      @@maryambukhari60 low porosity hair does repel a little water (like a drizzly Misty rain will just sit on top of my hair) but soaking hair like a bath or shower does penetrate the very tight hair follicles but then gets trapped in their meaning it takes a long time to dry

    Thank you finally a better way of knowing my hair porosity. The spray test and showing the beads of water was very helpful. And thats what helped me the most to determining what I thought my hair type l along, low porosity.

    I’ve got the typical low porosity hair which is more wavy/ribbony than real deal curly, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to wash a treat my hair so it’s maintains its shin/bounce longer, I’ve tried leaving actual condition in it overnight with it in a bun and In the morning I’ll take it down and blow dry it to blow out any remaining damp spots....wasn’t sure if there are any other good spray products that could be utilized while the hair is still damp to help achieve a shine and soft look?

I also tried my wash routine with warm water at start and ended with cold water but No matter what I use it doesn't work well for me and now in winter it's getting more and more dry and tangled. When I don’t put product in my hair after a shower, even having used a hair mask & conditioners, my hair will dry puffy and frizzy (naturally blonde curly hair, 3A-3B, maybe even 3C depending on where it is ok my head). When I try to get my hair wet after doing this, let’s say the day after showering & not putting anything in it or styling, just combing back, it takes longer for it to get saturated compared to how quick it gets wet when my hair is more oily after not showering for a while. Also, while having put nothing in my hair, my hair strand is squeaking.
    Is this low porosity hair? How do I help my hair’s porosity while not maintaining super natural curls? I’m trying to get wavey-er hair since it’s short.

    • @YourMajesty143
      @YourMajesty143 Рік тому

      That doesn't sound like lo-po, since the reason low-porosity doesn't get moisture is due to the hair cuticles being tighter or due to the hair having build-up. So if your hair is oily with build-up, then it should actually be harder for you to get it wet, not easier. Maybe you're high-po or medium-po. Or maybe the reason it gets wet faster is bc your hair was so dehydrated without being washed for so long, so the oily film is irrelevant. I think a better test is to spray clean hair to see if it beads up.

    Most people whose hair rejects water/water beads up on their head will eventually soak it in that means its medium porosity. Most people who think their hair is low is actually medium 🙅‍♀️

    So if I have low porosity hair, should I not be putting oils on my hair after I shower? Are they just sitting on the outside rather than getting absorbed? What products should I use instead for my curls?

    • @emmarowan3136
      @emmarowan3136 3 роки тому +3

      From what I have found you should do an oil mask before you shower that way you can give it enough time to absorb into the hair. There are specific oils that are good for low porosity hair, if you google it you should find a good list of them.

    • @rjjlynxking6792

      For deep conditioning, I'm going to try oil mask with a bonnet on cuz apparently heat opens the cuticles, and then wash it.
      I would think that hot water would open the cuticles?? So then if I sprayed it like I started to do, it would go in?

      I am in the same boat. Some time we have a lot of different curl patterns on our head. I have 2a strands mixed in with 3a strands. Some days are curlier than others depending on application and if I diffuse or not. It could just be your hair pattern or it could be your new growth and damaged hair intermingling.

    • @ican384

    I feel so stupid, ignorant me used to think that mostly coloured people or anyone with coarse, thick hair had low porosity. I always ran my head under the shower head with a filter and it soaked instantly, so i assumed based off of that that it was high porosity. But after doing all of these tests, i think i am low porosity. My hair strand floats, it beads if i spray it and if i pull the strand, it feels sort of hard. Maybe i'm mixed? i never dyed my hair and i've stopped straightening it 4 years ago.

    4c hair types are born with low porosity hair no matter the hair density. 4 or 5 hours time to dry hair is not low porosity ...it's barely medium. Low porosity hair take DAYS to dry ... not hours. Your ancestors had to come from environments that experienced zero cold, not much rain, and people could die from serious heat stroke. Low porosity is from a racial genotype that needed hair to grow up to trap water when it rained to keep them hydrated.
