I own the Pathfinder Rock Creek model you tested, body color and all and agree with you 100%. I've owned Ford Expeditions for over 20 years and absolutely love this vehicle.
I wish my experience with the Telluride was a positive one. I traded in my 2017 Pathfinder for a 2021 Telluride because it was everybody’s recommendation and a couple months down the road I started having issues with the screen and the camera and at 12k I started having issues with the transmission. I love the space and how the Telluride looks but I will never get another Kia product again.
cars just have issues that car brands fix later down the road and not all Kia's are built the same so judging a brand from one car that not everyone has problems with shows me you probably don't treat your car as well as other people do. Or you just got a faulty car which all brands have Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan they all have faulty cars it's not the end of the world. Also u.s. Kia's are as reliable as Korean built Kia's sooooo maybe next time get a Korean kia. You can see where there built by looking at the vin sticker on the side of the driver door.
@@user-pf7bb8ew5r your assumption is incorrect. I do take care of my vehicles and do the recommended maintenance at the recommended intervals by the manufacture. In this case, as you mentioned, I probably was unlucky enough to get a faulty vehicle. But that doesn’t mean I have not had other experiences with other Kia products. We also have a 2020 Kia Soul that has been recalled 3 times. All maintenance has been done at the dealership when recommended. I also had experienced issues with a previous Kia vehicle with their 2.0 engine so the Telluride was not my first time. As I said I wish my experience with the Telluride was better as I really like what the vehicle offers but based on my experiences I will not get a Kia/Hyundai product again.
Wow transmission problems already @ 12k miles. I have a 2007 honda element with a little over 450k miles and yes, I have abused it 😮 and it still drives strong and has not one problem with the transmission. I'm looking at the pathfinder or the Honda pilot and never would get a Kia or Hyundai 😮😊😅
Great review! I got my new Pathfinder SV 4x4 about a year ago. Could not be happier with it, loaded top to bottom, plenty of power, and close to the same size as my wife’s Sequoia. I like the Pathfinder styling way better than the Telluride, especially the looks of the new Rock Creek edition.
Good job using real world items like baby seats and the blue box which is a lot better than rattling off stats. That area behind the third row in the Nissan being plastic on the floor and seat backs is very nice vs the carpet on the Kia
Great video! I've got the 2021 Telluride EX (AWD, tow package, self-leveling shocks, Nightfall edition)...that's a mouthful... I drove my Kia round-trip between Tamp and Seattle (Aug/Sept 2022), and the seats were great. They're firm, but not stiff. The ventilated/heated seats were great as well. I'm 5'11, 180lbs, and decided to sleep in the Kia using my camping gear for the 7 nights I was on the road. NO REGRETS! The foam-filled voids inside the car's panels kept it super quiet the entire drive, as well as for sleeping at rest areas. I put down row 2 and 3 for sleeping, and had clearance at head and toe - touching nothing, plenty of room to toss and turn and stretch out, as well as store my duffle bags, water, other gear, etc.. I had my portable fridge plugged into my Jackery, and the Jackery plugged into the DC outlet in the back, so that daisy chain allowed my fridge to run 24-7, without running the car during sleeping - or using the car battery. The car shuts off the DC in the back when the motor's off, and the jackery powers the fridge. By morning, the jackery needs charging, so once the car starts, that DC outlet fires up and starts charging the Jackery while I drive. Perfect. On the way back from Seattle, I towed a 5x8 enclosed U-Haul, with gross weight of just under 2,000 lbs. I really didn't notice it behind me. No loss in power, handling, or braing. High altitude made a difference once in a while, as the car wanted more oxygen. Normal for my sea-level Florida car! The ONLY reason I would have gone for the Pathfinder is for the 6k towing, but no way would I trade my Telluride for it- not worth the money/tradeoff; I'd rather go with with a truck if I had to.
