Excellent breakdown! One of the things that has been overlooked the last couple weeks and going into this game is how well the 49ers defense has been playing. Also the 49ers were down 4 RBs that game and had to start a rookie Trey Sermon. They also weren't featuring Samuels in the running game as much as they are now. It should be a great game as I see the 49ers running the ball much more effectively than the 1st meeting giving them a much better chance at the upset at Lambeau.

The best I can do is recognize two high safeties or man, watch for motion as a tip-off to man, and maybe a few other superficial things. But for the most part, broadcasts only show the results of what Brett shows us in his videos. It's why I never miss these videos; they show me how much I did miss when watching the game.

  • @PaulGaither
    @PaulGaither 2 роки тому +1

You will probably mention it, but @ 8:30 as a coach, you WANT your HB in space vs the CB. That is the scheme, getting one of your best ball carriers in space vs their worst tacklers, the CBs. That is why WRs block safeties, not CBs. Mitchell isn't Henry, but HBs should be strong enough to go "beast mode" on a CB with a stiff arm or shoulder charge.
No disrespect to the CB, but if your HB can't beat him, then you don't have a good runner. I know Deebo would laugh off that CB.
Edit: Ah, it was Sermon. That's why. A rookie in week 3. Mitchell will rock that guy's world and score down the sideline if GB tries to play run defense like that again.

Hey Brett. Love the content. The technique that Chauncey Rivers used on the zone split play is called wrong shouldering. We use it at the high school I coach at. Kittle wants his inside shoulder to knock him outside to create a hole, therefore Rivers gives Kittle the “wrong shoulder” to get into the gap. Didn’t know if you had this terminology. You were right that this topic is very meaty. At the same time it the impact of the run fit doing well does force opposing offenses to dig deeper into what else they are good at doing. In the case of the Niners despite having a not-so versatile passing game despite having two of their BnBs that they execute so well being taken away (explosive runs and passes), they still flexed their execution on the quick passing game and it was working out.

As a non-American viewer you've completely changed the way I watch and appreciate America's game, Brett. Thanks for your work.
One thing I'd love to see a video on is how there isn't a holding penalty called on almost every single play and how the officials actually decide to call one. It's one of the most frustrating things about the closest European sport to American Football, rugby, where the officials' interpretation of certain rules can completely change the way a game is played or the whole outcome of a match. To me all those Defensive and Offensive linemen are just holding each other all the time, and don't get me started on pass interference calls and the way that is interpreted.

Great video Brett. This gave me a little insight into something Aaron Rodgers said as it relates to reading a defense pre-snap. He mentioned that he reads the defense pre-snap from the defensive front first, and sometimes doesn't even look at the coverage because the front tells him all he needs to know. I figure that's the complete opposite of what most other QBs do. It still doesn't make much sense to me how that's his process and that it works, but this video gave me something of an idea. He claims that's how his QB coach from early on in his career always taught it.

In my experience, when teams copy a gameplan that worked against the same team the last time and they have won, they loose now (or at least their gameplan fails). Mostly (what I guess is) its because the loosing team puts much more effort in the work after the game and in resolving their errors. The winning team doesn't, of course beacuse the gameplan worked, so no need to fix it. But the next time, the loosing team is prepared (if the coaching is adequatly of course)

Niners have an emerging Elijah Mitchell as well as utilizing Deebo in the backfield means the Niners have way more speed than they did when they were handing off to Juice during the Packers game. The niners fastball is faster, but the Packers also have emerging players that weren't during the last match-up. It's gonna be a great game & I think it'll be within 3 points.

I remember my 1st day of camp in college and we were going through run fits. Most confused I have been in my life up to that point, that was until we installed our 3rd down package with 500 different blitzes

seeing how the vid is titled and how the Kollmann curse works I expect the eventual Super Bowl Champion to win with like 24 rushing yards in the game

Really interesting video Brett. It's kind of fascinating to see the chess game being played out within the run fits and how each team adjusts to one another.

Great video as always the 49ers always match up with GB so well. I expect a high scoring game once again. We’ll see

Redbreast... nice. I need to get me one of them bottles. Oh and the discussion about run fits was insightful too.

Fascinating. Do you happen to have a video explaining the numbered "technique" notation/nomenclature?

Great stuff explaining an important detail of the game Brett.
After the wildcard snooze, this weekend is going to be dynamite with every team being a legit SB contender. Run fits and gap discipline may decide more than one of these games.

Solid choice with the Lusteau. If you're into single pot still Irish whiskies, would highly recommend any of the Spot's if you don't have any. Yellow Spot and especially Blue Spot (although hard to find) are incredible.

When you mentioned the short quick passing game of the 49ers I just had to go and see the charts for the Packers. I was amused.
