Wilt was unstoppable tornado 🌪 & wheeling toward the basket 🧺 to score more points
My family went to see the Harlem Globetrotters a number of times (we lived in New Jersey not far from NYC) during 1959. They had this amazing "point guard"; what was his name? Oh yeah, Wilt. I "followed" him into the NBA - seeing as many (tape-delayed) broadcasts as were available in the NYC broadcast area.
Many years later, I went to a game in San Diego. I was seated in an aisle seat when Wilt walked up the steps. He dwarfed me. I was staring at him in awe; so he stopped and gave me the most gentle smile (typical for him). Unfortunately, I couldn't utter a word; so "my claim to fame" is more embarrassment than anything else - lol.
At that time I swore I'd never let any such similar opportunity pass me by. Then a few years later, I was running long-distance in San Diego's Balboa Park. I crossed paths with (almost crashed into) this giant red-head on a bicycle. It was Bill Walton. I was awe-struck again; and could only stare and smile. He smiled back.
Please. Consider the competition and the lane size.
Also consider that Wilt was not allowed to take 2 steps forward and an additional Euro step to the side. With today's rules Wilt would AVERAGE 100 points / game.
The rim is still the same. You must be young to say something so dumb
