Something that was said about Jerry Rice years ago. A team mate was asked what made him so different. After some thought, he replied "Jerry ran his routes against the second guy. Figuring he already had the first beat." Seems you are saying Chase does some of that now.
Funny enough is that when Burrow and Chase were at LSU, they also ran 989 a shit load. The way Ed Orgeron ran it usually was with a chip block from the U and tailback to give Burrow enough time and then they would release to the flats. Seeing them run the same thing at the professional and it working is awesome to see.
I was actually gonna say this. I believe Brett or another YT guy (Alex something) made this observation when Burrow was coming out of college. One of the first things I read as a Bengals Fan was that Zac Taylor was adapting LSUs playbook and asking Burrow for 10 of his favorite plays. I wasn’t sure how running “Duo” (2 boundary verticals) was gonna translate to the League. Tbh, it didn’t till we got Ja’Marr. Zac seemed to have this plan of having dominant boundary WRs for Burrow to throw too. Guys who could win on jump balls (Tee Higgins, AJ Green, Auden Tate) or just 1 on 1 (Ja’Marr Chase and (slot) Tyler Boyd).
@@Strutsss Exactly! Honestly the only thing I was kind of worried about when Joe was coming out was how much Spread they ran at LSU. They ran spread like 90% of the time (typical in college). However they had a top O-Line while doing this (spread is a 5 man protection where everyone has to hold their blocks and be smart when it comes to stunts). Spread is also used to simplify things for QBs. I knew Joe was better at reading post-snap situations compared to Andy Dalton but I just hadn’t seen him go under center enough. Zac Taylor basically said “fuck it, we are gonna run spread too” and ran it at the highest percentage in the league; which led to the O-line being exposed more (especially on 3rd down) and Joe taking a lot more Sack in his first season. Tbh, it probably got Joe hurt but we didn’t have better options because Joe was still getting used to other formation types probably. We still use spread A LOT but we usually have a Shotgun look on 3rd and Long (Samaje Perine @ RB as a dump off; You WILL see this in the Super Bowl - when you see this come back at tell me I was right 😂) meaning Joe had grown in his ability to use other formations. This is a natural step for a year 2 QB but honestly, for someone who only played half his first season he’s ahead of schedule. Spread also works really REALLY well with Sean McVay’s 11 personnel heavy scheme (1 RB 1 TE(11), 3 WR). Zac being a disciple of the scheme uses this a lot. Zac also wanted to come in and use a lot of play action (using the run to set up the pass - Mixon helps with this). A lot of his scheme really depends on a strong technical O-Line and Run Coordinator/OLine coach Frank Pollack has helped immensely with their technique. Haha, sorry about all my rambling; I really love the Bengals. Tbh I wish I knew more about the Defenses scheme because Lou’s Hybrid 4-3/3-4 has made some KILLER halftime adjustments this season. Keep it up, you‘re one of my favorite channels and I really value your opinions on football ✌🏻
Now that the Bengals are in the SB, it started to looks like Tom Brady and the Patriots in 2001. 2nd year in the league QB, with a cool kicker. I think it’s very likely they will take home the SB, against the very same Rams no less.
Well TB officially retired so Joey B might as well start auditioning for new GOAT roles. Good news is Chase is also auditioning for GOAT roles himself. Hey Brett, first off all thanks for all the awesome free content you’re giving us. I always get really excited about your new videos, even though my in-depth knowledge of football isn‘t really the best.
I was wondering if you could ever do a video about reading defenses and offenses in general and the basic defensive and offensive looks. I‘m always so impressed by everyone just basically being able to predict what‘s about to happen based on one look at the field. Just a suggestion from a sometimes confused fan. Keep it up, you‘re one of my favorite channels and I really value your opinions on football ✌🏻
Did you catch his recent video on defensive run fits? I feel like I my understanding of the entire game went up out about 300% in 17 minutes.
I mean what are football kings to football demi...gods? Just sacrificial lambs for slaughter.
BTW if the Bengals believe in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, 2022 is the year of the Tiger.
Love the video. The pause VHS film grain thing really distracts from the content.
Burrow talked about the out to Chase in the postgame presser too
"Chase and all of his sons" I fucking died
"There's only one way to stop the Bengals" : a Brett Kollman video 🤣🤣
NOOOOOOOO, WHY COULDN'T YOU WAIT FOR AFTER THE SUPERBOWL WITH THE CURSE
"And all of his sons"
I'm glad you fully embrace that curses aren't real and still deliver quality content
BENGALS FOOTBALL
So I can see the Chiefs didn’t watch this video
bahahahah
I love how pretty much all of the comments are just people in despair over Brett cursing the bungles. Rip smokin joe, good luck next year.
RIP STANDS FOR REPEAT IN PROGRESS. MEANING MY BENGALS WILL REPEAT AND BEAT THEM...TWICE. AND OFCOURSE WE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL NEXT YEAR. (NO LUCK NEEDED)
Wasn't expecting a 'Family Guy' reference but wasn't disappointed, either.
JOEY BURROW BROKE THE CURSE
Pressure the o line relentlessly
Take Mixon out of the run game too.
LOL with what? Clark and Ingram can't scare the Bengals outside pass pro enough for Chris Jones to consistently break through and clean up. Hell the Raiders had Ngakoue and Crosby giving hell on the outside and the Bengals still did alright because their interior penetration sucks. Only the Titans were able to flatten Joey B that badly and you will see the guys credited for getting sacks were all their inside guys in Simmons and Autry.
@@t4d0W I know Ingram is basically washed. He has had a resurgence though. I'm a Joey burrow fan and hope he can get it done but it should end up a last possession game yet again
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer."
As a chiefs fan, thanks for the video :)
....AND THE CINCINNATI BENGALS ARE HEADED TO SUPERBOWL 56. EXPECT 2 HEAR THAT SOON. YEA YOU GUYS CAN CALL ME THE ''CURSE NEUTRALIZER''
for all the talks about Brett's curse something we need to realize is Brett is without a doubt superbly football intellegent but NFL teams likely have dozens of "Bretts" on the staff. If he can figure it out NFL staff can as well.
What a post birthday gift. Thank u Brett. I know you didn’t know but still fells like perfect timing
This video better not curse the bengals this week lol
"Houston, we have a monster" never forget
Really great analysis.
They needa get my boy a o-line he screaming in the thumbnail 😂
The way to slow down the Bengals is to install stoplights every five yards that stay on red. DO NOT let them turn yellow or they will only speed up.
I wish you touched on the bengals defence!
