@@garrettjai91 the dongle only sticikies your abs/tc settings. If you buy the whole kit from him, he will code it in so you can get rid of the dongle, but habe the same capability

Check your sag. If you can't set your rebound and compression to minimum, and wind your spring out
Do you think the EX HT( technical Enduro) tire that replaced the 754 is better than the EX MH (enduro tire)? From what I can find the EX HT tire has a softer carcass but green stripe is same compound as green strip EX MH.
I don't know. I'm going to see if I can squeeze a 100 hrs out of both of them. I think it's a name change and nothing else, and a rider of my caliber will likely not notice😂

My bad. 80/100-21. Old one is 90/100-21
@@otmuppet cool, be interested to see what you think with less bump absorbtion but sharper steering. I ran the 90/90 but found mixed results when it hit sharp stuff. Will try the 90/100 to see if i can get some more predictable behaviour.
@Superdisco199 honestly I'm too big of a Muppet to notice. I can see it being a bit slower steering, but we're rarely going quickly. Will report back when I wear this one out
Great tires! Winter riding is different, fun in it's own way
Nice Review! I ran Mitas on my Old Suzuki RM125, really liked how they held up, I am north of you, but moving to Southern Alberta next year so I will have a mix of trail travel! can't wait, I don't ride in the winter, but it is tempting!
i have always run the 190/55 on both of my n1000sx's 14' and 21'. no probls at all. have a yosh alpha slip on and did the 2 wheel dyno works flash. perfection now.
@Tradmark454 agreed. With the 55 with the weakest tc setting it does a bigger wheelie before cutting in. I highly recommend the full black widow headers. A true 140hp to the rear wheel with the flash

@@chaoyin5911 hi from Western Canada!
Hey great videos. Have you installed your second abs ring on the front? Did you have to use different spacers? The small spacer on mine sits deeper in the bore when installed on the other side and the left rotor hits the caliper.
@macind7918 thanks! Yes I did. But I bent the front rim last year and went to a Haan wheel and hub. With oem you will need a custom spacer
It helped me to see and understand the needle kit assembly to refill the correspondante kind of shock (for example a ZX14/ZZR1400's)! Thanks for the video
@@zzrider805 you're welcome
Any faults on the dash with 190/55?
@mssts88 none. In sport mode it brings the front wheel a bit higher before tc cuts in.
@@otmuppet that’s even better. Thanks mate

@@deadcarz4926 nice! Always a good bonus! Happy to help
@@otmuppet Ok, I only have the lowering links that were on the bike(for a ZX14R) and factory ZX14R links. The rear is definitely low. It does have a 190/55. Do you know, by chance the distance between the holes on the factory GTR links?
@deadcarz4926 no sorry. Sold the bike
@@otmuppet Well that's not helpful! 😁
Lols...@@deadcarz4926I went to greener pastures...the Ninja 1000sx is a far better bike.
I traded in my 09 Concours 14 for the 2024 N1k and the only things that Im not keen on is the loss of a center stand and maintaining the chain, other that that the Ninja fits my needs way better than the C14. The performance is very similar, the ride quality is much better, the handling is way better and its looks better. Mine is 100% stock right now other than a Puig windscreen (much better than stock). Im thinking about a Yoshimura slip on, K & N air filter and an ECU flash...thats it! The N1k is an awesome bike. Love it! I really like losing about 180lbs!
@scottmatzeder9162 I do not miss my 08 concours. It was a fast boat. Like you said, way too heavy. imo the Ninja is the perfect sport bike. I have a full black widow exhaust on mine. Really wakes the bike up (the full system will likely cost same as the yosh slip on) It's very well fuelled right out of the box. If you keep your filter stock ( I don't recommend K And N) there's zero need for a flash. 10k km so far with me using it and I love it. BTW.. the black widow exhaust is 1st rate. I'm on my 3rd full system.
Pivot!!! 🤦♂️
@@Chillirider good times FF!

