This is an incredibly well done well produced well scripted and well-thought-out video thank you so much I really appreciate the time you took to make this I instantly thumbs up I instantly subscribe I look forward to any future contact you have but even if this was it I'm still going to stay here because your overall chemistry and reliability is amazing thank you
Wow you just made my day!!!! Hell my week. So kind for you to say. This episode was a lot of work and put a lot of time into it and comments like this are just simply amazing to hear. So so appreciate it. Keep being so kind and thank you for watching.
I agree on heat pump for the 3. However, if you plug in your 3 every night and schedule charging to end at the time you leave for work, the battery will be warm and you won’t lose regen.
Oh i do. The heat pump will help for when you out and about, example a hockey game and the car is sitting in cold for few hours. ;). Thanks for watching and comment. 😀
Your content is underrated! Perfect video for me - have been researching for hours if SR+ will handle 190km daily commute in Norway during winter. You gave me the final confidence to order one! Great content & love how you present it!
Just wanted to let you know I placed an order for a Model Y after watching your review. I was on and off about it because the SR+ was good enough for me, but the heat pump really sold me on it. I used your referral code! So thanks
Amazing man. I can’t wait for you to get it!!! You will love it. Thank you so much for using my referral code. It’s so nice of you. Let me know when you get it and your thoughts. 😀👍
Andrew Duong any updates on it? Just ordered mine a couple weeks ago and should be getting it soon. Anything you wish you knew beforehand or any tips for a soon to be Tesla owner?
@@philorgneopolotin8762 PPF the bottom part of the doors and get mud flaps so that you don't get rock chips there. That's honestly about it. I love the car and haven't had any major issues. I wish I would have waited a bit so that I could have gotten heated steering wheel or the updated centre console, but if I waited, I would have been waiting forever. Already got 30,000km and it's been 9 months of ownership
Well done explanations. Older drivers like myself would appreciate it if you did a video for senior citizens owning and driving a Tesla as to no need to gas-up, ingress/egress, driving in all weather road conditions, visual outward views, any issues with learning/understanding the complexity of the single monitor, lack of buttons for those experience arthritis, etc. thanks.
Dude thanks so much. You went through all the same questions I had, especially the LR vs FSD. Much appreciated hoping to order my Tesla SR+ later today :D
Awesome man, congrats and huge thank you on your comment. Always amazing to read great comments like this. Don't be shy if you have any other questions. :D
Good video! The only problem with charging a Tesla in my area and maybe in other parts of Northern California is some of the chargers Tesla superchargers and other types of chargers is that some become inoperable and are not fixed for long periods of time!
this looks better! I did a route planner and it added 7 hours to my trip, just tried it now and only 2 hours 42 minutes… they need to improve the range but that is much better than I thought. One of the biggest issues is going to be the inconveniences, if you are taking the family on a long trip you want to go as far as you can without stopping. Having stops every 2-hours is not going to work, especially early in the day. Get on the road get them to doze off and drive 5 hours, 30-minute stop then drive the rest of the way to your 1st hotel or whatever. If they get the range up to 800-1,000kms that would be much better… My Honda CRV gets me through an 8-hour trip for about 3 minutes of stopping for gas, so the stops would also need to be close to other amenities that are walkable within 10 minutes but at least it is becoming more realistic
Love the inclusion of your kids enjoying the acceleration. I don't own a Tesla yet but when I go out with my friends and they zip it around, I love my body forced against the seat as the Model 3 accelerates!!
"North might be a problem" As someone in northern Alberta... yes. This is my concern. "range anxiety" is a major problem when there is literally nothing for many kms where you could run out... Not even cell coverage sometimes. If I can pull off buying a house (so I can get a Tesla charger installed), then I might go ahead and lease a M3 as a daily/summer driver and keep my truck for long road trips/winter. I "recharged" my truck last night, in less than 10 min I got nearly 800km range. Even in winter that's still between 725 and 750 per "charge".
The 19 and 20" wheels lower your range over the 18" wheels because of two reasons: (1) Tires are performance summer only and provide more traction and will wear out faster. (2) Larger wheels are heavier and likely slightly less aerodynamic in order to appear more asthetically pleasing. If you get the performance model with 20" wheels, you will likely only be able to downsize to 19" for winter because of larger breaks. It should also be noted that the 18" tires are all season and low rolling resistance for a quiet ride and better EV efficiency.
Totally loved your video! I have been contemplating the purchase for months now. Living in Florida we only seem to have to seasons lol, Summer and Spring lol. Hot and hotter. This really helps especially from the budget concerns. Many You-tubers talk about the top tier trim lines but you reviewed more for the common guys. Good job my man!
Amazing man. Thank you so much for the kind words. So happy i could help. I wish we only had summer and spring over here too lol. Winter sucks lol. Don’t be shy if you have any questions at all. Always love talking Tesla. :)
You’re right, this car puts a smile on your face. It’s the first time ever that we argue over who drives.;) Seriously. It’s pathetic. It’s a deceptively capable car for such a modest battery size. We don’t have the serious winters that you do, so it’s good to go all year round.
