@@Jorge-Perez I have an M9P. It's an interesting camera an hearkens back to the earlier days of photography. I'm older so I remember the old days of rangefinders and when SLRs were a big new deal. It's a well made camera with amazing glass but also a bit of a disappointment. Of course there was the sensor corrosion issue but as great as Leica's were as film cameras, electronics and technology just isn't their strength. Of course that's a huge deal in digital cameras. I don't care about the prestige aspect of owning one. I am disappointed in the colour science. The Fujifilm offers a similar experience (perhaps without the prestige, if that matters) but they know how to do electronics. I also much prefer the colour science and general look of the photos. This is also very true of the Nikon Z7. The Z7 offers the size and weight of the Leica but as a tool does everything and does it outstandingly. I have an adapter to use my Leica lenses and also have Zeiss lenses for my Nikons. You can set the camera to be as simple as you wish or go completely manual and change any possible parameter to suit your purpose or situation. For some people, the aura and history of owning a Leica is enough but I think that Bresson or Fenninger, if they were alive today, would be using Fujifilms or Nikons.
@@amanbahodia no worries, I say go for it as a starter camera, if I'm using it a lot this coming year and enjoy it, then I'll start to look at the X100F or eventually the V 👌🏻
Back button focusing is fantastic! One thing I don't quite understand though. So i prefer to shoot through the optical view finder and the one digital assist there that is helpful is the indicator of green when I have the center thing in focus. I get this using the auto focus but then I hate how slow it is. With back button focusing, do you have to use the LCD screen to frame shots in order to know that your target is actually in focus before shooting?
Hello. Thank you for this run through. I am thinking of going for the X100s. The only thing is I use the older version of lightroom. Would the raw files from the X100x work with lightroom 5? Thank you
I use spot metering just as a reference since I mainly shoot in manual mode, I expose for the highlights and don't worry about the shadows. You can always bring the shadows up, but it's very difficult to bring the highlights down If they are clipped. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share a comment as well! Cheers ✨🙌🏼
I wish the X100 had an articulating screen and an ISO dial within the shutterspeed dial like the X100V. I honestly prefer the older sensor and definitely the old design over the new one by far!
That would be cool! I love the dials on my x100v, I don't really use the articulating screen, but I can see how that would be a great feature for people out there. There's something special about the image quality and look of the older sensors, I hope goes back to that film quality eventually! Thanks for taking the time to watch this video and leave a comment as well! 😁🙌🏼
Both the T & B on the shutter dial are for long time exposure modes, the T stands for "time" and the B for "bulb". With the T selected, you can choose a shutter speed between 1/2 sec and 30 sec in steps of 1/3 EV. Hope that helps and the video were useful as well. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts! I appreciate it! 🙏🏼✨

It depends on the mode. If you shoot with the OVF and disable the back display, then the battery will last a very long time, days or weeks even. If you shoot with the EVF mainly or use the back display a lot for reviewing photos, then I would say less than a full day. I would recommend having a second battery just in case. Hope that helps! thanks for watching and for taking the time to share a comment as well! Cheers 🙌🏼😁
question - I'm looking to purchase my first camera (the x100) and I am very new to photography. The seller wrote "In very good condition. There is a small dirt speck when viewing through the EVF, when using the OVF does not show the speck. It of course does not affect the image" I'm confused how what he means - would you be able to explain :(
This camera is discontinued and official support is no longer provided. It’s not an easy fix, since the shutter is inside the lens and the lens is not removable, so it requires an extensive teardown. You could still potentially find unofficial repair centres, like smaller shops or local repairs, things like that. But not from Fujifilm directly. It would be easier to check before purchasing one, and testing it yourself. Hope that helps, thanks for watching and reaching out, cheers!
