I successfully installed 14.6.1 on my 2011 27” iMac, however, I have been unsuccessful with this on my 2013 27” iMac. I have upgraded both to 32GB of RAM, I mean, it is SO SO cheap to do so since it is so old. The 2011 runs like a dream! Thank you and all of the developers for all you do for the community and for providing these EXCELLENT tutorials! I have also successfully used this on a “Mid-2012 15” MacBook Pro w/Retna”. I was previously running Monterey, I used the UPGRADE and it worked great! I am now going to try to upgrade the 2013. I put it back to Catalina and am going to try the upgrade process on it. Wish me LUCK!
You have best MacOS Supported & Unsupported installation videos. Luv what your doing. I take your advice very seriously and it has benefited my business very well. Thank you for all you do and the developers its really helping saving old MacBooks & iMacs from the landfills. Keep up the great work!.
I watch the whole video because I want/need to know whats up as a just in case, but I do appreciate the chapter notes as in the case with your 2010 Mac pro. I was able to refer to a point and grab a decent cheap video card to get updated from High Sierra for mine. Thanks for helping keeping us in the know.
Hi I have successfully installed sonoma 14.6.1.0 on an external SSD 1Tb drive for my iMac 21"" (late 2013). So now I have a dual boot system, Catalina on the internal hard-drive and sonoma on the external drive. It works seamlessly. Many thanks.
Mid 2012 Macbook Pro w 15 inch screen and Intel i7-core (1 GB SSD; 16 GB Ram) came through the upgrade process “Ok” with OCLP 1.50 and Sonoma 14.6.0 … I am assuming version 14.6.1 has now been tested at your lab … I can then simply allow the Apple installer to take over and perform the update from 14.6.0 to 14.6.1 the only caveat being an additional run of the patching software’s “update driver” feature thereafter a successful upgrade from 14.6.0 to 14.6.1 😊 0:38
I can confirm that Sonoma 14.6.1 & OCLP 1.5.0 works perfectly fine on a mid 2010 iMac 27" without any mods. Love your work you put in to this and to make sure all things work out before us regular Joes go ahead and install these updates to our old systems.
mine is old MacBook 13in late 2009 8gig ram with SSD 500g dual core. Thanks it works in oclp 1.5.0 in os Monterey now it's updating to os Sonoma. Thanks to you and core legacy.
You are the bomb. The only issue I ran across was trying to figure out the option button. I know it sounds simple but I had to wait for the chime before I held the option button. have a late 2013 27" and thought I was just looking to upgrade to Monterey. Oh silly me. I needed to upgrade to Sonoma for app design into the new IOS'. Sonoma 14.6.1 with eyes pretty much closed. No issues. Thanks for all your help.
Hi @user-tq8xn8gr7b, I would love to know how you did it, as I've tried everything to do my iMac 21.5 2012 late and it just keeps saying "this update is not compatible with this computer? Did you have Catalina 10.15.7? Cheers Les
@@lesvogel5492 Hi, I was not running Catalina, I have been running open core for the past couple of years. Started with Ventura, then updated to Sonoma last year. What I do for each update, before I update via settings, I grab the associated KDK from GitHub, and install that prior to the performing the update. Has always worked perfectly for me with no errors. I have the same iMac as you. I also don’t boot from the internal drive. I partitioned an external SSD, Install the build file on the smaller partition, then install the newest update each time to the larger partition. I have never had any issues performing an update via settings as normal, as long as I install the latest KDK first.
If the separate videos work for you then keep doing it. I liked that the supported Sonoma one came out so quickly. Also love the chapters, even though I usually watch all the way through.
iMac late 2012, Core i5 8GB wasn't running well at all on sonoma so i had to downgrade to ventura. the screen would glitch out all the time, weird artifacts would happen, icons would disappear and not be touchable, disappearing icons would flash (like disappear/reappear). It is working good on ventura as of now tho
The same problem here, iMac 13.2 8GB 27", sometimes screen glitches etc. Tested with Sonoma and Sequoia both same problem installed with OLCP 2.02. Could it be a low memory issue?
