Yes another cool one and nice your choices for the 70's, that's a huge task trying to just pick up the best 24 album..... it was a nice thing to see Uriah Heep making the cut , but i thought you would be picking "Look at Yourself" or "The Magicians.....". All excellent albums there. No disputes! I can understand why you didn't like Yes initially. Jon Anderson has that eunuch, falsetto voice that can be annoying, but early Yes had a robustness that offset it. 'Galactic Zoo Dossier' deserves to be right up there - maybe the greatest album of the 70s. Nothing to do with the 70s, I get to see Lucinda Williams on Tuesday! I think it will be quite an experience.

Glen, good to see you back! Is your copy of Eat A Peach an old DVD-A audio disc? The size of the case just seems a little larger than the standard jewel case. CD and cassette are the only way to listen to this album. I would have put American Beauty in the top 5.

Great list. I love a list that comes from the heart and is not based on what were the easy, known picks. It's the music that moves you. A lot of my favourites would not be on most people's lists. My #1 has been my #1 since its release, McDonald & Giles. I can't explain why, it just is. If I can only have one, this is the one.

Thought you were still recovering from the Beach Boys. That's a topic I'd have to spend some time think about. For Bruce I would pick Born to Run, Wish You Were Here for Floyd, IV for Zeppelin. For ABB (Fillmore album if we'd include live albums), the Stones, Joe Walsh we'd have the same. No idea who else I would have in there. Fleetwood Mac - s/t for sure, Rory Gallagher - Tattoo, Free - Fire and Water,...

Quite a few major artists you didn’t pick, David Bowie, The Clash, CCR, Elvis Costello, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Leon Russell, Marvin Gaye, Little Feat, Talking Heads, The Doors, Television, Sly and the Family Stone, Paul Simon, Jimi Hendrix, Nick Lowe, Family, all these artists/bands made some cracking albums in the 70’s

'Blood on the Tracks' is an amazing album. 'Sticky Fingers,' too. I've only listened to 'Jack Straw' on the Dead's 'Wake up to find out' album, but the production, the playing and the arrangement (if you can call ad libbing an arrangement) are all breathtaking. I'll certainly be floating my way through that album tonight.

That Graham Bond album has a lot of big names! I’ve never owned a Procol Harum album. But since watching videos here, I’ve learned there are two or three that people really like.

I have The Graham Bond Organization studio debut The Sound of 65 which is great and I should search out the others. I know that Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker were on that album.

Really looking forward to hear Larry's take on Billy. Anyways, I sense your appreciation for the Beach Boys didn't grow.... I have been listening to mainly new stuff. Still enjoying Grace Bowers & the Hodge Podge, an indy-band from Australia called Full Flower Moon Band and my latest obession called The Lion Heart, Spaghetti Western Desert Rock. A few days ago I also stumbled upon a duo called Larry & Joe, they make Latin Bluegrass, that mix shouldn't work that well.

I have a feeling when Larry asks you your ranking of those albums, you're just gonna keep going on and on about the Jon Anderson album and not mention the Beach Boys ones at all. ;)

I think those are the two best post-"Pet Sounds" Beach Boys albums. I give "Sunflower" a "9.5", and "Surf's Up" an "8'. "Shine On Brightly" is my favorite Procol Harum album. And "In The Wee Small Hours Of Sixpence", my favorite rare B-Side. The B-Side of "Quite Rightly So".

I also love Procol Harum have a couple great box set of theirs.But I've really been gettin into their Chrysalis years

i love zappa music. i dont have boxset yet. i do have single disc version of apostophe.

That means Sam needs an operation hard core BB fan. Glen will love new Taylor swift does Zappa ! Haha
