Thanks for the shout Glen, and thanks for giving your opinion on that CSNY. I thought about getting it but might not now. Haha.
Hi Glen!!! I watched Robert's video and immediately thought about you, lol..... and then remember another "dust collector" from another well known band "Now and Then" song/release. Btw cool thrift stores finds and cool to see your "obsession" continues. cheers and be well
The Orange Turd has stated he is going to impose 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports starting in January. I wonder how that's going to effect vinyl and cd prices across the border? Because we know both Canada and Mexico are going to retaliate.
I really enjoyed the Fillmore East 1969 live album. I think the best song is the 16 minute version of Down By The River. Great video Glen.
Hey Cardboard..I missed you👍❤Definitely the highlight of the album..
Happy Birthday to Lynne! I listened to the CSNY live album on Spotify and I wasn't that impressed with it. They were all snorting cocaine back then, so that is probably why it sounds so aggressive. It's true, Glen gave away the whole Beach Boys discography last year. I never listen to Hackney Diamonds either. 😃
No “e” on Lynn, Larrye
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I'll put an E on Lynn if I want to, but don't tell Lynn I said that! 😄
I'll stick with 4 Way Street and if I'm listening to The Stones it's Beggars Banquet or Let It Bleed.
Atta boy👍
Do you have any Southside Johnny to have Larry borrow? Happy Birthday to Lynne! It's my brother's birthday too.
No..I should have though
That Widespread Panic live album is great. But there aren't really any bad ones, at least I have heard none, and I think, I'm through half their catalog on Spotify. Have you seen the Soulshine event yesterday? You might like that one, it's one set of Goose, Warren Haynes, Nathaniel Rateliff and Dave Matthews Band with lots of guest Derek and Susan, Trey Anastasio, etc. and people sitting in on other peoples sets. A lot of great music, mediocre mix. It's still available on the DMB channel.
Wow..that sounds amazing..
Ah. You found Light Fuse, Get Away. Nice. Not a Japanese import, just the design based, I think, on fireworks packaging. WSP are from Athens, Georgia. They met at the University of Georgia. A lot of jam bands formed after meeting at university. Enjoy the lingering lead. Mikey Houser had a unique sound. Panic knows how to jam properly without noodling. You're a Spreadhead now!
lol..I am a Spreadhead..
Hey Dennis..I would love to communicate with you..e mail me at gkellaway623@gmail.com ..thanks glen
I didn’t buy the CSN&Y live at the Fillmore but I’ve streamed it. I think the 1974 live set is their best.
Agreed
Same here. I purge all my turds(turkeys). The closest I have is Let It Be.
Beatles fans have a bounty on your head..lol
Who is that cd light fuse getaway and who is it by or is that the band ? Sounds interesting tell me cd title and band I'll have to look.for that one.
It's Widespread Panic and the album is called Light Fuse Get Away.
Thanks. Im gonna search n0w@@morrisgautreau6704
It is Widespread Panic..their studio albums are pretty strong as well..but the live one is amazing..
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement It will be an album, or two, I will be looking into, it's going on the list of music I need to get to.
@GlenKellawayfromthebasement found the entire album on youtube to listen to first. Then found it on ebay cheap like $9.FS. .sound like the Dead to me love the jamming don't like the singer so much I guess it fits their style.

Great list Glen! You have all the heavy hitte rs like Bill Monroe, Johnny Cash, Earl Scruggs, Miles, Muddy Waters, Hendrix and Dylan. I really hope younger viewers take note and search out all those artists if they've never listened to them. Personally I've been listening to a lot of classic bluegrass lately and can't get enough of artists like Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Ralph Stanley, Don Reno, Jimmy Martin and the Osborne Brothers. I'd also ad John Coltrane, Elvis and Buddy Holly to my list.
Hi Glen!!! Well done and cool idea for ranking too...... i think this new video was one installment your audience was waiting to see. Can't argue with Jimi and this big impact in popular music. cheers and be well
Thanks Cristian..Jimi is in a ranking of his own..
Nice List Glen - cheers Brian
Thanks Brian
Tom Petty, Roy Orbison & Bruce Springsteen are my favourite solo artists from the USA!🇺🇸
Three great ones for sure Adam..