I’m siding with the Telluride Prestige Pro X. I am a family man my wife our 4 month old son and expecting another one next year. So certain priorities are in place for me. #1 mama got to be happy in it. #2 need a three row that can multitask and provide a balanced of comfort, power and practicality with a AWD platform. #3 longevity, and growth, we plan on keeping this 3rd row vehicle for a long time so as our family grows we have the room. We also considered a minivan, however minivans sit too low for my wife so that goes out the window. I live in Texas where it gets very hot n humid. So keeping the wife cool is priority #1. The Ventilated seats for the hot days would be a must. Telluride has them in the first and second row. The amount of charging ports of the seats, interior layout, design and features feels like an european luxury car. The steering wheel is very ergonomic, confident and smooth. I like the linear power of the engine. Towing 5,000 is plenty for me, mainly pulling lawn equipment or a sports car. And most importantly is my pregnant wife feels very comfortable in both the front and second rows. It passes her cupholder tests and it’s pretty easy getting in and out of the third row. I’m 6ft and I can sit behind myself very comfortably. And same on the third row. Car seats are very easy to get in the second and third row. Telluride to me feels more balanced. If I want to go rock climbing or serious off-road would consider neither. Driving it was not cumbersome or felt ridged. It feels natural and very confident. The ergonomics is perfect for us.
My wife drives a 22 Pathfinder SL 4WD. Very nice looking and riding vehicle. Super comfortable on long trips. However, it’s about as far from an off-roader as you can get. Slapping on some goofy wheels, tires and black cladding doesn’t change that. Nice video though as usual.
The one thing that I do like is that the drive modes do actually work. Throw it in eco and it locks it in 2wd unless you really start slipping. Throw it in snow, and it locks it at 50/50 split and cuts your throttle so you have much finer control over how much power you're putting down.
I like the looks of the Kia better but my sister in law had a pathfinder for years and they towed with it, wrecked it, took it on long vacations cross country. That thing never missed a beat even at the height of their transmission issues they had no problems.
Real head room for a full size adult in the third row is an easy win for the Pathfinder. No one is going to put kids in the third row due to rear end collisions. Great practical video.
Seems to me if your concerned with luxury interiors and like how the Pathfinder drives, just upgrade and get the new Infiniti QX60. Arguably looks better than both of these, inside and out. More in line with the Telluride's $$ also.
We purchased a '22 Pathfinder about 15 months ago and really like it a lot. I agree the shifter is a little different at first but we are totally used to it now. Electronic shifters are the way things are going these days for some reason, although in the Nissan the electronic shifter allow a lot of storage underneath.
The Telluride wins on all categories for me except the dealer mark up price. They’re the most selling and hardest to find because everyone wants them for the rugged looks and specifications being so boxy/rugged looking but unfortunately dealerships are asking for too much money.
Got a 23 awd S model telluride yesterday for 2k over sticker bringing it to 44k that's still 10k less then the grand cherokee L Limited we bought and was a lemon and got bought back
One dealership was selling a x-pro at $8K over sticker but said he could negotiate. I told him I was only interested at msrp and he said he couldn’t do that…..so I shook his hand and walked out. Went to another dealer to order one and that had one coming in 2 weeks and I told him the same thing….only interested at msrp. Sales guy said they have a policy not to sell any vehicle over msrp. They add $700 for a treatment to the paint and interior but you can decline that and they’ll take it off.
@shane401 You still paid over MSRP for a Kia... 😆 You paid for the hype. The Pathfinder has been around for two decades. 10x more reliable especially with the 9-speed. Good luck getting into service when that screen starts glitching. Pathfinder all day.
I would've liked a comparison on fuel economy, differences in the 4WD systems in both, and your opinion on the reliability of the drivetrains in both. Even if you just gave us the EPA numbers, a brief description of how each 4WD system is set up, and your thoughts on drivetrain reliability.
