How To Make The Ball Draw // Malaska Golf

- Mike Malaska shows us how there are three ways to hit a draw.
First, you can set the clubface closed and make your normal swing. That will make the ball draw.
Second, set up, and move the ball back in your stance, making your swing path come more from the inside, which will also make it draw.
Third, you can also swing and turn the face over with your hands to make the ball draw. Your hands can adjust the clubface and make the ball draw.
When you hit a tennis ball with a racket, you can hit it straight or add topspin. Your hands determine what the face does.
Mike learned how to make a draw through his experience pitching in baseball. Mike uses the pressure of his fingers to manipulate the clubface's direction on the ball, just like a baseball pitcher makes when throwing a fastball or a slider.
The critical thing is that you need what works best for you on the range, then take it to the course.
There is no right or wrong way to make the ball draw, fade, or go high or low. Try experimenting on the course and determine which method suits you the best.

This is the first time anyone I respected as teacher of this game, that said “how to do” anything was up to the comfort of the player. Almost always we are told that “THIS” is how you do something which makes it become limiting and more difficult. Thanks for sharing the idea that not one way is necessarily the right way.
Mike is the single best golf instructor I have found. For years I bounced around from a 13 to an 18 handicap. Came across several teachers and stuck with a few for a while. When I discovered Mike I went from a 13 down to an 8 in eight months. He was the first teacher to truly explain the golf swing and allow me to understand why it does what it does.
The man is one of the great ones and I really look forward to personally telling him thanks soon.
This man alone has helped me get to a point where I have fun on a golf course. Ball striking is consistent and has solid trajectory. Drink the Kool-aid my friends, drink it all.
so many light bulbs turned on for me by listening to this guy talk. He speaks my language. Not only that, my body feels natural when using his methods! I haven't been on the course, but in my back yard, I am hitting the ball better than I EVER have...consistently!! Feels so good. Cheers :)
You mention art form Mike & I must the art form is your explanation. Simple feels is what I keep getting from you. Brilliant & something that I can take straight to the driving range & apply. Thanks
Again such a great video, thank you so much! Mike has the gift to explain complex matters in a very clear way, just amazing, he is the best. Hopefully there we be more advice on how to play bunker shots, I really struggle with that. Everything seems so tough in the sand... Thanks once again!
Hi Mike great video, do you have face control drills? trying to figure out how much to close or open the club face. And maybe how to get the feelings in my hands.
Excellent video!
This is such a challenging concept.
Especially with my damage from tbi in the military. I don't think many will actually know
Demonstrating that the club face is in fact the baseball bat and not the shaft makes so much sense. Could body motion also be used to create path?
is there a difference when hittting of the turf as oppose to hittting off a tee ?
I have a question Mike and Happy Easter coming up , my question is when you say it’s a throw I see you come in with your right hand fingers pointed right which I agree and other times you come in with your right handed fingers pointed down which is it? Thanks
Mike, love your content. Polite question. Why do you rarely hit irons off the ground. I would feel like I am cheating to play every shot off a tee?
He said he does that to get the most out of the drill and recommends it when doing drill work/practice.
Mike, that’s not a slider grip, it’s a screwball grip or sinker.
I gave mine a pencil and sent it to art school.
You just gotta rotate your shoulder more and your hips a lil less. Easy
Closing the face is just a hook
Not really
Depends on club path!
lost me at "slider"
