Not exactly. He basically put a cap on himself during his peak not allowing himself to go past the point he was. This allowed him to store and compact it all inside so that he would be able to stay at his capped power for the rest of his life. Him getting in shape before the ark was him just shaking the cobwebs off and oiling the gears.
He forced himself to stay weaker to prolong his selected cap in power for the rest of his life.

I personally believe Netero had eaten the nitro rice and so is actually far more comparable to someone around half his age, Therefor Netero’s degradation had more to do with him letting himself go after years of not finding a worthy opponent than it did with him being old, Back in the first arc when Netero still had his beard it still had some colour in it down the bottom which tells me he had far more vitality than his age would usually dictate, We are aware of the fact that Netero did return to the dark continent once post his enlightenment and he seemingly traveled alone I believe this is when he likely consumed a large amount of nitro rice and I believe he never had any intention of bringing it back with him since I speculate that attempts to bring back something from the Dark continent is likely what attracts calamities, In other words I believe Netero had enough life left in him to make a worthy sacrifice for Zero hand, Sacrificing his vitality rather than his potential (which he had already achieved).

It's probably because netero is both old and already at his prime and has almost nothing to offer for a nen vow.
Look at gon meanwhile. Dude is a one and a million/billion potential and at long before his prime. Giving up all that potential basically would give him that massive gain since gon would know he paid in full and then some.

A thing a lot of people miss is Gon didn't sacrifice JUST his body, his biggest sacrifice was his Potential not just his Nen but his literal LIFE, something only a child could do, the older you get the closer you are to your "actual potential"
"if this is the end, I don't care, So I'll use everything"
He essentially traded all the infinite potential of his Nen and growth for power, I think it's been said in one of his posts that Togashi said Gon could have become as strong as Gon-san if he just worked at being stronger his entire life, it was essentially him throwing away his potential of becoming that in the future for a shortterm burst now.
Restriciton and pledge and all that.
The restriction is "I won't ever be able to use Nen again" and the Pledge "I don't care if this is the end"

  • @Sheriff-ev7my
    @Sheriff-ev7my 5 днів тому +7

We’re forgetting something pitou said. Gon traded ALL of his capability, prowess and nen ability to be used at once from his entire life span. Killua points out this would take YEARS of NON STOP training to reach- because its his max and full put out at once. Killua was horrified at the sacrifice he would have had to make, to have that much nen at once. Its because it’s EVERYTHING as Gon said, and Gon is an extreme prodigy as well as emotionally unstable. He meant it; and used all of it. When you’re half or over your life span, you could have already reached potential and just have a moderate amount of power generated to the end of your lifespan to where the difference won’t matter.
Gon being a kid and sacrificing an entire life of a prodigy’s worth of nen is the reason he was that strong. Had netero been a kid and called on all his potential and all nen from throughout his life, that being even his older age, he would have most likely been just as broken if not more.

  • @b_delta9725
    @b_delta9725 4 дні тому +10

its ironic and kind of a loophole that, the only reason gon is allowed to do this pact, is because in his mind he had a FUTURE, i bet that almost anyone in this situation would not wish for all the power they could have because, well, they'd think they're gonna die, what future would you be giving up to become strong if you're gonna die right now? you'd have to trick yourself into thinking you'll live
and thats what gon does, he was never afraid of pitou, since the moment he arrived at the palace he wanted to fight 1v1, because he always had intentions of doing everything possible to defeat pitou AND live, to claim victory and take pitou to kite, then he tried to kill pitou anyways because thats how gon is, and then he calmed down, but when when he finds out kite is dead his brain turns off, when pitou says he's gonna kill him he doesn't care at all; he knows that he'll need a huge sacrifice to kill pitou, and can't imagine an universe where she kills him instead, he HAS to take revenge for kite and so he chooses to die in his own terms

Diamonds being far more valuable and rare than sapphires and you have seen how talented Killua is, making Gon all the more impressive. Netero couldn’t have made the same vow as Gon. The reason Gon actually literally ages up instead of JUST getting more power is because he’s not just getting powers, but he’s basically putting himself into his adult body. That is what Gon would actually look like if he became an adult. Gon already knew that one day he would be strong enough to kill Pitou, so he made a contract that he sacrifices his future as a not just a nen user, but as a human with a life and gave up all of his life force to have it “now.” Gon would have suffered for the rest of his living days, as a result of the condition we saw him in the chairman election arc, if Alluka hadn’t saved him. He had no more nen at all, which is what caused him to shrivel up.
Basically, Netero couldn’t have made the same vow, because he didn’t have any more potential to get stronger in terms of aura quantity, at least not in the same way Gon did. Gon sacrificed his potential for suffering, by taking a ride for few minutes inside his future body. Netero was too old to do that.