Haha. My wife’s been asking for a model Y for a while now. Hopefully we can make it happen. It’s just such a joy to drive and I love the idea of them (wife and kids) driving around in the safest cars in the world. Thanks for watching and your comment C. 😀
Great video cleared lots of question marks on my mind. I'm planning to change my AWD petrol car in Sweden with 150 km daily commute and SR plus is top of my list within my budget. We don't have many superchargers where I live but it seems to charge every night at my garage is enough and have couple type 2 chargers at my work if needed. Thanks for this well-structured and helpful video.
Thanks Arda for the kind words. With the chargers level 2 at work your golden. Free charging is going to be awesome for you. You’ll love it man!!! Go for it 😀
I commute the same distance (Canada) with my 2020 model 3 sr and would suggest the LR. When the temp drops below -5c range is decreased by 1/2. I usually end up driving my petrol car during winter commutes and Tesla in the milder months (March - Nov)
I can afford a y or Lr, but I spent an hour with the Y last week and wasn’t wow’ed , not 80k wow’ed. We need a second vehicle so I may just buy one of these. The discount is good. I do worry about Ontario winter, snow and trips to Detroit airport (post-covid). Great video.
@@TeslaCanadianDad I actually have not, but I'm sure it's fine. The Y just felt boring and stiff to me. I am sure I will fall in love with a tesla, just not sure I will at 80K.
As an SR+ owner in Scotland, there was literally nothing in your video I could disagree with. Def ❤️ the one pedal driving (btw I don’t have any little sounds)
Love that your loving your Tesla just as much as I am. Only wish I could drive it more now a days. Thank you so much for watching. Really appreciate it.
I purchased my SR+ used and paid 42,700$ I drive 140 kms per day to and from work. No issues and I’m looking foreword to try it in winter. Ottawa winter that is.
Hi, I live in Central Europe. Got my SR+ last year. I was concerned about range- Winter etc. Here we don't have long range to drive so the SR+ is the best deal. If you go longer there are plenty Superchargers. Had 2 Issues: Rear tail light under Water(Warranty case) and a broken Cable tree underneath the driver seat(Warranty) fixed by service center Hannover quickly. regards Lorenz
Thanks for the Canadian point of view on the Model 3 SR+...I hope to be renting one this week in Ottawa to get a thorough feel for it. I have test drove a few EVs but nothing was worthwhile except for the Kona Electric. Has the range but lacks any refinement whatsoever...hoping for much more from the Tesla.
I live in Ottawa, I think you have me sold on getting a 3. Great to hear a local perspective. I believe you work in a school like me, best of luck with the start on the school year (stay safe everyone).
Haha nice! You won’t regret man. If you want to go for a test drive let me know with mask let me know. Always happy to show off the car and let people get the feel of it. :) stay safe 👍
We are seeing temperatures between -25*C and -32*C at the moment. If you are unfortunate enough to not have a heated garage at home or work, a couple people I know are seeing over 50% drop in range.
In Quebec you get 5k federal + 8k provincial incentives for the SR+. It translates to 27k CAD less than the LR after taxes. A no brainer for someone living in the city. I've got mine for a month now, drive everyday, and never used more than 15% battery.
Great review! So looking forward to taking delivery of my Model Y in November 2020. I also live in Southern Ontario and I hear what you're saying about "Range is king" because in Winter, I think your range is reduced by 30-40%. Also, there is no question I will be purchasing snow tires. Gotta have them. But like you, my Model Y would be parked inside a garage most of the time. So, hopefully, range loss won't be as bad. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts on your Model 3 SR+.
Stephen Rudberg thank you so much for the kind words. You must be so exited and time must feel so slow for you. I only had to wait 4 weeks for my M3 after I bought it so I can only image the long wait for your Y. Let me know you thought when you get it. Btw garage to garage you won’t come close to losing 40% range in the winters unless you go for a road trip.
@@TeslaCanadianDad , thanks. Yes. The waiting is very hard. I ordered the car in mid-July thinking it would take 6 weeks or longer but they had the car available in 2 weeks! Unfortunately inhad to decline as it was too early since i still have a Lease on another vehicle till December but came to an understanding with my wife I would get the car in November. So the waiting is hard but since there have been some quality control issues with Model y hoping by November many of the problems will have been resolved. Cheers!
Quite excellent Michel. Answered many of my questions and I even recognised the location as you were driving. My only questions left revolve around pricing out charging and the installation of charging stations in a condo. Thank you.
@@TeslaCanadianDad Many thanks Michel. Once a month I drive to Georgetown ON, a distance of 423km on Hwy 7 and 407 at an average speed of 94km/hr so I have been wondering what is your experience of driving on the 416 or Queensway at 120km/hr and energy usage. Say in Spring. Also do you experience a lot of heat through the glass roof.
I have to ask. Where did you get Michel? Lol. As for your question, the faster you go in an EV the more energy you use unlike gasoline cars. You won’t get there on one charge going 120km/hr unless you get the long range. But a quick stop in either Belleville or Kingston to top you up and get a coffee shouldn’t be longer than a 20 min stop.
