    I read great reviews of this camera, bought it, and consistently looked like an idiot who had no clue about what he was doing. You changed that. I am gradually incorporating your suggestions into my shooting system.

    OK, this is embarrassing. I've had the X100F for almost two years and didn't realize until seeing this video that there was a grayed-out "MY" entry in the menu navigation - I hadn't seen it or thought about it since it's permanently grayed out. But it wasn't for you! How do you enable or activate the MY entry?

    You motivated me to go ahead and get a x100f just for the same need of capturing my family’s moments... wonderful videos. I’m split about the processing software - everyone says Lightroom sucks for Fuji format files and that capture one is the way to go BUT I want to get Lightroom because I want to use negative lab for scanning my film and it is a Lightroom plug in. What are your thoughts on using Lightroom for Fuji files? Thanks in advance!!

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  3 роки тому +3

      I use Capture One working for others. My own work, I prefer LR due to the easy management. People say C1 has better colors, raw processing, etc. But you’re basically pixel peeping at that point. The majority of people won’t care as much as you do. So it’s a balance…do all that extra effort for what…yourself? I don’t knock it if you do. But as you get older you realize life is a balance of choosing your battles on what to spend time on. I choose to keep things simple and learn to be happy with the results I get from LR

    Andrew, which of the 2 Anamorphic Adapters listed on your video's description do you use? The Anamorphot 40 or the 50? They both screw-in directly to the 49mm thread while still keeping proper auto-focus operation? And regarding the vignetting/cut-off, it happens on both the 40 and 50 models? Thanks a lot for the video😊😊😊

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  5 років тому

      I have the 50 model which is for bigger lenses. I just got the bigger one bc I intended to use it on other lenses, but saw someone had used this combo. Im sure the 40 would fit and be better for handling balance, but considering I’m getting cutoff from the 50, it might be worse w/ the 40

    Awesome video, recently found your channel and I must say you're videos are really nice and cozy. Would you recommend the x100f as the only camera to have or would you recommend getting a DSLR? I've been shooting with a Ricoh gr2 and want to explore something new. Thank you!

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  5 років тому +6

      Thanks! To answer your question, I guess it would all depend on your situation. Generally, I think it can do very well as an only camera since it's what I use for most of my day-to-day shooting. However, for paid work, I do have other cameras that would be more suitable. If you're regularly doing paid work, I think it's the perfect 2nd camera. But that doesn't mean you have to own a DSLR. If you have paying clients, you can always budget it in, and then rent what you need based off of those jobs.
      Sometimes it takes a roundabout way to realize how good it is...as in, if I hadn't had the experience w/ using a whole host of different cameras, it would be hard to truly appreciate what the X100 series camera is.
      In the end, there's no wrong answer. Nothing is permanent. If you have a curiosity, then go for it. You can always go back. The profit/loss in doing so is merely the cost of education and experience. :)

    In my opinion, this camera is so perfect for street shoot. The only gripe I have is at F2.0, the image is way too soft and the lens doesn't focus very close.

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  4 роки тому

      true. the X100v fixes the close focus issue at f/2. but either way, i don't think you really need f/2 at close focus anyway (except low-light conditions). stop down to f/4.

  • @AlhambraDream

    Nice video. Which lens protector are you using? Is it UV filter or Circular Polarizer? I heard that Circular Polarizer filters should be used in digital cameras instead of UV. What do you think? ua-cam.com/video/1JSbV93sbGI/v-deo.html he says it is not necessary. Dunno which one to go for.

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  4 роки тому +1

      Circular Polarizers affect the image. UV filters not so much. There are times you want a CP and sometimes not. I use the UV filter more of a physical protection, rather than trying to filter out UV light.
      I'm using the JJC Lens Hood w/o the Hood part - amzn.to/3axTMkC
      and a B+W UV Filter - amzn.to/2Rdhmvm

    It would be nice if you could speak a little more slowly and not just skip blithely over things that have nothing to do with simple focusing. The manual for this camera is not easy to parse and I was hoping with this particular video that you would just address the focusing issues. Not the various other difficulties inherent in the x100f.

    Very unprofessional, at all. To keep ISO on auto, means that in that case you can set all the rest to Auto too. The same strange suggestions about fix 4 hole. This camera is built to never use Auto mode everywhere. This is the camera which is built to force you to use only manual settings while shooting. And to get to the orgasmic feeling with every shot.

    Red filter is fun for landscapes, but do NOT EVER use it when shooting people, that ghostly white skin you get looks horrible and amateurish! Flickr is flooded with those kind of crappy bw shots. Green filter is best when shooting people, but even that gives a too bright and unnatural skintone, the only way is to convert to black and white from raw, using mostly a blue filter.
