Check out their song "Wake Up". You'll recognize it from the Matrix movies.
Soooooo... yeah, RATM has a message that was as pertinent then as it is now... especially in the last few weeks of more police shootings. Definitely have the Lyrics pulled up and you'll LOVE this band. The singer also collabed with KRSone and spits fire 🔥
ua-cam.com/video/aTL4qIIxg8A/v-deo.html you know rage from matrix as well
Yeah this song was in an old tony hawk
Wake up from Rage Against the machine
This song came out during the Rodney King riots. Very powerful song!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Funny how the more things change they more they stay the same. Extreme media dishonesty and race-baiting hucksterism back then led to riots/murder/looting for months on end, and here we are today getting ready for a second straight summer of violent rioting/looting/murders, again thanks to that same dishonest media pushing a false narrative to cover for the historical sins of a % of their ancestors as well as to drum up easy business. It's the equivalent of a cop setting up a 'sting operation' as a make-work project.
It did not come out during the riots. The riots were from April 29, until May 4th 1992. The song was released in November 1992.
@@GeekFurious my bad dude, a few months after the riots.🤦🏼♀️
Yes, more Rage Against the machine please.
@@neworld2114 You know, internet addiction is very real and there are ways to get help. Social media addiction, which I fear you may suffer from, is said to be similar to heroin addiction and I'm not about to sit here and make fun of you for being a junkie.
I can see some red flags in your comments though and I encourage you to talk to someone, and disconnect as well. We can all use periods of internet-free life.
Anyway bro, all the best.
Rage never did music without a purpose. You could pretty much go through their entire catalog of lyrics and get the message without ever listening to the music. The music was just the vehicle for the message.
Well put, much ❤️
I couldn't have said it better myself! "It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime. What better place than here, what better time than now? All Hell can't stop us now!"
and Paul Ryan could listen to the music without getting the message :D
It's always great to see the realization in the face of people when they figure it out.... 😂😂
The whole album is a masterpiece, and is a must listen, The album cover is a real picture of a Buddhist Monk, Quang Duc burning to death in 1966 in protest against the killing of 9 people by the Vietnam army on Buddha's birthday.
I love you for your words. I'm an old granny from Britain and love this. Stand for freedom resist tyranny
@@luvlife6347 ❤
When this came out my teenage son made me listen to it start to finish and read the lyrics and I was blown away I still love it and I'm 65 what a great chorus I used to scream it in the clubs so no one could hear cuz it was so loud.
We need them to reunite.... they're more relevant today than ever...
They were supposed to go on tour in 2020 but the pandemic stopped that.
@@GeekFurious Yeah, I had tix and was pumped to see them. Damn COVID!
Need them to play on the streets of America if that cop doesn’t get convicted of murder of George Floyd
They just released their North American tour dates last week.
YES!!!!!
I love this song, but it makes me sad that it stays so relevant because so many years later it is still happening today. :(
RATM is amazing. Not many bands can have a strong message while keeping a catchy tune
Zack isn’t spaced out, he’s getting ready to spit fire 🔥
This album was released just after Rodney King was beaten by police in LA. Please watch the lyric videos from them, this rabbit hole runs incredibly deep! Try "Take the Power Back" and "Know Your Enemy"!
Fun fact: this is a Christmas song in the UK
Word is they're going to get back together. I hope so. They are the best protest band out there
The band originally wanted the lyric to be “some of those that hold office are the same that burn crosses” but their label made them change it
It's still accurate
So they kept basically the same line lol they trolled??
They sing that in some live sets, and I'm pretty sure it's on the live at the grand Olympic album.
It wasn't that the music label made them change it. They flipped back and forth when writing it, but decided "work forces" (police brutality) was a stronger, closer to home message then "hold office". They switch back and forth in live concerts, but someone had asked Tom Morello about it.
they sing that line live. :)
I love the fact that you did research after listening to their song. I watched multiple reaction videos and often times they don’t research the band after listening to their song.
Almost every Rage song has a message! And their library is epic! Put their song list on a wheel and spin it, you will land on a great song!
A song ahead of its time.
As always a great reaction.
He is sending a message and we need more of it. It’s so sad 30 years since this song came out. Where are the protest now?