Thank you Jorge! I recently bought a used X100 in mint condition. I followed your guides in setting it up including the 2015, latest, firmware. However, I can only take good pictures with everything in auto mode. And if I put it in MF mode, it does not work. Photos are always too dark and sometimes black even I used F2.0 with 1/60 second in normal outdoor situation. I wonder my camera have problems and have been thinking about taking it to inspection or repair. Would you mind giving me your suggestions? Thanks xxx
Hi Jorge Thankyou for such guide and tell us how to set the camera for the street photography and I'd like to appreciate the results of your shoot, it's great. I know this is gonna be a long comment, but I need to tell it in detail, so you and the other user who have experience in using X100 can help me about what I am dealing with. I am new in photography, this x100 is the first camera that I got. I don't get the camera by intention (buy), I received it from my boss as a tool for me to work. I have a lot of job list, one of its I work as cameraman for the school institution and other companies. I have explore the camera before I found your video I notice two problem: 1. When I change to MF(Manual Focus) the screen gets blurry 2. In MF mode, Whenever I tried to use AFL botton to change the focus, it getting messages error: Turn of the camera and turn on again I don't know if that's problem related with S.A.B (I hope it's not the S.A.B) I hope you can give me an advice Thankyou for your attention Keep up your great work
Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment as well. I'm not sure I can help, but I'll try: 1. Make sure you update to the firmware. 2. Are you using the original battery? (Some cameras act up when the battery is third party, like Canon for example) 3. I personally don't think it's SAB, since that affect the actual physical blades and not the operation of the camera. 4. If those steps don't help, then perhaps is something internal that needs repairing, at that point is just cheaper to buy another one, honestly. I hope that helps, and thank you for watching and commenting! I appreciate it! 🙏🏼
@@Jorge-Perez thankyou for the advice, it means a lot I have check The firmware and it's in 2.11 I couldn't confirm if the camera that I use are using original Fujifilm battery, but the brand in the battery is fujifilm. Overall the auto Focus still oke .. I think I have to learn and explore how to operate the camera
Most of these, yes. There might be some small differences in the wording, or minor additions, but for the most part are the same thing. If you get the camera and there's something that does not translate from this video, then let me know and I'll give you a hand! Thanks for watching and taking the time to share a comment as well! IF everything works well (the camera is not beat up, broken, damaged, etc) and it does NOT have the SAB issue, then I 100% recommend it. The viewfinder alone makes it worth it for me. I know the x70 also has an aps-c sensor, but the lens on the x100 is 35mm equivalent. If you have watched my previous videos then you know I am an advocate of using a viewfinder instead of a screen, and 35mm instead of 28mm. If all of that sounds good to you, and the camera is not wrecked, then that is one hell of a deal! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment as well! I appreciate it! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts as well! Keep me posted on how things go and your experiences with the camera! Cheers 😁🙌🏼
Can you charge the camera just plugging the cable into it? Thanks
Good video! Thanks! What a little gem of a camera. I've had mine since new in 2011. I have Leica, Nikon D810 and Z7 but this camera is sweet. I actually prefer it to my Leica.
Thanks for sharing! Interesting to hear that, which Leica do you have? I think most photographers dream of having a Leica camera, so it's very interesting to hear your perspective.
How's the X100 treating you? curious to hear your thoughts! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share a comment s well! I appreciate it ✨🙌🏼
@@Jorge-Perez I have an M9P. For some people, the aura and history of owning a Leica is enough but I think that Bresson or Fenninger, if they were alive today, would be using Fujifilms or Nikons.
is there any reason why you use "SOFT" in Sharpness Option?
Hey, thanks for this with the firmware advice. I just bought an X100 and was on Ver 1.30 now on Ver 2.11
Hi! Thinking of buying it. Can you create your own film sim recipes in this model?
@@amanbahodia not that I'm aware of, just comes with the, I believe 4 built-in.
@@weepz Thanks for quick response 🤓
@@amanbahodia no worries, I say go for it as a starter camera, if I'm using it a lot this coming year and enjoy it, then I'll start to look at the X100F or eventually the V 👌🏻
@@weepz Definitely! Thanks for the insight, much appreciated☺
Thank you
Can u add simulation recepices to x100 ?
Hi, what metering settings you use on this camera?
Set the Fn button to select ISO
What is the T on the top ?
Both the T & B on the shutter dial are for long time exposure modes, the T stands for "time" and the B for "bulb".
With the T selected, you can choose a shutter speed between 1/2 sec and 30 sec in steps of 1/3 EV.