The pathfinder is a better vehicle, even with Nissan QC not being what it was 20 years ago it’ll still be better than a Kia/Hyundai and if you do have a problem the dealer and manufacturer won’t lie to you as much.
@@robertduklus6555 The joke is on you as *AWD* is totally different than *4wd* not to mention the Pathfinders' full tine 4wd system is superior to the Tellurides' AWD system. 😂😆
Here's a real world experience that I posted on another video about these disgraces to the pathfinder name. What a piece of junk! No ground clearance even with that massive .6 in lift, very little articulation, almost a negative approach angle, pretty much useless except on a dirt road, ok you did manage to ride over 50ft of small rocks. Last spring i rebuilt an 02 pathy with a manual 5sp and added upgrades for even more offroad capability. Recently took it in to a local dealer to replace a recalled airbag. A salesman came over and says it looks great, can see I go offroad, and he can give me a great trade in for one of those rock creek mallfinders. I said forget it, that thing couldnt even run the easy trails that a couple miles away from the dealership. The guy says oh you would be surprised with what this thing can do so i said prove it. He says ok, we have some obstacles in a lot down the road, I assume something like in this video. I laughed and asked what some 6in speed bumps? I said follow me to the trails and if it can handle it I would give it some consideration. After some hmms and haass and assurances that there wasnt any mud around he finally agreed and off we went. Within a couple min the saleman in the mallfinder finds himself high centered on a track with ruts about 9in deep. He didnt want to run on the side and possibly scratch the doors. I jumped off the trail, ran through some brush/cactus (I'm in AZ), pulled up next to the guy, and sarcastically asked if he was having an issue and needed some help, i told him not to worry as I carry tow straps. The guy sheepishly says he thinks he can back it out and roughed up some undercarriage components as he forces the thing out in reverse. Back at the start of the rut trail I tell the guy he better head back as this is the only entry road for a few miles and he agreed. I said I think I'll keep my real pathy and since i was there was gonna go try to find some mud. The guy didn't say another word. The thing looks nice enough, has strong towing capacity, but otherwise cant handle much more than a speed bump.
@@digitalmdrealmd9124 you don’t buy a Pathfinder if you want a real off road capable car. This Rock Creek is just off road marketing. Same with any Palisade or Telluride. These are not real off-roaders. One has to be very naive to believe that. It’s sad that these companies advertise these SUV’s as off road capable vehicles. With that said, Nissan offers cars that are a really off road capable, like the Frontier or the the Armada.
@@jz7551 Thats exactly why I rebuilt my 02, the R50 platform was the last Pathfinder to have true off road capability. While the Armada is a rugged body on frame vehicle, it is just too big and unwieldy on the trail, much like the R51 Pathfinder platform
I’m in Texas. Initially, I thought I wanted a Kia X-Pro. Ended up buying a Rock Creek for about 9,000 dollars less. It’s a great vehicle for the money.
@@peetymed The price difference was a big factor. Also, the wait for the Pathfinder was only 3 weeks for color we wanted. Many Rock Creeks are readily available. The KIAs are on waiting lists, and many dealers in Texas are still charging a premium over MSRP. I have yet to see an X-Pro in the flesh.
@@peetymedit's very functional, though not plush. The zero-gravity seats are nice. Lots of legroom in the 2nd row. And since I live in the desert 🏜, a sunroof is unnecessary. I prefer the solid roof.
@الأسلام المحمدي الأصيل This is a variation of the reliable ZF 9-speed transmission that has been around for 10 years. For years, this transmission has been used many different vehicles, including the Jeep Cherokee and the Land Rover.
Great title! Definitely two poser off-roaders. There was a time when the Pathfinder was a pretty serious vehicle, comparable to a 4runner, or almost. Ever since they went unibody and tried to make the Pathfinder upscale, the reliability and capability went straight down the toilet. They had the Xterra for a while, but they didn't sell enough to keep it around ( too niche?). The Telluride seems to be a media darling, well appointed, but also shows up at the very bottom of some recent "least reliable" lists (CR, I think). Good on you, Steven, for not getting caught up in the hype! Keep it up!
