- Your Air Conditioner's condenser fins can easily get bent in many ways. The bent fins block air flow which will result in less efficiency and cost you most $.
While you should clean our condenser's coils occasionally, do not use a pressure washer like I did by accident.
Luckily you can straighten the bent fins easily quicky and little money.
I show how I use a stainless steel brush to straighten out my condenser's bent fins. - Авто та транспорт
I just had a 50 ton Roof Top Unit that was smashed completely flat top to bottom from hail. I did 2 approx. 10 ft x 6 ft coils in a day. These things were so flat I never would have attempted the old fin comb and small screwdriver bit that Ive used for years. It would have taken forever and been cost prohibitive to my customer. Ive been straightening cond coils for over 35 years and I have never come up with a method this fast that does such great job on such a smashed flat coil. The wire brush itself works amazing but you add a little WD40 and it's like magic. Wow! Im not throwing my fin combs away but they wont get much use anymore.
From a commercial hvac tech for over 35 years, You sir are the man. Thank you brother! My customers thank you too!!!
Thanks awesome man. I know when I tried that brush with wd40 I was shocked how well it worked. I kept figuring HVAC would be laughing at me for doing it that way but it worked for me. Glad it worked for you and your customer. Stay cool out there 🍻
I'm in the hvac industry for over 30 years and those fins are very delicate. That's why they have that cage around it to prevent hail damage. I have the fin comb but your idea worked great. It's always tedious trying to straighten fins. Take it as a learning lesson and glad to see you put out a video on what not to do and how to fix. We all make mistakes but as long as you learn from it. Good job 👍
The worst part is that I knew better but still did it...
As one of my old NCOs use to say, "good initiative, bad judgment"... we've all been there, thanks for the humility and sharing the video.
Great idea and nice work man!
Thanks!
Wow you Fd that condenser up
I'm thinking the WD-40 will collect more dirt. Man that power washer really messed that up
I would have probably learned this the same way you did, fortunately an HVAC guy keyed me in to only ever use running water without pressure or else this happens.
Ouch that was a big deal glad you got it fixed
Sometimes we just act without the thought process taking place first it happens to us all
I'm here because i did the same damn thing. Im going to fix it this weekend. Mistake me!
It’s unfortunate that the dryer vent is located next to the condenser. Relocating the dryer vent would save you lots of cleaning, in the future.
In other words: Don't do that