I just updated from Sonoma 14.5 to Sonoma 14.6.1 on my Imac 11.3 (late 2010). Everything went well except the first login where entering the password was difficult due to the extremely slow system. Once I logged in and installed the Root Patches, everything went back to normal. Now the system is usable again with the updated OS.
Mr Macintosh, thank you for all the work you do for us and for helping to keep good machines out of eWaste. Your work combined with the OCLP developers is just above and beyond. I wont’t even upgrade my supported iMac M3 without first checking your videos. I now have an iMac 27” late 2012 and a 2013 MBP running 14.6 plus a Bootcamp partition thanks to your channel. One question if I may….can you clarify that I can move forward with MacOS updates via the system settings in the way you would with a supported Mac provided of course I always have the latest OCLP onboard? It really is a very long process to do it the long way each time although a small price to pay if that is the safest route. Thanks again for all you do for us 😊 Cheers from Down Under
Not surprisingly, MacBookPro 15.3" mid 2012, 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, Intel HD Graphics 4000 - works fine with 14.6.1. Updated from 14.5 and OCLP 1.5.0 applied patches automatically on first start up👍
I installed this on my 15" Late 2013 MacBook Pro, and I think it finally did-it-in. At the end of the night I closed my screen, I thought I had shut it down, but perhaps I didn't. When I woke up the next morning, I went to turn it on, and the bottom was very hot. I did a power cycle, it turns on, the screen is on, but it is blank with no apple logo. I did a few other key sequences but the only thing that I've been able to get to show up is a flashing gray folder with a question mark in it. And even that doesn't come up regularly. Is it dead? Did my hard drive fail? Did it cook itself? Your videos are great, and I love how comprehensive they are.
Hi Mr. Macintosh Sir. I have installed the 1.5.0 legacy patcher successfully on a non metal mid 2010/2011 27” iMac. But I have not seen any updates pop up on the screen. The latest update has 1.4.4.1 How can I get the 1.5.0 legacy patcher to update to 1.4.6.1? Thank you so much Gary ❤
Got a USB Speed warning afterwards with my 2012 15" MBP running Monterey. I have been using the laptop to copy files from an old external RAID-5 to a new external RAID-5. No warning before the update. Afterwards, a warning from CarbonCopyCloner that the USB speed was not up to snuff. As I am under time crunch, I switched my copy over to my main machine since it is the weekend and it is idle.
I've been having sleep/wake issues on my late 2013 Mac Pro since updating to 14.6.1. The computer goes to sleep and doesn't want to wake up. Only a force shutdown works.
Hi, I am not the only one, My mac is 2012, 5,1 running OCLP 1.5 and OS X 14.6.1, it can not wake up from sleep too. If you have any solution, please share it here in future, thanks.
Hello - Thanks for all the videos. I would like to format and do a fresh install on my 2021 MacBook Pro 16. How do I take my entire Mail and move it to an external drive? Just grab the mail folder and drag to my external drive? Also what else do I need to save ? Or cause I've done Time Machine. Do you have a video on fresh installs with Sonoma 14.6.1? I appreciate the help !
Hi! I went from Ventura 13.6.9 to Sonoma 14.6.1 with OCLP 1.5.0 and my 1password 7.9.4 started crashing. I couldn't get it to work. I tried re-signing and quarantining it but to no good. It was a clean install from a USB stick with restoration from a Time Machine backup. I wonder if anyone faced the same issue and knows a workaround.
Any luck running the post install root patch with a RX580 card on a Mac Pro 5.1 on Sonoma 14.6.1? I'm getting an "unable to build kernel cache" with detailed error specifying that there are missing symbols when linking for the said graphics card.
Mr. Macintosh - I have several “no longer” needed Macs that may be useful as part of your fleet. Where can I send a list (assuming you are interested).
New to all this, so sorry if I'm asking something available elsewhere...... 1. Do I just install the update via 'Software Update' section of System Settings, or do I do it through OCLP? 2. Have started noticing fans running more than expected AND ' iCloud syncing paused. Mac needs to cool down' on my Late 2015 iMac. Any idea if this would be related to running Sonoma on this machine?
