Thanks for all the work you're doing! If anyone could take Dr. Ashton's menu to a WILLING doctor, we would have a more compassionate and informed medical profession. Unfortunately, none of my doctors' were willing or interested. That being said, I'm 38 weeks off Klonopin and 21 days off Topamax. Effexor XR to go..... Though my body is rebelling, my brain is more clear and determined than ever. I haven't been out walking in almost 21 days because my legs feel like jelly, but this won't last too long. I feel more focused than ever. I'm not depressed. I still have no one to talk with in person, but I have UA-cam and I'm okay with that. I think of a future without drugs in my body that cloud my thinking - and the future looks so much brighter. I imagine myself a much happier human being and that gives me the resolve to go on from one day to the next. THANK YOU!
You have spades of courage. I know how hard this is but I also look forward to the day when you can enjoy the sunshine and a fine walk. It is coming. Stay strong
TY for sharing your side effect or withdrawal of your legs feeling like jelly. I was looking around the internet for symptoms/effects like "jelly legs", it's how I came across these videos. The oh wow moment of realizing I'm not the only one who experiences these type of things. I also get sporadic twitches that feel 50x stronger than what a so-called normal person gets, even to the point of them feeling painful. Again, thank you for sharing!
Michelle also...at theinnercompass.org at the end of The Withdrawal Project are: “Withdrawal Symptoms from A to Z.” It lists 186 plus symptoms! Hope this is helpful!
Thank you for putting yourself out there to address this issue. My daughter and I went through a life altering experience going on 4 years ago. Our priest, attorney's, various professionals, and anyone who know the facts and extent of situation have told me if we could get through this, we would be able to get through anything life throws our way. Unfortunately, my daughter has been on one form or another of benzos for over five years. I thought nothing could top what had happened. Think again, seeing what this is doing to my once vibrant, outgoing daughter is just as bad if not worse than what happened. Thank you for giving me hope. I know she will not get better until she actually addresses the original problem (she has been diagnosed with CPTSD) which she refuses to discuss. Hopefully, some how I will be able to eventually convince her these meds are not helping her, only making her worse, and then get her the help she needs. I plan on one day being a part of the group that will help educate the general public, and possibly advocate to get some laws changed. It took me until the age of 50 to realize that I am not defined by other people's poor behavior. Unfortunately, she has not gotten to nor is anywhere near this revelation. You are an inspiration!
Thank you for doing these series ( as well as your past videos ). It is hard to read and take in the Ashton Manuel if your already having tolerance withdraw etc ( been on benzos 20 yrs & just finished an 4 yr use opiate taper ) . I looked online for a recorded version of the manual and haven’t found one yet. I do appreciate the time you are taking out of “your life” to help the rest of us. That is a humanitarian act indeed. ( I’m a female under my husbands account btw) . And there no other person I can watch on UA-cam on benzos without getting panicked. Your great at this ! You’ve helped me a lot already and now with the Ashton series , all I can say is - Thank You !!!
I keep saying Jocelyn needs to write a book! A new standard manual for us all to follow because although Dr. Ashton's manual is a great foundation, it is quite outdated now.
Perhaps not but there needs to be a detailed book about diet and other external factors to avoid or add with this syndrome. I hear so many people quoting Ashton about diet especially and it makes me cringe! Also Dr. Ashton was not a survivor herself so it would be great to have the perspective of someone who went through it.
Scott Everson I cant use it...as I can’t take the Valium...but I’m starting liquid titration tomorrow! Oct 1, 2019! I’ve been on 25 yrs trying to come off for 3 yrs...I sure hope it goes well!
Hi I’m so happy I found you. You’re beautiful soul to bring this to us all. I’m two years on Ativan and going crazy through menapause and Ativan. I have tummy issues now and brain issues I crave my Ativan only feel worse after it wears off. Are we able to have consults with yyou? I take one milagram a day all day long and a little pinch when I need more to sleep. I need help. My doctor doesn’t Thank you Mary
Hi Mary have you seen my water tapering video? It sounds like you may be experiencing interdose withdrawals and may benefit from breaking up your dose into multiple doses per day. Sorry about the menopause on top of it all! I'm happy to answer any questions you have here or you can go to benzobrains.com and ask there
Hi I was just reading the benzo budddies and it’s so depressing it takes years and no one sleeping or eating stomach problems all the sane stuff I have. Sounds like it never ends. I’m 57 and I’m already so bad if I can’t eat or sleep god help me. I already having earthing problems only weigh 82 pounds. Thanks for replying not sure if I have the strength to go off:(. How long were you on a benzo? And was it Ativan? I never knew this could happen
Hey, I'm not sure if you will read this but how bad is it to drink alcohol during benzo taper? My taper has been going very well but I basically got carried away and drank alcohol tonight. I'm really worried this will influence my taper very negatively. I couldn't find a definite answer online so I thought you might be able to help. Thank you in advance.
How are you feeling now? Benzos are kinda like alcohol in pill form. So any time you drink it's like updosing for that night. It's never a good idea and generally not good to drink after your taper for a long time after, and very little if and when you decide to try.
Thank you for your reply! That is exactly what I was worried about; that I was updosing. I am feeling sick (flu like symptoms) and very depressed. But I usually get the worst withdrawal symptoms a few days after a dose reduction. That's why I am scared that the worst part is yet to come. Maybe I should have taken a lower dose of Diazepam to balance it out. I really regret my decision. But thank you again for taking the time and trying to help.
It's an individual matter. Sometimes other medications can help someone through the process. But generally it's such a risk and complicating factor that it's advised against
@@BenzoBrains thank you I will again tell the Dr I will pass. HAVE 4 MG of valium left in general how was your sleep as your ween got lower and yes we are all diferent.. actually my biggest fear is not sleeping I been lucky as I can function Thank you
Thank you very much I’m scared I have been on lorazepam for twenty year, before that Xanax and Valium, I am 62 and am going to try to tapper off. Are there support groups.

