "both sides are loud and bad!" when you have nothing useful to say that isnt a platitude of the ambivalent and weak willed.
Love how Piers said “let me remind everyone I’m moderating this panel” then proceeded to actually just debate Hasan
i like Vaush(mostly), but his chatters are completely deadbrained.... Hasan lost his temper a bit, but overall did well

He said as they blow everything up and take land
He did well, I was legit proud of him.
People that say he didn't do well are just tone policing. He made all the points they were willing to allow him to make... And the panel deserved to be popped off on for their dishonesty.
@@Nuvizzle Well it wasn't random words chose out of a hat, tone policing is exactly what your position is. He made every point he needed to make (that you could reasonably expect someone to make with the goofs he was sitting with talking over him). Any logical person would already be on his side by that point. And would be thinking basically what he was saying by the end....
Sounds like you're back in the 90's with your pearl clutching. In todays political atmosphere, people don't mind authenticity in their politicians or political commentary.
Lightly dancing around what you really want to say and what your opponent really deserves to hear, doesn't win you any points outside of people like you that want to civility hump everybody, micromanaging everyones tones, ignoring the substance of what's been said.

Very fair coverage Vaush; honestly despite his pro-China stance, I really don't see why so many other left-wing creators are in such opposition to Hasan.

I love the "I don't see the outrage toward hamas." Like, it's so cool to first demand repeatedly that someone condemn hamas and then, once you can't pretend they haven't, insist that they aren't demonstrating sufficient outrage in their condemnations.
but do you condemn hamas?
If you're trying to have an actual Good Faith Discussion. I honestly can't think of any Legitimate reasons to ever go on Piers Morgan's show. 🤷🏿♂️
This is free advertising for Hasan, for one. It extends his reach, which is broadly good
Piers team cut out part of his interview.
Debates like these aren't about having a good faith discussion. They're largely about making people like Piers look bad to push their audience to look elsewhere for information.
@dynamicworlds1 I’d say it’s more like a Gladiator/Maury show for every online political circle to fight to the death so Piers can stuff his pockets.

"You tried to have a serious interview with Crackhead Barbie?"
Edit: omg Hasan kicked ass here
People 100% lost the standard regarding “debate optics”, this is not some dumb culture war point, he was not debating Andrew Tate online where “presenting as a triggered lib” would be the end all be all, this was a debate on national television, about a decades long ongoing genocide, of which the public perception of is finally beginning to shift because of how overdrive Israel has gone.
God, some folks see every debate in the light of 2020/2021 Twitch Politics. The times shifted.
I'm 15 minutes into the video and I'm already so annoyed that I don't want to keep watching. Not only are the "arguments" that lady is mentioning completely idiotic and illogical, but Hasan can't even get a word out without Piers interrupting and diverting the conversation. This is a mockery of a debate.
Don’t love Hasan however the way he said “you tried to do a serious interview with crackhead Barbie?” At the start fucking sent me.
Every time I see Vaush react to a panel thing I wish he was on said panel.

Hasan responded exactly appropriately, these "debate panels" have gone past the point of farcical. His only mistake was going on Piers Morgan, in the first place. Dude's a completely disingenuous clown and none of this crap is designed to inform anyone.
Of course. If one would make educational content one would not invite Hasan.
Not a huge Hasan fan, but he was 100% justified in everything he said here, including his anger