Great reaction, You must check out " Know Your Enemy" and "Wake Up"
I would LOVE to see you guys react to more Rage songs (with the lyrics in front of you) knowing that this was back in the 90’s, back when nobody was talking about this stuff.
AHH Yeah!!!!!!...Rage is one of the most awakening protest and revolution bands of the 90's....you gotta do Bulls on Parade! Staci said raging against the machine. lol 90-94 was a music revolution such as when it happened from 67=70
My favorite 2 songs from RATM are calm like a bomb, bulls on parade
Thanks guys. Of course we want more RATM. Maybe "Down Rodeo"? For this band it is good to have lyrics pulled up or do a lyric video when possible.
Wow, dudes, it's Rage! If you only know of this tune and this band through a video game, you've quite an adventure ahead of you. Happy explorations!
ALL of their music is this way, and you will love them!
The ending is the greatest. I still remember when this came out almost30 yrs ago. I can't believe how long and still trying to change
We got this song to Xmas No1 in 2009 over here in the UK, knocked Simon Cowells X Factor winner off the top and then Rage done a free gig at Hyde Park in London! ✊✊✊✊
You need to do the lyric video. The lyrics are very important to all Rage songs.
React to Rage Against the Machine - Bulls On Parade
They did a concert in germany just after the wall was taken down. There's videos of it on youtube. It's amazing!!
You guys would also love Guerilla Radio
Edit: Also a song by RATM
That would be a good one to react to, along with Bulls On Parade and Know Your Enemy!
Se me escapa una lágrima pensando en esa canción.
YES!!! MESSAGE! LYRICS! You’ll get it then. The music is original and innovative, but the messages in their music must be heard and passed along. Especially now.
RATM is the perfect example of a band AGAINST SYSTEM!!!!! all the lyrics have a deep message of freedom...
Rage Against the Machine was formed to give voice to the voiceless, to speak to power, and to bring to the spotlight what everyone in the 90's just preferred not to see. They sang about systemic racism, wage slavery, corporate greed, war mongering, American imperialism, and political complicity and corruption *30 YEARS AGO*. And what they say is still relevant today which is devastating and sad.
I'm really happy you found RATM ... and I think you will really enjoy their music. It is crazy powerful. My faves are Sleep Now in the Fire, Down Rodeo (as in Rodeo Drive), and Wake Up. Gotta read the lyrics... they are amazing ...
PLEASE watch them live at Pink Pop 1993 Bullet in the head. Amazing energy. Zack is a genius
Favorite version of the song!
Eyyy
My absolute favorite!!!! Never get tired of watching it.
We both saw them in 1993 and also in 1994....earthquake!
This was definitely in tony hawk 1. So much good music in those games!
So glad the most important thing to anyone about this song is that it was in a video game!
Great reaction! Check out other Rage songs such as - Down Rodeo, Darkness in Greed, Roll Right, Microphone Fiend, Township Rebellion
All of there lyrics are about hard hitting topics of non-equity, corruption and racism.
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses.
Oh my goodness! You MUST listen to more Rage Against the Machine!!!
This was our ANTHEM in High School!
I’m so happy for you 2!
I enjoy the ❤️ you always share!
Lol at first I thought u were talking about anthem the video game
@@reanschwarzer9512 I was
Just wanted to add that this album came out in 1992, in reaction to the acquittal of 3 of the 4 officers that beat Rodney King, a Black motorist, nearly to death in 1991. The incident, caught on film, was used as evidence, and sparked the LA Riots the next year. The officers claimed he "resisted arrest".
Drugs may have been involved.. Again
More Rage please! Zach could rap better than 99 per cent of todays Rappers. Try Down Rodeo , Bulls on Parade or Wake Up. Their songs are just as relevant today.
Do all their songs! Ride the Rage! Peace
This song was actually NOT in Tony Hawk's, but another song of theirs, "guerilla radio" was in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Nice! Thanks for actually digging and reacting to the song! This was so fun to watch... I was a teenager when it came out -- Rage was sooo good but I'm one of those people who always wants to learn the lyrics, way too many people ignore them. So glad you didn't!
My suggestion...all RATM reactions should be done with a lyric video.
This was originally their opening instrumental. Lyrically is their simplest song. Strongly urge you to do more rage. Use lyrics first time though.
Every rage song is a lesson.
