It's been a while. That bike is long gone. I think I crushed it so it doesn't push out extra oil. When you fill it with nitrogen it goes back to its full size. Now in days I don't bother with the bladders, and just run the oem plunger that conws with the shocks. Works well enough without issues.
Great video. I think I lost my Schrader valve while changing my fluid. Is that an aftermarket shrader valve that you have on yours? I can't find the part to order
Thnas for video ! A real life video, we need more like that !!!! How much oil is needed and which W kind. I saw they are selling gold price " shock oil". Is it not same as forks ? ;)
Great video, thanks for posting. Question for you, should the top bearing (where it mounts to the frame) spin freely? I just pulled my shock and not sure if I've got a worn bearing.
Thanks Brad, It should move but without too much play. Hard to explain, but it’s likely worn. A new bearing will have a bit of drag when being spun, and no play. They either seize up due to lack of grease, or get worn out and have play. The betas are notorious for their lower linkage bearings wearing early due to moisture. Keep an eye on it. On my current linkage bike, I service the linkage every 40 hrs. SA bearings every 100. That way they stay free and functional.
@@otmuppet Thanks for replying! Yeah my beta linkage had a bearing turn to rust which is why I'm in it tearing things apart. Mostly my fault since I wasn't on top of maintenance. Had a wheel bearing go out last year too but I also ride a lot of wet conditions with stream crossings here in E Idaho. I should be more careful with the pressure sprayer too. I guess I better replace the upper shock bearing just to play it safe.
@@robotmanx2009 makes sense. Stick to the 40 hr rule for the linkage and you’ll be good to go. We’re in the wet 8 months out of the year, but with plenty of grease zero issues flic.kr/p/2n3iF8N
If you need to unthread the original reservoir you. Need a pin tool and loads of heat. Personally I’m not a fan of bladders. For the everyday user you’re better off staying with the piston and doing oil every 150 hrs.
Thanks Chris. Good question. I might of had a leak. I'll do another vid on the next rebuild and see what the pressure is. Shock didn't feel bad prior to the re build
I'm curious why you crushed the bladder before install, doesn't that reduce it's effective volume and make the pressure spike more on compression?

Thanks! I have to watch my own vid, as I don't remember what I used on the Beta.
It's long gone at this point
So watched my own vid. That was a valve body I installed on the body. It takes a regular schrader valve

Definitely not the same. I’ve made the same mistake before. Volume is Usually less than half a liter, but since it’s a messy job it takes more.

Great vid!
Any special tools to extract the piston to replace it with the bladder?
Thanks

Great video 👍🏼 the 90 psi at the start , should that of been 170 psi ?

Great job on the vid, very helpful. Was that a Lanier compression valve?
On the bladder? Just a regular schradder valve
@@otmuppet he's talking about your compression valve that you adjust your low speed clicker on
But is it good for the company?
sorry for the late reply. Had a meeting with the Bobs
Pretty good video!
I do all my best work half cut, lols...I've been improving my shock rebuilds. Will do one for a WP set up this winter