It’s funny which character fits the 5 criteria for the transformation.
    Pitou
    1. Pitou is a specialist
    2. Pitou had such strong emotions it triggered post mortem Nen
    3. Do you think a chimera ant royal guard has high potential?
    4. Pitou is less than a year old with a possible lifespan counted in the centuries
    5. Any royal guard would gladly suffer a fate worse than death to destroy a threat strong enough to kill the king

amazing analysis. i would also add that gon has such a simple nen ability that he likely had a lot of “mental room” to conceive of this way of using his power to accomplish his goals. the simplicity of jajanken vs something bespoke like kastro’s ability gives him a lot of wiggle room to be creative. i think this is highlighted by the fact that even in his adult form, he chooses to use the one ability he already has to crush pitou. he wants to win on his terms, and show himself that he isn’t weak (edit: this also happens every arc, gon won’t accept victory unless he deems it worthy (hanzo, gen thru, asking chrollo why kills people, etc). i think he thought victory this time meant both a world where he and pitou die, so he gets revenge for kite, while also getting to be “like kite (dead))

I would argue Zero hand was his version of a similar pact, aka trading off whats left of his aura forever for a big attack, just expressed differently and as you said he didnt have the same future potential to draw from. Also important to remember, adult gon is not a level of aura gon could ever reach naturally, thats not how it worked but a common misunderstanding. It was an amplification effect, aka, peak gon multiplied by (X), as all pacts and conditions work this way. For example, if his potential MoP were to be 150k aura, this form would be that multiplied that many many times over, 10 or more likely, albeit the exact amount of amplification being superfluous and impossible to know for sure.

@@chibisphere That was what I indeed, argued for, I believe. Netero's level of training was already considered as insane. Gon's would have been that taken up to eleven over a period of 20+ years.

@@theoverthinker348 yeah we dont disagree, was just sayin how i thought of it. Its common for first time viewers to think gon woulda been this strong naturally later in life, not that you said that, but i always point it out anyways that the amplification of the pact is a huge factor in making this possible

Reason being netero is not a fool.He understood the value of life. And what it meant too lose it before he even ran into meruem.
Netero went all the way too the said dark continent.Therefor he must have then feelt a thousands times more desperate then gon did after kite.
Yet he did not snuff himself out why?Because he has conviction.
And he won’t let his own selfish emotions get in the way of the plan.He did everything. That he could.Never less and didn’t put his faith in nen curses

I don’t think that Gon’s transformed state was a possible level to achieve naturally regardless of training, remember that aura is literally “life energy” he took an entire life time’s worth of life energy and compressed it into one moment. That amount of aura just isn’t possible to have at one time naturally

I mean... I'm sure anybody who hasn't yet reached their prime can do something like this. The issue is just that they would still have to give up their life for a fate worse than death, and would get a power increase vastly lower than Gon's. Like, if Hisoka did this, he would get a transformation 20% weaker by default, and even weaker still as a result of him being much closer to his prime. He probably wouldn't even be twice as strong, but would still suffer forever.

1.he can’t. This is my theory it only works if your young and haven’t reach ed a lot of your potential plus adult Gons transformation was because he was protected by adults so much once he had to experience pain for himself he broke and became an adult it’s a significant ion.

Imo, What Gon did was a wasteful sacrifice for power, Netero sacrificed his enjoyment of battle and capped his physical strength at 90% to make his real fight the most exciting and worthy of dying from...Reminding me Kenpachi from Bleach.

@spaghettimaghetti5042 well this is a move only gon pulled off as he could've in a semi spicifc situation, it's pretty possible no one else did something like this before and therefore netero couldn't have known about it
Look if i were to be generous maybe netero thought about a move like this before in a theoretical way but didn't do much with it and left it as a mere thought because let's be real nothing suggests in the anime that netero did know of this spicifc ability being a possibility so that's as far as it goes