Bullet in the head
Wake up
Calm like a bomb
✊🏿✊🏽✊✊🏻
✊🏾
These are the songs i would listen to next, and in this order. You should always watch the lyrics videos!!!!
- Down Rodeo
- Know Your Enemy
- Wake Up
- Maria
- Testify
🕺🕺
The song you remembered from Tony Hawk games was Guerrilla Radio, also by Rage... Check it out
I love seeing the reaction of people hearing Rage for first time. Most politically influential groups with Public Enemy in the last 30 years. I'll never forget when I was in HighSchool in the 90s, talking to my dad about Rage. He asked why I liked them. I said because of the message. We talked for hours about their political stance. Don't think he ever liked the music but he respected their stance. It's hard to miss their message. Rage slaps you in the face with it. Zach could flow and Morello was a genius.
Most Rage songs are about injustice or oppression. This song was about white supremacy and police brutality. You should watch their live 1993 performance of this song. They absolutely KILL it in their live 1993 performance. Also, as black folks, y'all NEED to hear "Know Your Enemy" next WITH LYRICS (find a lyric video for that one - the lyrics are important). You should also find a lyric video for "The Ghost of Tom Joad." You should watch the official music video of "Bulls On Parade". "Renegades of Funk" is epic too.
This is a really popular Rage song, and for good reason, but if you really want to experience them you should look into Sleep Now In The Fire, No Shelter, Bulls On Parade, Wake Up, Guerilla Radio, Testify, and especially Know Your Enemy
This whole record is amazing and, unfortunately, still extremely relevant almost 30 years later 😕
u def should do more Rage reactions! Loved it
Their song Guerilla Radio was in Tony Hawk. You might have heard MGK's cover of this song ... either way, welcome to Rage! Every single song has a powerful message. Down Rodeo, Darkness, No Shelter, Bull on Parade, Know Your Enemy, Vietnow, Mic Check.... always get the lyrics videos.
love your reaction to the lyrics and the song. so great
Lyrics are important when listening to any rage song
First time viewer here, RATM has a pretty big catalogue and this barely scratches the surface of their talent, musically and lyrically. Please check out Calm Like a Bomb, Sleep Now In the Fire, Guerilla Radio, Wake Up, and Know Your Enemy.
Yes a protest song against police brutality against black Americans. Created in response to the beating of Rodney King. Fast forward 27 years and sadly it’s still relevant today. This song is lyrically simple but super powerful. Zack is a world class rapper that can spit barz with the best of them. Check out some more songs, there is always a political/social message. Yes again, lyrics always help get their message. Tom Morello has a poly-sci degree from Harvard and Zack is mad smart and educated on all types of social issues. Zack’s is Mexican-American with a proud heritage of a Mexican revolutionary. Dissidence is in his blood.
First heard this song on a college radio station in the midwest...uncensored. It was awesome because the college DJ's came and apologized for it but you knew they played it on purpose.
You guys need to listen to more RATM. Yes, a protest against the injustices of the system.
This band ROCKED. They are sorely missed but their music lives on.
Welcome to the anti establishment know as Rage against the Machine. Do Bulls On Parade next. It is their biggest hit on from that time. Definitely get the lyrics. This was after the Rodney King Riots. You will see more of the anti establishment in this track it talks about the aggressive tactics of the military. If you do it I'll tell you more about the lyrics . I don't want to give away too much.He also tells families to arm themselves. Same as today. I was 16 in 96 when Bulls on Parade came out. love you guys reactions 🙏🏼
Dude! And you had the game right behind you! Priceless!
You should react to their song Know Your Enemy. And make sure it's a version with the (correct) lyrics
Since you two like RATM & Linkin Park, should check out a band called Hed pe. They're metal, punk music infused with hip hop. Songs I suggest are Bartender, Renegade, Suffa, Here and Now, Blackout, Killing Time or their new song/video First Blood. Thx & keep the great reactions coming👊🤟
This song and many of their songs were from early 90s, talking about Rodney King and the 92 LA riots
This is one of RATMs more simplified lyric songs. More like a protest chant but still powerfully delivered.
I would recomened "Wake Up", " Know your Enemy", "Bulls on parade" as great intro songs to the band. All shoulde be viewed as lyric videos.