I successfully upgraded my Late 2013 iMac (14,3) to Sonoma 14.6.1 from Ventura 13.6.9 using the clean install method in OCLP (1.5.0). I then attempted to upgrade a MacBook (8.1) using the same method. After booting the into the EFI partition of my Install USB I entered Sonoma recovery mode and choose Disk Utility to erase the system disk. Disk Utility showed that the Erase button was greyed out for the system disk (as well as all the partitions), so I was unable to continue with the clean install. So I reverted to the upgrade method. This also could not be done as the System Disk was not presented as a target for the upgrade. So, I cannot upgrade. Rebooted Ventura (which has been on this machine since 13.4), running Disk Utility from here showed the same status for the system disk, so I assume it has been that way for quite some time. Going back to my iMac and running Disk Utility shows that it’s system disk is now in the same state (I had erased it before the Sonoma install). So, I have two machines in the same state. Any advice how to proceed will be greatly appreciated.
Update: I built a new install USB disk using OCLP 1.4.3. When booted and into Sonoma recovery launching Disk Utility now has the Erase button highlighted and I was able to sucessfully install Sonoma on the MacBook. I now realise that when I updated my iMac to Sonoma I did that from OCLP 1.4.3 and subsequently updated it to 1.5.0. So there seems to some disparity in functionality between the two versions.
Oops😱 This afternoon I patched my iMac 27" 2017 with OCLP (supported by this channel) and now I have a MacOS version installed that shouldn't even exist... Sonoma 14.7! The version on my MBP M1 is still 14.6.1 and no update is offered. I also didn't find any references to 14.7 within the usual sources. So far everything is working as it should... 🤞🍀
Hi, I have a doubt. I upgraded to ventura 13.6.9 on my iMac 27" late 2013, last day. I can see a software update option in the system settings to update to Sonoma. Can I use that option? Or should I do the whole process of OCLP installation? (I have the latest 1.5.0 of OCLP installed)
have Macbook Pro 2011 (8,1) which has windows and macos sonoma 14.5 but no sound there is only cross on the sound and there is no output speaker showing but internal mic is available please help.....
does macbook pro 2016 shuts down bby itslef when put into sleep? another question, Does the booting animations change? like does it look like rooted booting up? or like a normal mac?
A quick quuestion, I updated my MacBook Pro 2012 9,2 (16gb ram and 500gb ssd) to Sonoma some months ago, I have noticed that with this new software my machine is slower and hotter. The fans go full speed even without apps open. Does Sonoma really require that much more cpu power than Ventura just to function?
oclp 1.5.0 iMac 27" 2013 not booting with ventura 13.6.9 or sonoma 14.6.1 when root patcehes applied, kexts are freezing up the boot, as soon as kexts are removed machine boots fine again. i dissabled system ingegrity protection but no joy. fresh installs no migration tried multiple times,. tried older oclp also and no joy so i reverted back to monterey.
This pair does not play well on my MacbookPro14,2 model (13" 2017 i5). When installing, then the user cannot change anything in the Privacy and Security and the OCLP Root Patch does not succeed and my WiFi adapter is no longer working. I had to install the 14.5 Sonoma version, then it worked. I cannot upgrade to 14.6.1 without screwing it up.
i have seen that you can dual boot an oclp versions of big sur, monterey, ventura, sonoma along with windows 10 or 11. But can you do a dual or multi boot of more then one macos? If possible does it just need partitions for each macos? I have mbp mid 2009 16gb ram 1tb.Thanks for any help.
I have successfully clean flashed 14.6.1 on my MacBook pro 15 mid 2015. Only 1 major annoying issue. It gets stuck at the lock screen if i put my MacBook to sleep. Any solutions? Rest all seems ok.
I've tried and tried to install these upgrades on my iMac 21.5 2012 late, and when I get to the last part, it's always saying my disk is "locked"? Or this update is not compatible with this computer!! Please help me successfully upgrade my computer as others have said they have done 🤔🤔. Cheers Les
Opencore 1.0.0.1 Sonoma 14.6.1 hackintosh Amd 5950x can not get zoom camera to work or audio, using latest itlwm kext . Is there a workaround to fix this ?