Some great picks. I was glad to see Alejandro Escovado and I really like that live album as well. Nora Jones has such an amazing voice. I have a lot of Johnny Cash albums but I don't think that I have seen the one you showed. All of the times that I have seen Bruce are my top concerts. Great number one. Where was Lucinda?
Hard to leave Lucinda off..
Another great video. Thanks. The Hendrix dilemma also occured to me immediately. Another example of this would be Sparks. Although, ultimately guess they are American.
Mike Bloomfield.
Yes !!!
Any list with Petty and Springsteen is a winner with me. Where did Jackson Browne finish? 26th? Great video Glen.
27th..lol
Steve Earle once quipped, “Townes Van Zandt is the best songwriter in the whole world, and I’d stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table in dirty cowboy boots and say that.” I reckon I’d agree and include Townes on my list. Was at a Steve Earle show years ago and he was saying something political between songs. Some drunk audience member yelled, “just play the f&cking music.” Steve calmly reached into his pocket, pulled out some cash, handed to the front row security man, and said, “give that kind gentleman his ticket money back and show him out, if you will,” and then launched into Guitar Town.
What a great story..and Townes could be on any list of the greats..same with Guy Clark..
I think I'd have to include Chuck Berry somewhere in my list.
Can’t argue with that
That Earl Scruggs Revue is so good, love it! My Dad met Bill Monroe when he was a little kid, my Dad, not Bill. My list would have Bob Dylan, John Prine, Tom Waits, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Vince Guaraldi, Sinatra, Elvis, John Mayer. Cheers!
So cool your Dad met Bill Monroe!!!
Solid list. Comment on people who look down on CDs. I consider it elitist type slobbery. I grew up with vinyl of course, but I replaced it with CDs when vinyl left the market. When I retired, I downsized my house and sold off the vinyl and equipment. I am no longer in a financial situation to even consider getting back in. But you're right Glen. It's all about the music in whatever form you can listen to it in.
Vinyl is not cheap hobby..
Jack White is awesome, love what he does with The Raconteurs. I got that Beck CD, love it! I'm not into country, but Steve Earle is a major exception, I do like his music. I don't have any Johnny Cash, but I really should get some. Same goes for Ry Cooder and Muddy Waters. I have a great CD box set of Janis Joplin, but the box is falling apart. Jimi is always great. Dylan is great too. All the rest I need to hear more from!
Sly and the family stone , AL Greene. ,
Is Sky a group or a solo artist? Al Greene👍
Wow, not only did you invent doing the top US band list, you thought about the other lists people have done before they even did them. Genius. 🤪
I am Nostradamus!!!
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement yes but with more humility. 😀
@@iamwoteveriwanttobe lol
Great list, Glen! As I read the title of this video, I immediately knew that Jerry Garcia (90% positive as #2) and Robert Allen Zimmerman, aka Bob Dylan (100% positive as #1) should be your number one and two. I'd add Bob Marley to the list if it were mine.
Bob Marley is Jamaican..lol
Odelay"!!! I love every second of this album! If Captain Beefheart is considered a solo act, then he is definitely in my personal top 5! My favorites also include Bill Callahan and Bonnie "Prince" Billy!
I like Bill Calahan too👍
Can't argue with these, would consider at least half of them myself. Missing for me, Tina Turner, one of the greatest female vocalists. I'd probably also add Thelonious Monk. When we are talking about favorites, I would also include Joe Walsh as one of my favorite guitar players. Not sure about Warren Haynes, he is my favorite guitar player and singer, but I prefer him in ABB and Mule (still like his solo work). It's kinda similar with Billy Gibbons, Dave Matthews and Stevie Nicks, prefer them in their respective bands.
Joe Walsh just missed the cut..
I probably would have included James Brown in my American favourites.
Oh yeah..should be there for sure..
Hi Glen!!! Yes, you're always in the basement, lol..... nice picks and cool additions to rhe collection. I think Daryll Hall is a very good singer and can't deny the cool songs he had wil John Oates. cheers and be well
Thanks Glen. The Garcia/Grisman set and the Allman's Fox box sound intriguing. - Chris
I screwed up on the title of the Garcia Grisman release..it is Bare Bones Volume One..
He was really good in Lillyhammer.
Yes..forgot to mention that show..