Then listen to "Down Rodeo", "Without a face" and "Testify". There are so many others but if you through these you'll be hooked and educated.
this song wasn't in Tony Hawk, but Guerilla Radio by the same band is in THPS2
It was in GTA: San Andreas and Guitar Hero 2. "Guerilla Radio" was in the first Tony Hawk.
when your a fan. you tend to seek out the artist and what they are about. well done.
They do have a song named "Testify" in case you just really need to hear him say it lol.
Damn! Staci got them WPM on the keyboard. Glad you guys are hopping into this Rat(m) hole. Voice of the voiceless, Calm like a bomb, and New millennium homes are great messages and messages that we need still today
FYI- a couple RAGE songs were in THE MATRIX soundtracks.
This song was in GTA: San Andreas. Their song Guerilla Radio was in Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 though. And now I feel like playing both those games lol
Please do Rage Against the Machine "Wake Up".
Very powerfull message.
“Wake Up” is a must!
"Guerilla Radio" was the song on Tony Hawk 2.
Que les pasa a los gringos. Como no conoce a RATM???
Me hacen volver a mi adolecencia. Ahora tengo 43 años.
Un abrazo desde Argentina
Pretty much all of their songs are protest songs. They’re incredibly relevant in today’s political climate. Some other songs from them that you guys might want to check out are Wake Up, Down Rodeo, Bulls on Parade, and People of the Sun.
I think the next most obvious RATM song to review would be their next most popular single, "Bulls on Parade"
This song came out during the Rodney king riot, they are one of the best protest bands of our generation,s❤.multi culture band speaking the truth about corruption in the government, those were work forces are the same that burn crosses, the police back then were just as bad then as they are today.this song is for all of us and how the government is so bad.much more, please read about them.this is pop, funk, punk , metal, rock, rap
i dont think its a song that was made to jam to, but to send a message, but it slaps too and those strings were acrobatic level stretched for those riffs so i had the same experience hearing it first i just vibed with the music not the lyrics
The rage against the machine song in Tony Hawk was “Guerilla Radio”.
Take the Power Back, Testify, Bulls on Parade..... Pretty much ANY of their songs!! 💜💜
"Killing In the Name Of" was written in response to the televised beating of Rodney King by four LAPD officers in March 1991. This song is just as relevant today as it was all those years ago. We need to bring these songs back into the mainstream...
"Those who died!
Are justified!
For wearing a badge,
they're the chosen whites!"

I don't know about the Tony Hawk games, but it was featured for Guitar Hero 3 I believe. There was also a special guitar battle in which you go against Tom Morello to advance to the next stage.
Can't go wrong with RATM. Legendary. #FightThePower
Ya'll need to go to a rock concert, ASAP. Nothing is more fun and brings people together. No one cares what you look like, how you move, we look out for each other...it's the best type of therapy in the world.
She looked like she ain’t never heard so many F bombs dropped in HER LIFE haha she was shook
Calm Like A Bomb, you got to hear it! Amazing!!
Ya'll talked me into subbing with that game at the end =p I was a teen when this song came out and I remember feeling like I was a part of something bigger and more important just listening to their album. It effected me in a lot of ways and helped shape me into a more conscious person when it came to noticing the things happening in the world as a whole and not just being a typical teen stuck in my own little world. All of their music had a message and you should check out more of it if you get a chance
Check out "Rage Against The Machine - Art of Protest; Part 1 of 6" which tells a lot about the band.
New to your channel & already in love 🥰
You must have the lyrics when listening to their music. Very powerful stuff that is relevant to today's problem. Down the RATM rabbit hole. Enjoy!
You have to listen to "Wake Up", " Bulls on Parade" and "The renegades of funk"
Great reaction & like the channel. Try Know Your Enemy next
Other good Rage Against the Machine songs that would be good, in descending order:
Bullet In the Head
Bulls on Parade
Renegades of Funk
Testify
Fistful of Steel
Sleep Now In the Fire
Love you guys! I wish you would listen to “Ooh Child” by The Five Stairsteps. They were on Soul Train. The song has so much meaning and the hope for a brighter day. This was the early 1970s and although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had been past a decade earlier there was and still is a hell of a long way to go.
Listen to more Rage. Amazing stuff. This is easily their most simple song, lyrically, still great though. Check out their song Know Your Enemy.