Help! Continuity Camera no longer works! it worked on 14.6 on my 2012 Macbook Pro. it does not work on 14.6.1! I am running the latest version of OCLP. Any ideas? I even plugged in/wired in my iphone.
I'm using a Macbook Pro 2015 and installed 14.6.1 through OpenCore Legacy Patcher, but now my Unity hub isn't able to open any project, I have tried reinstalling Unity hub and installing new Unity 2020 but this doesn't help as well Whenever I open any project it starts loading after loading unity crashes or doesn't proceed.. Any Solution?
Im having a wired problem after installing every macos with open core. For example Im finishing my work and i put the laptop screen down. When I open it again after a few hours, it boots up like I've shut it down. So it doesn't sleep. Any solution please ?
Hello i have the 2012 macbook pro 13 inch running the sonoma 14.6.1 its running a little slow i installed the ssd 1tb and 16gb ram im running the betas and its telling me to update to sequoia do you recommend the sequoia
I just attempted to update from 14.5 to 14.6.1 on a MacBook Pro 7,1 and I keep getting the screen that says “An error occurred preparing the software update”. I cleared the NVRAM and attempted to install the update again and it kept failing. I even wiped my SSD and did a clean install. Still the same error message. In total, I made 5 attempts to get this update installed and all have failed. Is this update bugged? Am I doing something wrong? I never had this problem with any past Sonoma updates.
For anyone who have encountered this issue: An error occurred while preparing your installation. I think I found the answer I also had this issue. - Step one was to reboot to last Time Machine. - step two new down load of ocp and Sonoma install. - step three do a clean wipe of your hard drive Important step when When you do the last accept to install Sonoma on your hard drive I held and hold (SHIFT) until the install started. Now the error message came back up again while I was on my second restart of the install, if this happens what I did was shut off the laptop restarted it and held the SHIFT button until the apple screen and the installation restarted on its own and everything went smooth after and I was able to install Sonoma on my late 2011 mbp
it updated flawlessly, but TV app is crash now, Catalina is the only os run flawlessly, all apple apps, TV, mail, photos running smoothly. But this sonoma could not wake up the mac once put to slept, TV app no longer able to import personal clips, In contrast, Catalina's TV app can handle mkv files whithout any single problem. I just want to find out it is the OCLP problem or the Apple's problem. Anybody has similar experience, please leave me a comment.
Hi, I really need your help. I tried installing Ventura using OCLP 1.5.0 on my iMac 27" (late 2013) running on Cataline 10.15.7, following your latest video on that topic. Everything went fine to a point. I booted into EFI, then selected install ventura, then selected disk utility, and tried to erase my HDD. But at around 25% of the erase process, it got stuck, and the cursor became that rainbow circling thingy. It stayed that way for some time, then I lost my power, and I had to restart the Mac. When it restarted, the 2nd screen after EFI (with only HDD and ventura installer) appeared. I selected the ventura installer, and after showing "examining volumes", that window says that my Mac has no admins to authenticate. I tried it multiple times. Then I went back and selected my HDD, but it is stuck in the boot screen, with the apple logo and a bar. (The bar update is at the very beginning and is stuck there.
I have a small problem if not everyone. Apple TV does not play Movies/TV Shows, Only show the Apple TV intro then shows black screen and no sound to show it is not playing.
I have 14.6 on My Mac Mini late 2014, 8 GB ram and 2 TB SSD. Opencore 1.5.0. It usually works Ok, but sometimes the apps (mail, safary, Chrome, whatsapp, etc). start to crash and I have to reboot the system. Any advice?