@@TeslaCanadianDad I am not sure where Michel came from. You look more Italian to me. I tend not to use the 416/401 as the distance is further still and there are too many crazies on that road. I am planning on a Model 3 LR awd. A relation in the UK has a 2020 M3 and complained that he was getting too hot as his head almost touched the glass roof. I wondered if you experience the heat during summer. I doubt if it will get much warmer today with -17c
Absolutely stellar and thorough review. I used to live in Michigan where it had all the seasons but now I live in California. Your reasoning is on point and I highly recommend this car in 4 season climate locations :D
Thanks Jay. Really appreciate the awesome comment. Which we had California temperatures around here year round lol. ☀️ can’t say i love the cold winters. ;) but my M3 handles like a champ in snow.
Great video! I have a 2020 model 3sr and live in prince Edward county. I have been commuting with this car for a year now (Kingston 90km one way) and love it. With that said I should have opted for the LR because I get serious range anxiety when the weather drops below -5.
Excellent video,,, you mentioned the PlugShare App, folks don't forget about other EV owners that shares their charging system at their own homes if you require in emergency situations for FREE,,, Gas stations won't do that! Thank you for those people that shares their charging system.
I come from a 2017 Audi A4 and I am a little worried about the winter rear wheel drive and the reported rattle noises. I will watch your other video for the first issue and try to rent a model 3 for a weekend for the second before I commit. Great video!!
Thanks for the kind words. I’ve had no issues so far with my model 3 minus that stress back window crack. Loving it summer winter fall spring. 365 days a year. Wouldn’t buy anything else but a Tesla these days. 😀👍
Good review and very insightful. Only thing I don't agree with is that FSD would be worth over $200 per month or $10k when bought outright. All the hardware is there. And the software should be scalable. Hardly anyone gets it now, whereas if it were $3,500, many more would get it. That would probably result in more total revenue and more cars contributing to the learning curve.
Great video .... loved your sincerity. I am waiting for my M3 and it WILL have the heat pump. Very excited! Thank you for confirming everything I have researched about this car 👍🏻🇨🇦
Really appreciate the very kind comment. I’m sure your super exited about your new M3 coming!! The wait is the hardest part but so worth it! You will love it! 😀
19” tires are the WORST. I have them on my MB and they are nothing but trouble. Plan to buy the Model 3 soon and going with the 18” tires. Great review 🙂
Great video. The more I watch your videos, the more I’m thinking of getting a Tesla as my very first brand new car/suv. I would like a 7 passenger. Keep doing these great videos. As you said, what other car gets better after buying it... 😁
Well done Video, enjoyed the video as a fellow Canadian. Really thinking of buying a TESLA ... test driving the Model Y this week . Heat Pump needs to be part of the car I think for winter.
Thanks a lot for this video. Will get my model 3 in a week and after seeing every youtuber have at least the long range version (or even the performance version) I got a little worried
Very good stuff! Thanks. I was having a little of anxiety after buying it a few days ago, but hopefully with heat pump and slightly improved range it won't be as bad. I wish it was like in Quebec, affording Long Range would be a lot easier. Ontario sucks for incentives.
First class video, thanks. I have the LR, but this was a really useful bits of information in there, here are some of my thoughts to add. 1) Range anxiety is not the problem, it is charging payment/charging facility problem. In the UK we don't have many Tesla superchargers, so a road trip requires you to use non-tesla chargers - and the payment system here is an utter shit-show - you require some 20 apps/key-fobs to use them all, you need 10 minutes to work out how to use them - then they don't work. Non-Tesla chargers are unreliable, not-maintained utter stupid payment systems and very expensive. Ionity here costs twice that of petrol (gas) per mile, compare that with my home electric which is just 10% of the cost of petrol (gas)/mile. 2) Squeaks - not experience that, in fact my wife asked me about a small noise, I said it was the book on her lap rubbing on the dash board. Mine is really well put together, did I get lucky, don't know - but Tesla on the model 3 are getting it right on fit and finish - no sounds at all from the fit and finish. 3) You did say, and I agree, if you don't like a Tesla or think it is not right for you - just drive it. I was going to get the e-Nero, but then I test drove the Tesla, and it broke me. What i would say is if you cannot afford it (yes it is expensive), don't drive one - it will destroy you.
Great info, I haven’t looked much at the charging infrastructure in Europe. Is it at least getting any better? Do you see more and more Tesla superchargers? Thank you again for the kind words. Means a lot.
@@TeslaCanadianDad Tesla is doing most of its expansion in China since this where its sales have taken off. There are some chargers being built at this time but the map is fairly static at this time. Like most EV drivers I charge at home except for a couple of trips a year (holiday). For example, in 3 weeks I will travel to the east of UK, and there are no super-chargers in the entire area and a small number of Tesla destination chargers that are restricted as patrons of the service provider.
Thanks for the kind words. One day one day I’ll have a performance model. I can only image the smiles 😀 hope your loving your M3 as much as me. Maybe even more with that extra acceleration boost
FYI: accidents are a lot less likely on motorways and autopilot mainly used on those roads... so take the statistics with a grain of salt. BTW i literally just ordered a model 3 (Norway) !!! :D
Tks for the Cdn perspective. But Imho if you’re not going to spring for the higher models in a colder climate, I wouldn’t bother with a Tesla for a daily. The way I see it, Model 3 Performance is the same price as a BMW 340 but you get even better performance than an M3 and you save $5000 a year on gas… so it’s still a tremendous value. You also have to differentiate between Auto Pilot (a lot of manufacturers have that perfected) and Full Self Driving, which is extremely sketchy. Totally agree with the wheels though, I wish there was a smaller wheel choice for Performance models.
