I just bought the 2023 Pathfinder platinum on June 2 and absolutely love it. Comfort is second to none with the award-winning seats. The author of this video is absolutely correct in it being a challenge to get the chestnut interior,(at least in Canada). I searched coast to coast on various dealer websites and fortunately was able to find one within 500 km from home. (The only one I was able to find). My wife is like the princess and the pea when it comes to comfort and after a 7.5 hr ride, this vehicle passed with flying colors. The ride is super quiet and the tech is second to none. In my 66 years, this vehicle is one of the rare ones that I actually look forward to getting into and driving. First impressions lead me to recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a SUV.
I'm about to turn 15k miles on my '22 in the SV trim . Mighty fine SUV. It's quiet, rides smooth, has tons of room, and I love that solid sounding 'thunk' that you hear when shutting the door. It gives me the impression of good build quality. The only issue that i've had is a squeaking noise coming from the center console lid especially while resting my arm on it. Gray Daniels Nissan replaced it under warranty no questions asked. Two main features that sold me on this: 1) With over 44 inches of front legroom the Pathfinder was the only SUV that could comfortably accommodate me and my 6'6" tall frame. 2) They got rid of that awful CVT transmission. I was like "where do I sign?"🖊
I have a 2019 4wd - get around 21 in town and 26 - 28 on highway, actually hit 30; but generally 27ish, using the driver assist cruise, and stay 70-75 hwy. BTW, it now has 107k and runs great. Love the flexibility of 4wd.
I have a rogue platinum, a 2021, but I got my eye on this baby, I have the same color, I have gotten so many compliments on this color, it’s called bolder grey! 2023 pathfinder I’m coming for u!
With the 4WD the Pathfinder is officially rated to tow 6000 lbs, but requires an optional breaking control module to be installed. Unofficially it can handle 7000 lbs with the breaking control module installed. Without the module it is not recommended to exceed 3500 lbs. With the 2 wheel drive (non 4WD) version, the max towing is 3000 lbs. The V6 engine used in the Pathfinder, Murano, and some of the Infiniti vehicles has variable ignition timing where the computer advances the timing according to the octane of the fuel. Using the premium gasoline will give about 20 to 30 more HP from this engine when the sports mode is switched on. I am using premium fuel and noticed the difference. This also increased the torque.
My wife found the passenger seat to be an issue when we tested the 2022 initially. Tested a 2023 SL and the passenger seat is now a 10-way powered seat. So it now goes up and down... I too wished they had a Hybrid version, LED lights throughout. thanks for sharing.
@@Randsel I am in the Canadian market. They made that change for 2023 year so driver’s side is 12-way & Passenger is 10-way for the SL and up. I took it for granted and assumed that the US market would have gotten that change as well as the issue is common between markets. Your feedback indicates my assumption was wrong.
Forgot to mention my favorite feature of the Pathfinder or even the Rogues also I believe is the ProPilot assist with Navi-Link. It makes long drives so much easier. You can literally take your hands off the steering wheel while driving and the car will steer for you for a limited time of course (15-20 sec) before prompting you to place a hand back on the steering wheel. It makes it so much easier to be able to enjoy a cheeseburger while driving, lol.
I also have had mine 1 year, I really like it, my only dislike it the shifter, do not like having to push the park button, just give me simple shifter.
I have the 2022 Platinum Pathfinder 4WD fully equipped. I've had a number of 4WD SUVs over the years. This Pathfinder for myself is the best one yet. Mine is pearl white with the black roof line. The interior is chestnut. Great vehicle. Where I live we have severe winters for 6 months of the year. During the winter months I put on wheels with deep thread off road mud/snow tires. Never get stuck or have any issues driving in snow and ice. I am located in Quebec Canada. On my Pathfinder I installed front and rear Garmin dash cams. I have them running with all time monitoring. Since I don't use auto charging, I installed under the dash a Garmin GPS. It has features that the vehicle GPS does not have. I made the habit of turning off the engine auto off button when I start the vehicle. There are ways to disable this, but warranty may be affected. There are gadgets that can be bought that would have to be installed and connected to the electrical connection with the switch.
