    Traded my glock for a XDm 9mm... best thing I ever did

    I love my xd. Had it now for 12 or 13 years. Back then i held a glock and didnt really like the grip angle on them so i went with the xd. Maybe that has changed over the years havent checked out a glock in a while. Ive put many rounds out of mine never had any issues from hot loads to lighter plinking loads, fmj to various hollow point self defense rounds. Ive seen rounds jam up in other pistols run a mag of them through mine without a hitch. My edc rounds are hot loaded hornady hollowpoints. I do agree though the trigger is a little something to get used to its a little mushy feeling up to the wall. Maybe even through the wall its may still have a little mushy feeling to it. Prefer a bit of a tighter feeling trigger but its a pistol and these pistols just dont have those kinds of triggers on them. Comparing the 2 as far as quality i think it really comes down to what feels comfortable in your hands and what your comfortable shooting. The quality, reliability and dependability in both of them is really good in that sense you cant make a wrong decision with either of them. They are very comparable there. I have held a s&w shield and they feel pretty nice in the hand as well.

      Thanks for the feedback. The grip angle has remained the same on the Glock line but the size of the grip has been reduced and they give you different size back straps that pin onto the grip and in Gen 5 they removed the finger grooves and it doesn’t lock your fingers into that location. It just feels drastically better than my Gen 3

    Thnk you for an in-depth comparison. I particularly liked your thoughts on gun safety features in general. Right on the money.

    So if safety is in the mind frame than why do you have seatbelts, airbags, antilock brakes and all the the safety features on your car? Would you buy a new car without them? For both guns being close to the same price would you not want more safety feature? Would you pay them same price for a Honda as you would for a Acura? Of course not. Why pay more for a gun that has less?

    Great video. I agree with you about the Glock reset being the best, as it's even more tactile than Walther/Canik. I disagree with you about the initial take-up. The Walther PPQ/PDP/Canik triggers tend to have longer take-ups than my stock gen 3 Glocks. That new Canik MC9 has a very long take-up.

    I'll never say a Glock is a bad pistol... I just hate them, personally. I will definitely suggest them to someone else if they like the way they feel, but Glocks are just absolutely not my cup of tea. Now, the Springfield, on the other hand... I have a XDm 5.25 in .45 acp... If what you say about shooting a pistol that fits you better, then apparently my XDm 5.25 should be surgically attached to my right hand. I was never going to buy a polymer pistol, until someone let me put some rounds through an XDm 9mm... I swear that pistol felt like it had absolutely no recoil at all. So, not long afterward I went to get my 5.25, and now I am looking for a XDm Elite Compact. Yes, I know that the grip safeties are completely unnecessary, but you don't really notice them at all after you use the pistol for a while.

      Thanks for the feedback. Most people’s problem with a grip safety comes with the “what if it fails” factor. Anything you add to the gun is just one more potential place for something to fail when you need it.

    • @BU1Lander
      @BU1Lander 3 роки тому

      @@jayleav Yes, that is something that can't be argued. More moving parts equals more points of possible failure. If I could get rid of the grips safety, I definitely would. Like I said, I see it as unnecessary as everyone if you are comfortable handling a handgun.

    • @damiion666
      @damiion666 Рік тому +2

      The “more parts more failure” argument never stopped colt 1911’s from killing baddies for decades. Nothing wrong with extra features as long as they work. Honestly can’t recall any vids where someone is complaining that a passive grip safety failed. When I buy a Toyota for reliability, I dont mind extra features. They won’t get in the way of reliability.

    • @BU1Lander
      @BU1Lander Рік тому

      @@damiion666 I would say, more importantly, an extra feature should add value. You're right, I've never heard a complaint about a grip safety failing either. But, what does it add to the platform? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy 1911s and 2011s as much as the next guy. But the design is over 100 years old, and I think that the grip safety, which Browning, the designer of the gun, thought was completely unecessary himself, is a legacy feature, and should be deleted as it would make an improved design.

    • @damiion666
      @damiion666 Рік тому +1

      @@BU1Lander the thing about a passive grip safety is that it’s a major selling point with people that buy XD’s. The piece of mind that you won’t blow your nuts off while drawing under stress with a sweaty hand if you appendix carry is a big thing with many people.

    I had a Glock 19 Gen 5 with Glock night sights. Wanted to love it. Just never liked the way the gun lined up on target. I could shoot it well, but I had to think about lining sights up on target. Bought an XD-M elite 3.8”. Trigger is sweet. Much smoother than Gen 5. XD-m lines up on target for me easily. Very fist time out, I put 8/10 shots in a 4” target at 20 yards, and 10/10 in 6” target. I sold the Glock. Don’t miss it a bit.
