For anyone debating if this watch is worth it or not, I can tell you this : it is definitely worth every penny. Yes, there are other options out there, for cheaper, but they don't hit as high as this Conquest does. I own the 39mm, blue dial variant, and it is amazing. Above any Tissot, Certina, Hamilton, Seiko in the price range. Above some of them slightly, above some of them by miles. The appearance is something you either like, or you don't. It is not perfect by any means, and there are certain aspects of this watch that could be improved ( that might be better on other options ) , but as an overall package, this watch is incredible. If I would have to choose one watch to keep from my entire collection, this would be the one. If you prefer a Tissot or a Seiko above this, that is just as fine, but you have to acknowledge the incredible value this watch brings. Also, seeing this in person, and trying it on, might help steer you in the right direction.

I’ve seen the VHP mentioned…and I’m going to mention it again. I know quartz tends to be frowned on by watch snobs, but it is a special precise movement and it’s got some cool tricks for those of us that travel often. Also I think there’s something nice about having at least one watch in your collection that you are never worried about winding/power reserve
I would buy the VHP in a heartbeat if it didn't only have 50m of water resistance. For a watch that is otherwise ideal for travelling 50m is simply not enough and for some reason they even proudly put it on the dial. Such a wasted opportunity.
Quartz isn't frowned upon by me. I picked up a new 39mm Hydroconquest quartz for $700. I actually prefer the quartz in this size because it is about 2mm thinner. This is my grab-n-go daily beater. I have a mix of quartz and autos. To me, the Conquest/Hydro value is in the quartz versions. You get the same quality at a much better price.

You are the best in timing of reviews 🤗 I've just checked the conquest at the jewelery. What's also interesting: the Conquest is available in 43, 41 or 39 mm. Which is actually great because of my small wrist size and a lack of sub 40 mm watches. But actually the price and vallue is not that satisfying. I think a direct comparing of these competiting sister models would be very interesting.
Teddy, first, love your videos and everything you do to raise watch awareness. I've got a recommendation. I watch Auto Mundial. They do reviews on European Cars. But one thing I really like, is after reviewing a vehicle, they give a very short look at two competitors. When you review a single watch like above, it would be great for you to briefly mention two or more other brands/watches that would be competitive. I love learning about other brands and this could help to expand our brand awareness. Thanks.
Thank you for pointing out the difference in the colorways. It is beyond me why a brand like Longines would apply in one and print in another. I would definitely lean toward the blue dial for that reason. Also, had been thinking about a Tissot Gentleman, but I think I'd rather stretch the budget just a little bit further and pick up another Longines.
I think there is quite a good argument in favor of the print, considering the overall design. Initially I also thought the applied indices would make the watch look more premium. But the dial design which appears to be large despite the 39mm diameter, mainly due to the size of the arabics coupled with the high contrast, the applied indices made it look like a little bit over the top and in your face. The print in the black version actually refines the overall look.
@@jericocalzado I felt the same way , but I read so many comments about painted indices being/looking cheap compared to applied. I have previously made a comment on Teddy's excellent clip but wanted to add the following-just incase it may be of value to any of you guys out there. So, I ended up buying one of these last week...and I couldn't be happier with it. While not exactly cheap, it is absolutely top notch for the money and is the perfect blend of dress and sporty. While I don't see many of us hitting 300m of depth...it says a great deal about the build quality of this excellent timepiece. Just note though fellas...it does wear 'biggish'. If you're unsure about the 39 or 41mm; go for the 39. Secondly, I was going to go for the blue as I have a lot of black and white faced pieces, but...'in person', it looks much lighter than on screen-so do bear in mind if ordering direct from the our our good man Teddy here ;) Bottom line however... Extremely happy with it! It looks, feels...and is...a super piece. P.S. After three days, time keeping is absolutely correct. Best from Blighty chaps! :-)
Good shout Teddy. When you see some of the designer crap that some buy for this and more. Well....! For anyone wanting a Rolex Explorer who doesn't have, or doesn't want to splash out that kind of money, this looks like the perfect choice.
This was my first Swiss made luxury watch. I bought in 2018, was on a discount and I signed up to the subscribe for a further 10%. Bought for £540, bargain. I wear for my everyday watch when not working (building trade). Wears well with leather straps if weight is an issue. I recommend this watch as an owner.
Have been looking at these for a short while now, it will be my first watch ever, hopefully a good one at that. Glad to see an owner like yourself does recommend it.