The Steven book is on my wishlist. Have all his albums and even met him backstage at the final US 1984 show in San Francisco. I'm surprised that you don't have his first two LPs, Men Without Women and Voice of America, at least. Classics in my opinion. Unfortunately, the last time I saw Steven in concert was at an awful venue in 2017 where the "disabled seating" was way in the back in the bar where I could barely see the stage. This show was one of the reasons I retired from going to concerts.
Cool you got to meet him..will look for those albums…too bad about that show..I hate concerts at big venues now…
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement This wasn't even at a big venue! Sometimes small clubs are even less likely to be set up for wheelchair seating than larger venues.
Nice review of the VanZandt book! Glen you need to pick up VanZandts first album Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul Great album!! Probably find a used copy for pretty cheap Have to pick up a copy of the book
I will look for that album..thanks Dave..
I do need to get some Steve Van Zandt, since I’m a big Springsteen fan, loved the Sopranos and listened to his Sirius XM channel. I’m pretty behind with my reading as I haven’t started the last two music books I bought on Springsteen and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Stop watching my videos and read a book!!!
Always fun catching up with you. You give me so much to check out.
Hope you find something you like👍
I prefer 70s Hall and Oates over the 80s version. Have you heard the John Hall solo album he did with Robert Fripp?
The Darryl Hall album with Fripp..Sacred Songs..yes..it has some good tracks..Fripp’s Exposure album was recorded at the same time and has some similarities.
@ I bought both those when they came out.
I have to admit, I have never listened to a Miami Steve album too, something to put on the list. The Final ABB show is so far just digitally released, physical media will be available next week, if I recall correctly. But The Fox Box is absolutely fantastic. Lots of hours of music and only one song twice. And another thing I have to admit, I love ABB, but I'm not a fan of Brothers and Sisters, I know, it's got their biggest hit Ramblin' Man, but I don't care much for that one either, I'd much prefer The Fox Box. What was up here? Widespread Panic released their new album Hailbound Queen, it's nice but a bit too short for my taste, 35 minutes is barely more than an EP, don't think I would buy it. Hannah Wicklund released another teaser for her upcoming album Live at the Troubadour, that's going to be interesting. Still enjoying the new Warren Haynes solo album, it's quite mellow, so I have to be in the right mood, but the songs are awesome, love the one Gregg Allman song draft that he finished with Derek.
Hannah Wicklund..interesting👍👍
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement she's awesome, great singer and one hell of a guitar player.
@GlenKellawayfromthebasement gave that Little Steven album a listen, that's really fun, need to see if I can get it. Great recommendation.
@@dr.s. I gave her a Spotify listen and loved what I heard..definitely going to pick up an album..thanks👍

I have to pick up the Crimson book. I have his first book from way back when. RIP Peter Sinfield. Iconic lyrics on the debut but I think my favourite lyrics of his were on Lizard and his solo album Still. "A stricken chicken from an ultraviolet prison cell". Iconic.
I have never heard his solo album..
@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I enjoy it. Pete isn't the greatest singer but he's OK. Great playing on it though. Greg Lake guests on vocals on the title song and his contribution is outstanding as you'd expect it would be. A decent album.
@@dennislind8411 I gotta check it out..
I never really paid much attention to Hall and Oates I did like some of the songs though. I will check out that King Crimson book. RIP Pete
I think 70s Hall and Oates is better than 80s Hall and Oates.
The book is awesome..
I'd love to own Brothers and sisters box. But ebay it starts at $69 up to $179. Too much for me they do have 2 cd set..but that's not what I want..oh well if I wait. It may come down
Wow..that is crazy..I bought it upon release and paid like twenty bucks for it..I should sell it and buy a dozen eggs..
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement$20 is the 2cd

RIP Pete. Love Stevie, great artist. That's cool you are into Darrell Hall. Didn't know that Love Brothers and Sisters. I gave a great vinyl copy. All great stuff my friend ❤❤
Love Hall and Oates..Pete is a legend…
A Salty Dog might be my favorite album of theirs. Nice pick up! Nice you finally got the Jon Anderson album, it's so good! 😊 That is a sweet Genesis box set!
I saw the Thick as a Brick tour at Glasgow Greens. Missed the last train home but it was worth it!
Just checked out two songs by Kathleen Edwards. I liked both of them! She’s on the hit list now!
