Saw the Dylan movie over the holidays and really enjoyed it - I think we all know that writers and producers have to skewer timelines and make things more dramatic for movie purposes, but I think they did the perfect amount of mixture and truth.
FUN FACT!! When I received my masters degree our commencement was held at Van Andel Arena... so I've been there a few times! Grand Rapids is one of my favorite "little" cities. Lots of cool spots around the area, including Vertigo Music which is a great record store right downtown. I am seeing A Complete Unknown tonight.. glad you loved it Glen!
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement it's been years but if I remember correct there's a holiday inn right downtown that is pretty popular but might be pricier. Anything on the outskirts or suburbs would be cheaper!
Yes, that Bob movie really blew me away, but I was sure that the production used Dylan's actual recordings, no it really was Timothee Chalamet's voice. He became Dylan when he put the sunglasses on.
I agree completely with your review of the Dylan Bio! Saw it yesterday and love it Was very impressed that the actors sang and played their own instruments Great job! Can’t agree with the ticket prices for Billy Strings Over 100 dollars for 2nd deck seats?? That’s why I don’t go to many concerts anymore Ticket prices are ridiculous
I loved the film although I was pretty skeptical about it. I'm usually a real stickler for the truth. When they change things in movies, I just can't get on board. But with this one, I was able to accept those creative changes! There was enough good stuff in there that I could really enjoy it. Specifically I loved how they showed just how radical Bob's music was during that era. That's important to be recognized.
I wasn’t sold on Timothee as Bob when it was announced because I didn’t think he looked enough like him. But he really sold me. I loved the film and I liked the time frame from 61-65. Hope you enjoy Grand Rapids! There’s an AMAZING record store in downtown Grand Rapids called Vertigo Music. Check it out. They have thousands of new vinyl albums. Any album under the sun they have there lol. A bunch of used CDs and Vinyls too.
We were meant to see 'A Complete Unknown' on December 26, bought the tickets 'n' all, then my wife tested positive for Covid. And now it has left the movie houses, so I guess I'll see it on Amazon. I actually liked 'Rocket man' and the Elvis movie, but couldn't bear the Queen movie. Still, I got to see BEAT / King Crimson last month and they were phenomenal, especially when they played 'Red' as the first encore.
What a nightmare trying to get those Billy Strings tickets! I swear, nothing is worse than that ‘I don’t have that phone…we can only send it to THAT phone’ bullshit. Was hoping you would review the Dylan movie, I’ll see it tonight or tomorrow now.
Is it only in theaters? Interested in seeing it. Might have to dig deeper into Bob. Awesome, you got tickets for that show. What a crap show. Save your pennies, lol. Nice Myles pick up❤❤
It is only in theatres and I had to go to Kingston to see it..The Belleville theatres aren’t showing it..Yeah..I was losing it this morning..so lucky my daughter was free to help..The tickets were going so fast..
I really liked the movie too! but sad to hear you didnt like the queen or elvis one as they are both movies i love to repeat watch. and that ticketmaster crap doesnt make any sense this seems to happen with emails too.

I'm beyond happy that you enjoyed the Dylan movie, I am a major fan!
Of me or the movie?
@GlenKellawayfromthebasement leave that one in the air
Excellent review. I don't like bio pics but this Dylan movie has had a lot of great reviews. Looking forward to seeing it some day.

Yeah..he couldn’t have done a better job…
The Miles boxes look very interesting and well done.
Yeah..really impressed with volume 7…definitely going to get more of them
I'm a huge Miles guy too. I have at least 100 Miles titles in my collection and of course many are multi-disc sets.
If you don’t have this bootleg series 7..there is some great stuff on there..the Montreal show is excellent
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement Not only do I have #7, I've owned a bootleg of that Montreal show for years!

It’s a relatively small arena and Billy is worth it..
Movie is 2:20. I loved it, too, although they did over-Hollywood it a bit.
They have to Hollywood it a bit..it wasn’t to bad for that..

Well said..I am always skeptical with these music bio pics..We are just too close to our musical heroes I guess…

They made those movies to flashy for me..
You're not alone Glen on the Elvis movie I hated it
It was bad
I thought the movie was pretty good I had a couple small issues, definitely agree about other
music biopics many of them are very stale and cliche I do like some such as this one and Love and Mercy about Brian Wilson
F ticketmaster.and there crazy fee's.
Except you have to be able to get a ticket before you can get to the fees..