I had a problem installing 14.6 and now 14.6.1 on my Macbook Pro 15' mid 2014, in the process my computer got stuck with the white logo on the last step. I had to shut it down after 40 minutes waiting to comeback and it stayed on the first screen. Then I had to restart on safe mode, and thats when an error document page for apple came out saying window server had shut down. I imagine that's what happened on both 14.6 and 14.6.1 because it was the same process. After restarting on safe mode and passing that error page, everything came smoothly, I installed the root patches and when I restarted checked that I already was on the 14.6.1. OCLP 1.5.0 was normal and no problems at all. But my concern is if there is like a problem with window server with OCLP with this kind of Mac. I checked on the discord and no one has had the same problem. Any thoughts???
Hi, I've just downloaded the latest version of open core legacy patcher. I'm going to upgrade my 2011 Imac to Sonoma. When i open the open core legacy patcher app: the Post-Install Root Patch button is greyed out. Is this normal ? Is there a link where I can download the High Sierra installer as a backup ? Thanks for your help.
Hey, I have a macbook pro 13 inch 2016 and I was wondering if you could tell me how to fix it. I can't root patch because of the wifi but I can't connect to the wifi because it doesn't show any other wifi when clearly there's wifi. My background is all black and everything looks miniaturize. Thank you.
I tried to do the update on my map late 2011 1t 16g i7, I did all the step and unfortunately I got this: An error accord while preparing installation. Please restart process. And I wipe my drive install
I have a MacBook Pro 5,4 (mid 2009) and after installing Sonoma 14.6 the wireless mouse no longer recognizes the left mouse button. I tried several mouse and trackpad settings but the only thing that works is if I set the Secondary Click on the mouse to "Click left Side" then I can use the right mouse button. I can then use the control key to get the standard right mouse click. Does anyone know how I can get the left mouse button to be recognized?
Hi, Thank you Mr. Macintosh. I successfully installed macOS 14.6.1 (via OCLP 1.5.0) on my 2009 flashed 5,1 Mac Pro. I'm leaving a few notes based on my upgrade process (based on my average computer skills). -------------- #1) DANGER ... I unintentionally destroyed my first successful Sonoma upgrade. In "Mac Pro" bay one: macOS "High Sierra". In "Mac Pro" bay two: macOS Sonoma. Upon booting up into "High Sierra" I got an "incompatible disk" error. This "incompatible disk" is the Sonoma OS (disk). I'm guessing "High Sierra" OS moved some of the Sonoma system files to mitigate the issue. This fatally altered the Sonoma OS. Now, the boot menu EFI Boot points to "SonomaOs - Data" instead of "SonomaOs". Meaning; "SonomaOs - Data" replaced "SonomaOs" inside the boot-picker (SonomaOs is no longer accessible). For me, it seems dual booting will NOT work (when using OCLP 1.5 & Sonoma). I must manually exchange the bay drive sleds to switch between OS's. Above: Keeping in mind, I'm not highly experienced. -------------- #2) During the OCLP Sonoma installation process, "Disk Utility" may change its disk numbering assignments. Before OCLP places its EFI content, OCLP asks which disk to install on. This disk number assignment may have changed during the OS install process. I have multiple drives that can (appear to) look identical in OCLP drive picker. Just before placing the EFI content on the host computer's drive, use Disk Utility to verify to correct disk number assignment. If I did not do this, I would have chosen the wrong drive (for EFI content), because it's "Disk Utility" disk numbering assignments changed. -------------- #3) If the Sonoma install process indicates the USB mouse cannot be found, toggle between having the mouse plugged into the USB3 card or a computer native USB2 port. The same regarding the USB installer flash-drive. During the Sonoma installation process, I had to swap between my USB non-native 3 and native 2 ports. It seems (upon bootup), my native USB2 ports are detected before (and more reliably) before my non-native USB3 ports. For me, I had to place my (Sonoma installer) USB3 flash drive into (one of) my native USB2 ports. Also; OCLP did not ask my to install "Kernel Debug Kit 14.6.1 build 23G93 (KDK)". Above: So I manually ran the KDK installer. I believe the KDK improved how my Mac works with Sonoma. -------------- #4) During this process I learned; The USB installer flash-drive can be plugged in DURING boot-picker mode. When I did not see my USB Sonoma installer icon in my boot-menu, I (simply) moved my flash-drive from my non-native USB3 port to my native USB2 port. The USB Sonoma installer icon (then) appeared. I continued with my Sonoma installation. --------------