Nice video Teddy. I have a 41mm black dial. It has a beautiful case with nice sloping lugs, beautiful case back, clean and legible dial, lovely hand set and date display. The bracelet is gorgeous and slopes nicely to hug the wrist and the butterfly clasp also looks wonderful. The 300 metre water resistance in great. Not a lot to complain about in its presentation or aesthetics not to mention the accuracy of this movement is the best I have experienced ever. But here is the dark side of this piece. The fact that the clasp has no micro adjustment is not good. It's either a little large or a little tight. Never perfect and it weighs a bit more because a couple of extra solid links weigh more than you average clasp. The crown could be a bit shorter as it does occasionally dig into your hand. Just totally unecessary, seeing that it is also a heavy piece at about 170 grams on a 7 inch wrist fit. The lume is a joke and I don't know why they even advertise it on the black dial and the markers are printed which is so poor. The blue has applied markers but with no lume at all. It does astonish me as to why such a huge company is so close to getting it right but yet so far. Not overly expensive and a great look ing piece but certainly far from great. Fit it and wear it, try before you buy.
It’s a real shame about the butterfly type clasp with no micro adjustment option. As you said it’s either a little too loose or a little too tight…hugely frustrating. I wonder if they’ll ever be ‘non integrated’ bracelet version to enable to swap out to a strap. Gorgeous watch and great video as always from Teddy.
I was just mulling over this watch for my first swiss watch man! Thanks for the review. I always trust your knowledge on watches. My immense gratitude for your review!
This watch strikes me as the best 3 hand watch in the 2000$ range. Maybe my Batavi Kosmopoliet is better for an everyday office casual piece, but this one is probably more comfortable in my opinion. Another great review, the brand is remarkable, good camera work and great research.
This watch ticks all the boxes for me. It is reliable and feels and looks fantastic on your wrist. If you have slim wrists like me the 39 mm will be great. A timeless classic. Love watching your videos Teddy.👍👍
I really like Longines as a brand - I have a Hydroconquest and a couple of vintage ones and on the latter pair I was able to get details of the watch from Longines history department free of charge. One is a 1914 pocket watch that was sent to the distributor in Paris - Great history!
Loved my conquest. It was my first ‘proper’ watch. Great piece, such a great gateway into the luxury watch world. Bang for buck it’s amazing, only eclipsed by the VHP or Hydroconquest on rubber
This is a stunning watch and is on my list of possible purchases. Thanks for making a video on this brand. It is refreshing to hear about these brands ! Cheers!
This watch looks so clear and perfectly designed, minimalistic and sporty but without anything unpractical and unnecessary. I don’t know if there is any other watch so perfectly designed among all brands and models.
That's the watch I got for my last birthday, the 39mm automatic black dial with lume hands (the lume is disapointing by the way). For me it was a no brainer, got it second hand from a guy who bought it 3 month back for just 600€, I had been on the hunt for it for a few month on chrono24 as they were all around 800€ second hand. Swiss automatic every day watch, 300m WR, ETA, date, original design... suited for any ocasion and a tank. I had been quite disapointed to never see it mentioned by any watch youtuber so far.
I have the discontinued Conquest GMT with a lovely red GMT hand that contrast beautifully with the sunburst blue dial. It’s a wonderful watch, highly recommended
I love this watch! Can't get an explorer so this is my next pick after my Seamaster that I love. Love all your videos Teddy, keep up the great content.
Such a sleeper piece. I bought this watch in 2017 and its been a go to for years. Great choice and I'm hoping they upgrade this guy with maybe a new movement, smaller size.
your videos and commentary are so compelling. even watches that are not on my radar seem so attractive! good work, teddy. besides, i am from cleveland too! always see it in the backgrounds : ) keep up the good work!
Great vid. I don't know what else you could ask for in that price range. Very clean, versatile, legible, good looking watch. Personally, I place value on good lume for dive or tool watches. I'm ok with the blue dial version not having lume on the hands.
Full confession... I recently got a Longines... But in a unheard-of twist, it's a Conquest VHP... After what seems like 20 years of wanting one... My first Longines is a Quartz!!! 😲 Didn't really have much choice though. It was a direct trade for an Alpina. My first such trade and it went so smoothly. As for Longines, I like a lot of the Heritage stuff but I've really had my eye on the actual HydroConquest. I guess divers are my thing. But the Bezel must have the 15, 30, 45 and not 10, 20, 30 (etc)... The only pieces I like far beyond Longines in this entryway are many offerings from Breitling. Superocean and Superocean Heritage top among those. But hey. Those are more expensive. 😀
You'll be very satisfied with the Longines VHP! I've had mine for 1 year now and it does gain a little time (under 1 second a month) but it's otherwise completely reliable, fun to operate and it's the go-to watch if you want to know THE correct time, as opposed to approximate time. The case-back is stunning! Look out for the 3am 'dance' every 3 days.