In the Kia, you adjusted the backrest of front seat to not sacrifice knee room, allowing you just enough to get in. But for Nissan, you moved the entire front seat forward instead, to make sure your knees will dig into the dash and demonstrate insufficient knee room. Why the deliberate difference in methods?
So French Renault Nissan is more reliable than hyundai and Kia? Don’t make Scotty Kilmer laugh lol he thinks Nissans are the worst Japanese cars right now and every mechanic I know unianimously agrees. Shit have you seen how easy it is to work on the Hyundais even a 2019 pathfinder is ridiculous to work on compared to anything korean
@@ALMX5DP I want to say it was an SX. I remember it had black wheels. It looked sharp but rattled and such going down the road. We test drove a Carnival the same day and had the same experience. This was December 2021. We drove a lot of vehicles during that time. Narrowed it down to the Highlander and the Pathfinder. My wife chose the Pathfinder because she like the styling, comfort and features for the money better than the Highlander. Objectively, I thought the Highlander was the best built, but I let her choose.
@@nolefan87 oh interesting, looks to be a mid level trim so wonder if it was due to that or build date. Not the first time I’ve heard of people mentioning things like that, just seems like all the review cars don’t exhibit that so maybe KIA really tries hard to cherry pick the good ones for journalists.
@@ALMX5DP Kia and Hyundai look great when you just superficially check them out. Spend a few months with them and it becomes clear how they pack so much in their vehicles and where they cut costs.
Not sure if you put the Telluride's drive mode into "Sport," but if you do, it does noticeably improve throttle response and revs the engine higher before shifting, both of which help improve acceleration. Most of the time "Comfort" is just fine for me though.
Be careful about revving up a Kia. A friend and I saw a car 🚗 on the side of the frwy engulfed in flames and pulled off to offer assistance. It was a car just sitting in a parking lot on fire 🔥 with nobody in it. It was a KIA. I got it on video, someone called the fire dept and they put out the fire. I heard that Kia's just sitting still can catch on fire.😮😮😢I think Hyundai's are the same way??😮😮😢😢
Kia still looks better to me. But that Nissan is a great effort. In these crazy days of overpriced vehicles, these almost seem reasonable. The tough competition for them both is new Honda Pilot.
I was glad you compared third row seating space, as in my opinion it explains why the blue bin had less space behind the seats in the Pathfinder, they give a couple extra inches to leg room. We purchased a Pathfinder SL 2 days ago. My interior is quite beautiful. I am not a fan of the shifter as you pointed out, I also am concerned about the emergency parking. I'm going to further investigate, if the battery shuts off will it stay in emergency parking? I drove the Rock Creek, it was to rugged for my living/lifestyle, I drove two Tellurides and they were a bit loud, however my friend has a Kia Telluride and she loves it, not sure which one but it's definitely the best or next to the best 2022 model. I also like the turning radius on my Pathfinder, it makes much tighter turns vs. the Rogue. My hope is the Pathfinder will last for years like my Rogue has lasted without anything more than regular upkeep for the miles, and it has 180,000 miles doing regular maintenance really helps the preservation, same this with my Toyota van I had 190,000 miles and it only ever needed the things you would expect to replace for the miles. Thanks for showing comparisons!
With the electronic shifter, I’m also concerned if the vehicle will be able to shift out of Park to Neutral in the event of battery failure. This could be a problem if the vehicle needed to be loaded onto a flatbed truck for towing.
I test drove both of these vehicles recently. A Platinum Pathfinder and only an S trim Telluride. The Kia is by far nicer inside and out than the Pathfinder, even comparing a more base model Kia to top of the line Nissan. It has a much smoother and more powerful feeling powertrain too. The Pathfinder's 9 speed feels like it never knows what gear it wants to be in. The Telluride's 8 speed knows exactly what gear it wants to be in, and many shifts are imperceptible. The Nissan is not a bad vehicle, but when something in the segment is as good as the Telluride, I can't justify going with the Pathfinder. Personally, I would definitely choose the Telluride over the Pathfinder.