@@yjcyu Hi, #1) Yes my "Apple Tv" works. I've never used it before. I (just now) accepted the "Apple Tv" seven day trial. I played a few minutes of a movie on my 2009 Mac Pro. #2) Yes, I could wake my mac Pro 2009 up from a two minute sleep. I don't know if the following makes a difference; In System Settings > Energy Saver: a) Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off: ACTIVE. b) Put hard disks to sleep when possible: NOT active. I set the other two settings to: NOT active. - - - - - - - - - #3) Just a note (maybe not relevant). In 2021, I had a Mac expert fully optimize (bring up to date) my firmware+. The Mac expert examined my Mac Pro (via data I sent to him), then he created patches and I ran his patches. The Mac expert has me flash (empty) my bootROM every three months. Meaning, my Mac Pro (and Apple services) see my Mac Pro as brand new. The Mac expert told me; if my (small capacity) bootROM ever filled up, my Mac Pro won't make it to the boot-picker mode. The only way to (then) fix my Mac Pro would be to physically replace the bootROM part. The Mac expert told me; newer Macs have a bootROM larger capacity. Above: Because of my limited experience, I may have mis-explained a few things. - - - - - - - - - Some of my Mac Pro specs: Mac Pro (early 2009), flashed to 5,1 processors: 2 x 3.46GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon (Westmere-EP, I replaced my original Nehalem processors) ram: 64GB 1333MHz DDR3 ECC (8 x 8GB) graphics card: Radeon RX580 8GB for Mac (AMD Chipset) Above: Not compatible to Mavericks macOS but worked good enough for me. August 2024: My macOS for legacy applications is "High Sierra" instead of Mavericks. Above: This graphics card is compatible to "High Sierra" macOS. bluetooth: 4.0 (compatible to Mavericks+ macOS) WiFi upgrade Kit ; 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac hard-drives: 2 x 1.0TB OWC Mercury Electra 6G SATA 2.5-inch SSD hard-drive: 250GB OWC Mercury Electra 6G SATA 2.5-inch SSD USB3: PCI-E to Type C (2), Type A (3) USB 3.0 5-Port PCI Express Expansion Card with Internal USB 3.0 - - - - - - - - - I hope your Mac experiences go well :)
Hey all. I am new at this, and need so clarification. I have MacBook Pro 13 Early 2015. I have installed OCLP 1.5.0 and running Sonoma 14.5. In order to upgrade to 14.6.1, what are the steps I need to do besides backup and making sure FileVault is on? Do I simply go to Software Update and click 'Update Now' and let it install and I am finished? Thanks in advance'
Regarding your video “Install macOS Sonoma on Unsupported Macs EASY (Step-by-step Guide) Question/Help (please) I successfully installed macos Sonoma 14.6.1 on imac 21.5-inch, Mid 2010 core i3 and 12GB Ram using openCore Patcher 1.5 following exact instructions till I arrived to the Minute 24:00 of that video. Now I tried to erase all contents and settings to reinstall it again after using my imac for a while, and it says “Erase assistant cannot erase this Mac because the system has been modified. Reinstall macOS to use Erase Assistant”. So, I tried to install it again using the same USB drive that already has macOS Sonoma and macOS High Sierra like the one created in this video, but whenever I reboot the system in order to reach the same recovery mode /boot menu, I don’t see the two Efi boot shown in minute 16:52. I can only see Install macOS Sonoma and macOS High Sierra yellow drives and I don’t even have the chance to choose one of them because the system continues loading to the login window automatically. So I launched the Patcher again and guessed to press on “Build and Install OpenCore” to prepare my drive to see the EFI Boot option again, but whenever I restart the system and hold the option key, I just see the two yellow drives (Sonoma & Sierra) and I don’t see the EFI Boot option nor I have the chance to select one of the yellow drives as it continues loading to the login page automatically. So my question is, how do i make a fresh installation of Sonoma or downgrade to Sierra while the Patcher doesn’t allow me to do so? Notes: 1. imac now runs slower than usual compared to High Sierra 2. I’m a normal/new/beginner level user of mac. Thank you
Solution: I realized that I shouldn’t restart. Instead, shutdown mac then turn it on while holding down the option key. Now i can see the EFI boot option.
