Do we all realize and appreciate how much of their live shit Metallica put online with great audio and video? I say thank you..
i swear to god that metallica mondays are the best thing that ever happened to me in this quarantine
Yes! Absolutely!
Amei 🌷😘❤
Exactly this! We are so lucky with how interactive they are with us
because we've all heard the same shit for decades, it has no value anymore
Metallica trending on UA-cam is probably the most optimistic thing about the world right now
Personally, the quarantine really gave me the opportunity to get into them, especially the older hard stuff.

My son-in-law passed at 33 in 2012 leaving a wife and a 6 months old son behind. His favourite music was Nothing Else Matters which I personnally discovered at his funerals. Every now and then when I think of Phil, within a delay of 24 to 48 hours, the radio plays it. Phil is still around and wants us to know he's around. I love that music, I love Metallica and yes, I love you Phil as we all do!
may he rest in peace
Wish I knew him . . . as you do.
Same thing goes for my dad, he absolutely loved Queen, and every time I think of him, the radio plays a Queen song
This comment gave me chills. Hope you're doing well 🙏
Go see jungle cruise in the cinema. Trust me you wont regret it. After the movie you understand why I told you this. I also reckon your son in law would of loved it
Elton John has said Nothing Else Matters is one of the greatest songs ever written. Now guys.....thats something.
And seeing James' reaction when Elton said it too. He was genuinely moved.
It's a love song and is amazing.
@@rick_fortune Well, be honest. It IS one of the greatest songs of all time, and having that 'confirmed' by a TITAN of the music Industry: no one less then Sir Elton John himself, is an incredible show of respect and reckognition to one of thé most legendary bands in music history.
It is truly one of the most brilliant songs I have ever heard.
Elton John sings pop diarrhea that he doesn't even write, that's hardly an endorsement, plus he's got paedo art in his house and is protected by the royals like most paedos
I love Metallica more than anything.. Metallica's music saved me

The best version of "Nothing Else Matters" the World has ever seen, and will ever see.
You don't just listen to this, you feel it. You live it!
“I can’t stand hearing Nothing Else Matters again. Metallica has other great songs...”
Metallica starts playing it
“Dude, this is amazing! (crying with arms up)”
But this song is lame, i mean, it's an masterpiece for its self, but not for Metal fact
You're not wrong. I'm sick of that song..... per se, but then they play it live, especially when you are there....it's maximum lighters in the air epic tears down the eyes shit! Then next day I'm like "they totally cudda played No Remorse instead of that" 😆😆😆
It's a gateway song into Metallica imo. When you get a taste for their heavier and thrashier songs, NEM sounds like another radio friendly song. But, with all that said, I think NEM doesn't deserve the hate it gets. I fucking love it and have so many memories with it... so yeah. It's a song we love to hate but still secretly love it
@@nikbinaz and there is nothing wrong with radio friendly songs, Yes this includes pop music, regardless how you personally feel, its undeniable many many people enjoy mainstream music from the hair metal of the 80s to the dance pop of the early 2010s to whatever new genre is popular now, there is nothing inherently wrong with the music, someone can like the most brutal, death and black metal fusion bands and the catchiest, most upbeat, most produced, simplest pop songs at the same time, Personally the harshest im willing to go is Metallica and hardcore punk but i still love a lot of pop songs and artists. So a song is not objectively good or bad no matter who listens to it or how many people have heard of it.
Yeah, but you know what... at the time, at that point in metal, and at the point in their career, releasing that song was pretty ballsy of them. James wrote this kind of love song about his girlfriend, and the guys knew they were going to get crucified for going soft if they released the thing. Risked losing cred in the midst of a who-can-shred-faster-and-make-more-eardrums-bleed climate, and perhaps get re-sorted into the fluff, commercial Hair Band power ballad bucket of the time. It would have been a lot "safer" for them to shelf this one. The fact that they can nail this, then Puppets in the next breath... These guys are gifted, true to themselves, all in, and make no apologies. They grew up along with us, yet their creations from decades past still stand. Including NEM. I don't know about you, but that's a lot more than I can say about anything I've done over the past several decades. I am still in awe of them today.
If you like, I can loan you my lighter and a spare Kleenex next time they come around. It can be our little secret. ;O)
S&M is like the coolest thing a rock band has ever done live.
Facts
*Heavy metal
@@vodkita3980* thrash metal (or atleast used to be)
Hmm, I feel Pink Floyd might be more entitled to that. But S&M is very very cool.
Ever heard of Brian Setzer Orchestra? Give em a listen. Its basically Stray Cats and Brian Setzer solo songs with a badass orchestra!
& I love this part of Metallica. Different but so cool!
Metallica isn't just some head banging, hard rock-metal you just shout and jump to, it also carries a lot of emotion. One reason why they're one of the best.
Strange, but I still admire that. I just can't believe how a rock band be actual for tens of years. That's majestic
Agreed 🌟
Just like how symphonies and classical music did for centuries
This is my generations Led Zepplin or Beatles. Most bands dont make it past 5 years nowadays. Their Cd Master of Puppets has been preserved in the library of congress. 1st metal band to do that. Grew up listening to this band and will till the day I die.
Integrity
I heard not sure how true it is but I heard that they never got along well
The crowd singing at the end, instant tears my guys.