That shot of the blue dial Longines automatic conquest is simply jaw dropping. I have to see this watch up close, as I don’t understand how Longines make such beautiful watches, many with chronometer grade auto movements at bargain bucket prices.
Bc they are owned by swatch group. If they were independent, say like Oris for example.. these would be $2500 pieces. Which I believe they ARE close to being worthy of that price tag.
@@robbiecleighmarks3088 Yes, makes sense, so basically they’re saving on manufacturing costs by not outsourcing to an external supplier as a small independent would.
If I was just starting out in watches, I would buy this watch. I like the design, the power reserve. Well worth the price. Unfortunately I have great watches, I never wear and this is the type of watch that should be worn every day.
No lume on the hands? I might just want to know the time at night. Put lume on the blue dial, and use applied indices on the black and you have a winner for both.
I've got the white dial 41mm with an additional leather strap which really makes it stand out even more. I've got a 6.7 inch wrist, glad I didn't go 43mm ...even though I have bigger watches...this one you want to wear it on the smaller side.
I have the 43mm in Quartz (MSRP around $700?). It's such a great watch. It has refined design aspects, but can perform as a very capable field watch. It's a sleeper that inserts a legacy name in your collection without significantly adding to the aggregate maintenance outlay (quartz, again); you get to save your money for those Rolex/Tudor/Omega rebuilds (ouch). Put it on a high quality NATO strap and your on your way. Thanks for the review.
I do have the previous black longines conquest. I deliberately got the previous model because the recent models for the black dial does not come with applied markers while the previous models do. The applied markers do add more character and elegance to the watch.
Basically a Tissot Gentleman for double the price, 100m is also enough from the Tissot. Looks nice but would not pay the added premium for this over a Gentleman. I also think the Tissot variant looks better :) Great content Ted!
@@giusepperocchi2979 the Tissot has 80h power reserve with silicium balance spring running at 3hz. How is the longines movement any better when it has a shorter PR and lower frequency rate?
@@vgcamara The Longines has a worse power reserve, but the frequency is higher. The Powermatic 80 movement has a 21600 bph, while the movement in the Longines is either 25200 bph or 28800 bph depending on what movement you get. Not sure if that's still a problem, but at least a few years ago, there was a post on Reddit that showed proof that the Longines Conquest line could have 3 different movements, despite of the fact that only one was listed on their website. That said, all three movements had a higher beat rate than the Powermatic 80, but with a worse power reserve. The 25200 bph movement has a 72 hour power reserve, and ticks at 3.5 Hz - or 7 times per second, compared to the 6 of the Powermatic 80. Not a huge difference, but still a higher beat rate.
@@vgcamara The Longines movement has a higher beat rate, it’s 3.5 Hz (25200 bph) and is based on a top grade 2892, not the standard 2824 which the PM80 is based on.

I own the black dial and the silver dial, both in 39mm. Longines should had done these watches with applied markers and lume, they’re great watches anyway.
It’s a superb watch, and excellent value (I own one), but it’s not quite perfect. They could have reduced the case thickness; a WR of 150m would have been more than sufficient. The blue face has zero lume (why??) The crown guards are needlessly large. The butterfly bracelet has no micro adjust. The clasp digs into the skin. The HydroConquest bracelet would have been a MUCH better option (I’ve swapped one in on mine)
why? because some people may like it ;-) my Longines with black master collection dial has no lume and I love it, for the micro adjust I'm with you, the clasp doesn't dig into the skin :-)
For anyone debating if this watch is worth it or not, I can tell you this : it is definitely worth every penny.

Secondly, I was going to go for the blue as I have a lot of black and white faced pieces, but...'in person', it looks much lighter than on screen-so do bear in mind if ordering direct from the our our good man Teddy here ;)
Bottom line however... Extremely happy with it! It looks, feels...and is...a super piece.
P.S. After three days, time keeping is absolutely correct.
Best from Blighty chaps! :-)
Longines, Oris, Nomos, Eterna. All very nice in that price range.
