Great review mate. I lost my beloved ie800 and have been looking for a replacement. I do love my bass though and my dream item would be a basier ie800. Would you recommend these or the golds or something else? (re2000 are to $$ for me)
I've not tried the golds, unfortunately, but for overall sound with a great bass response at a 'budget' these are it
I have the gold one and the choice of tips can have a big effect on the sound. I use the smallest tips I could find, none of which came with the RE800, and I ended up with two tips as my final choice. I got a small one that fits more comfortably from a cheap pair of earbuds and the smallest one that comes with the AKG branded earbuds you get with the Note 9 that fit well but with a little pressure build up in my ear. The one from the cheap buds sounds good but it lacks in bass. The one from the Note 9 buds sounds a little more closed in but still good and the bass is fantastic. It's interesting how much something that seems so minor can make such a big difference.
Yup, they make all the difference!
I'm agree the cables are tremendous problem can brake and can't change too bad from this part, good review bro.
Thanks bro
“Smaller space for the sound to move”, what a line
Are this still worth for $149 in 2022?
Does it have better sound than other iems around the 200$ price bracket?
Yup, would recommend!
These are easy to recommend at that price range. They have better sound than earphones above $200. I prefer them to my FIIO FD5, FIIO FH3, Moondrop KXXS and plenty other £100-200 IEMs. They need burn-in. 40 hours at be least. Out of the box they sound mediocre, but give them some time and they are excellent. Very musical, balanced, tremendous mids, accurate bass with lovely resolution, non fatiguing treble. They are very detailed, yet not in an analytical way. I've had nearly 200 IEMs/headphones and the re800s are my favourite sounding set. If they had fancier build, with a detachable cable... you'd pay around $300.
@@Harry-jz1dn thanks for sharing!
Can you please give a more detailed, SOUND ONLY comparison between the HiFiMan RE800 and the Sennheiser IE800? I have the IE800 and I am very happy with them, no issues for me whatsoever regarding cables etc. Being "sonically adventurous" I am really intrigued/interested with the HiFiMan RE800 and I would like to know if/what DIFFERENT would I be experiencing with them sound-wise. I am in love with such IEMs that sport such small housings because I prefer wearing them with the cables pointing downward and much prefer the versatility and ease of use that the FAST in-out feature provides with such designs for on-the-go high-quality listening enjoyment. Thank you in advance!
I covered some in my video and if you go to my ie800 review, you'll also notice what I've said there. In a nutshell, Re800 have more mid-bass presence, while the ie800 are more mid-centric.
@@TotallydubbedHD thank you for your reply. Yes I've watched both video reviews you posted and I had noticed these points. I was hoping for a bit more detailed "sound comparison", in terms of detail retrieval, separation, decay and overall feel of coloration
@@dbekia in this respect they're similar. Just the re800 sound warmer, and therefore could be described as a bit more 'coloured'
How would you compare the sound quality to the Sennheiser Momentum 2 in ear ? Had a nightmare with my HD600 as amazon sent me out a ripped unsealed box which looked like somebody’s return, they redelivered the next day & the box arrived with no seal on it so had to refuse delivery
Holy crap :o!
Yeah these...well beat them in every way really. They'll sound 'boring' at first, but once you get used to the sound signature, you'll love them - going back to the senns you'll think they're overly bassy, recessed, and lack soundstage.
totallydubbedHD wow I would aim for those, but can’t seem to find them on amazon. Still torn between in ear IEM & over the ear headphones, lot of Chinese models around but heard horror stories regarding delays in shipping replacements & also having to pay postage & import tax. I can only afford to buy one pair that will have to last me a long time with good customer support in case anything goes wrong. Can I please ask your opinion If the Re800 will be better for female vocal & guitar than the Sennheiser HD600
@@mikecoshan3752 yeah you'll only find them via the link in the description - in other words the manufacturer's website.
Unfortunately, as mentioned before I've only heard the HD600 at a demo, not had them for review. It's always hard to compare over-ears with in-ears, but if you are going to use them at home, I'd always opt for over-ears, less ear fatigue regardless of which is better or not.
The HD600s also have a good reputation for their soundstage, which will add to the overall experience of you listening to any sort of vocal tracks.
totallydubbedHD I used to have a pair of HD600 when they first came out & they only died 2 years ago, the vocals were so crisp & clear & the sound staging was really open. Though I wondered with the advent of new driver technology if there was anything better for the price either in ear or over the ear
@@mikecoshan3752 honestly, audio hasn't overly changed over the years - don't get me wrong some things have changed for the better (ie the drivers of the RE800 vs your normal dynamic driver) but on the whole not much - at least IMO.
If you liked the HD600s, you should get them again; don't fix something that's not broken!
Is it worth extra money to upgrade to re800 gold and how about re800 compare to senn momentum 3 :))
Can't comment on the gold version, but as for the M3, different type of device - in-ears Vs over-ears
@@TotallydubbedHD yeah but i just can choose 1 things for music and gaming as well .-. Very confuse which one is sound better
@@huyphucnguyen5623 for gaming as well, would suggest headphones if portability isn't an issue (vs earphones)
@@TotallydubbedHD do u suggest gaming headset for music ?
@@huyphucnguyen5623 as the RE800? For music yeah
Hi is this good for gaming like codm?
Yeah
Hi bro, is re800s better than 7hz timeless?, I'm interest in 7hz but suddenly i heard about re800 which is only Rs.11k in india, btw timeless is 17k and sennheiser IE800 is 50k!!!😲
Not tried the other variant, so can't comment!
Is sennheiser IE800 and hifiman re800 are in same league?
I'm asking because in India IE800 costs 5 times than the RE800.
I would rather not buy an iem worth 12k that doesnt come with a detachable cable..
If 12k priced iem sounds like 50k iem, I would buy that if it is detachable or not..
I must say, you certainly like to say “I must say” a lot.
:(
I must say, you're a bonk.