It's so annoying that there's no heat pump. Temperatures drop down to almost -30 in my area, and range anxiety is only a thing for me in the winter. My friends with VW E-Golfs and Nissan Leafs have the same range in the winter as a Model 3 SR+, but the Tesla nearly double in the summer.
I have noticed you dont have mud-guards (is that what they are called in Canada - they fit at the back the wheel arch and keep the kicked up wheel debris from hitting the underside and sides of the car - they also prevent spray for other drivers). Have you noticed any paint damage on the wheel arch behind the wheels, especially in Canada that uses lots of salt on the roads. I paid £50 extra to get mine with Tesla fitted mud guards, but there are lots of after market ones.
Ya we got them for free here in Canada but i didn’t install them yet. I personally don’t love the look and I haven’t noticed any damage to the paint yet. I might install them down the Road. Not sure yet.
Excellent and informative! You mentioned that you have kids but the white seats are still not a problem. You didn’t mention how old they are, but wondering what age/stage would you recommend would be OK for kids with white seats. I have twin boys currently in rear-facing and I’m currently very glad I have black seats, lol.
Haha. Ya, I get that. My youngest is 4 years old and she’s a bit messy. Like I said I would be afraid of the white seats if you don’t mind wiping them down once in a while. It’s up to you. I would still get them if I had a new born lol. They just look so nice. Everyone told me I would regret it but I so don’t!! Lol. Thank you so much for the kind words too. Means a lot. Lot of time was put in to the video so happy he’s been so well received. Comments like these go a long way. Let me know if you have any other questions. I’m here to help. Talking Tesla and hockey never gets old 😀
Question. I am considering the sr+ I have a 100km commute one way, all hwy driving averaging 85 to 100kmh. So 200km per day. Will the Sr plus handle this commute in Canada without needing charging, even considering a cold Canadian winter day? Great video
@@TeslaCanadianDad that's great. Thanks for the quick reply. Just stumbled on your channel. Very good videos with useful info. I grew up in Ottawa and live in the Valley now, so your winter driving vids are a great reference. I thought the sr plus would be horrible in the Canadian winter and couldn't afford the dual motor. So this give me hope of a tesla in the near future. Thank again
@@stevebrunke5003 thanks 😀. You won’t regret buying a Tesla. Only down side is people in your life might get annoyed of you always talking about it lol.
The video is super well made. I'm happy to see a review for Ottawa as I also live here. I'd just suggest maybe finding a new microphone.. in this video sometimes it's hard to hear or understand what you are saying, it sounds a bit muffled
I find it a none issue to be honest. It handles great. I have a video where i go into more detail about RWD vs AWD here: ua-cam.com/video/8VoqWYu2glw/v-deo.html. Thank you so much for watching and your comment. 😀👍
Are the winters an absolute necessity? I’m outside the NYC area and the roads here get plowed pretty quickly. But it’s not uncommon to deal with a 2-3” here and there, nothing crazy.
I haven’t tested my summer tires with any type of snow on the ground. Wish I could help but no experience in that situation. I know it sucks buying winter tires but you might feel safer having them on. If you end up not getting some. Let me know how the summer tires are in light snow.
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD Oh there’s no chance I would run actual summers. I was hoping to get the all weathers (have the mountain symbol on them but can be run all year!) or at worst regular all seasons. Thanks, I will see if I can see if I can find some reviews on Tire Rack!
Hi Mike, Good all round user review. Can you speak about your experience about rust protection need for your Tesla. Did you do any or is it all required in especially in cold weather areas which uses salt and sand. there is lot report about premature rusting and sand retention in the under body area for tesla 3. Thanks in advance.
I haven’t spent any money on rust protection or any protection so far for my M3 actually. I intend to wrap it at some point in the future. I’ve had it for 15 months now and have had no issues with rust or paint chips. That’s my situation anyways. I’ve also heard so different stories from other model 3 owners online but I can only speak from my experiences.
watching this video after the price drop. the self driving feature is noticeable cheaper, well, the entire car is few thousand $ cheaper. not jar dropping but still cheaper
Awesome video, I’m glad I went through with it and got the SR+. Did you find a solution for the seatbelt wear/stains on the white seats? I also ordered white seats and I’m wondering what I can do to prevent it or fix future problems with them.
I didn't and apparently from information from Ryan Mccaffrey's detailer, there's nothing to FIX as it wears down the seats. You can potentially prevent it by adding some sort of seatbelt covers. Doesn't have to be as big as the one I got. Saw some on amazon that are pretty settle that would slide on the fake leather and wouldn't ruin the seats.
Thanks to you Tesla Canadian Dad... I bought SR+ as you suggested and saved 10k and you are right it performs very well in winter and snow (with winter tires) not missing the all wheel drive . Great channel! Keep it up 👍🏽
Thanks Arun. I really appreciate that. Really happy your loving your repas as much as I love mine. Went out in a snow drive. Still handles like a champ.