Teddy, I have been eyeing this watch for a while. Thanks for that extra push to finally pull the trigger. Putting in my order now.
Good shout Teddy. When you see some of the designer crap that some buy for this and more. Well....! For anyone wanting a Rolex Explorer who doesn't have, or doesn't want to splash out that kind of money, this looks like the perfect choice.
This is a great classy yet simple watch as an every day wearer. Light yet substantial.
I have the 34mm watch and I cannot stop enjoying it every single time I put it on! Thanks for the review Teddy!
@@BurritoSenor how are you liking it
@@pwally2714 haven't got one yet haha
Longines nailed it with 39mm! Wow beautiful watch.
My 1962 manual Longines is the most accurate mechanical watch that I own! It gains about +3 a day. I love this brand.
Teddy, cheers to your editing team .. the cinematics are awesome and the content also, very well done !
Hamilton Khaki still the King of sub $1000 and most of them are sub $500. Great Video Teddy! Loved it!
Do you at least eat the alligators you hunt?
I really like Longines as a brand - I have a Hydroconquest and a couple of vintage ones and on the latter pair I was able to get details of the watch from Longines history department free of charge. One is a 1914 pocket watch that was sent to the distributor in Paris - Great history!
Loved my conquest. It was my first ‘proper’ watch. Great piece, such a great gateway into the luxury watch world. Bang for buck it’s amazing, only eclipsed by the VHP or Hydroconquest on rubber
What were the following ones in your 'collections'?
This is a stunning watch and is on my list of possible purchases. Thanks for making a video on this brand. It is refreshing to hear about these brands ! Cheers!
This watch looks so clear and perfectly designed, minimalistic and sporty but without anything unpractical and unnecessary. I don’t know if there is any other watch so perfectly designed among all brands and models.
Now I’m motivated to buy one. As for me I don’t see the need to pay more then 1k or 1500 for a
Watch. Thanks for the video.
I had been quite disapointed to never see it mentioned by any watch youtuber so far.
picked up the black 41mm automatic because of this video. love it, thanks Teddy
Damn it! That's good value for money. If I hadn't bought my Tissot Gentleman I would be considering this watch
I think I asked you about this watch a year ago or more. Glad to see you mentioning it
OMG, I orderded it two days ago and received it 2hrs ago thinking no one ever talks about this watch !
Amazing watch, especially with the blue dial!
I have the discontinued Conquest GMT with a lovely red GMT hand that contrast beautifully with the sunburst blue dial. It’s a wonderful watch, highly recommended
Agree, I own the Conquest and have the complimentary Hydroconquest with the red bezel a great matching pair.
I love this watch! Can't get an explorer so this is my next pick after my Seamaster that I love. Love all your videos Teddy, keep up the great content.
Outstanding production quality. Its not easy to film watches but you and your crew do an amazing job.
Just ordered mine. Black dial. Thanks for introducing me to this watch.
Thanks Teddy Baldassarre. I have only vintage Longines. But this one is an wearable and affordably new watch. Greetings to everybody. Good staff.
I love my conquest. You are quite right about its value for the money.
Wow, That is a great looking watch! the Explorer look. Nice. Wish it was an all brushed bracelet.
I agree. It's still a little big and thick. I think I am going to go with the Traska Summiteer
I love watching you evolve.
I have a conquest VHP chronograph, this is the best watch i've ever had.
Such a sleeper piece. I bought this watch in 2017 and its been a go to for years. Great choice and I'm hoping they upgrade this guy with maybe a new movement, smaller size.
your videos and commentary are so compelling. even watches that are not on my radar seem so attractive! good work, teddy. besides, i am from cleveland too! always see it in the backgrounds : )
keep up the good work!
Great vid. I don't know what else you could ask for in that price range. Very clean, versatile, legible, good looking watch. Personally, I place value on good lume for dive or tool watches. I'm ok with the blue dial version not having lume on the hands.
What else you could ask for in that price range? How much does it cost add little bit LumiNova to blue dial and hands? 5 euro?
Thorough review. Teddy is on another level.
Just bought the 43mm on steel bracelet version. Class watch and the sweep is good too.
I bought the black face in Quartz, I love it just looks so good.
You make me so happy with this video because I m buying one of this longines
Full confession... I recently got a Longines... But in a unheard-of twist, it's a Conquest VHP... After what seems like 20 years of wanting one... My first Longines is a Quartz!!! 😲
Didn't really have much choice though.