I test drove the Pathfinder ( not the rock creek) this was also the 2022 model. I thought the seat were actually less comfortable than the telluride. I eventually bought the Telly. I felt like I got more bang for the buck. Great vacation vehicle. Gas mileage was also good. My only complaint was during the summer the a/c seemed a little anemic. It also uses regular gas no premium. So far no regrets
Tested both and ended up leasing the Pathfinder for less $$$. I did like the drive, the space between the seats, and the wireless apple car play. In the Tellurides you need to plug in.
We’re you able to negotiate on the Pathfinder? My local Nissan dealer is still refusing to negotiate lower than MSRP, despite having 6 Pathfinders on the lot. Lease payments on MSRP are staggering.
@@zhiyako4032 they’re both pretty good. Just took the pathfinder up to Tahoe and it performed really well in deep snow. A lot of the other cars were getting stuck.
Thank you for a great review guys as always. It's unfortunate that the Pathfinder began as a much more capable off road vehicle and has been reduced to this. The Kia was never born that way. If I had to choose it would be the Pathfinder all the way for looks and capability, But I wouldn't spend a dime on either. I feel it's just another bunch of cars that are pretending to be what they're not.
One thing I love about the pathfinder is the any time you accelerate it pick up immediately you accelerate , unlike other cars when you accelerate it's takes some time for it to pick up.
You do great reviews, but not having the second row all the way back as a scenario negates the seat room test for me. Also knees half an inch from the dash are not going to survive an accident.
I really do like the pathfinder rock creek. In defense of the pathfinders shifter it does have the indicator light right beside whichever gear you have selected so yes u will build muscle memory as with anything but the visual cues are instant. One thing id love to see is a better set of tires on each. If you are going to advertise these trim packages as more off road friendly the tires should match that sentiment.
The Toyos are decent, but I will be replacing them with the BF Goodrich KO 2s when the time comes. Hopefully, I’ll be able to go up to a +1 size, in order to get a little more clearance.
@@djcracker1 if you are considering the bfgs i would also look at the falken wildpeak at3s and the mickey thompson baja boss ats. Ive had them both and i have no complaints on either. Both are excellent in rain, snow, dirt, mud, towing, highway, and both are quiet while daily driving. I have been more than impressed with both tires. The mickey t's are a bit more aggressive than the falken wildpeaks
It's really simple. If you want the vehicle for off-roading buy the Nissan. If you want a luxury vehicle, that can get you where you want to go, and can tow with, buy the Telluride.
I think Nissan missed the mark on the new pathfinder. If they just refreshed the vintage look pathfinder and make it rugged and tough looking. They will sell like crazy because Nissan has a price advantage. Instead, they held back and make it just a bit too “family friendly”
@@grattonland XD, then it is too much. At least 1k extra cost. 99% of soccer mom/dads won’t ever know how to use it. Plus the new pathfinder is too long to be a true off-roader anyway… It just need to look tough but doesn’t have to be really tough to satisfy soccer moms/dads
@@RandomUser1668 still considering one. Wife has a Murano, I have a Sierra with a levelling kit. We are switching to one vehicle. She won’t drive a truck and I need at least 5000 lbs towing capacity. So Pathfinder is the compromise. I’d love low range when pulling a loaded trailer up the hill at the cottage. More for control than power. Slow and steady is my motto
I would choose the pathfinder. Better value proposition for the money and my kids can grow into the 3rd row. Your test sealed it for me. Was considering the Ascent so will look at you video but I already have a bias against CVTs so looks like I need to get that money for the Pathfinder.
