outstanding film. moreover, there is no longer any excuse as to why you can't realize your dream as a filmmaker, so long as you have a smartphone and $8 to spend on an app.
Good to see you guys reviewing movies off the beaten track. Fun rental. Alonso, you were right about Starlet. Just watched in IMDB for free. Interesting study about friendship. Who can you trust and why. Dree Hemingway . . . I've never noticed her before. Credible job relating to a much older woman. Story didn't fall into expected cliches so I enjoyed the journey. Gratuitious sex totally unnecessary, but easily ignored for the real story beneath the hype. Thanks for the lead. Never would have found this one on my own.
this was one crazy ride of a movie! The chaos is obvious but the relationships are why you stay and watch. It felt real and it was well acted and directed. Editing is great.
As a direct result of this review, me & my friend caught a showing at Cinema 21 in Portland. Loved it, so much fun, loved the ending. As an LA native (Boyle Heights) it captured the feel of the city well.
I gotta say, I don't give a shit about correct LA geography, it honestly doesn't matter to me in a film. I guess this is only bugging me because this is the second time this summer a film's depiction of LA geography has been mention in a WTF review (the other being Entourage because of how inaccurate it was). If a movie was set in Milwaukee or Toronto would you care about if the geography of those cities were depicted accurately?
It's not just LA geography that most films get wrong, it's all geography. No movie has ever gotten San Francisco right, that one I know for sure because I am from there. I imagine that no movie gets New York right, nor any city in the world. Hollywood is fucking shit at geography in general, it's not just LA.
markalexander774 Yeah, it's basically just LA folks who are self-centered enough to care about the geography over what the movie is trying to do. Movie's don't have to be realistic, they can just use what works to tell the story.
markalexander774 True Detective seems to have a knack for capturing the local geography fairly well. This season has told me more about the Ventura County freeway system then I really ever wanted to know :)
True, although it's supposed to be some real town outside of LA that I can't remember the name of. I've only been to California once and that was nearly 30 years ago...
My biggest worry is the characters will be unsympathetic and unlikable. But since you guys praised it so highly I'm going to assume that's not the case.
Likable characters aren't mandatory, I rather have interesting characters than likable and sympathetic characters. We as people are many times unlikeable and likable as well.
You're misunderstanding my point, if the characters annoy the shit out of me and have not a shred of what most would consider a redeemable quality than I'm not going to give a shit about them. Even villains who do despicable things have this. They have to have some redeemable quality(whether that's a suave, cunning attitude, intelligence, captivating performance, etc), but most importantly not annoy me with their obnoxious behavior, which again is my worry when it comes to this film. I hate stupid loud mouth people so a move about a group of some is not the most enticing thing.
the trailer makes it seem like it was going to be hilarious but fuck id rather die than watch that again lmao out of context, its a great movie but jesus
i was in this movie. credited as ''friend on the block''
Tangerine is a such a vibrant, lurid pleasure. Did not expect this to be one of my favorites of 2015 but it absolutely is in my Top 5 so far.
i like WTF so much, i often watch reviews of a movie i have zero intention of seeing
So you're basically saying you won't watch this.
Enrique Godinez the review is very good - so maybe
it's really a great movie.
"I know that stretch of Hollywood very very well" Say no more.
omg
Saw it today and loved it. It was funny at yet touching at the end.
i was very impressed with the ending.... the humanity and charm was very genuine. a great film all around.
I'll be looking forward to this for sure. But Alonso's laugh towards the end killed me, lmao. Love that guy.

I loved this movie.

Gratuitous sex? Isn't that what people are always saying about every sex scene?
Enrique Godinez Not this time. Seemed to appear only to verify Jane's vocation. Unnecessary.

This won`t get a release here were I live. Have to wait for a home-release.
+Joachim Lothe-Rikenberg It's on netflix now
Sounds a lot like Heaven Knows What, which was good, but hard to watch.
Did you guys happen to go to the Sydney Film Festival?
Such a great movie

Shadowman4710 I'll wait for the Vice video break-down of the real Vinci.

I've been waiting for this review for a while.
I enjoyed this movie as much as I could enjoy a well filmed movie.
One of the best movies
want Alonso's shirt!
I thought Mr Rogers was dead?
A beautiful disaster !
Cute laugh
this movie was base and terrible, could've been good. Wasn't.
