I feel like I'm missing something big with that "friend" of Tim's who keeps going on all the shows and doing all the interviews where he keeps saying "I kept telling everyone that he needed help" and "I kept saying that we need to call 911", and "They just telling me to keep my mouth shut" and "They kept telling me I was overreacting"...He just keeps saying "I kept telling everyone we needed to call for help", like he thinks he actually did the right thing, lol...YOU HAD A CELLPHONE IN YOUR POCKET NO-DOUBT, SO WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL 911 YOURSELF? And even if this "friend" didn't have a cell phone with him (I bet everything I have that he did), why didn't you just walk out the door and go call 911? I know exactly where that Frat-House is, and it's a block away from a 24-hour Exxon Station in one direction, and 3-blocks away in the other direction from all of downtown State College!!! It's literally a 10-minute or less walk to Beaver Avenue from that Frat House, the heart of Downtown State College, with 30 bars that are open until 2:00 a.m. and on the corner of the same street (Allen St.) as a Sheetz that is open 24 hours...Not to mention it's located in a residential neighborhood of nothing but privately-owned homes (it's an off-campus Frat that is stuck right in the middle of one of the largest and oldest residential neighborhoods in State College, nowhere even near campus)...So there were dozens and dozens and dozens of houses you could have gone to and called 911....I don't get it dude, you were his "friend" and you obviously knew he needed an ambulance, but because all of your "Frat brothers" told you that you were overreacting and told you not to call for help, you just listened to them and let your "friend" lay there for 12 hours dying? What were you doing while he was dying, drinking? Watching the rest of the new Pledges drink themselves unconscious? Stop trying to act like you did the right thing in this situation buddy, because you're every bit as guilty as everyone else involved...Hell, you could have just dialed "911" on your cellphone while it was in your pocket and let it stay connected so that they could have traced your phone and sent an ambulance without anyone knowing you had made the call (even though that's the most ridiculous, cowardly thing you could have done except what you actually did, at least he would have survived)...I don't get this at all, going on every talk show and news program telling the world (including Tim's family and friends) that "I told them all that he needed help, I told them we should call 911"...You're as guilty as every other person involved in Tim Piazza's death (or murder) and you should have been charged right along with them...
While I agree with you... you gotta know that these are children and are most susceptible to peer or authoritative pressure... this can be psychologically demonstrated if you review things like the Asche line experiment and the milgram experiments. I figured out with my oldest son, just how likely it is that they WILL ignore all ypuve taught them... so I took a different approach with my younger son for whom I introduced the milgram and Asche line experiments and we discussed that you are often going along blindly because of a human tendency, but if you are aware of this, you can choose when to conform and not do it blindly. I think this knowledge empowered him... but, now that I am fifty, I can see how they need and want to ‘fit in’ and or conform to their groups at those young ages. This does not mean that they should not be held accountable... but maybe kids would be better off at community college... a hell of a lot less partying than on campus dorm and frat scenarios.