Same chanced of getting hooked on temazepam. If you're dependent you're dependent. It doesn't matter which benzo at that point, unless we're talking about addiction , which i don't think is the case here
Thanks for all the info. I can't seem to find anything about negative reactions to diazepam. Coming off 1/2 of .5 mg alprazolam 3x daily. Dr. changed to 1/2 of 5mg valium 2 x daily for a month. Was doing ok until yesterday. Super duper panic. Took one 5mg valium and got massive headache, sweating, itching, depression, dread, fear. Very sensitive to the type of generic alprazolam I can take. Dr. wanted me to destroy the few Xanax I had left. What's up with that? Taper is not supposed to be torture. What's an alternative to Valium?
Hi I'm sorry you're having this reaction. Taking a "rescue dose" like that really can throw things off and is not recommended. If you are truly having an adverse or paradoxical reaction to the valium then you have a few options. You can try the equivalent of some other longer acting benzodiazepines such as librium or klonipin, although the latter isn't quite as long acting and you'd probably need to take the same amount as what you were taking of the alprazolam and possibly as many times throughout the day. You can also use Xanax to taper. I have two videos with instructions on how to taper with shorter acting benzodiazepines. Watch them carefully to learn how ua-cam.com/video/02VQSCqa6zE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/whpciMUXHfY/v-deo.html

Joc-- Not sure if you know this but you can run your videos through revaluation now and probably get some of them monetized. Not sure if that's something you're interested in, but you've put a lot of work in, might be nice to get a tiny amount of dough. Not sure it would be much but wanted to let you know.

Can you taper off from benzos and experience withdrawals symptoms.and where can I find that information.
Yes some people still have issues when tapering slowly . It depends on how you begin your taper. Watch my tapering basics video for more information
thanks, the message needs to be spread.

Say did you get on any antidepressants after quitting benzos??
No I won't consider ever taking another psych med again
hiRaymond Duarte it worked for me. I got on Paxil for a week and tapered of kol for 3 weeks with minimal problems. 6 months later got off the benzos
Have you heard of using Kratom to get off. Kratom has relatively low withdrawals
Kratom is an opioid and wouldn’t help with benzo withdrawal, entirely different receptors. Kratom also does have pretty awful withdrawals of its own.
keep up the good work
I’ve been using it for 5 weeks and am now down from 3.5mg lorazepam to 1 mg. Next week I’ll try to lower from 1 to 0. Wish me luck.
Good luck!
I was on 8 mgs of k, never knew it was 20 times stronger
Wow, yeah 8 mg is quite a lot.
1 xan = 10 Val. Not 20