We love our pathfinder. Very comfortable on long trips. Kia has more tech. Although I never got to try there self driving tech I do love the pro pilot partial self driving on our Nissan. It’s great for long boring interstate driving. The camera system is better on the Kia. More plush. And even a little more quiet then the Nissan. But …. A 9-10,000 dollar markup over the Nissan isn’t in my book worth it. 1000 pound more towing on the Nissan. Kia engines catching fire like crazy. Car garages in the cities not allowing the Kias in them because of it. Kias headlight complaints all over their forums. Makes me glad I bought the Nissan even more.
Pathfinder because it's engine is more impressive with295 HP, itvtows more runs faster to 60. Love the contrast zero gravity seats with waterproof fabric Wnd leatherette looks more luxurious and is more practical👍🏽
Pathfinder all day. Nissan is way ahead in off-road trucks in general eg Nissan Patrol, X - Trail. One more thing, Nissan pioneered the bird eye view tech.
From most angles, I prefer the styling of the Kia, but for the money, it would be hard to justify spending the extra for it over the Pathfinder. I do think the Pathfinder kind of looks more like a minivan, or at least more bloated. Nissan really needs to come out with a new version of the Xterra based on the Frontier. That would probably help get enthusiasts interested in Nissan again.
I'd never buy either of these but if I was forced to choose I'd take the Telluride, it just looks a lot nicer. It's a pity that Nissan has abandoned it's true SUV heritage that made the gen 1-3 pathfinders such good vehicles. Now they just make a whole slew of crossover soft-roaders. It would be nice if they had an SUV based on the same platform as the Frontier.
They’re going with what people are buying. They do make the Nissan Terra and X-Terra in other markets. I wish they sold them here. I got the Pathfinder in this video and yeah it can’t do “real” off-roading but it can do a little bit. Personally with as much as a spent on it I’d flip out if I messed anything up. Better to buy a cheap Xterra and scratch it up on the trail. This is for me and other dads to have the coolest car in the work parking lot.
I miss my Xterra Pro4X. A true offroad SUV. Not a crossover like these are. Will likely get a Pathfinder though, I no longer off-road, but I do rough dirt roads.
Too many people have mentioned the Pathfinder's transmission is vague and sluggish. I really don't trust KIA all that much either. A few of them are starting to pop up needing an engine overhaul or rebuild from the carbon build-up. I'm waiting for the '24 Passport.
Can you explain why you didn't put the back seats as far back as they would go with the child seat installed and bring the front seat back as far as you could before showing the front legroom? I don't trust the Kia reliability any further than I could throw it. Also the Kia looks are horrendous.
The tires on the Rock Creek are much bigger when you see them in real life, was at the dealer the other day looking at one, they are really beefy tires, for this segment. They are only 18" which I have on my current SUV, but these are really bigger than the standard 18" that come on many SUV these days. When you see this in real life, it strikes you as a type of Truck SUV. The dealer offered to let me have it for the day, boy was that tempting to try out.
I think there are quite a few tiers when referring to offroading. Unibodies are fine for some of the lower ones, especially in the context of three row daily drivers.
And neither the GC or new Land Rover are gonna be used off-road. Both of those are suburban mom going to Whole Foods vehicles. And that’s exactly why they’re not body on frame.
@@Cody_Austin not sure what that has to do with the vehicle itself. I’m sure there are quite a few Rubicons that owners won’t be taking far offroad either. But fact is there are capable unibody vehicles out there.
I test drove the Passport, it felt great, looked awesome, however the one I drove didn't have the same quick pickup as the Pathfinder (in my opinion). My friend has a Kia and hers is beautiful, however we just purchased a SL Pathfinder and my interior is beautiful, the Rock Creek was really nice, just to rugged for me.
The better comparison of the two brands, would have been best to compare the Telluride X-Pro model to the Rock Creek, which are designed to be competing models. All in all informative video.