Thank you very much, when I drive in regular mode the suv drives slow I have to put it in sports mode to get it going using regular gas next fill up I'll use premium fuel
Awesome job! The video was very helpful; especially hearing how the car is primarily used. That helped a lot with making a decision 🙂 Added to the short list. TY!
Screw hybrid and turbos, why do you want so much more to maintain to do the same thing. This is good just how it is. When I think of hybrid and turbos, I want to puke all the extra that's going to go wrong, repairs, repairs, repairs.
Got an '18 and all I run is Ethanol free gas. I avg 26 mpg consistently. I also dropped in a K&N since pretty much day one. Looking at possibly a '24 to replace it.
Hey great review! We are in the market for one as well and your review has definitely helped with the decision. Question though, I am in the Houston area as well and was wondering what dealership you went to? We test drove one this weekend and I really enjoyed it. Thanks again!
On the Pathfinder Platinum the side mirrors are electric operated with the push button between the mirror control select buttons. They are not automatic with the ignition as like on some other types of vehicles. I rarely fold in the mirrors.
Has anyone else experienced the shifter going into neutral randomly while driving or engine shutting off?? Both of these happened to me and I’ve only had the 2023 pathfinder for a week. Trying to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue?
From my experience in knowledge of auto mechanics stay away from the Telluride and the Ford. MY choice was the Pathfinder because of its classic approach for SUV design and the way the controls are designed. I like the physical control buttons and control knobs for the heating system and most of the things I use. Hyundai is known for engine issues as they age. You can read up about this. From what I understand this has not been corrected. Their vehicles are not to the same quality level as the Japanese ones from what I have experienced. Toyota and Honda are also excellent vehicles. Subaru is also a good SUV, but it is not my preference. The bottom line is to test drive one for a number of hours. Take it on the highway and also on some streets where you can check out how it handles. See how you like the control layout and how they function. This can be a difficult decision and it is an expensive one.
I chose the Pathfinder because (1) of the factory tow package, (2) and seat comfort, and (3) interior layout. After three Highlanders (which were all good) it was time for a change. Ford is having quality control issues right now, Stellantis and GM just don't work for me. Koreans don't have the longevity of Japanese quite yet. Sat in a Ridgeline and didn't find it as comfortable as the Pathfinder, so didn't bother to sit in a Pilot. Test drove an Ascent, and while it was impressive, I liked the Pathfinder better (even though the Ascent was $5k less). One month in, I'm happy with the Pathfinder but time will tell if it measures up to my good experience with Toyota.
@@doltoy last Friday I finalized a contract and picked up a Jeep Wagoneer series 3. Very large wonderful SUV. I did consider the Pathfinder at first primarily because of its class leading towing ability of 6000 pounds and off-road capabilities, but, I was concerned about Nissans historical reliability issues, I’m sure things have improved but!. I had eyes on the other SUV’s in that class too but there were to many other questions. The new Honda Pilot Trailsport seemed like a find, but costing over $52k for a V6 with only 285 horses seemed a bit overpriced.
Looking to buy a 2023 pathfinder but I'm seeing alot of ppl on forums talking about how the vehicle will shift into neutral while driving on the freeway or at a red light. Is anyone having this problem

Mine is a complete piece of crap! Rear brake pads needing to be replaced at 15K. Numerus issues with the electric system to the point I have to pull over and restart the engine to get the errors to clear. Towing is a joke and using a bike rack is a headache due to the stupid emergency braking assistance that slams on the brakes when backing with any thing attached to the hitch. No easy button to disable it like in other vehicles capable of towing. Instead you have to work your way through a pain in the @22 menu to disable the feature but it resets once the engine is turned off. Stupidest engineering I have ever seen in a vehicle.
We just took our 2023 in to show them some errors we got in the dash display.... Five or so error codes while simply driving down the road on cruise control going about 40 mph. Had to pull over 2 times and restart car and the msg went away. We went to the dealer and showed them the msgs from a video/pic I took. They said there's no sense in putting it in their computer because it won't show anything. Seriously?! Here are pics... Does anyone know what these msgs are? Thanks I guess I'll have to try and get my pics on here. 🙄
