    I really like it, but I'm afraid of mixing my everyday needs from a smartwatch with a device that is responsible for "keeping me alive" underwater (what will happen after 4 years of everyday use?) (The same apply to Garmin Descent)

      Defiantly something to consider but I've also seen plenty of people pull out of storage their dive computer the day of their trip to find out its not working...it really could go both ways. My best suggestion (and what i do personally) is dive with 2 computers. I love my Shearwater, especially so because it uses AA batteries that i can find anywhere...

    We had the same thought process with our research. I love the Lone Peak but decided to order the Xtrusion. What got me was the ability to take off the tent. My truck is my daily so I liked having that option. Plus living in Illinois, shipping was crazy for a lot of the West Coast brands.

      I'm excited about the Xtrusion but just cant commit till i see their tent design. I do like that they switched gears and are planning on using a single handle latch system over the hood push pins; having said all that if the lone peak was 12 inches shorter (and i'm looking at it thinking, maybe i could make that happen...) it would be perfect.

      In my opinion it would be much better off with a straight clip. the doubling back adds complexity. it may be worth removing it and cutting off the double back portion and then filing it down to be more suitable for your use needs.

    Not a fan of the EDC. I've had two. Both have burned a hole in two pants. And melted the lenses. I had to scrape off the char. The wedge straight up melted a hole in the lens in my pocket. I'm testing out the Rovyvon E30 Pro right now. Only two days in but I'm pretty happy with it, so far. It has a proximity sensor so that will prevent my pants being lit on fire. Which can be turned off if you want, I'm definitely keeping it on. I threw the EDC in my camping bag since I do like it but not for edc ironically.

    • @NARoutdoors
      @NARoutdoors 5 днів тому

      i had issues with the edc turning on in the pocket as well but never the the wedge/xt. I've got a few of the Rovyvons that i really really like. I've not had a chance to try out the E30. I'll get one and let you know what I think...Kinda sad they didnt follow the other angel eyes with a hybrid replaceable/rechargable battery tho for the pro version.

    • @nostalgicmusicbox
      @nostalgicmusicbox 5 днів тому

      @@NARoutdoors yeah. I was thinking that too about the hybrid. But honestly, I think it's worth it with this one. I usually carry an Angel E7 (red), an extra AAA, & a small power bank with me. I've only had the E30 Pro a few days so I can't speak for the battery life but it's almost double all the EDC variance and triple the E30. The UV, red, and warm are great. I wanted the Angel Eye E7 with UV, red, and warm but the front facing only comes in red/warm or UV/warm. I figured I'd use the red.

    I’ve had the EDC 27 for at least a year and it’s a great light. It’s not confusing or sensitive at all. It’s got great lockout modes that are very straightforward. I don’t care for the proprietary nature of the Olight and the need to carry around an extra charging cable.

  • @LaResistenciaEDC
    @LaResistenciaEDC 7 днів тому

    The only thing sith the edc27 is the fact that its getting super hot, and the size for a standard pocket. Besides that its a great (and easy straight) light. Its your choice but those 4 lights presenting are 4 completly diffrent parametres and for me depending on the situation one is better than the other. (I wiuld choose the edc27 anyday..)

    • @NARoutdoors
      @NARoutdoors 7 днів тому

      absolutely everyone needs to make their own decision based on their use case; but i honestly can not come up with a use case where the EDC is the best. It absolutely fails the KISS principle when it comes to tactical lights and is overbuilt and also hard to use as a task light (which still benefits from KISS)

      The momentary/strobe button is the biggest issue. Even in non-stressful situations trying to just hit the button for momentary on is challenging without setting off the strobe. Getting it in and out of lock out tests my tolerance and using it without the lockout ends up having it turn on in my pocket. IMO many lights these days really try to do too much and fail due to that.

    As someone who currently has a wedge style camper with a partner and a dog, I really recommend going with the tune, i placed an order for one recently. Great video and info, super relatable to where I’m currently at in my decision making process. I think though, that I’ve decided on Lone Peak. Couple things that sold me are: Base price, enough said. That massive overhang of the cab. I think that extra sleeping room will be nice. I know you mentioned you’re a bit skeptical of that overhang, but I don’t foresee that being an issue with the amount of weight I’ll be putting on it (I’m 165lb). If I foresee it becoming problematic then maybe I’ll come up with a roof-bar design to help support the load if need be. I’ll cross that bridge. I also like that the side access doors come standard. I feel like they’re either not an option or an additional add-on cost from other manufacturers. Keep us posted on what you decide! Happy trails.