Telluride all the way, it has better looks inside and out and has an amazing AWD system tested by TFL
Now that Nissan dropped the CVT I'd go Pathfinder.
Real head room for a full size adult in the third row is an easy win for the Pathfinder. No one is going to put kids in the third row due to rear end collisions. Great practical video.
You do if you have 4 kids!
Seems to me if your concerned with luxury interiors and like how the Pathfinder drives, just upgrade and get the new Infiniti QX60. Arguably looks better than both of these, inside and out. More in line with the Telluride's $$ also.
Thank you king crew for this real life demo of those two vehicles
We purchased a '22 Pathfinder about 15 months ago and really like it a lot. I agree the shifter is a little different at first but we are totally used to it now. Electronic shifters are the way things are going these days for some reason, although in the Nissan the electronic shifter allow a lot of storage underneath.
The Telluride wins on all categories for me except the dealer mark up price. They’re the most selling and hardest to find because everyone wants them for the rugged looks and specifications being so boxy/rugged looking but unfortunately dealerships are asking for too much money.
It's a Kia. Still Korean junk.
I wouldn't spend money on a vehicle thats stolen easily .
I would've liked a comparison on fuel economy, differences in the 4WD systems in both, and your opinion on the reliability of the drivetrains in both. Even if you just gave us the EPA numbers, a brief description of how each 4WD system is set up, and your thoughts on drivetrain reliability.
Enjoy Life
The Telluride has the cheaper, less capable *AWD system* & doesn't offer 4wd like the Pathfinder.
@@TheBjjones and less reliable
The pathfinder is a better vehicle, even with Nissan QC not being what it was 20 years ago it’ll still be better than a Kia/Hyundai and if you do have a problem the dealer and manufacturer won’t lie to you as much.
@@TheBjjones how do you figure nissan has better awd system? why do you think nissan is awd ? because of the badge?🤣
@@robertduklus6555
The joke is on you as *AWD* is totally different than *4wd* not to mention the Pathfinders' full tine 4wd system is superior to the Tellurides' AWD system. 😂😆
You guys forgot to drive off road. I expected at least a mild test of the awd systems.
It would break the Kia with those wheels.
I test drove both, bought a 2024 rock creek. Love it so far.
Kia is hyped up , i bought the 2023 Nissan Platinum love it
Same here, I think Kia is overrated and that’s why I went with the Explorer Timberline and I just love it.
Agreed. Remember dealerships charging so much over msrp for em too lol. Embarrassing the kia cost more
The Telluride is nice but the Pathfinder feels more rugged
I’m in Texas. Initially, I thought I wanted a Kia X-Pro. Ended up buying a Rock Creek for about 9,000 dollars less. It’s a great vehicle for the money.
I'm trying to decide between the 2. What made you go for the Nissan?
@@peetymed The price difference was a big factor. Also, the wait for the Pathfinder was only 3 weeks for color we wanted. Many Rock Creeks are readily available. The KIAs are on waiting lists, and many dealers in Texas are still charging a premium over MSRP. I have yet to see an X-Pro in the flesh.
@@djcracker1 I was able to see the X- line but not an X-pro. Both seem like good fits for my family. How do you like the interior?
I love the looks of the new Pathfinder and I still trust Japanese engines more than Korean ones.

We shopped the Telluride vs our Pathfinder. The Kia had the build quality of a Walmart shopping cart. Not impressed.
What trim level did you test?
@@nolefan87 my EX has 76k and is as quiet as when we bought it(no rattling ever).
Not sure if you put the Telluride's drive mode into "Sport," but if you do, it does noticeably improve throttle response and revs the engine higher before shifting, both of which help improve acceleration. Most of the time "Comfort" is just fine for me though.
I would be careful about revving the engine in a Kia, make sure you stay vigilant on oil changes and check your oil often
The Pathfinder has "Sport" mode as well.
Pathfinder can do the same
Be careful about revving up a Kia.