Don’t forget to flush the brake fluid yearly. And why in the world would you buy the standard range plus with FSD, instead of getting the long range without it, and just be happy with autopilot?
Your in BC. Not the same here in Ontario. Should of mentioned that in the video. Quebec gets 13k Rebate, BC gets 8k Rebate and rest of the country gets 5K.
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD My first. The first time I even *touched* an electric was at a test drive event on Sat when my wife and I drove the 3 and Y. Dang are they something else. Probably going to get her in a 3SR+. I did the math on cost of ownership and it’s a no brainer. She can get hers for about $250 more per month than the paid off Mazda she’s burning a ton of gas in now. Mostly thanks to our credit union (Vancity) that has a wicked EV loan. 3.45% for 10y, no penalties for early payments (though at that price, I’m better off investing than paying down early). So excited for Friday when we pick up Luna the Electric Moonbeast ⚡️ (MSM + Inductions).
C T amazing. Happy for you. Hoping to get my wife in a Tesla sooner rather than later too. I’ll feel so much better knowing my girls are in a safe car at all times. Let me know how your delivery goes. I’m always curious. Specially with the model Ys. :)
I personally have plans to keep it for as many years as I can and purchased FSD on it so leasing wouldn’t be a smart inversement IMO. However if you were thinking short term and no FSD it would make sense. Also leasing wasn’t even an option here in Canada when I purchased my M3. 👍
Hi from Germany. Have you found any rost at your M3 so far ? I believe there is a lot of salt on street in winter in Canada and i heard protection for it is poor on M3
HeinerPetra hi from across the world :). I haven’t had any rust issues as of today. I take the car in touch-less car wash twice a week (we have every day pass here and share with family members) which helps clean under the car. (Jet spraying under the car.) so the short answer is no rust. And hopefully will stay that way :)
hello i live in indiana, no issues driving a rwd car, my concern is the range, i travel 150 to 160 per day, a mix of city driving, country raod, highway/freeway driving. will a model 3 standard range enough for me? thank you
@@TeslaCanadianDad thanks. because ive been getting conflicting reports that it might be cutting it too close. and i would like to avoid spending 10 thousand dollars more on a long range, since i will be putting a lot of miles on this car 10 to 160 miles per day
@jay who if you had winters and very cold weather it Would be an issue because you don’t really get cold temperatures you should be able to drive that much every day no problem
I sure did, ART REPLICA - R171. Video about it here: ua-cam.com/video/76HXT7v3Sng/v-deo.html Must have if you ask me. Even though the RWD is way better handling in winter season then I expected, Winter tires are always a must here in Ottawa. (So much snow)
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD ok makes sense so you use the aftermarket rims for the summer and kept the stock for winter ? I was told you can’t go lower then 18” for winter, is that true ?
Hey, excellent video And I need your advice, I’ve placed an order for SR+ model 3, I live in Toronto and commute about 120-150kms a day. I saw some videos of SR+ sliding in the snow and you know how Canadian winter is, so now am having second thoughts and thinking to change to AWD. Would you say SR+ is safe and enough range for me specially in winter?
If you can afford Long Range AWD then go for it for sure. But.... I wouldn’t be afraid to buy a RWD to be honest. I’ve had 0 issues here in Ottawa (plenty of snow) as long as you put on winter tires. As for the range you would have plenty even on the worst days. Would it get close to 30% maybe on the bad winter days but you would have plenty 99% of the time. You can check out my video testing the AWD in snow here: ua-cam.com/video/8VoqWYu2glw/v-deo.html Thank you for the kind words.
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD you’re awesome and thanks for the prompt reply. One more thing I can only park outside you think that will greatly affect my range on winter?, Ottawa and Toronto have almost similar winters I believe.
Mina Hanna from what I’ve heard your winters a more mild then us.can be pretty cold here on some days. Like -35 on some bad days. As for parking outside it will affect your range for sure. i only lose 20% range because i park inside both at work and home but some people lose close to 40% on really cold days because they park outside. Either way alway setup pre-heat for 15 minutes before you leave in the morning in winter season using an app like Stats (apple and android) helps a tone to reduce range loss.
Hey Tesla Canadian Dad TCD, have another question if you don’t mind; I see you have a family of 4; does the model 3 work as a family car or do you find it a struggle to carry luggage and say a stroller in the trunk? Did you ever struggle with the space to take your family on a road trip? Or the model Y makes much more sense (I like the 3 way more)
We’ve had no issues with storage space. I just used my M3 to pick up a mattress yesterday. Some people have fit a 65” TV in the trunk with the seats down. Back to your question, would I buy the Y for extra storage for myself no, like you I like the 3 more. Do I intend to get the Y for my wife down the road yes, she wants more of an SUV, less for extra space and just be bigger on the road. She’s driving a tiny car right now and is tired of feeling small on the road. Silly reason I know but she hey. That’s her reason for wanting a bigger car. Or and her car is brutal in the winter so for her the more weight the better (more traction).