Now, after I successfully reached the EFI boot option l, erased my disk, pressed on Install macOS Sonoma, it kept installing and loading till it reached this message: “An error occurred preparing the software update”. Now there is a window open and is written Choose Startup Disk.
I'm currently on somona 14.5 with your help you brought my MacBook back to life it used to lag and run into a lot of errors with softwear as a music producer ever since I upgraded my mac has been quicker and sharper then ever thankyou just didn't see my model covered in the video just wanted to clarify
Always the unwritten truth from Mr. Macintosh. Thanks you sir and cheers.
I'm thankful for the chapter notes, great work
I watch the whole video because I want/need to know whats up as a just in case, but I do appreciate the chapter notes as in the case with your 2010 Mac pro.
You keep our old systems alive, all I have done is to upgrade my HHD to an SSD a few years ago and it just works...thank you sir.
I did update but now the iTunes(music) doesn’t work it opens and closes immediately. I can’t use Music anymore. Help someone

mine is old MacBook 13in late 2009 8gig ram with SSD 500g dual core. Thanks it works in oclp 1.5.0 in os Monterey now it's updating to os Sonoma. Thanks to you and core legacy.
2010 27" IMAC 11.3. 1TB SSD + 16GB RAM now running 14.6.1.with KDK update. I now have some additional useful life. thanks so much.
2012 iMac up and running with 14.6.1, update was smooth and quick, as usual Thank you very much
Hi @user-tq8xn8gr7b, I would love to know how you did it, as I've tried everything to do my iMac 21.5 2012 late and it just keeps saying "this update is not compatible with this computer?
Just updated my 'aging' 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 to 14.6.1. Flawless as usual. Think I'll keep it

2009 and 2011 imac 27" is working well with 14.6.1 with open core legacy patcher 1.5.0
Early 2008 Mac Pro up and running with 14.6.1. Updates for 14.6 & 14.6.1 went smoothly and only required re-patching with OCLP.
What about performance?
iMac late 2012, Core i5 8GB wasn't running well at all on sonoma so i had to downgrade to ventura. the screen would glitch out all the time, weird artifacts would happen, icons would disappear and not be touchable, disappearing icons would flash (like disappear/reappear). It is working good on ventura as of now tho
I have the same experience with Sonoma on a late 2013 iMac (14.3)
Same expereince on the same model
The same problem here, iMac 13.2 8GB 27", sometimes screen glitches etc. Tested with Sonoma and Sequoia both same problem installed with OLCP 2.02. Could it be a low memory issue?
Macbook pro mid 2012 13" 2.9GHz 16 GB ram has been updated successfully without any issues so far to 14.6.1 using Software Updated.
Thanks again for all you do for us 😊
Cheers from Down Under
Not surprisingly, MacBookPro 15.3" mid 2012, 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, Intel HD Graphics 4000 - works fine with 14.6.1. Updated from 14.5 and OCLP 1.5.0 applied patches automatically on first start up👍
I am having macbook pro 2012 and mac mini 2012 both updated yesterday and they are working fine
Mr. Macintosh, truly appreciate what you do, thank you.
Thanks, sonoma 14.6.1 just perfectly works on MacBook Pro early 2011 8,1 only stage manager not working all other os working smoothly
Already updated on my MacBook pro 2014 all is well 👍

Got a USB Speed warning afterwards with my 2012 15" MBP running Monterey. I have been using the laptop to copy files from an old external RAID-5 to a new external RAID-5. No warning before the update. Afterwards, a warning from CarbonCopyCloner that the USB speed was not up to snuff.

I'm sticking to Monterey on my macbook pro mid 2009, Ventura and Sonoma don't work well on my system
Sure wish you had the mid 2015 15" MBP...
I thought that you had previously been testing on a MBA?