Hope that helps and the video were useful as well. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts! I appreciate it! 🙏🏼✨
Does anyone know if you can set the raw button to a Q menu? You can do this on the X10. Thanks
You cannot with the xpro1 and xe1, so I'm inclined to think that I'll be the same with the x100, I no longer own it so I can't test it myself, curious to hear if anyone else can chime in.
Hope that helps, thanks for watching and for taking a moment to comment as well, I appreciate it.
@@Jorge-Perez thank you for the response. I had ordered an X100 for cheap when I posted the comment. I now have it. It’s a bit of an adjustment coming from the X-T30 II but I am starting to appreciate it.
Well, I'm little surprised that I'm using the exact settings the moment I did buy the camera :)
Haha good to hear! how are those settings working out for you? I think the variety of the settings is relatively limited on this camera, that being said, I still think it's great and it's even better than some modern mediocre cameras.
Thanks for watching and for sharing a comment as well! I appreciate it friend 😁
Thanks for this vid Jorge! Very well explained!
I was wondering, where did you get your orange soft release button on the fuji x100? I really like the ones with the little concave on-top and orange is my fav colour :)
Ps: ill be buying a second hand x100 in the next fews days thanks to your video’s, so thankyou!
Great to hear it was clear and useful! I got the shutter buttons at a store in Tokyo, but the good news is that you can find 3rd party affordable options on amazon, the JJC shutter buttons are pretty decent as well. I will be added some links to my gear page in the next couple days, so stay tuned for that!
I'm excited to hear you'll be getting one, curious to hear your thoughts after you've used it for a bit! Thank you very much for watching and sharing a comment as well! Happy Holidays! 🎄✨
@@Jorge-Perez fantastic! Thanks for the recommendation :)
Im excited as well! Ill leave a comment with an update once ive had a deep dive 👍🏼
Does the X100 have auto ISO?
Yes it does! up to 3200 on the auto mode. Hope that helps, thanks for watching! 🙏🏼✨
How long lasts the battery approx?
It of course does not affect the image" I'm confused how what he means - would you be able to explain :(
how you transfer the picture to phone?
You need an sd card reader adapter for your phone or computer.
I cant seem to turn off my flash when im inside but when im outside its not working?????
If the camera I purchase develops Sticky Aperture Blades, does Fujii still support the X100 that they would be able to repair the camera?
Thanks xxx
You might have sticky blade problem
I don’t have the option to do FINE+RAW
Hi Jorge
Thankyou for such guide and tell us how to set the camera for the street photography and I'd like to appreciate the results of your shoot, it's great.
I have explore the camera before I found your video I notice two problem:
1. When I change to MF(Manual Focus) the screen gets blurry
2. In MF mode, Whenever I tried to use AFL botton to change the focus, it getting messages error: Turn of the camera and turn on again
I don't know if that's problem related with S.A.B (I hope it's not the S.A.B)
I hope you can give me an advice
Thankyou for your attention
Keep up your great work
Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment as well. I'm not sure I can help, but I'll try:
1. Make sure you update to the firmware.
2. Are you using the original battery? (Some cameras act up when the battery is third party, like Canon for example)
@@Jorge-Perez thankyou for the advice, it means a lot
I have check The firmware and it's in 2.11
I couldn't confirm if the camera that I use are using original Fujifilm battery, but the brand in the battery is fujifilm.
Overall the auto Focus still oke .. I think I have to learn and explore how to operate the camera
Awaiting on a X100t bargain from eBay. Guessing these will transfer to that too ?
Most of these, yes. There might be some small differences in the wording, or minor additions, but for the most part are the same thing.
If you get the camera and there's something that does not translate from this video, then let me know and I'll give you a hand!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to share a comment as well! I appreciate it! 🙌🏼✨
I found beat up x100 for $130, do you still recommend it sir? I already had x70. I just wanna try this cheap camera with free lens in it ☺
IF everything works well (the camera is not beat up, broken, damaged, etc) and it does NOT have the SAB issue, then I 100% recommend it.
Keep me posted if you do end up buying it. Cheers! 😁🙌🏼
Can you go a little faster
Your voice over's way too loud
Is it important to update the firmware to the latest version? I didn't find anything important in the description of all the updates !