Thanks for the nice comment. As for the music, it hides the annoying echo of filming in a house that isn’t built for filming vs a real studio or room is made for sound. My hope one day I’ll be able to make crisp audio where the only thing you hear is my beautiful voice 😂😉
Quality is not all that . When you buy a new car and the paint is trash the only infotainment screen cuts out at 70 mph and it leaks in the trunk area. That says alot about quality control. This is a problem with many Tesla 3 vehicles including the one I had and got rid of. I will wait until they get it right
@@TeslaCanadianDad I am "worrier" because I saw a youtuber who let his car outside during a winter night and his battery was being used to keep itself warm. I don't know if he turned the heat or if the car was keeping the battery "warm" overnight, but his battery was used few % and that's a problem, when you come back from vacation and your car doesn't start because it drained all its battery. I hope you, as someone owning a tesla, can enlighten me here if I am wrong
@@TeslaCanadianDad the problem is, where should I leave it plugged in? I have no garage. I can't occupy the only parking lot in the neighborhood with a charger for 2 weeks, or I will get a fine that will cost as much as 4 new tires with rims

Just the video I wanted, you answered every question I had, and I have to say: I’M BUYING A TESLA.
Thanks for the kind words and for watch. And I’m so happy i could help. You so won’t regret it!!!! 😀😁
I just bouth a used tesla 3 and I am also from Canada (cold Calgary) and found your channel. What a nice channel. Thank you!
What a nice comment. Thank you. Currently on vacation and you made my day even better. Much appreciated.
Great video, perfect for us Canadians who have questions that need answers.
Really appreciate it. Thank you for watching and specially the kind comments. means a lot
Your content is underrated! Perfect video for me - have been researching for hours if SR+ will handle 190km daily commute in Norway during winter. You gave me the final confidence to order one! Great content & love how you present it!
Thanks man. Really appreciate it. Nice comment to wake up too. Enjoy your new baby when you get it. 😀😀😀
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD super excited. It says 7-11 weeks so I’m anxious. But glad I’m finally getting rid of my gas guzzler for it.
Andrew Duong crazy how many they are selling now. I only waited 6 weeks a year ago. 11 weeks must be what torture feels like lol. Jk
Older drivers like myself would appreciate it if you did a video for senior citizens owning and driving a Tesla as to no need to gas-up, ingress/egress, driving in all weather road conditions, visual outward views, any issues with learning/understanding the complexity of the single monitor, lack of buttons for those experience arthritis, etc. thanks.
Maybe late to the party but loved your review. Definitely put me to ease since i ordered SR+ Blue/ white. Thanks man
Really appreciate the kind words even if the video is a bit older, it’s still completely relevant and stand by it. You’ll love your new tesla. 😀
Amazing video man! Watched it in full. Cheers from Los Angeles where we don't have winter season 👋🏻
You lucky man!!! Winter sucks lol. Thanks the kind words. Really appreciate it. Enjoy the great weather year round :) #justABitJelous ;)
Good video! The only problem with charging a Tesla in my area and maybe in other parts of Northern California is some of the chargers Tesla superchargers and other types of chargers is that some become inoperable and are not fixed for long periods of time!
That sucks. Chargers around here aren’t down for very long when they do go down. More reliability would is needed either way.
this looks better!
If they get the range up to 800-1,000kms that would be much better…
My Honda CRV gets me through an 8-hour trip for about 3 minutes of stopping for gas, so the stops would also need to be close to other amenities that are walkable within 10 minutes but at least it is becoming more realistic
Love the inclusion of your kids enjoying the acceleration.
I don't own a Tesla yet but when I go out with my friends and they zip it around, I love my body forced against the seat as the Model 3 accelerates!!
Always puts a nice big smile on my face :D
Liked and subscribed within 5 minutes of video. One of the best reviews I’ve seen.
Wow. Really appreciate that awesome comment. Let me know if you have any questions about your future Tesla 😀
"North might be a problem"
As someone in northern Alberta...
I’m getting the Tesla model 3 because of this video.
You won’t regret it 😀
The 19 and 20" wheels lower your range over the 18" wheels because of two reasons: (1) Tires are performance summer only and provide more traction and will wear out faster.
Great info. Thank you
Totally loved your video!
@@TeslaCanadianDad Certainly! Thanks!
It’s still a big price difference. Have you driven the 3 yet? Thank you for the kind words :). Means a lot.
@@TeslaCanadianDad I actually have not, but I'm sure it's fine. The Y just felt boring and stiff to me. I am sure I will fall in love with a tesla, just not sure I will at 80K.
@@NoahFlemingConsulting I'm in Barrie. 32k on my SR+, up and down hwy 400 since 08/19. Zero regrets.
@@SherlocckHolmez Thank you. Winter tires, etc.
@@NoahFlemingConsulting Yup. 18" winters, 20min pre-heat for the battery, 65km commute. total winter efficiency loss was 19%.
MonsieurLabbe won’t be a problem. Hope your loving driving it as much as me. :)
TCD Absolutely love it
I have the same 142km distance commute in Toronto area . I already did one winter with my 2019 SR+. No issues at all with winter tires.
