My ranger says it was built on 10/2024 and should not require an upgrade I purchased (egr style j hooks, ) that the upper part bolts to the cargo hold down loops) Watching this video I see my truck bed does not have the sheet metal elbow you cut out and painted. My bed is solid sheet metal on that bend, (the open spaces are solid sheet metal) so look stronger. As I do plan on installing a smart cap evo. I am going to install the egr j hooks anyway!!!!!!!! I will jack up my frame, and remove the rear tires, to make more elbow room. My dealership was clueless.
I will say that the way Ford handled the issue with this part and the need for it was about as bad as I can imagine it could be. My dealership knew nothing about the shortcoming and the need for the j brace and they knew nothing about when it was fixed by the factory. I ordered J braces and through my own research and Ranger 6g forum I figured out I didn’t need them because of build date.
Since information on this seems to be scarce at best, how are people determining if their Ranger requires the extra braces? From what I've seen Ford Canada hasn't been issuing notices because the notice was sent out by Ford US, and apparently some people aren't being told unless they purchased a Ford branded cap or camper. Personally I'm pretty sure my 230lb ass is applying more than 88lbs of pressure if I sit in the wrong place.
Still figuring out the music thing on youtube! (there was supposed to be background music the entire time but youtube removed it...). I'll figure it out someday.
Yeah, youtube has YT music that you can use, so you don't have to worry about copyright strikes. Otherwise, you'd have to pay for a licensing service subscription thing.
thx for video... i hear the music... so the ranger I'm looking at has a build date of 09/24... guess I need to ask the dealer if the braces were updated... thx!
My 10/ 2024 has no bracket added, the factory made a upgrade to the sheet metal bend, area, this man cuts with the sawzall. My truck is solid sheet metal in this bend area. But I am adding egr j brackets that bolt to the bed tie down loops, it's a diffrent designed bracket then in this video. Instalation bolts are in different locations to this video. As his was a ford part. I am adding a smart cap evo, made of glass and stainless steel, and adding camping accessories so it will be top heavy. On the rails.

I'm glad my XLT was built early October.
which means?
@@MESTER47 No need for the braces that the earlier builds require.
@@MESTER47 trucks built after 9/12/24 (I think this is the date) don't need the bed brackets.

Yea im probably going to have the dealership do all this 😂
Honestly, not the worst idea. It wasn’t that bad tho!
Still waiting for my j braces to process. Been in “processing” for 2 months now. How long did it take for you?
Ordered October 3. Received last week
I don't think ford builds them any more. Look into (egr j brace)