@@citizent6999 yep, thanks! Mine is currently off by 2 seconds... Probably will wait until 5 seconds to get a service call going for full precision. 👍
@@Pulsonar 100% correct!
yes, it is. I have the same in 41mm with black dial! An amazing watch.
I just got the Longines Conquest VHP and love it!
Nice choice. One of the cooler quartz powered watches.
Nobody is gonna talk about how crazy that intro beat is? Also looking to get this watch for my 30th Birthday!
I love this watch and it has been on my radar for some time now. It is a very likely project for me in the not so distant future.
Great video as usual, Teddy. I have the 41mm version. Absolutely love it!
Thanks for the video... I'm considering the conquest and hydro conquest... both are very nice
If I was just starting out in watches, I would buy this watch. I like the design, the power reserve. Well worth the price. Unfortunately I have great watches, I never wear and this is the type of watch that should be worn every day.
exactly what i wanted thanks! The watch and the history.. I like this over most Tissot actually, never considered it before..
No lume on the hands? I might just want to know the time at night. Put lume on the blue dial, and use applied indices on the black and you have a winner for both.
+1, it’s why my blue Conquest is a summer-only watch.
I've got the white dial 41mm with an additional leather strap which really makes it stand out even more. I've got a 6.7 inch wrist, glad I didn't go 43mm ...even though I have bigger watches...this one you want to wear it on the smaller side.
I just got the Longines moonphase slimline womens watch such a good watch I'm loving it
Beautiful watch such an affordable alternative to explorer.
Applied numerals and LUME would make this a top pick for me. Why Longines didn't do this, I'll never understand.
My missus has the 29.5mm version, the dail is beautiful.
The Conquests are vastly underrated
But how would it compare with say the Sinn 556A/I? I wonder if that is the real alternative for those who look for something more
This is one on my "Watch collection dream list" for me currently. Hopefully I can get it soon enough and now a chance to get it from Teddy.
I was debating between this and the Hamilton American Classic Spirit. Ended up with a Christopher ward 😂
Which one may I ask?
@@matteocapietti2833 something completely different compared to these two , the new c63 Colchester , should be getting it in 3 weeks.

@@HRM.H aha, the carbon paratrooper model? Looks interesting.
@@matteocapietti2833 I have the c63 sealander elite. Absolutely love it
I have the 41mm black dial…it gets compliments
I have the 43mm in Quartz (MSRP around $700?). It's such a great watch. It has refined design aspects, but can perform as a very capable field watch. It's a sleeper that inserts a legacy name in your collection without significantly adding to the aggregate maintenance outlay (quartz, again); you get to save your money for those Rolex/Tudor/Omega rebuilds (ouch). Put it on a high quality NATO strap and your on your way. Thanks for the review.
I've the 41mm quartz bought it for 450€ in Turkey. Beautiful watch, I've got a thousand compliments on it.
Gorgeous timepiece. Just purchased the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic but might purchase this one too.
This has a much better movement
@@vgcamara
The Longines movement has a higher beat rate, it’s 3.5 Hz (25200 bph) and is based on a top grade 2892, not the standard 2824 which the PM80 is based on.
@@OriginalLoLRandom my bad, you're absolutely right. I misread 3hz for 28800 when, as you mentioned, it's actually 21600. Anyway, not sure I would pay the $500 difference for the longines
Great watch, I would to see you do a review of the conquest VHP quartz.
I was going to buy the tissot gentleman powermatic 80, but now I'm in doubt. Do you think that this longines is worth the ekstra money?
Great video as always teddy!
I’m in the exact same position. Can’t decide which one to go for. Anybody got any thoughts?
Both are Beautiful watches, i think you cant go wrong with any of them. I am a Longines fanboy and have already 3 Conquests :-)
I would say Longines is in another league. VW is a nice car, but it isnt AUDI.The Longines has better history and gravitas. The Tissot is nice, but I see it as a Seiko alternative.
This is a great alternative to an Aqua Terra and an Oyster Perpetual
I own the black dial and the silver dial, both in 39mm. Longines should had done these watches with applied markers and lume, they’re great watches anyway.
It’s a superb watch, and excellent value (I own one), but it’s not quite perfect.
They could have reduced the case thickness; a WR of 150m would have been more than sufficient.
The blue face has zero lume (why??)
The crown guards are needlessly large.
They should have completely removed the crown guards and reduced the crown size by as the conquest is clearly a dress watch.
Just picked up mine today. I went with the black variant. Great piece. My first luxury watch, automatic. 39mm