You're welcome! It's been an awesome bike for me. Hope you enjoy it as well
11,000km is not bad for such a soft compound... maybe if you ran the correct width it might have added another few thousand KM to it? Like instead of 7000 miles, 8000-9000 miles? Just a thought.
@adam346 what do you mean? 190 is the correct width. The side profile was bit taller at 55..it makes zero difference. 7300km...not miles! Not that soft of a compound.
@@otmuppet oh, damn. My mistake, I misheard. I am sorry they only lasted that long for you, I have no idea why then... everyone else is talking in miles since most English speakers are either UK or US. I would look into why yours only lasted so long, most people talk in the 7000-9000 miles not km...
@adam346 no worries! No idea. Pressures were correct, and I use the bike as intended, but vary the riding and avoid long straight stretches. It wore evenly, but not impressed with the wear. Got Dunlop RS4s now. Feel vg
What tyre you running on the front? Do you get wobbles at speed with the excel rim?
@stevekemp7140 motoz tractionator. fortnine.ca/en/motoz-tractionator-adventure-front-tire#521=39065 And had a Bridgestone AX41 on before. Static balanced Zero wobbles or issues.
The chain needs to be tensioned before measuring.
How much difference would a tensioned chain make? 2mm? If the chain is not straight then yeah by all means reading will not be correct. The chain on the bench is new, so even if it was tensioned it should read the same.
@@otmuppet On a new chain it won't make much difference, but a worn chain with 20,000 miles will really surprise you. Every owner's manual I've ever had says to tension the chain when measuring chain stretch. I've never measured chain stretch on a new chain. Why would you? My 2009 Triumph Tiger 1050 owner's manual has you hang a 10 kg to 20 kg weight from the bottom of the chain loop (on the bike) and measure 20 pins on the top.
@@MyRp123 fair! I did measure it on my last project bike. It looked in tension but it was shot
If I understood you right you said 5mm for the shim? 11:08 That's really thick. Edit - you must have meant 0.05mm
You're probably right. I got the sheet metal tin somewhere..
I use the friction lock on my 1090 and 701, they work great. I sold my 1090 then ended up buying it back, the only thing that I found close to it was the Desert x. I’m 230 pounds and 6’1”, the suspension is fine for me and I jump mine often. Did the Idaho BDR and some of the Wyoming BDR on this bike. Originally I got this used 3 years ago from a guy in Montana and it had a few issues. It needed a new radiator from a small puncture and a new fuel pump. Here in Wyoming our freeways are 80mph and she just roars down the freeway, so fun. I got a Yoshimura exhaust and whew does she sound bad ass, as well as not burning myself on the stock exhaust. My 701s stock exhaust gave me a scar on my hand from moving it when turning around on a trail. The 890s have had some serious problems according to some shops I frequent. Also they handle extremely well but the wider bottom gives issues if you don’t pay attention.
@gilvietor1918 several of my buddies have 890Rs. Massive oiling issues on one (new head, cams). No thanks. I got electronic cruise on my 1090. Epic. Vid is on the channel! Keep saving that front tire!! Lol
@@otmuppet Ya the 890 problems are so bad the dealer I work with a lot said, "nope I am not selling you a Norden!" He talked about some of the issues and I thought, wow, that must be bad if he is warning me (he's a great dude, I feel bad when I buy a bike at a different dealership). I'll have to check that video out, I'd seen it on some forums and went uhhhh what? My tires are the Anakee Wilds (1090 and 701) they're amazing, but you can't swap direction. HUGE improvement over the TKC's which I have no clue what that tire is good at? Highway? Nope. Gravel? Nope. Sand?! Nope. Windy paved roads? Nope!! Great stuff man, thanks for taking the time to make the content, if you're ever in Wyoming shoot me a message. The South Dakota BDR X is a hoot, lots of amazing food and places to stay on the ride (hotels I mean).

Eh? Trust me, well worth the effort
Very good, don't see how these would be any different on gravel than any road focused tire, the sipes are just wide enough for water removal. That's poor mileage to square off so quick, were you riding 2 u? that's a heavy-ish bike? thanks
It is a street tire no question, just felt better shoulder season (prob. In my head). I ride one up, but quick and tidy. Curb is allegedly 513lb. Not crazy heavy. Tire is still going strong. Just punting it around town. Will get it down to cords and swap the set.
Forgot to mention. It's not squaring off. Wearing very even, just center thread on rear is disappearing quick.

@ionutd84 no worries! I have a Renazco rally seat on mine. Perfect. Loads of room and does not lock.you into one spot
That is sick and exactly what I’m looking for for my 1190. Now, if only someone will find a way to put the 890 right hand switch gear and throttle on so we can run the modern heated grips. The ones without the wire hanging down. I tried the 890 throttle on my 1190 and there’s a micro voltage difference which puts the ECU into limp mode. Poooo.
Nice! It's a good find for sure. I have the KTM grips tied into the ECU. they work a treat
How's the overall road performance and behaviour?
It's a fantastic tire...but...it's wearing very quickly. I'm at the wear bars on the rear at 6500km. I'll post up a quick update vid shortly. I'll be surprised if I get 8k km out of the rear. Front is wearing very well. No cupping/feathering to speak of
Is the rear wearing evenly? Apparently it's an absolute must that the mutants are always running the correct psi to avoid wear issues.
@@7un05 no issues on wear. Very little feathering. Think it was around 33-36 PSI cold
Just what I needed to understand how to take apart the cartridge on my Tuareg - many thanks.
You're very welcome!
Can you elaborate a little on the gear shift support? Never heard of this before. I do sometimes accidentally shift into neutral while riding, does it really help with that?
It's additional support to reduce the flex on the shift shaft. I noticed an improvement for sure. Google race torx. They ship Ww
All Matt black. Make it total bad ass with no accents.
I'll be bad ass regardless! Thinking gun metal for the rims, and Honda yellow