Awesome to hear they fixed both for you under warranty. Hello from across the pound 😀
Bill Plaschka have fun test driving it. I hope you love it. I did for sure.
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD you are very kind
We are seeing temperatures between -25*C and -32*C at the moment. If you are unfortunate enough to not have a heated garage at home or work, a couple people I know are seeing over 50% drop in range.
In Quebec you get 5k federal + 8k provincial incentives for the SR+. It translates to 27k CAD less than the LR after taxes. A no brainer for someone living in the city. I've got mine for a month now, drive everyday, and never used more than 15% battery.
It’s a crazy great deal in Quebec for sure. Wish every province also did the extra 8k.
Thank you.
Not sure how it would work to install a 240v outlet at a condo to be honest. As for my electrical bill, it’s went up about 20$ a month.
I’ve never felt the top window caused any excessive heat personally. 0 complaints there.
I have yet have someone use mine but I’m pretty uncommon area. Maybe one day. Thanks for the kind words.
Excellent review. I think with the incentives we get in Canada the SR+ is really a no brainer.
Thanks man. Appreciate that. And I agree it’s a no brainer for sure!
19” tires are the WORST. I have them on my MB and they are nothing but trouble. Plan to buy the Model 3 soon and going with the 18” tires. Great review 🙂
Thanks 😊 you’ll love it. Let me know if you have any questions. Love talking Tesla as you can see 😃
Great video. The more I watch your videos, the more I’m thinking of getting a Tesla as my very first brand new car/suv. I would like a 7 passenger. Keep doing these great videos.

Merci, for the kind words :) can't wait to see you Model Y 7 seater ;)
Well done Video, enjoyed the video as a fellow Canadian. Really thinking of buying a TESLA ... test driving the Model Y this week . Heat Pump needs to be part of the car I think for winter.

Really really nice edit on this one, learned some cool stuff I didnt know about. Keep it up.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the support and awesome feedback :D
Thanks a lot for this video. Will get my model 3 in a week and after seeing every youtuber have at least the long range version (or even the performance version) I got a little worried

Really appreciate that. Always feels amazing reading comment like this one. Thank you. And thank you for watching 😀 Hi from 2 hours away too
Very good stuff! Thanks. I was having a little of anxiety after buying it a few days ago, but hopefully with heat pump and slightly improved range it won't be as bad. I wish it was like in Quebec, affording Long Range would be a lot easier. Ontario sucks for incentives.
Glad I could help you feel better. You will love it for sure! congrats on your purchase. 😀👍
@@TeslaCanadianDad Thanks a lot. I’ve seen some of your other videos. All have been very useful!
Appreciate the kind words. Thank you.
Great video, i have model 3 performance with 18” wheels and love it
Thanks for the kind words. One day one day I’ll have a performance model. I can only image the smiles 😀 hope your loving your M3 as much as me. Maybe even more with that extra acceleration boost
I like your graphics and green screen and video making techniques !
Appreciate that. Thanks man. Thanks for the support.
FYI: accidents are a lot less likely on motorways and autopilot mainly used on those roads... so take the statistics with a grain of salt.

What an awsome video and so in detail . Thanks 😁👌
Thanks. Really appreciate that. Hope it helps.
Great information and presentation!
Thanks Martin. Really appreciate that. 😀
I respectfully disagree. I have 0 issues using this car for my every day daily commute. I appreciate the passion and thank you for watching.
Very nice video very well informed but I don’t have to worry about winter I live in Florida🌞👍🏻👍🏻⚡️
Thanks. Wish I didn’t have to worry about winter either lol ☀️
Let's hope they add them to the model 3 and announce the addition to the model 3 on September 22 on battery day. We will see.
Great video, thank you. It gives me much better perspective on standard range model 3. :)
Really appreciate the very kind comment. Thank you for watching and I’m sure you will love your future Tesla 😉😀🎉
Excellent and informative! You mentioned that you have kids but the white seats are still not a problem. You didn’t mention how old they are, but wondering what age/stage would you recommend would be OK for kids with white seats.
I am sitting on the fence to buy a Model 3. Thank you
I haven’t spent any money on rust protection or any protection so far for my M3 actually.

@@TeslaCanadianDad Oh shame about that. Any chance you could share the link for the other seatbelt covers you saw that slide on?

so if I'm not mistaken, they did install an heat pump in the 2021 M3 ?
That is correct.
@@TeslaCanadianDad good! I ordered one yesterday. Should arrive in April!
Beautiful car what rims are those ? Black premium 19” ?
They are 18” wheels.

I might starting to drive to work in Cornwall. 94km each way but he hospital offers free charging for employees. Do you think I will be fine.
For sure. 100%. You’ll be more than fine.
@@TeslaCanadianDad Thank you
The SR+ is actually $20k 🇨🇦 less than the Long Range! (Edit: In BC!)
Base price of LR is $64,990.
SR+ is $52,990 - $8k rebates = $44,990
Your in BC. Not the same here in Ontario. Should of mentioned that in the video. Quebec gets 13k Rebate, BC gets 8k Rebate and rest of the country gets 5K.
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD Of course! 🤦♂️
I wish the rebates had been available on my Y that I’m picking up on Friday!
