That's such a great deal! Looking forward to your thoughts on all of the albums. See you soon for our CD exchange. I'm still playing the albums daily. 😀
Hi Glen!!! that's a pretty cool boxset.... normally Rhino put out great products, high quality and normally not so pricey, so glad to see this one arrieved on your birthday (saturday or sunday??), lol. I don't know C Mingus work, as you might guess i'm not into jazz, but if you bought it, must be a cool and great addition to the collection. cheers and be well
I only have two Charles Mingus albums. "Mingus Ah Um" and "The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady". And I only really listen to the first one. Just like you, before this box set. I'm not too interested in his later work. But, that was a great deal on that box set. They're really overcharging for their CD's and LP's these days. You have to pre-order the second things become available, or they go up $8 - $12, days later. And never drop, till after they're out, of course.
I thought maybe you got a time machine for your birthday. At least you can feel good about being a day younger than you were this morning. I'm not a fan of traditional jazz, but I like the album "Three or Four Shades of Blues". Lot's of rock/blues electric guitar.
I wish you would have given your thoughts on the records after you listened to them rather then just a unboxing! It seems like you’re not that familiar with his work so you’re taking a chance on that box Be nice to get a review later I’m not that familiar with Mingus so I would want a review before I bought that 180 in America

There really isn't a bad Mingus album or recording. From my experience anyways.

It was an unboxing as advertised Dave..Unboxing videos are quite common..I will offer my thoughts after I have had a chance to listen..
Most people do an unboxing without knowing what the albums sound like... reviews usually come afterwards as Glen states.
@@canadianstudmuffin thanks Larry..I think Dave was having a bad day..lol
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I wish you would review the albums and then unbox them! Ha ha!