    • @NARoutdoors
      @NARoutdoors 14 днів тому

      The lone peak is super nice and I think for any truck bed size over 5ft it would be sweet but a 5ft bed truck just looks off with this on top. The base price is nice but their shipping is higher than anyone else that ships by about 1k (I have to tack on 2500 just to get it). #eastcoastoverlandtax I tell ya what tho: if they made one that had an 18” pass through this would be exactly what I’d get. As it is now it’s still in the running but I’ve still not made my decision. Maybe there will be some photos of it on a 24 ranger soon.

    I have the Ocean and agree with a number of your key points. Silly that Suunto released the hardware ahead of the compass (which is definitely coming). I do think digital compasses can be good (Oceanic app on AWU is very good). As you've noted though the UI is a bit too form over function too much clicking is required to assimilate all common information. I fear that if they follow this model forward, the compass info will exclude too much useful data and the situation will just get worse. In addition to your screen mock up, I'd love to be able to disable some of the crazy long list of data points scrolled through at the bottom.

      thanks for the replay and you are spot on; I can confirm the band isn't long enough for a 4m compressed neoprene dry suit (the 4i extension band works with this however and will allow u to use it as a drysuit computer which i will be highlighting in my next video about this computer). I think suunto really is really marketing this for new diver / rec divers / vacation divers and not drysuit divers. I dont think they could make the band much longer without causing problems for daily wear...for me with my wrist size the medium band is just about as big as i could wear on a daily basis without the tail sticking out too far.)

    I’m a bit shocked that you picked up on the shifting time that displays on the always on screen, this is to prevent the burn in on the screen, I have been wearing a few watches that do this, you don’t notice it at all. This is a dive watch, I think if you want a fully fledged computer, buy a dive computer instead of a dive watch. I have been an instructor for over 30 years, I remember buying the Suunto stinger, I still have it and it’s still working 22 years later, Suunto know what they are doing when they make a dive watch. There are always niggles with new devices, they always work it out. While it has other sports on the watch this is primarily a dive watch.

    • @NARoutdoors
      @NARoutdoors Місяць тому

      Yeah i figured as much with the reason for the moving time display, its just something i noticed that irritates me (my apple watches with always on display did not have this issue) I also find it odd that for the always on time display it always shows a 10's digit for the hour but on my actual watch face display it does not. (08:23 vs 8:23). I feel like they could continue the variable display but constrain it within the limits of the digits already used and it wouldn't seem to shift so much. Regarding your point about this being a dive watch rather then a full fledged computer: i disagree. Suunto is absolutely marketing this as a full fledged dive computer and while for me it will be a backup to a Perdix for many it will be their only computer.

    • @ragetobe
      @ragetobe Місяць тому

      @@NARoutdoors I’ve had a lot of devices for diving, my opinion is that it cannot be a fully fledged diving computer because the screen simply isn’t big enough. If you are a serious diver this would only be for fun dives, I wouldn’t even consider it for anything technical. I’ve dived just about everything there is to dive, wrecks off Scotland on mixed gas to reefs in Australia on Air. This would be the watch I would take on Holiday to get a dive in while the family are by the pool and nothing more. At the price point it’s at I consider it cheap.

    • @NARoutdoors
      @NARoutdoors 27 днів тому

      @@ragetobe I would respectfully disagree: it is a fully fledged dive computer (especially if the rumored compass update is released) and will serve the needs of 90%+ of the dive community but it is very much a recreational dive computer that could do some very basic beginner tech diving (not a tech diver myself but i personally wouldn't---get a shearwater perdix for that).

    • @ragetobe
      @ragetobe 27 днів тому

      @@NARoutdoors I don’t care if you respectfully disagree or not, I’ll take my 30+ years of diving experience as an instructor over your need to produce content any day of the week. A dive computer just doesn’t look like a watch, perhaps back in the day it might have sufficed, as did the Suunto Stinger, which had no compass but was a very good dive watch. Not something you would use in to any sort of complicated or specialised diving. A car might be able to go 140mph, that doesn’t mean it should. By the way, even your title calls it a watch, which is exactly what it is.

      @@ragetobe Hey, it doesn't suit your specialized needs & thats ok. People who rack up your experience and dive specialized and complicated scenerios are undoubtedly going to be served by other options. While i've not gotten to dive it yet (I will post a dive specific review, right now i'm evaluating it as a watch and will post a watch specific review in 2 weeks or so) I believe that the compass is not available in dive mode. I am not sure if this is an oversight or intentional choice from suunto. I will also say it doesn't matter to me; having used multiple dive computers with digital compasses aside from merely being able to check a box saying i've got a compass they are not nearly as useful as you would imagine (they are all really hard to use). If i'm going to be doing something that needs navigation i'm going to use an analog compass. regarding information displayed in dive mode: yes it has the important things displayed all the time: depth, NDL, total time. a selectable display portion can cycle (via button press: you can lock this with a long button press) Tank pressure, consumption cuft/min, gas time remaining, safety stop, type of active gas, ppo2, temp, max depth, clock, and battery.