I heard that Kia's just sitting still can catch on fire.😮😮😢I think Hyundai's are the same way??😮😮😢😢
The Telluride is nice but the Pathfinder feels more rugged 💪
Definitely the pathfinder
Well good luck to kias if they get to 200 thousand miles like mi nissan rouge.
Would have been nice to see some off-roading, given that both these trims are supposedly equipped for it.
I can't believe Nissan is still alive. Amazing.
Just bought a Rock Creeka few weeks ago, ours has captains chairs in the 2nd row, very comfortable. Love the Nissan so far.
Pretty sure all rock creek have the captains chairs standard
Always appreciate you jumping in the 3rd row
So far no regrets
like the commentary just bought 2023 rock creek love it
Tested both and ended up leasing the Pathfinder for less $$$.

One thing I love about the pathfinder is the any time you accelerate it pick up immediately you accelerate , unlike other cars when you accelerate it's takes some time for it to pick up.
I have the 23 Rock creek and the blue bin will fit. You just gotta adjust the 3rd row angle to almost straight like how the kia was.
2022 Pathfinder Platinum AWD all the way❤💗
Telluride of course, not even a single question. :)
The Rock Creek edition of the Pathfinder Rocks! 👍
Hard to beat Nissan seat comfort.. Its one of the best !
7:56 why didn’t you put the middle row all the way back to give the front as much room as possible? Looked like you moved it up a notch or two.
You do great reviews, but not having the second row all the way back as a scenario negates the seat room test for me. Also knees half an inch from the dash are not going to survive an accident.
The Rock Creek also comes with Toyo AT3’s which are at the top of the list for top AT tires on the market.
I don't know what tires they are putting on in Canada spec Rock Creeks, but mine came with Toyo Open Country A/T III tires.
They changed the tires in the 23 models. They are alot BETTER.
The mickey t's are a bit more aggressive than the falken wildpeaks
The X-Line Pro does provide such a tire package stock with 18 inch rims.
The pathfinder also has the beautiful chestnut interior color that looks more luxury!
It's really simple. If you want the vehicle for off-roading buy the Nissan. If you want a luxury vehicle, that can get you where you want to go, and can tow with, buy the Telluride.
Rock creek all day...all the way!!!
I think Nissan missed the mark on the new pathfinder. If they just refreshed the vintage look pathfinder and make it rugged and tough looking. They will sell like crazy because Nissan has a price advantage. Instead, they held back and make it just a bit too “family friendly”

But …. Pathfinder all day. Nissan is way ahead in off-road trucks in general eg Nissan Patrol, X - Trail. One more thing, Nissan pioneered the bird eye view tech.
I'd buy the rock creek.
I drove both, and bought the Pathfinder(SL). Telluride felt like driving a midsize car, which is a win for some people, but not me.
I will love to choose the Nissan Pathfinder rock creek,I really do love Nissan Pathfinders.❤

Where the heck is the 2023 Honda pilot trail sport??
Too many people have mentioned the Pathfinder's transmission is vague and sluggish. I really don't trust KIA all that much either. A few of them are starting to pop up needing an engine overhaul or rebuild from the carbon build-up. I'm waiting for the '24 Passport.
Idk a lot of dealers keep charging over MSRP. It's getting rough
Love the Camera system
Can you explain why you didn't put the back seats as far back as they would go with the child seat installed and bring the front seat back as far as you could before showing the front legroom? I don't trust the Kia reliability any further than I could throw it. Also the Kia looks are horrendous.
Lol, the Telluride is almost universally praised for its looks and styling, so to each their own...
Looks like the Nissan seat could have went back more? Like an inch or so. But no biggie. Nice review
yeah he said that the standard was that it'd fit a piece of paper. My first thought when i saw that was "that fits a book, not a piece of paper..."

There isn’t one unibody vehicle that belongs in an off-road trim. If they were serious about off-roading, make a body on frame.