C T your first Tesla? Man even if it’s not. I’m sure your super exited!!!!
TCD to get your timestamp to work you need to start with 00:00 Hope this helps. Great channel, subed.
Seems to work just fine on my end. You talking about in the description of the video right? Thanks for the kind words too :)
@@TeslaCanadianDad Your description is fine, but the separation in the video scroll line right above the play button.
have you ever considered leasing a tesla? sounds more reasonable to me ... which one do you think is better?
I personally have plans to keep it for as many years as I can and purchased FSD on it so leasing wouldn’t be a smart inversement IMO. However if you were thinking short term and no FSD it would make sense. Also leasing wasn’t even an option here in Canada when I purchased my M3. 👍
@@TeslaCanadianDad you're right, leasing wasn't available for a long time...
anyways, hope you enjoy the ride ;)
Im good saving 18g with the sr+. Keybeckers tho and their 8g provincial rebates.. So jealous
Haha man. That rebate makes it crazy not to buy a Tesla right?!!!!
@@TeslaCanadianDad for sure. And If people commute more than 50km 1way. It's a no brainer to buy the tesla.
Subbed. Nice presentation.
Adithya Chennamadhavuni thank you for the sub and the kind words. Really appreciate it.
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD thanks
Good video cant wait for my car
Thanks 😊 you’ll love it!! 😀
@@TeslaCanadianDad I will enjoy not spending over $600 /mo in gas I drive 100 plus miles a day In a 95 jeep with 312k miles.
Oh wow. Ya man. For sure!! Hahaha what model are you getting?
@@TeslaCanadianDad M3 long range at least, I have been seeing in-stock proformance for 55k they dont last long
hello i live in indiana, no issues driving a rwd car, my concern is the range, i travel 150 to 160 per day, a mix of city driving, country raod, highway/freeway driving. will a model 3 standard range enough for me? thank you
Yes. The SR+ has enough range for that. No problem
What are you thoughts for winter tires? Did you get separate 18” rims for the winter ?
I sure did, ART REPLICA - R171. Video about it here: ua-cam.com/video/76HXT7v3Sng/v-deo.html Must have if you ask me. Even though the RWD is way better handling in winter season then I expected, Winter tires are always a must here in Ottawa. (So much snow)
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD ok makes sense so you use the aftermarket rims for the summer and kept the stock for winter ? I was told you can’t go lower then 18” for winter, is that true ?
Someone tested tens and tens of 17” rims and only one or two cleared the brakes. Not sure i would go that route personally but to each there own.
Never been a car guy and he has a car shrine in his living room lol
Love that you think it’s real 😉
@@TeslaCanadianDad Haha good job with the green screen.
The 2021s have the heat pump now :)
Love it.
You can check out my video testing the AWD in snow here: ua-cam.com/video/8VoqWYu2glw/v-deo.html
Thank you for the kind words.
Good information, but flows better at 2x speed
haha thanks, i think.... lol i get annoyed at listening to my voice too ;)
Good video. Wish you had skipped the unnecessary background music though. 👍
Thanks for the nice comment. As for the music, it hides the annoying echo of filming in a house that isn’t built for filming vs a real studio or room is made for sound.
My hope one day I’ll be able to make crisp audio where the only thing you hear is my beautiful voice 😂😉
@@TeslaCanadianDad For sure your voice is good. Subbed so you can reach your goals. 😉
Tesla is actually putting the heat pump into all new model 3's
That was great news for sure
Hey TCD ..... if you were to do it all over, would you buy or lease your SR Plus?
Buy!! For sure buy. Specially since i also bought Full Self Driving package. Thank you so much for watching and you comment.
Tesla Canadian Dad TCD - getting closer to a buy decision. Can you share your ref code.
David Chapman huge congrats and so kind of you to use my referral link. Don’t be shy if you have any other questions. ts.la/michel75529

David Chapman Amazing. The next few weeks will feel so long but so worth it I promise. So kind of you to use my referral code. Thank you. 😀👍
Quality is not all that . When you buy a new car and the paint is trash the only infotainment screen cuts out at 70 mph and it leaks in the trunk area. That says alot about quality control. This is a problem with many Tesla 3 vehicles including the one I had and got rid of. I will wait until they get it right
Great video..... background music is extremely annoying
Were you using headphones? Just curious
hmm... so, it becomes a problem during winter if you have no garage
Depends how much you drive in the winter. Less than 200km on average? If so you’ll be fine.
@@TeslaCanadianDad I am "worrier" because I saw a youtuber who let his car outside during a winter night and his battery was being used to keep itself warm. I don't know if he turned the heat or if the car was keeping the battery "warm" overnight, but his battery was used few %
and that's a problem, when you come back from vacation and your car doesn't start because it drained all its battery.
I hope you, as someone owning a tesla, can enlighten me here if I am wrong
@@arianitonline8748 why wouldn’t you plug your car in before you leave for your trip? Leave it plugged in while your gone. Problem solved
@@TeslaCanadianDad the problem is, where should I leave it plugged in? I have no garage. I can't occupy the only parking lot in the neighborhood with a charger for 2 weeks, or I will get a fine that will cost as much as 4 new tires with rims