Update:
I built a new install USB disk using OCLP 1.4.3.

For anyone who have encountered this issue:
An error occurred while preparing your installation. I think I found the answer I also had this issue.
- Step one was to reboot to last Time Machine.
- step two new down load of ocp and Sonoma install.
- step three do a clean wipe of your hard drive
Important step when
When you do the last accept to install Sonoma on your hard drive I held and hold (SHIFT) until the install started.
Now the error message came back up again while I was on my second restart of the install, if this happens what I did was shut off the laptop restarted it and held the SHIFT button until the apple screen and the installation restarted on its own and everything went smooth after and I was able to install Sonoma on my late 2011 mbp
This did not work for me. Got the same screen every time

Thanks in advance
it updated flawlessly, but TV app is crash now, Catalina is the only os run flawlessly, all apple apps, TV, mail, photos running smoothly.
Could you trick it into apple inelegance??
I would recommend you go into recovery mode (Command + R) choose reinstall macos, to get your mac running again.
I have a small problem if not everyone. Apple TV does not play Movies/TV Shows, Only show the Apple TV intro then shows black screen and no sound to show it is not playing.
Thats a known issue its the same for everyone something to do with digitsl rights management not working
Dont use sidecar.

Hi, Thank you Mr. Macintosh.
I successfully installed macOS 14.6.1 (via OCLP 1.5.0) on my 2009 flashed 5,1 Mac Pro.
I'm leaving a few notes based on my upgrade process (based on my average computer skills).
--------------
#1) DANGER ...
--------------
#2) During the OCLP Sonoma installation process, "Disk Utility" may change its disk numbering assignments.
Before OCLP places its EFI content, OCLP asks which disk to install on.
This disk number assignment may have changed during the OS install process.
I have multiple drives that can (appear to) look identical in OCLP drive picker.
Just before placing the EFI content on the host computer's drive,
use Disk Utility to verify to correct disk number assignment.
If I did not do this, I would have chosen the wrong drive (for EFI content),
because it's "Disk Utility" disk numbering assignments changed.
--------------
#3) If the Sonoma install process indicates the USB mouse cannot be found,
toggle between having the mouse plugged into the USB3 card or a computer native USB2 port.
--------------
#4) During this process I learned;
The USB installer flash-drive can be plugged in DURING boot-picker mode.
When I did not see my USB Sonoma installer icon in my boot-menu,
I (simply) moved my flash-drive from my non-native USB3 port to my native USB2 port.
The USB Sonoma installer icon (then) appeared.
I continued with my Sonoma installation.

Hi, thanks your detailed shares, can i know (1) Does your apple tv apps works? (2) Could you wake up your Mac from sleep?
@@yjcyu Hi, #1) Yes my "Apple Tv" works. I've never used it before. I (just now) accepted the "Apple Tv" seven day trial. I played a few minutes of a movie on my 2009 Mac Pro.
#2) Yes, I could wake my mac Pro 2009 up from a two minute sleep.
I don't know if the following makes a difference;
In System Settings > Energy Saver:
a) Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off: ACTIVE.
b) Put hard disks to sleep when possible: NOT active.
I set the other two settings to: NOT active.
- - - - - - - - -
#3) Just a note (maybe not relevant).

Some of my Mac Pro specs:

Above: Not compatible to Mavericks macOS but worked good enough for me.

Above: This graphics card is compatible to "High Sierra" macOS.

Will It work in a Mac pro 2010 with SSD and 32 GB and Nvidia 780 gtx 3 GB? I have USB 3.0 card too
Regarding your video “Install macOS Sonoma on Unsupported Macs EASY (Step-by-step Guide)
Question/Help (please)
I successfully installed macos Sonoma 14.6.1 on imac 21.5-inch, Mid 2010 core i3 and 12GB Ram using openCore Patcher 1.5 following exact instructions till I arrived to the Minute 24:00 of that video.
Notes:
1. imac now runs slower than usual compared to High Sierra
2. I’m a normal/new/beginner level user of mac.
Thank you

I realized that I shouldn’t restart.
Updated mine NP
