I have a 2024 Ranger Raptor, my first 1000 miles, I was getting 16 miles per gallon. Now, with my 2nd 1000 miles, im getting close to 19 miles per gallon.
I subbed. Just got my 2.3 L 4 cylinder, XLT in October, live in Minnesota. Haven't had a chance to use the 4X4 in snow yet but I did go on a logging trail in 4 high a few weeks ago. So far I am liking it a lot. Retired, so this may be my last vehicle, unless I want the V-6.
Out of all the midsized trucks I think Ford has the best drivetrain along the entire lineup. If they didn't have the 2.7L v6, i'm sure i'd have been completely happy with the 2.3 (although may have found a way to disable the As/s).
Bought a XLT 2.7 with Tech and Advanced trailer. Really appreciate front camera when parking truck in my garage. It barely fits but it knows when I'm in enough and it brakes automatically when I get in the right spot.
I really got the tech package for the cruise control but am sooo happy with the surround camera. I think there’s a good chance that future vehicles will end up with this on a short list of features.
Awesome video, I'm currently in 2017 F150 3.5 Lariat CC 6.5 ft box. Might considering downsizing for the next truck. I really want to drive one of these 2.7 Rangers.
A week ago I got a 2024 with the V6, XLT-High, FX4, and basic towing. I really didn't care about the advanced tech package since XLT-High gives us the power seats and dual-temperature controls. I am thrilled with my choice of the Ranger in general and specifically the V6. I wasn't planning to get the V6 but the salesman found one available for a dealer trade that was equipped like I wanted. The 2.3 four-cylinder is "fine" but the 2.7 V6 is awesome. I already upgraded the tires to BFGoodrich KO2's. Interesting detail if you are considering a Lariat: According to TireRack the Lariat tire size does not have any off-road all-terrain tires available. None.
I think you'll really be happy with that setup. I got the tech package primarily for the adaptive cruise control (in my last vehicle it was one of those things i was surprised i liked so much; i knew i needed it again) and have been very happy with the other tech it came with. I really like the 360 camera!
It would be nice! But let’s be honest; the XL is for 2 purposes : fleets and to have a low price point to bring people in for an upsell…they probably don’t really want to sell many.
they do that on purpose to make u have to go up in trim level i asked a chevy dealer one time i wanted to build a silverado with a 6.2 engine, they won't let u even doing a factory build they make u go up in the trims to drive up the costs.
@@NARoutdoors I got an Ranger XL, I don't owned a fleet, but I am just starting my business, needed a truck, both personal and business purpose, I needed a 302a package and also the 2.7 v6 and the fx4, that's $7000 over my base xl 4x4 Ranger, which is just wild, if I'll spend $47000, I'll spend 10000 over to get the raptor, maybe the next gen Ranger Raptor, or a Ranger Tremor, if it will make sense. That the tensile strength is Questionable.. and the plastic sway bar links. Questionable. I'm no Engineer. but to me seems weak. Specially on an off road Truck.. Maybe the design make them strong??? Can somebody enlighten me on this.
I don’t think shipping it would increase towing. It was definitely not a priority when I ordered the truck tho. For me I knew I wanted the locking dif (a stand alone option) as well as some underbody protection (after market options exist). Bonus for my kids were the running boards which may come off as they get older. It also includes some software tech in the center display as well as trail control (surprisingly nice for low speed gravel roads. It’s like using cruise control but at 5-10mph).
@@RyanP-l7i I havn't spent nearly enough time in a non-fx4 to know for sure but i really like the way it handles on the road. Defiantly not harsh or wallowy. It'll be interesting to see how that changes with the addition of the camper...
@@NARoutdoors yes, while I will be towing a trailer camper. My co-worker recommended going with the 18" rims to avoid wobble in the tires too. And since I'm not off-roading, I thought of not going with FX4..
If you have the 2.7 you should look at your build date, maybe this has been covered in another video you did. But if your truck was built after sept. 12, when the built spec changed, you will not need the j braces. See more including photos at ranger6g.
I'm waiting on Ford to do some updates on the options availability. I'm used to heads up display and ventilated seats on my current truck and when they offer these two options, I'll make a trip to my Ford dealer to see what kind of deal I can get. No vents for the rear seats is a bummer, why wouldn't they have thought that people will be riding in the rear seats.
My mazda had those features; i've not found i miss them (maybe the cooled seats) but i didnt feel it was a deal breaker in any way. I even had a backup plan if i missed the HUD too much...
The thing about that is the Rangers in Australia/Thailand/Philippines DO have the rear vents. Some US owners buy the vent kit from an Aussie dealer and install them themselves.
I wasn’t thrilled with the ridgeline infotainment. The engine is also very old in it but it is a good truck. I love my 2.7l and would recommend you at least test drive one but the 2.3 is also quite nice and plenty powerful for most people.

How do you know that you dont miss the extras the Lariat offers if you dont have the Lariat or ever experienced them ? reading about them is not the same as experiencing them. I am not being a wise guy at all by this. I was the exact opposite. I test drove all three , the Raptor , The XLT , and the Lariat. For me , the Lariat offered the best of all three. The Raptor , in my opinion , is more geared towards the younger generation for the speed and looks. Practicality for the raptor however is hard to justify. With the extremely lower haul and tow rating. The XLT is a great package IF you dont need or want the extra luxuries the Lariat offers. Again , if you dont test drive all the packages , you cant truly experience them. It all boils down to the opinions of each and every one of us. My only advice is to test drive all three , if your price point allows for all three , then decide on what model you want to buy. Again , reading about the options is not the same as experiencing them. I did that and was sold on a XLT. I went to my dealer and test drove all three first. I then landed on the Lariat. Everyone has their own reasons. Mine was that i found i would be using some of the extras the Lariat offered. I very much enjoyed the feel and look of the leather seats over the cloth. The bigger screen was very noticeable to me. Not having a old school key was also nice after test driving. The shifter , from the XLT to the Lariat , was also nicer for me. Again , its all our individual opinions , there is no right or wrong.
You've got a point! I think i touched on a bunch of this in one of my earlier videos. During my research phase for this i test drove 6 or 7 different rangers! (i didn't test drive the raptor because i knew it was not needed for me). I did a test drive of the XLT and Lariat back to back the same day twice (once alone and once with my wife). Some of what i'm not missing was present in my last car (PBS, leather seats) so i speak from that somewhat. One of the biggest turn offs for the Lariat for me was the leather seats; i felt like i slipped around in them too much, defiantly a preference thing tho.
If ford doesn't fix my 2021 Ranger Tremor properly, the 2025 Ranger 2.7L may be what I get. GM mid-size look better to me but think Ford's drivetrain is best at this moment.
I got rid of my 23 Tremor lol. I couldn't stand the vibrations I was experiencing. They admitted that the vibrations existed and that they could feel them but said there was no fix.