This song and their music in general has been there for me through so many different times of my life. This might be the best version of Nothing Else Matters in my opinion.
Kirk's intro was heartwarming,James's voice was incredible and his solo was a gift to every soul present during this performance.lars's drumming was passionate and rob's bass fill every void in this beautiful song. This is the best live performance i've ever seen and it make me sincerely shed so much tear.Thank god for Metallica and long live the legend
I too shed a tear. This performance was magical!
You should check out the original S&M version too, that one almost made me cry...
It's so unusual hearing James sing "and nothing else matters" himself live lol. I'm so used to hearing him give that part to the audience.
The same happened in Master of Puppets. He also sang the rest of the lyrics that are always intented to be sung by the crowd.
he has only done that a couple times
Agreed. And then to save only one, the final one that they sometimes skip live, for the crowd with a simple wave of his hand... fudging chills
He sounded great! Remember he was battling his demons again during this.
What, when was this a thing? He pretty much always sang it.
I feel like James played that end solo here better than he has since S&M 1. Killer performance all around.
but he sing worse...

For me, I would be asleep, since the concert would be live at 6:30 AM for me. Interestingly enough, I’m in the same time zone as San Francisco right now, so the guys probably have to walk up like 3-4 AM to prepare, or just not sleep. This could also just be a “live” video that was already prerecorded but would have it’s own premiere to give the appearance of a live show, but I highly doubt that being the case. Various other factors also matter.

Do we realize for how many years Metallica perform live at the highest level packing stadiums and playing almost 2-hour-long setlists of such demanding songs every single night? Making every single show a life experience for every single person in the crowd. Anyone that has been in one understands what I mean. Greatest band of all time.

To me this is a merge of the beauty and the beast , it will be our wedding song, Metallica represents me and how I overcame everything life through at me even during some dark times when nobody else could be there , the orchestra represents my fiance how she brings peace , with no judgement, her beauty , a true angel, how we are 1 as couple , I love u Nicole

RIP Michael Kamen. Never forget him from S&M1!
5:00 James touches my heart
No surprise how well a symphony fits with their music as there has always been so much classical influence in everything they have done.
From 4 guys jamming in a garage as kids to this. Quite something. God bless you boys!
Guys, you've said it all. So he will only add one thing: how wonderful is Rob's bass sound?

No autotune like S&M1, just pure 100% James. Love it.
The original S&M used quite a bit of autotune
Metallica don't do that shit bro
@@rajamcraja yes they do. As in almost every modern production
There is auto tune here. EVERYONE uses auto tune and have used analog variations of it (more or less) since the 70’s. The post pro on this video is very good. But there were actually four performances from which to draw audio and video - the 2 live sets, plus two full dress rehearsals. If you’ve ever ever done post pro work you can see and hear some of the places where the ambient audio of the vocal is ever so slightly different from the previous phrase. Granted, it’s still quite good. I also believe there may we’ll be some vocals and notes and such that were even added outside the four performances. If they didn’t get a decent take from the four you can guarantee Hetfield hit the studio and re-recorded them. This, along with the pandemic, is likely why the release was pushed forward from the original release date of Feb. Don’t get me wrong, I’m the biggest fanboy in the world here, and we flew out to see this show, and they are really good, I’m just pointing out reality. They wanted a world class release of this is both audio and video. They weren’t taking chances. Most of James’ vocals from night one were probably scrapped. He was having some serious throat issues especially in the first half of the set.
Well at the end of the day, even if there is a little bit of autotune, it's not as blatantly obvious as S&M1 did
Whoever mixed this did an incredible job
god mixed this !!,sounds incredible
2024, still and always will love this band!
I love this song, it’s so true, we should love ourselves first!
Fade to Black and The Unforgiven would have sounded cool with the orchestra.
And Sanitarium

They did play The Unforgiven 😊
@@jesperda I think he meant The Unforgiven 1
Just wait until you hear The Day That Never Comes, probably my favorite song from the first night, Sept 6th, Lars finishes the song strong, it was epic.
I don't care about all the Larsisms Lars put into this song, this version is just beautiful.
“Larsisms”!!! Using this! And this has become the definitive version of the song
When you have greatness, you will have ego. Most of the time Lars is correct in his assessments, it's just that most players do not want to face judgement the way he has. They use to tell Metallica they were a total shit band when they started, and their(Lar's) ego was one of the only thing that kept them fighting the world. With the good comes the bad, but I consider Lars justified in his opinions, and until I pull down a couple of world tours and $100 million dollars, I don't think I have the right to argue against him.
RATATATA
If you haven't heard what Elton John has to say about this song, do yourself a favor and search the video of them on Howard Stern. This is simply a timeless classic, James' songwriting is unmatched in hard rock/heavy metal of the last 40 years.
5:36 GOOSEBUMPS, SIMPLY GOOSEBUMPS
I know I’ve said this already but Nothing Else Matters hasn’t sounded this freaking good live in almost 30 years. James’ vocals are phenomenal and the whole band really killed it with their performance!

Absolutely right!
I thought I'm the only one felt that..
It is exquisite.
I like James' vocals so much more on these shows, compared to the original S&M! Just stunning! Also so happy they played the outro!

As a person who has seen their live show, I can tell you, there were at least 100-200 people who cried at the end of this song.
Bro even I'm crying after watching this for the 65327 time
when I saw them live in Munich 2 years ago and they played this song, damn i couldn't stop crying. like they somehow put the icing on the cake with how they play the ending live and especially how they did it in munich. it's no different than this version but it hit me so hard.
